My fellow future Canadians ![]() I am married (we are both 33yo with no children) and we plan to immigrate together to Canada by God's grace. Our CRS currently stands at 442. IELTS - I plan to use an existing IELTS general that I wrote for UK Visa. Please will this be okay? My score was L-9, R-9, W-7.5, S-7.5. However it expires first week of December and I really hope we can get ITA and submit e-APR by then so I don't have to write it again o. Is this a realistic target? My partner will write IELTS in a few weeks to boost our score (already booked) and hopefully get his result by early Nov. ECA - I have MSc and partner has BSc. We have already started the evaluation process with ICES (shout out to you guys for the tip!) & our transcripts have been received from our universities. Hoping we can get the ECAs by early Nov. POF - I need advice on this one o. We currently have the required funds in a joint account by depositing money from our individual salary account last month. So we have only had the money there for just a month. I don't know if this is acceptable for POF. The other alternative is to use a cash fund that I have with my employer (similar to what Indians call provident fund). The money will be paid to me in full lump-sum when I leave the company. The amount meets the POF requirement too and I think I can get a letter from my employer to back this up. Should I use both options, just to be on the safe side? Please advise me o. Work reference letter - I have only worked for one company but there was a break in my employment e.g. 2014-2016 working in Nigeria,2017 personal leave, 2018 working in UK for the same company but with a different job title. I want to claim 3+ years of experience so I am planning to request for just one reference letter that will state all the job titles I have had with dates and the r&r. Will this be acceptable? PCC - in progress Medicals - planning to do this as soon as we get ITA. Thanks everyone, God will favour us all o!! 13 Likes |

I also recommend worldremit, the rates are not bad and it is convenient and fast. Also just to add, if your wife uses worldremit, she can get 15 pounds cashback via topcashback https://www.topcashback.co.uk/world-remit-ltd AND she can get additional 20 pounds if she is referred by an existing user. danberg: |

Chiinj, just to add this: from my personal experience sponsoring my parents, I didn't need to post any original documents. I simply downloaded online copies of my bank statement, together with electronic copies of my payslip, sent via email to my mum and she printed them to submit at the visa centre. Even the invitation letter, I signed it electronically and also sent via email. So if you can, just send your documents via email to your visitor. Lexusgs430: 1 Like 2 Shares |

I regularly take powdered peak milk from Nigeria to UK and never had any issues. Zoey1: |

For tier 2 visa, you need the IELTS UKVI General test, if this is the one you have then you can use it. English language proficiency at CEFR Level B1 is required, which is equivalent to an ielts score of 4.0 in all categories https://www.britishcouncil.org.ng/score No your spouse does not need to write ielts Lovell234: |

This is not totally correct, you only need police certificate IF your job requires you to work with vulnerable people. I did not include police certificate for my tier 2 visa application. I suggest you do more research before potentially wasting your money. Hunnybee: |

From my experience, I think the documents you are submitting is adequate. If there are large deposits on your mum's bank statement, I'd advise that she addresses them in her cover letter. Good luck! ![]() chiinj: |

1. No the CoS is not just a number, it is a document that contains information about your wife's sponsorship. Your wife should have a copy of it, mine was two pages. 2. You can pay IHS fee before or after you start your application https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigration-application/pay After payment, a reference number is generated. Print the confirmation email with the reference number and include with your application. Good luck. technobayo: |

They did biometrics on 12th June and got passports back on 3rd July, excluding the sallah public holidays and weekends, it took 13 working days. marylanderr: |

In my own opinion, I think it is perfectly acceptable. In my case, I am not a british citizen, I am on Tier 2 visa and I stated that I am fully sponsoring my parents trip as a gift to them. However, we also included proof that they are both working (self-employed) and have businesses in Nigeria that they will return to. I think this helps to satisfy the ECO's concern that they won't stay back in UK illegally. We also included their bank statements (they both had roughly 600k each in their accounts) and two land documents. In summary, from your end, provide proof that you have adequate funds to sponsor them and from your parents end, provide proof that they are established in Nigeria and will return after their trip. Good luck ![]() marylanderr: 1 Like |

I can't answer number one 2. No it won't affect your visa application 3. Your marriage certificate is the ultimate proof of your union, nowadays it is not unusual to still keep your maiden name after marriage. kemitomi: |

Guys, I think this will be welcome development for us all. I have seen several people on this forum refused visit visa for frivolous reasons, without any right of appeal. It is great to see that someone is finally challenging the Home Office on this issue. @PefHouse, I don't think your dad needs to write a sponsorship letter. In your case, your mum is the sole sponsor of their trip so I suggest she writes a cover letter and both of them sign this letter. This is what I did for my parents visa application - one cover letter written by my mum and signed by her and her husband (although I was the sponsor in their own case). PefHouse: |

I applied for a Tier 2 dependant visa for my partner and also visitor visa for my parents, all three were approved! I have been a semi-silent member here and I just want to thank everyone who contributes to this thread, the information here is invaluable. I will come back and post timelines for each application. I wish everyone success with their applications and I'm happy to answer any related questions ![]() 1 Like |

Yes, your tenancy agreement is enough as proof of accomodation. That's what I used for my partner's tier 2 dependant visa, we didn't submit any letter from landlord and visa was approved. Jaydee11: |

Yes you can, so long as you have your BRP. See details here https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/tourism-visitor/required-documents/ Frenchfriez: 2 Likes 1 Share |

I disagree with oxygyne's statement. 'Mrs' is a title for married women while 'Miss' is for unmarried women. It doesn't matter if you change your name or not. Loritess: |

This is really sad and I think unfair on the part of the home office - they could have contacted your husband to submit the missing payslips. Here's what I advise: as soon as you complete the new application and receive your visa, your husband should contact his MP to write to the home office to see if the cost of the first application can be refunded. It's a worth a shot to recover your money back. shemafia: |

If you have prior driving experience in Nigeria, I would suggest Aviva because they take into account total number of years you've held a licence (not necessarily a UK licence) which makes the quote much cheaper. Also, if you buy through topcashback app, you can get 50 pounds cashback on your insurance. Mamatukwas: 3 Likes 6 Shares |

Completely agree! You don't need proof of address to open a starling account and the process takes less than 30mins. I've been using starling bank for over 6 months with no complaints. In fact, I am considering making it my main account sef. wonlasewonimi: 1 Like 1 Share |

Yes you can. Start date on my CoS was 15 days before I even applied for the entry visa and it was approved. Although I also included a note addressing this in the additional information section of my application form. xxmxx: |
