Christianity EtcSinach Becomes The First African To Top The US Billboard by Noneroone(op): 11:11am On Jul 05, 2020
Multiple award-winning gospel artist and songwriter, Sinach has become the first African and arguably the first black person to rank at number one on the Christian Songwriters’ category of the USA Billboard, for her song ‘Way Maker’.

The songwriter, according to the data released in May, has dominated the chart for the past seven weeks. globally, various versions of the song have been streamed over 250 million times life-to-date on YouTube. On Spotify, top versions of the song now account for over 54 million streams life-to-date.

“In short Sinach has accumulated the most points out of any other Christian market songwriter for the past seven weeks.  My analysis is that the large number of recorded versions of the song Waymaker are adding up to this accomplishment and acknowledgment.  The other songwriters on this list have dozens of different songs recorded by other artists that are comprising their “points total,” said Les Moir,  A&R Ambassador at Integrity Music Europe.

At 148 million views, the original video of ‘Way Maker’ is currently the third most-streamed song in the world on YouTube. She was rated by Pulse.ng as the Female Artist of the Decade, Female Gospel Artist of the Decade and also listed in the top 10 Artist of the Decade.

Since the song was released on 30 December 2015, ‘Way Maker’ has been covered by a number of globally acclaimed Christian music artists such as Michael W. Smith, Leeland; Christafari; Passion Worship Bank; Maranda Curtis; and Bethel Music to mention a few.

Two covers of ‘Way Maker’ by Michael W. Smith and Leeland are featured in the top 10 Hot Christian Songs chart. According to Billboard, this is the first time in the history of the Hot Christian songs that two versions of the same song have resided simultaneously in the top 10. Leeland’s version is currently ninth on the chart, while Michael W. Smith’s version is in third position.

Speaking on the ranking, Osinachi Joseph also known as Sinach, said, “It’s truly exciting to know from Nigeria, we are reaching far and dominating in the West. It basically chronicles what God can do when you yield to Him. Just thinking of it is really humbling and to know it’s a song of hope, faith in God, and trusting in Him that has brought us thus far. I’m sure you’ve seen the videos of ‘Way Maker’ being sung in many hospitals, car parks, garages – everywhere this period! God has used it to strengthen many around the world, not to give up, but believe that He is the rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. So I’m truly happy, excited, and glad Jesus is glorified once more.”

A senior worship leader at Loveworld Incorporated, Sinach has an overflowing catalogue of 9 studio albums with a very special Worship EP in the works. Her unrecorded songs but written, are in thousands.

While ‘Way Maker’ is her first song to gain global critical acclaim and peak on the Billboard, she says her being in the limelight was always a given so long as Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President of Loveworld Incorporated was organising record breaking programs going back into the 90s.

Prior to ‘Way Maker’, songs like ‘Holy, Are you Lord’, ‘Stand Amazed’, ‘Simply Devoted’, ‘Rejoice’, and many more had become an anthem in many Christian gatherings around the world.

“Way Maker’s rise and rise has been truly phenomenal and divine and it has consolidated a new pedestal for me,” she said.

The song was inspired by her unwavering faith in God and the Knowledge that He is who He says he is.

She recently released ‘All Things Are Ready’ and was featured in a worship single by Ada Ehi titled, ‘Fix My Eyes on You’.

“Firstly, you have to be a Christian; born again really. Also, study the Word of God and go to Church, and have a genuine fellowship with God. You sing the word of God, and if you are not full of it, how would you be inspired to write? If you don’t fellowship with Him, how would He inspire your songs to minister to His people?” she said.

Gov inaugurates 13-man boundary adjustment panel

Borno State Government has established six agencies to ensure efficient implementation of government’s projects, policies and programmes. While announcing the agencies and trust funds yesterday at the Musa Usman

Secretariat, Maiduguri, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Usman Shuwa, disclosed: “The newly established agencies include Borno State Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), Education Trust Fund, State’s Security Fund, Borno State Bureau of Public Procurement and Agency for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and Partnership.”

According to him, the completion of 326 projects and implementation of 46 programmes in a year are to improve living conditions of people in urban and rural centres of the state.

“The Procurement Act was passed by the National Assembly and domesticated by the House of Assembly,” he added. Warning that all government procurements must be through the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), in line with Public Procurement Act, to curb corruption and wastage, he said overcoming structural and institutional inadequacies were to make civil service dynamic, in accordance with changing trends in governance.

On refugees and Internally-Displaced Persons (IDPs), he said: “We have concluded agreement with neighbouring countries of Niger, Chad and Cameroon to repatriate 250,000 Nigerian refugees for resettlement.

“Already, 2,000 refugees from Cameroon have arrived Banki, a border town with Cameroon. We’re discussing with the Nigerian Refugee Commission and Nigerian
Air Force (NAF) with a view to bringing other refugees in other neighbouring countries to the North East.”

SIMILARLY governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has constituted a 13-member State Boundary Committee.

According to him, members of the panel are to adjust the boundaries of five councils in the state. Shuwa disclosed at the weekend that the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur had been chosen to head the boundary committee.

“The Ministerial Secretary of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Special Duties will also serve as secretary of committee,” he added. Other members of the committee include permanent secretaries from the ministries of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Special Duties, as well as Local Government and Emirate Affairs. He said the committee would be inaugurated in due course.

The Googled map of UNO State of Cameroon indicated that the committee might adjust the boundaries of five councils in Borno, including Bama, Ngala, Gwoza, Dikwa and Kala/Balge.

You should be bothered that those who have the responsibility of protecting you would rather allow you to be killed and use the usual anti Igbo propaganda to cheer you up. Fulani killings is not a propaganda issue it is there for the world to see while communal clash happens all over the country.

The problem of Nigeria is failure of the political class and very F00LISH CITIZENS

Our Politicians fan the usual tribal card during Election and it always work and they get elected into office . Nigeria political structure is the true reflection of the F00LISH CITIZENS who elect such people and get manipulated by tribal cards of this politicians

The political federal power is firmly in the hand of Northern Politician yet their people are ignored and suffer the most when they get into power only a few inner circle benefit

Igbos kill fellow igbos
Hausa kill fellow hausas
Yoruba kill and mine the skulls of Fellow Yoruba's
Anambra community fighting and killing Each other over land

Same with Niger Delta people killing each other

Will all this change in Biafara? Oduduwa ? Arewa ? Niger delta Republican ? Middle Belt Republic ?
Will igbos stop killing Igbos ?
Yoruba stop killing Yoruba's ?
Hausa stop killing Hausas ?
Niger Deltans stop killing Niger Deltans ?

Nothing will change only a new set of tribal warlords will emerge to get a shot at power , wealth and the circle continue

I strongly believe in a Strong Nigeria but i have no hope of a better Nigeria because only God can cure us of our STUP1DITY we are as bad as the Politician we elect into office purely based on tribal card
what told you the solution was breakup? because that's the only option available.

A better Nigeria is a Nigeria free from its present mentality and greed. An average Nigerian is egoistic and greedy, not different from the politicians, hence we keep changing leaders but same results, even the young leaders, the desmond elliot, shina peller, yaya bello....what impact have they
But all developed countries also have "greedy" and "egoistic" people, why isn't Nigeria developing like them?

When did Oba says Lagos is not Oodua Land? The present Oba of Lagos merely spoke of the the throne. No King of Lagos has ever said that . The land of Lagos belongs to the Idejos who are the grandchildren of OluIwa. This is known to the Aworis. There is a little difference between the Ibos and Binis.

Above is the classic case of what I have opined several times.

Bode George and his group are protesting against fellow Lagos politicians, but a typical clansman with victim mentality has made the protest a matter of "Igbo envy".

Must these clowns find relevance in every matter that does not concern them, while posing as the victim of the matter?

Please, what is the correlation between the topic and the insecurities of the Igbos?

The clown who is talking about envy might even be a gala hawker who daily retires to his 1room in Ajegunle.
quit saying trash. This has been going on for long. Even the oba of Lagos says that Lagos is not yorubaland. its not politics, it's a known fact.

So only Igbo actors are the nollywood actors? Do you even know how nollywood came about? Etomi Adesua is not nollywood actress but biniwood according to your logic?
can you point out where I made the claim? if an Igbo actor features in Yoruba movies that makes the Igbo a Yoruba personality not a nollywood actor. If yorubas like omotola, olu jacobs etc feature in nollywood it makes them nollywood actors but it doesnt change the cultural foundation and the igbo story that nollywood projects. If ighalo like let him become the coach of Man U it wouldn't turn Barclay's premier league to Nigeria premier league. It's still part of English football. Some Igbo's like Patience ozokwor who speak Yoruba tried the Yoruba industry but it wasn't paying. If Yoruba stories are selling as it should Igbo producers and actors would dominate your industry. But you are not making any effort to tell your stories, instead you find some of Yoruba producers try to "mix" two cultures in one movie as a way of telling yoruba story using the false pretence of producing nollywood movies which are more marketable as in "omugwo" and "wedding party".

They ran to establish Yoruba wood thinking it's by muscle, today they all want to be part of the Nollywood success story. We will not discriminate against them afterall the field is big enough for all players. What we do not want is revisionism and lies. Give honour to whom honour is due simple.
They haven't even got the courage to brand their industry. They don't believe in hardwork, they believe in riding on people's hardwork. They believe in government intervention in business as with the indigenization decree. Jide kosoko even called on government some yrs back to ban home videos which didn't pass through cinemas. A veiled call to ban nollywood. If they can't compete, they claim. when they can't claim they hate.

So Yoruba movies that has been in existence since the days of Ogunde doesn't count? When did the Igbo started telling Igbo stories?

You guys are boring me with all these roforofo talks!
it is not our business if you choose to abandon your industry and story. Hausas know they wouldn't be comfortable having Igbo's tell their story and its religious connotations that is why they hold onto kannywood. Yorubas have their own story told in Yoruba language, they have their actors who belong to a union separate from nollywood Actors guild of Nigeria called association of theatre act practitioners of Nigeria, so what's the fuss about being part of nollywood? Do you think an average actor of the Yoruba section be him Yoruba or English would be identified as a nollywood actor outside Nigeria?

I don't have time for you Wikipedia pseudo-intellectuals. Someone went to wikipedia and wrote a junk history saying that "cinema industry is informally referred to as nollywood" . History of cinema in Nigeria is different from nollywood. You shouldn't try to dubiously mix them together. Nollywood started as home video not cinema that was why it celebrated 20th anniversary in 2012. if you want to celebrate your cinematography, do so without dubiously attaching to another industry.

Most of the movies are English produced. so what the bleep are you talking about?
who told you every English movie is nollywood? Nollywood started as Igbo stories told in Igbo language, later changed to Igbo stories told in English language for marketing expediency. They incorporated people from other ethnic groups and built a multimillion dollar empire. some nollywood movies have French and Swahili versions outside Nigeria. The North have their own story too told through kannywood. it's kinda surprising how Yoruba's try to attach to nollywood and brand their movies a such. You should be looking at ways to tell your stories to the world by building a Yoruba industry instead of riding on the back of successful people while stabbing them in the name of "modifying". We know the history well and won't let you rewrite it.

This is the list of the 50 highest grossing Nollywood movies of all time.

Can you clearly see the Yorubas still dominate?

Fame of Mr. Ibru you say? Is Ramsey Noah not famous? Is Desmond Elliot not famous? Is Olu Jacob not famous?

Fame is relative, we are talking about the entrepreneurial aspect of Nollywood and Yorubas are clearly modifying Nolywood and making it more viable. It’s about innovation and the Yorubas clearly understood the game.
most of these movies you listed are not nollywood movies. they are yorubawood at the least. If they are highest grossing (in your language), then have the money and don't "modify" a nollywood industry known worldwide.
