LOMBARDY:
You suddenly assume am anti-igbo??
You said a big ethnic group with similar culturally inclination and most importantly same religious beliefs with some minorities in most developed countries, are mostly considered an homogeneous entity.

I was putting Biafra in the context as you suggested earlier...
My advice, don't be quick to surmise someone hates you because your ideas may not correlate at the moment
You didn't respond to my question. How does the word "south" enter the discourse? when you make up your mind on whether you're putting Biafra or the entire south in the context then quote me.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Most Developed Countries Monolingual?? by Noneroone(m): 9:33pm On Oct 11, 2019
LOMBARDY:
So you're saying the Igbo will serve as a cultural adhesive factor in the case of an independent southern country??
Take note that a joint southern culture is just available with a few connected southern ethnic group. What makes you think the rest won't desire self rule??
This is how people fail examinations. Can you point to one place in my comment where the word "south" is mentioned? or is it a case of an anti-Igbo disorder?
PoliticsRe: Why Are Most Developed Countries Monolingual?? by Noneroone(m): 9:01pm On Oct 11, 2019
LOMBARDY:
Nigerian tribes in the south are culturally and lingually independent, they won't have to learn your language in other to communicate with you, if you can't speak English
you're missing the point. The idea is not only having a single ethnic group. well, If it happens that way, its good. But having a big ethnic group with other smaller RELATED groups can also work well. Most advanced European nations we often thought of as homogeneous actually have a dominant culture serving as a rallying point for other related minority groups. Nigeria's problem is essentially the absence of a dominant culture and value system. The north is culturally middle east (Muslim and Arabic) while the East is strongly Judeo-Christian. As you can see, the Igbo's and so called Eastern minorities are bound by Christianity, basic traditions, food etc while on the other hand the Igbo and Hausa/Fulani are two parallels yet, we want to administer the country as though it is homogeneous. Nigeria won't achieve basic human development that requires national cohesion. In fact we'll have hard time determining which development goals to pursue.
PoliticsRe: Why Are Most Developed Countries Monolingual?? by Noneroone(m): 4:31pm On Oct 11, 2019
LOMBARDY:
You are indirectly saying you'll replicate the same in Biafra? Who told you Igbo is natural to the SS tribes??

Do you know what they did before Hausa language became imposed in the North??
It seems an anti Igbo disorder has replaced the logic on which the thread is built. There's a difference between official language (lingual fanca) and a dominant first language. Lingual franca is imposed but a first language gradually spreads over a long period of time through interactions, especially among related groups who share similar values.
Members of smaller ethnic groups who share similar culture and values with a dominant one don't find it a big deal, dealing with, learning the language of the dominant group and sometimes ultimately getting assimilated by them, especially if inter marriage is heavy. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact many nations pray for it and even the minorities in some cases like it but won't admit. This is happening with Igbo's and neighbouring smaller ethnic groups like ijaw, Idoma etc. Also so among northern minority groups who speak Hausa.
However it is less possible between Hausa/fulani and Igbo or both with Yoruba simply because they are culturally distinct. This is Nigeria's key problem and this is also why the idea of national integration will remain elusive. National integration will be easier in say, Biafra.

PoliticsRe: Peter Obi To Ngige: Focus On Your Duty, Stop The Mischief by Noneroone(m):
Ngige is still the best Governor Anambra has had. Obi does not even come close comparing the prevailing political atmosphere, the resources at their disposal and the time they spent.

Addition...

I am neither PDP nor APC and i reject most members of igbo political class including ngige and obi for the role the are playing in enthroning fulani hegemony. Ngige was better .Ngige spent less than 3 yrs in office but obi spent a whooping eight yes. Ngige's administration resumed when the state coffers was literally dry civil servants, teachers, all govt agencies were owed, the state was under the evil grip god fathers and insecurity prevailed to an extent. He came, wrestled the federal backed god fathers on one hand and performed wonders on the other hand. he settled worker areas, pensioners areas, teachers areas without making noise. what is more, he constructed quality roads, renovated hospitals, schools and recruited more teachers and workers. in fact life came back to an almost dead state.

For obi, He got more than 6 times of the total revenue Ngige got yet one wonders how these were spent. He had no clear achievement in his first four yes. in the second half of his adminstration he did many roads but they were extremely substandard, he built the state secretariat, CONVERTED the Awka general hospital into a teaching hospital after halting a the construction of a new one stated by Ngige administration. despite huge allocations he neither recruited workers nor teacher except the done about a month to the end of his 8yrs tenure, he had a long industrial dispute with doctors, judiciary ASUU and state water corporation over mundane reasons. Despite not having any governor who enjoyed such relationship like the one obi enjoyed with Jonathan, nothing good came out of it for the benefit of Anambra state. instead, political hawks gathered Jonathan and confused him in thinking he enjoyed absolute support of Igbo masses. even obiano in all his drunkenness got the FG in constructing Enugu/Onitsha expressway and second Niger bridge. Jonathan loved igbo, but obi and other close to him used that for personal interest despite ekwueme's warnings, which saw to jonathan's defeat.

Ngige was better and is more principled. history has a way of passing judgement. most of obis project like roads, state secretariat, nkpor flyover are all being reconstructed already while those did earlier by Ngige are still solid.

PoliticsKanu At European Parliament Says No Alternative To Referendum by Noneroone(op): 9:33am On Sep 11, 2019
Magnus Eze, Enugu and David Onwuchekwa, Nnewi
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has said the group will remain committed to non-violent campaign for independent state of Biafra, even in the face of provocation.
Kanu also stated that international law was clear in relation to self-determination and wondered why the world has not seen what was happening in Nigeria as it pertained to intimidation, killings and maiming of Igbo people in particular, as a global crisis.
In a four-page briefing that IPOB prepared for the European parliament, Kanu insisted that there was no alternative to referendum.
“Where there is a credible claim for self-determination the only way to resolve the issue is by holding a referendum which complies with international standards. IPOB is calling for a referendum. It is for that reason the Nigerian authorities have sought to brand IPOB as a terrorist organisation. The EU, the UK and the US have all rejected the labelling of IPOB as a terrorist group. They know that IPOB seeks only to uphold human rights.
“There is a crisis in Nigeria. The Nigerian State has never been at peace with itself and recent events amplify this pending emergency.”
Kanu accused President Muhammadu Buhari of promoting the RUGA programme as a means for Fulani herders to officially move into areas and absorb land as part of a government coordinated programme across the country.
Although the programme has been suspended, Kanu raised the fears that the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) was still in place, advocating ranching. With this, he alleged that people in the eastern and southern parts of the country who are mainly Christians “are forced from their land and will be killed if they do not make way for the Fulani.”
Kanu decried the role played by most of the world powers during the 30-month civil war.
He stated that the people of the defunct Biafra were more comfortable under colonial rule than in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The atrocities, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against Biafra during the Biafran War remain unaccounted for. Was it an attempt at genocide? Biafrans were considered an existential threat to the state. The killings were indiscriminate. All Biafrans were targeted.
“Nigeria continues to prioritise crushing assertions of Biafran identity. Even peacefully commemorating the war risks arrest, detention, ill-treatment or being shot.
“In recent years, the Nigerian state authorities have conducted three orchestrated campaigns against Biafrans. The three Operation Python Dance campaigns have been battles against Biafrans. The first campaign was in 2016, the second in 2017 and the third is ongoing. They are designed to undermine calls for Biafran self-determination.
“Operation Python Dance campaigns intimidate. Serious and systemic human rights violations are carried out by state forces with impunity.
“IPOB has always called for creative solutions to recognise Biafrans’ right to self-determination. However, what is clear is that the existing model of the Nigerian constitution is fatally flawed. It continues to cause harm to all within the jurisdiction and it is unsustainable,” he said.

PoliticsFemi Adesina: Nigeria Built On False Foundation by Noneroone(op): 4:55pm On Sep 09, 2019
Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, confirmed, on Monday, that Nigeria was built on a false foundation.

He regretted the fact that the cracks on Nigeria’s foundation had continued to widen due to unpatriotic activities fuelled by religious divide, ethnic consideration, nepotism and most recently, fake news on social media.

He said that though there is hope for a better and greater Nigeria, if only the citizens would own, love, cherish Nigeria and most importantly, discouraged anything that would damage its reputation in the comity of nations.

Adesina spoke at a youth engagement programme, Naija Youth Talk, with the theme “the Nigeria we want,” jointly organised by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Department for International Development (DFID) to mark the 2019 World Literacy Day, in Abuja.

The programme was meant to provide a platform for youths to discuss issues of education, human and national development, also build their capacities and confidence to achieve their dreams and aspirations.
Adesina in his remark said: “Nigeria, obviously, has many fault lines. Few among the faults are religion, ethnicity, language, nepotism and the most recent one is fake news which is being used to undermine Nigeria, cause bitterness, malice and incite Nigerians against each other.”

He said, for instance, the recent xenophobic videos trending online were not authentic. They were deliberately exhumed by some unpatriotic people and were being shared to incite Nigerians against themselves.

He added: “We must love our country and our country must reciprocate by loving us in return. Nigeria in its past and maybe present state maybe not be loveable but we must see reasons to profess our love to it with our heart.”

The UNICEF Country Representative, Peter Hawkins, who was represented by UNICEF Chief of Education, Euphrates Efose, exposed to participants enormous opportunities in today’s world and encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunities to transform themselves, their environment and the world.

She used different verifiable stories and personal experiences to justify to the youths that there were plenty opportunities of wealth amidst murmuring and complains of lack of opportunity.

She reaffirmed the commitment of UNICEF to any cause that would herald significant transformation in health, education and total life package of children in Nigeria and the world in general.

Emilokoiyawon:
Its purely due to religion. Most of the Ilorin Yorubas are Muslims and hence see the emir as a spiritual leader. Its similar to how millions of Igbo Christians see Yoruba pastors as spiritual leaders. Nevertheless, I hope that eventually, the Yorubas in Ilorin will right the ship. And take back their heritage.

PoliticsRe: What Percentage Of Idoma Is Muslim? by Noneroone(op): 10:07am On Sep 09, 2019
Igala issue is quite puzzling. I don't know how IPOB intends going about it. I suggest we abandon the idea of including them as well as urhobo and itshekiri. about half are Muslims. you can't possibility partition them. No one wants a 'Kashmir' in Biafra.

I can comfortably say, Idoma are not and will never be Hausa Muslim. Idomas are not Hausa/Fulani as they are fondly called, even the 17% I said earlier is a mistake cuz I asked and they said Idomas that are Muslims are not more than 5%. They welcome Biafra, if not for anything, for the fact that they have been marginalised by the TIV speaking region of the state.

Yes
OK. pls what is the general Idoma attitude towards Biafra?

I ask ' cos of the my encounter in PH. Someone brought up the idea of inclusion of Idoma and igala in the proposed Biafra, expressing his disapproval over it. Another man even called Idoma Hausa muslims. someone at our back who I later learnt was an idoma nearly fought the man who called them Hausa's. He said except for some in agatu, overwhelming majority of Idomas are Christian and Pro Biafra.

I wouldn't want a country where a section however small will harbour any sort of resentment towards the majority. That's why I need an idoma person to explain things.
