Even the construction of the flyover in the city is being handled by what can be called a 'localistic local construction company' lol.... In my own opinion AWKA needs government's intervention, truly! Construction companies such as ARAB CONTRACTORS OR JULIUS BERGER(recommended) will do wonders and change the face of that town. In housing though,AWKA is not doing bad. But the town(for now its just a town) needs to be planned, roads construct ed with flyovers just give AWKA the uyo treatment and it will be the no.1 city in nigeria. maybe you should start by telling us your state before i begin to prove you wrong. |

Does Anambra have good roads or not? Answer:Anambra has VERY[/size] good roads.
From Nkpor to Obosi and umuoji, from umuoji to ojoto, from ojoto to Nnobi, From nnobi to Awka Etiti to Azigbo to igboukwu to ezinifite to Uga,it's smooth road all the way.
From Awka to Amawbia,Nawfia,Enugu-ukwu,Abagana,ifitedunu,umunnachi,umudioka, Ogbunike,Ogidi,Nkpor, onitsha.Have you passed through this road lately? [/b]
If you did, then thank Peter Obi.As a matter of fact Awka to is is just 25minutes drive.
Have forgotten that it was Peter Obi who tarred the roads in Anaku, omor, igbaku, ifite ogwari, Umueje, umumbo, umuolum roads? These are the rice producing communities in Ayamelum LGA's.Prior to Peter Obi's ascention to power, these communities where anambra/imo river basin authority is sited was the most backward and neglected part of the state.

Christianity Etc › Gay Catholics Hold First Congress In Portugal by Noneroone(op): 7:28pm On Oct 05, 2014 |
Gay and lesbian Catholic groups are holding an international congress in Portugal this week as they seek to make their voices heard by the Vatican. Opening on Monday in the southern resort of Portimao, the three-day event aims to formally federate some 30 associations representing homosexual Catholics from around the world. Together they intend to press for an "urgent change of attitude from Catholic authorities" towards gay parishioners, said Jose Leote whose group Rumos Novos (New Directions) is organising the event. Their congress coincides with an extraordinary synod which began at the Vatican on Sunday to review the Church's attitude to marriage, cohabitation and divorce. Fifteen to 20 delegates will meet in person in Portugal, with the same number joining in by videoconference, to draw up a statement to send to Pope Francis and the nearly 200 bishops meeting for two weeks in Rome. "Jesus began with 12, and look at what that has become," said Francis DeBernardo, head of the US-based "News Ways Ministry" which represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Catholics. DeBernardo intends to act as a bridge between the congress and the synod that opened Sunday in Rome, where he will also be holding a seminar on the place of gays in the Church. The US group wrote to the pope a few months ago, thanking him for his openness to discussing LGBT issues and urging him to go further. "I think this will be a major question of the synod," said DeBernardo. "The topic of homosexuality is so widespread in so many societies and it affects so many people, not only those who are LGBT, but their families, friends, co-workers." The Catholic synod could potentially lead to change in attitudes to marriage, cohabitation and divorce. While the Roman Catholic Church is certainly not about to embrace gay marriage, it could send out a signal of compassion by making it clear priests should be ready to baptise the children of same-sex couples. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news/afp/141005/first-gay-catholic-congress-press-pope-change |

Chuksphil2go: If there is no abandoned property in yorubaland why did it took Ojukwu years to reclaim his dads properties in Lagos?
If Ojukwu could finance such a lengthy and costly judicial journey to get justice, what happened to those who couldnt afford the cost of litigation.
Abandoned property occured everywhere just that the Ikwerre own was so painful considering they are kiths and kins of theose that lost everything in the war.
Yorubas were gifted the whole corporation under indiginization policy of suicidal Awolowo, today where are the comapnies, all the monenies Igbos deposited in bank were stolen by criminal a suicidal Awolowo today who are running the economy.
Nigeria was in trance when Biafra was at war, when Biafrans started emerging again Nigeria started seeing Nollywood, CAF Champion league, Under 17 WC led by Nduka Ugbade, Under 17 WC led by Kanu Nwankwo, Olympics led by Kanu and Chioma Ajunwa, Innoson gave us the first indiginous car assembly plant, Kelechi Ihenacho is still fresh, Emmanuel Ifeajuna won the first Commonwealth medal for Nigeria, Obinna Metu, Uchenna Emedolu, Mary Onyali, Dick Tiger, Hogan Bassey, Ngozi Adichie,
pls tell me whom Yoruba and hausa people produced since the war ended despite sitting in the corridors of power for 50years, list post civilwar Yoruba icon, list post civil war hausa icon, and list post civil war igbo icons all of international repute and tell me those whose names ring more bell?
If after the civil war Yorubas and hausas are enjoying affirmative action in selection of FG entrance score, where is their sucesses and sophistications?
Dont you know that going by what igbos suffered in civil war they deserve affirmative action but today those that didnt witness any human or natural disasters are being given unfair advantage to catch up with those with handicapp. Go to all the major and international mks in Lagos and see how Yorubas are messing themselves up while the igbos control the system after coming out from wae.
Its on record that out of the 5 states that control the 90% monetary transactions in Nigeria 2 are core Igbo states of Anambra and Abia while Rivers, Lagos and Kano share the rest.
The states with highest concentration of commercial banks have 2 SE states at the top 5 while Lagos and Abuja control the rest.
The highest concentration of indeginous companies in Nigeria have Aba as the headquaters while Anambra follow in hot pursuit.
WAEC, NECO, NYSC, JAMB are releasing their data every year, we all know who the lead the pack and who come distance follow up
pls what the did Yorubas achieve while Igboland was being bomb to shred, what did Yorubas achieved when Igbos are setting up their 2*2 shops in all the corners of the country after the way while they sit ontop of the major corporations.
Out of the 20 commercial banks in Nigeria, Igbos can boast of strong and reliable half of them as the core investors while leaving the rest to others to control after 40 of hate induced killing and genocide coupled with systematic conspiracies to make them economic and political slaves.
Where is the sophistication of the Yorubas is the question begging for answer? Dem don run. |

Politics › Learn From History, Forget Second Term- Cardinal Okojie Warns Jonathan Again. by Noneroone(op): 4:40pm On Sep 29, 2014 |
Jonathan should learn from history, forget second term. Cardinal okojie warns again. Former Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, has again advised President Goodluck Jonathan to forget about a second term in office because he does not deserve it. Speaking with SaharaReporters late yesterday from Nigeria, the retired cardinal, a founding member and former leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), recalled a conversation he had with Mr. Jonathan while he was still deputy. According to him, when the president asked him for prayers, he had insisted that Mr. Jonathan should first specify his prayer intentions. He said the president seemed at first shocked, but reluctantly revealed that he intended to run for office again. Disclosing that the encounter happened in the presence of four other people, Cardinal Okojie said he told Jonathan that he could win but would not govern peacefully. SEE ALSO The cardinal, who was known for his fiery outspokenness against both abusive and corrupt military dictatorships as well as corrupt elected officials, stated that Mr. Jonathan was surrounded by sycophants who keep misleading him. Describing the recent formal adoption of Mr. Jonathan as the sole candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as dangerous, the prelate urged the president to look at Nigeria’s history and see what has happened to sole party candidates in the past. Turning his attention to CAN, Cardinal Okojie said the religious organization had become bastardized. He accused the group’s former leader, Reverend Sunday Mbang, of turning CAN it into an appendage of President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration. Even so, he added that whatever Mbang did pales into insignificance compared with what Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, CAN’s current leader, has done with the organization. http://saharareporters.com/2014/09/29/jonathan-should-learn-history-forget-2nd-term-cardinal-okojie-warns-againIs this cardinal for real? |

I beg to differ, the cardinal is wrong. I hope someone is advising him less he makes regrettable incursion into politics through rekless statements. Religious leaders are the moral eyes of the society, they can condemn social and economic inequality like Desmund tutu and leave the country's leadership to adjust the imbalance, whoever the leader is. However, for a person who says a president does not deserve a second term, political opponent is a more apprioprate word. |
