Cambridge University Denies Releasing Buhari’s Result to Kastina State Secondary School. The University of Cambridge yesterday spoke to our reporter about General Buhari certificate forgery. The body declared that although Hausa Language was offered as African Language, they did not release any student’s result to Nigeria. The body accepted that they can issue a certificate to any student who wanted one but denied that the results from Kastina came from them. They promised to release a general statement on their website on the matter as they claimed more than 1,000,000 requests have come to them about the WASC result of one Mohammadu Buhari. The exam body claimed they cannot comment on whether such name exist in their archives but they conclusively denied the Kastina result. When we showed them a sample of another Cambridge result belonging to another candidate, they quickly confirmed it to be real but that General Buhari’s results are fake. The body concluded by saying it takes less than 24 hours for a candidate to obtain a certificate from them. A representative from the exam body also revealed that any legitimate student who sat for the exam in Nigeria can obtain a replacement certificate from the office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC). It should be recalled that Femi Fani- Kayode, a former minister of aviation under Olusegun Obasanjo administration, had used a computerized forensic analytical tool to show that the result released by General Buhari is fake. http://scannewsnigeria.com/news/cambridge-university-denies-releasing-buharis-result-to-kastina-state-secondary-school/ |

Buhari Calls for 'total' Sharia in Nigeria 2001-08-27 21:32 Lagos - A former military ruler of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has called for the introduction of 'total' Islamic law across the country, reports said on Monday. Buhari, who ruled Nigeria from a coup in December 1983 to his ouster in 1985, told a seminar in Kaduna, northern Nigeria, at the weekend that the strict Islamic law code known as the Sharia should be introduced in full across Nigeria. "I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria," Buhari said, quoted in press reports. "God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country," Buhari said. Northern Nigeria is mainly Muslim but southern Nigeria is mainly Christian and has led criticism of the introduction of Islamic law in a dozen northern states in the past 18 months. Africa's most populous country has been shaken repeatedly in the past by religious unrest. In February 2000 between 2 000 and 3 000 people were killed by Christian- Muslim riots in Kaduna over the introduction of Sharia. Call for Sharia across the country Buhari's comments were interpreted by the southern-based papers as a call for the imposition of Sharia all across the country, even in the mainly Christian south. "Buhari calls for Sharia in all states," was the headline of the respected newspaper The Guardian. Buhari's comments were defended by supporters as simply a call for the full implementation of Sharia in areas where Muslims predominated. But the comments are the second by Buhari that have courted controversy after he called earlier this year for Muslims to vote at the next presidential elections only for someone who would defend their faith. This was criticised by the press as a call for voting along religious lines, as well as an attack on the current president, Olusegun Obasanjo, who is a Christian. Buhari made the latest comments at a seminar organised by the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, a newly set up body attended by northern state governments and Islamic scholars. "It is a legal responsibility which God has given us, within the context of one Nigeria, to continue to uphold the practice of Sharia wholeheartedly ... and to educate non- Muslims that they have nothing to fear," he said. "What remains for Muslims in Nigeria is for them to redouble their efforts, educate Muslims on the need to promote the full implementation of Sharia law," he went on. - AFP http://www.news24.com/xArchive/Archive/Calls-for-total-Sharia-in-Nigeria-20010827 |

At least, one person was confirmed killed and five vehicles destroyed during a clash between supporters of PDP and APC at Hotoro, near NNPC Mega Station in Kano on Wednesday. Eye witness told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident happened at about 1.30p.m. when supporters were on their way to attend PDP presidential campaign. According to the witness, supporters of both parties confronted themselves in the area thus leading to the burning of five vehicles belonging to the PDP. The quick intervention of security operatives in the area saved the situation from spreading to other parts of the town. Police Public Relations Officer in Kano State, ASP Magaji Majiya confirmed the incident. He said the command had begun investigation into the cause of the incident. Majiya, however, urged politicians to warn their supporters against taking laws into their hands to ensure peace in the state. http://www.aitonline.tv/post-1_dead__5_vehicles_destroyed_as_parties__supporters_clash_in_kano |
Smh for Nigeria. What type of change does a political party seek to bring through violence? What type of change do 'progressives' seek to bring when the elements among them were the ones that perpetrated the prevailing condition they want to change? Men of Goodwill don't support such changes, and i won't. |

Pope Francis warned that he was ready to “punch” anyone who insulted his mother. The pontiff said this on Thursday in remarks made en route to the Philippines from Sri Lanka, that“ there are limits to freedom of expression and my mother was the limit. “We have a duty to speak openly, to have this freedom, but without offending others. “It’s true that you cannot react with violence, but if my aide Doctor Gasbarri, who is a friend, badmouths my mother, a punch would be coming for him,” he added. The Pope said in relation to recent events in Paris that violence in the name of religion can never be justified, but that there are “limits” to freedom of expression. “Many people badmouth religion, mock it, play with other people’s religion. “It can happen, but there are limits, every religion has dignity, every religion that respects life and human beings has a dignity, and you cannot mock it,” he added. Pope warned that “You cannot provoke, insult, ridicule other people’s faith,”. (dpa/NAN) http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/175010-someone-insults-mother-punch-pope.html |
