Nigeria Army Imposes Dusk-To-Dawn Curfew In Maiduguri The 7th Divisional headquarters of the Nigerian army has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Maiduguri, Borno state capital. The curfew will persist until further notice according to a terse announcement by the army. The army reportedly took the action to forestall a plot by Boko Haram militants to seize Maiduguri; a plot earlier revealed by SaharaReporters. Nigerian troops are currently battling the militants in Bama some 40 miles from Maiduguri. http://saharareporters.com/2014/09/01/nigeria-army-imposes-dusk-dawn-curfew-maiduguri |

Boko Haram: Borno residents condemn plans to denigrate ex-Governor Sheriff By Ameh Comrade Godwin on August 30, 2014@dailypostngr Residents of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital have said that, reports going round linking former governor of the state, Ali Modu Sheriff and Ex-military chief, General Ihiejirika with the Islamic sect, Boko Haram was politics in action. They have called the Ex-governor and the former military chief to sue for defamation of character. According to some residents, Boko Haram did not begin when the ex-governor came to power, adding that the sect activities began in the northeast long before General Ihiejirika became the army chief, and that as such, they could not establish an link or relationship between the ex-governor, the Army chief and Boko Haram in the ensued political play by the opposition APC. Speaking on the publications and news aired by the Borno Radio Television, BRTV, Mallam Hussaini Sani observed that, this is politics in play. According to him, the Austrialian Negotiator, Stephen Davis did not mention any name in his interview with ABC News in Australia, as such there is no connection between that interview and what El-Rufai posted on his Facebook page, except for some political mischief. “If I were in the shoes of Ali Modu Sheriff or General Ihiejirika I would sue both the Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima and El-Rufai because the story was celebrated in a state television, BRTV which goes to tell you that they are doing the bidding of the state governor. Why didn’t NTA carry the report as such? This Austrailian Man was in BRTV. He did not call anyone’s name. If I were him I will sue anybody that link my interview with a massage from El-Rufai. Another resident, Mr. Ishaku Duniya, a civil servant said, our problem in Maiduguri now is how to have peace. Many people cannot sleep well now for fear of uncertainty and some people are trying to create more problems. “I think these are the enemies of the common man.” He said. Speaking on the issue, he said, ” This white man granted an interview in Australia, far away and El-Rufai posted a different thing on his Facebook page. If you read the Australian interview, he said, the sponsors of Boko Haram are in the opposition party. Now, El-Rufai is in the opposition, perhaps one of the sponsors according to the former Army Chief. “Celebrating it in a state TV tells you that whoever pays the piper dictates the tune. There are many political questions to this for those with the knowledge of politics and disaster, but we are not interested in their games, we want peace. To me, everyone in power is a sponsor since these Boko Haram members have been killing and advancing from one town, village and local government to another without being challenged. The poor man is in trouble but God will rise to our Defence.” He said. http://dailypost.ng/2014/08/30/boko-haram-borno-residents-condemn-plans-denigrate-ex-governor-sheriff/?wt=2 |

Boko haram kill and maim people, destroy houses and sack communities in the Northern part of Nigeria This attack has intensified since the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, who is a southerner. Attempts to rid the north of the boko haram menace over this period have witnessed resistance from groups in the same north. General Ihegirika recorded a major breakthrough in defeating boko haram, but elders from the same north, as if in the shoes of boko haram fighters, mounted pressure on the presidency to remove Ihejirika, the same man working to save their own people. When the insurgency got worse following ihejirika's removal, same northerners were on top of their voices againt same the insecurity they worked for. when more than 450 northerners were arrested following a suspicious night movement in Aba by the military, including a man comfirmed by the army to be a wanted terrorist, the same northerners mounted pressure on the army to release them because they were "ordinary citizens" I hope you get the drift... |

Kinfunfun22: But why did you use 20 'Nigerians' in your initial topic and immediately stock same with names of 18 igbos if not to create a false impression that 18 of 20 (90%) of influential Nigerians are igbo.. If u used igbo in ur topic, there would've bn no problem but this is a clearly attempted but woefully failed attempt to spark the fire of your usual empty chest beating which usually results in a wildfire of tribal jabbings. |

THE Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said that Automated Teller Machines (ATM) withdrawals would attract N65 per transaction to cover remuneration for the switches from Sept. 1 This is contained in a circular signed by Dipo Fatokun, Director Banking and Payment System Department, in Abuja on Thursday. “The reintroduction of “Remote-On-Us’’ ATM cash withdrawal transactions fee, which will be now N65 per transaction to cover the remuneration of the switches, ATM monitoring and fit-notes processing by acquiring banks. “The new charge shall apply as from fourth “Remote-on-us’’ withdrawal in a month by a card holder, thereby making the first three `remote on us’ transactions free for the card holders, but to be paid for by the issuing bank,’’ it said. According to the circular, Sept. 1, 2014 shall be the effective date for the implementation of the new fee. It stated that banks were expected to conduct adequate sensitisation of their customers on the introduction of the new fee. The circular stated that all ATM cash withdrawal on the ATM of issuing banks should be at no cost to the card holder. It recalled that CBN in collaboration with the Bankers Committee had in December 2012 transferred the payment of N100 fee on Remote-on-us ATM cash withdrawal transactions to issuing banks. “This fee was shared between the acquirers, issuers and switches. On the commencement of the arrangement in December 2012, banks decided to waive the issuer fee (N35) which should have ordinarily been an income to them. “Consequently banks only bore the cost of N65 each time their customers use another banks’ ATM,’’ it said. mcino: Shaking my head for some ignorant posts here. There is no Ebola in Enugu. The woman is just on observation facility for having primary contact with the evil sawyer. It is not said anywhere that she has tested positive to it. Besides, it is only when the person has tested positive and is already down with it that he can infect others. Even if TNG woman later tests positive, she might likely not have given it to anybody. |
