Realmi:Addiction isn't nemesis for wrong doing, it can happen to anyone, even to the best of person it can happen to them. Honestly I do not pray anyone goes through the experience I and my parents went through. |
Xilsbridalhouse:That is if I'd even be alive. God be praised |
Let me give you a little story and breakdown on how I was able to over come Drug addition. Years ago I was hooked on drugs, name it, tramadol, codeine, meth, crack. This was as a result of the company I kept, bare in mind that my parents are well to do and very godly people who brought me up in same way. But I went astray when I got into the higher institution. Tramadol was my regular dose as it was always and readily available for consumption, in a day I took nothing short of one thousand ml, it got so bad that I almost had a seizure one day while on the road. Glory to God for spearing my life that day. A relative of mine found out after I got home from school and reported the case to my parents with evidence. Now this was how they were able to help me. They showed more love, care and attention to me The counselled me and prayed for and with me I was taken to a general hospital that had addiction cases as its speciality ( you won't believe the kind of addiction cases I saw there and the personalities there), they wanted to place me on admission for a couple of months but one of the doctors there referred us to a private hospital that also specialises in the same case. His reason was that staying at the government general hospital I might not be safe from the drug as drugs were still smuggled into the hospital to those who could pay. I got to the private hospital and ran a couple of test all came out positive (of course). We were asked to pay a very very huge sum of money to commence treatment . My parents were skeptical about it but paid part and I started to attend the support group but my parents didn't want me to be admitted in the hospital, so after 2 weeks they withdrew me and gave me special attention. My location was changed and i was put to work, I worked closely with a relative who was aware of my predicament and he kept tabs on me. This work got my mind off drugs. I got closer to God and also was determined to stop. Also I was meant to go for a monthly test to check the drug level in my urine. This happened for over 7 months. As I write this, it's been 5 years now and not a single illicit drug has touched my lips. Praise the Lord !!! I hope the above advice helps Modified After going through some comments above I'd love to give these few advices. 1. Don't let anyone discourage you from helping that young man, you might just be that angel God wants to use to help him, by so doing you have helped spare a generation and soul from death. 2. Do not use aggression on him, show him love and more love. Love conquers all thing, no matter how hardened a person is. 3. The hospitals I went to are all in Abuja, for the private hospital we were to spend over 1.5million (this was five years ago) in three months for treatment, the government hospital was on the cheaper side. Now I wouldn't suggest leaving him at the hospital as drugs can still find its way into the hospital. Instead take him to see a councilor and you also keep tabs on him, with LOVE. |

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he grows he will not depart fron it. I have noticed that we Nigerians are gradually imitating the way rhe whites bring up their kids, with a soft hand and without being firm. Either ways goodluck with them both |

Nawa o, we are mean in this country o. Look at the way people clamoured for this show to return to our screen, it return and nobody gave a damn about it. Sha I blame the organisers for the "failure" of the show. After the introduction of BBN our taste changed, people prefer to tune in at any time and get update or see what's happening Real-Time, no be to air the show only on Sunday for just 1 or 2 hours. What were they thinking? Secondly our taste for morality, decency and hardwork has also diminished, that's why people would prefer a nude infested bbn that teaches you almost nothing over GUS. Lastly the host for the show was totally ZERO (0), very very ZERO (0), Toke Makinwa ? Haba, to me it'd have been fair to pick Kate Henshaw over Toke. If that show must stand shoulder to shoulder with bbn then the organisers have a lot of planning to do. |

Merry Christmas to my home land Nigeria, the only place I can call home, I pray things turn around for good soonest. Happy Christmas to everyone who is sick or admitted in the hospital, I pray for speedy recovery. Happy Christmas to all going through stormy waters, I pray the good Lord sees your through and you come out victorious. Happy Christmas to every nairalander, most especially the snake King Lalasticlala and Chief Seun, may God grant you the grace to keep making nairaland a better platform. Finally merry Christmas to every Nigerian in and outside Nigeria, you are the real mvp and our trying times as a nation would be over soon. Merry Christmas !!! |
Dshocker:Lol, relax comrade. In ministerial appointment federal character is always followed. The appointment of the new minister is as a result of the previous minister sacked by Buhari and it is only sane that this same minister is replaced from the same state. So forget it, the next minster he will appoint would also be from the North, so don't be vexed when it happens. It is the law. |
Odidigboigbo:Funny enough I support your comment wholeheartedly, Osibanjo is the only neutral person in APC right now. A good number of northerners would side him over Tinubu, and definitely the South will through their weight behind him. But the issue now is he might be as weak as Jonathan which at this point might be a disaster to the nation. For Nigeria to get better we need a hard handed leader like Obasanjo. |
Myexdisturbs:You are not an Igbo person, keep the tribe out of your mouth |
A party chairman is meant to be neutral, he better do what is right if he wants PDP to stand. |
At this point waiting for the Federal Government or security agents to come to your rescue I belive is a waste of time and effort. These Northern know those perpetrating these terrible acts, they know their sponsors, they support these people and sing their praise all the time. If truly they are tired of the killing and suffering then they should rise up with one voice, tell themselves the truth and fight for what's theirs. We have heard enough press statements, but not a single action has been taken. If the north can rise up the way the south rose up for endsar, I believe they'll make a great impact. The previous administration tried giving them education, so as to reduce out of school kids from roaming the streets and joining insurgents but they called it HARAM and trashed it. Now they are crying. Northern you know your problem face it and deal with it, enough talks, take actions then we'll know you're serious. For now the Northern aren't serious. |
Direct primaries has its pros and cons, same as indirect primaries. One of the cons of direct primaries is the cost implications, the cost of running direct primaries would be very huge for the nations coffers, but then it'll give power to the people. Fact is that the governors are fighting it because then they can't entirely make choice for the people. But bare in mind that these governor can be very desperate and the resources at their disposal is very large that they can do anything and go any extent. Direct primaries can be influenced, na Nigeria we dy, but then let's give it a try and give power back to the people. I am for direct primaries. |

I weep for my generation, to think this is the life style some Nigerias would love to emulate. Its the kids I pity really. |
El-Rufai remains the best thing that has happened to FCT, since his administration there has been no minister that has performed half as well as El-Rufai did. I believe El-Rufai had great plans for those bus services, as they provided cheaper and consistent price rate, secondly El-Rufai had plans to create a lane for the buses just like the brt in a Lagos, infact it was already being implemented before his tenure ended. |

blackpanda:I'm not saying 5k is small, the problem is would it go round ? How many people would have access to this fund ? Wouldn't a majority of this fund be embezzled ? How do they identify the poor ? Both poor in the rural and poor in the urban areas? We haven't even talked about inflation. These policies are not well thought out before implementation, something might work well in other countries or climes because they have strong institutions to handle them and checkmate any discrepancies, but in Nigeria our institutions are very weak. |
I sometimes sit and wonder who comes up with such very silly ideas ? To think Nigeria as a nation has some of the brightest minds the world has ever seen, look at the very silly policies been churned out everyday. This is just a plan to loot our public fund and collective wealth. Just palliative that was asked to be shared couldn't go anywhere, so how do they hope to identify the "poorest of the poor" ? Moreover dishing out money just like that would definitely lead to inflation. 2023 is around the corner and them politicians are seeking means to stake money for campaigns and all.
“He (Tinubu) just came to visit me but actually I have two of them (presidential aspirants) that I have earmarked right from the beginning and I made a vow that anyone of them who came to ask for my support first is the person I would support. Tinubu is the first person.” Tinubu has been patient enough; In 1993, Tinubu supported MKO In 1999, Tinubu supported Olu Falae In 2003, Tinubu supported Obasanjo In 2007 , Tinubu supported Atiku and gave Atiku platform (Action Congress) to contest against Yardua In 2011, Tinubu supported Jonathan In 2015, Tinubu supported Buhari In 2019, Tinubu supported President Buhari In 2023, Everyone must join hands together to support Tinubu
Are we supporting Tinubu because he supported others or are we to support him because we have confidence that he can truly transform Nigeria to the land of our dreams ? |
JAMO84:Come on man, you should know better, the structure Boko Haram has been broken into fragments such as bandits and ISWAP, so the structure isn't as strong as it used to be, but look at the level of insecurity in the nation. At the peak of Boko Haram attacks was Nigeria this unsafe ? |
Tinubu no doubt is a very smart politician, but at this point we do not need BAT as the President of Nigeria, unless we just want a repeat of what we are currently experiencing. To me if Tinubu has Nigeria at heart he should simply support Osibanjo for President, PYO is very capable of that position, he is young, versatile and a unifier. Secondly take Magnus Abe serious at your own peril. He knows Amaechi wants to run for President (confirmed from a very solid source) and is simply doing this to spite Amaechi, as a poster above said, the day they both of them resolve their issue the BAT agenda dies instantly. 2023 indeed will be an interesting year. |
