I got into Toronto a few days ago, on holidays, will be in the US for some time too from next week, come and see "saner climes" na. I just picked up my gadget now to update myself about home. I'm phased, annoying news everywhere. Amotekun, what about it? What happened in Imo today please? I just hope I'm able to see my kids through Secondary School before shipping them out of Nigeria to their "homes", I pray. I have put too much in Nigeria, it saddens me today. Government has never put bread directly on my table, an enabling environment created by them in time past deserves my appreciation today when I reason them side by side this current one.
I won't waste energy right now saying much, but I will just say you guys are the biggest problem of Nigeria, Buharists particularly! Yeah, Nigeria is messed up long ago, but Buhari is the greatest disservice done our dear nation. Nigeria's "turn-around-maintenance" after him will take decades. Kill and shelve that nonsense hope of a better Naija, only a miracle will make that happen, please.... Nail on the head. |

Minxi: @NothingDoMe
No reason was given for the request for medical. Our only worry was that it was sent to only me. But we just assumed it was a recent trip I made to Beirut without hubby.
I was upfront with the fact that I'm pregnant so I wasn't so worried about that
At IOM, you are asked directly to state whether you are pregnant or not. They claim is so that you sign an indemnity form before doing the x-ray. I don't know if they share the pregnancy info with the embassy Yes they share everything with the embassy but that's not going to be an issue since you informed them of it. Anyways congratulations once again. Wishing you safe delivery. |

kennyliza: My final decision is out and it is a refusal, after 4months and 23 days. See attached below reason quoted. What do they mean my documents lack authenticity? I can boldly say all the documents submitted are valid and none are falsified. I am quite confused about this but I Am going to request for my gmc notes to understand their reasons.I am more than determined to reapply and overturned this decision as I have never submitted a falsified document to apply for visa in any country Sorry about the refusal. It is possible that the inconsistency is from your spouse's documents. Sometimes canadian immigration mixes up refusal reasons especially for family applications. While you wait for the GCMS, you can check through all previous forms and supporting documentation. Compare details entered in the forms with documentation submitted. It's also not a bad idea to compare details in your DS-160.. |

Malevonent: Hello house. Is it a must that one should enter the usa tru the city one stated in the d160 form?... How is atlanta poe?..learnt it was harsh b4, is it still same?(childbirth-fully declared in form and during interview) 3rdly, whats the latest date, one shud submit his d160 b4 interview?, As there are some details i want to verify b4 submitting the form. Ie if my interview is on 10th jan for instance, can i hold unto the form till early hours of that 10th or midnight 9th?
I know i hv seen this info somewhere, just cant be sure again As per your 3rd question, some people do this to try and withold certain information before their interview. It doesn't work. I believe your intentions are sincere so you must avoid that pitfall of being mistakenly profiled as having intent to withhold information. |

Demicoker: Still not realistic to me, pay a deposit, wait for when everything is over then pay your balance..this is a more responsibile approach..the embassy to me seem like they want people who can own up to their responsibility going for birth tourism You do understand why I suggest that applicants make full payment right? I believe paying a fraction of the initial stated fee for birthing without the embassy required documents(from regional health authority and hospital admin) reduces your chances of getting that visa. I mean I ask you to bring documents that shows you've made adequate arrangements to pay your bills and you go pay 10% and present me a receipt ONLY. How will I know that you will pay the bills especially if it escalates beyond the initial agreed amount? How? |

Demicoker: I don’t think it’s realistic to drop 20 to 30k CAD to prove that you have the funds, infact to me it’s shows you are desperate and don’t truly have the funds hence the need to pay a large sum to of money..what about other expenses?? Isn't it more likely that someone who deposits a fraction doesn't have the funds? Remember it's just a deposit that would be refunded if all goes as planned. Anyways let's leave the 20kcad aside. How about making full upfront payment to the hospital for the quoted bill? Is this okay with you? |
Travel › Re: Giving Birth In Canada by NothingDoMe: 6:32pm On Dec 06, 2019 |
There's been a lot of awesome responses.
I can sense an undertone in the embassy letter requiring assurance that payment would be made especially in the event of an emergency. What if the applicant deposited $20,000 to $30,000cad with the hospital even if their bill is is way less? This would show that you truly have the funds to give birth in Canada. Except the hospital is not ready to accept excess payments then you can ignore.
Also stating that you have for $60k for birthing and you go ahead and deposit a meagre $500 won't sit well with me if I were a VO. It is one thing to have a lot of money to cover birthing in Canada and it's another thing for you to be willing to spend that amount of money for birthing.
This move by Canadian immigration would reduce birth tourism and those who would default on hospital bill payment. |

ty01: I have a brother and sister in law who are permanent residents in Canada which I was upfront with. I stated this in my cover letter and told the VO I won’t be seeing them because the trip is strictly a family vacation and the logistics of moving ourselves from Ontario to Calgary may be too demanding. Perhaps that’s why the VO didn’t raise my tie to Canada as a problem. Sorry about the refusal. I am intrigued by your application so please permit me to extrapolate based on the information you provided. You stated that you wont be visiting your brother while in Canada and you used the words "strictly for vacation". If that was actually how wrote it, then it could give a wrong impression that you are desperate enough to "deny" your brother to visit Canada especially if the two of you are in constant communication. Further stating that you'd have challenges moving your family from Calgary to Toronto also gives a wrong impression. You've navigated 20 countries successfully and some of those countries with your family. Navigating calgary to toronto shouldn't be stated as a challenge. I believe your letter played a huge role in this refusal. Maybe you were trying to avoid a refusal from family ties in Canada. I don't think it would have been a problem considering your excellent profile. I wish you success in your next application. |

I saw the request by the embassy to provide proof that formal arrangements have been made to pay for health services in Canada. I noticed that they mention hospital administration and regional health authority.
My questions. Will payment to the hospital meet this requirement? Is the hospital administration and regional health authority one and the same? If they are not the same then how does one get official documents from the regional health authority? |

No matter the length of time that information has been there it is still not as important as having a good conscience. Not everyone has access to the law. But we all have access to our conscience. What is right and what is wrong. Truly, Nairaland is a good platform to divulge information. It is also a good platform to reactivate dead consciences. |

skdfu747: Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab popularly referred to as the "Underwear Bomber", is a Nigerian man who, at the age of 23, confessed to and was convicted of attempting to detonate plastic explosives hidden in his underwear while on board Northwest Airlines Flight 253, en route from Amsterdam to Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas Day, 2009.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umar_Farouk_Abdulmutallab
Tell me what background check was done on this individual. The Umar Farouk incident introduced more stringent security checks that evolved over the years. Majority of the security checks now aim to be proactive rather than reactive. As for the US Visa application, i believe that there are background checks but not all will yield actionable Intel. In this case the visa officer has to rely heavily on the interview to make a decision. This is where People who are skilled in deception hoodwink the Visa officer. Many unsuspecting VOs have fallen victims to sweet talking to the jeopardy of their career. Maybe that's why some interviews are so brief. They take their decision before you can sweet talk them into taking a chance on you. |
