How many church members of yours who stole money has been reported to the police? Have you ever reported the adulterers, fornicators, paedophiles and rapists to the police? And that is if they actually committed the crime you accused them of they are still ought to be bailed.

If a pastor or a church member does any of these (except adultery / fornication) the church reserves the right to report to the authorities. Stealing, rape etc are crimes I doubt fornication / adultery is it's more of a moral issue.
Yes they ought to be released on bail but what is happening in this case can happen and it will be no fault of those who report the crime.

No one is preventing you from exercising your rights as a citizen but a church should be able to handle matters among themselves and not taking members to court/police if they are truly members of the body of Christ.

With the way christains (especially in Nigerian churches ) commit all sorts these days, hiding under religion to wreak havock, it's better to let the law take its course on criminal minded matters. Adultery fornication malice etc can be handled in house but FRAUD, rape and the likes should be reported and the church should never be castigated for that.

May God deliver unbelievers from joining places of worship that would compound their problems instead of bring peace and solution.

As for the OP he is on his own, any body that commits a crime within or without the church it is proper to report to the law enforcement. Steal money and be expecting not the church not to report to the police, even the ones in church that defile children are reported to the law enforcement, rape you will be reported. The only thing wrong is this story is asking people to avoid him which I doubt any Church will do.

Discipline is needed everywhere, and a lot of Nigerians are not disciplined we do not like consequences for our actions and it has crept into the church, you do the wrong thing you get disciplined. And removal from your position as a head is part of it, if you cannot take discipline and become a floor member without your post then your christainity itself is to be questioned.

It's that removal from position that pains we Nigerians the most, it's the pride and ego that comes with it that is painful to most people, 'how can I who used to stand at the altar now told I can't climb the pulpit and minister for 6 months' ' How can I be suspended' etc etc you really expect to continue being a church leader after all that? No way.

Serve your punishment and Continue your work for God after the alloted time but no way pride will never allow.

It's this same attitude that make Nigerians believe they can steal from churches and they should not be reported to the law enforment agencies.
