Afam,no mind Abagworo cause he knows better. Maybe the guy don pay nwa Ngwa visit and he sliped somefing in his mmanya! |
Its not really that bad cause even some Anambra guys marry Imo,Abia and Abia chics. I have the the idea that will make Ndigbo more united but it isnt something that I will spill here. |
Abagworo, you have just created an avenue for this deranged Chinenyen to push his never to acomplished clannish agenda. And you can see how some yoruba people here who know next to nothing about Igbo people are praising his divisive agenda. As for OHANEZE1, you dont have manners at all and I have my face buried in the sand when I figured ur Anambrarian. You should come back and apologise to everybody here for insulting Umiigbo !!! |
Abagworo, what has come over you ? In my hometown umuoji, there is this village some people from my village make fun of and call them "akagbe“,which means untrustworthy. So,Abagworo that occurence is obtainable everywhere, nwannem. Do you know that onitsha people discriminate against each other. |
My fellow Igbos, I want to use this medium to ask you guys to stop bringing yoruba people into our discusions. Do you think they care abt your unity ? Isnt this the same people who make mockery of how innocent Igbo women and children were masacrered in the war! The only thing they care about is ur BEAUTIFUL women, thats only when they kiss ur ass! Do not allude them dignity by using them to make examples. It gives them great joy that Igbos mentioned them. But you guys will not listen, until they start insulting us. I have never in my life seen yoruba people as important. I have lots of them as friends and they know we Igbos are more mannered and inteligent than most of them. Leave these lots alone and stop discusing them. Left for me alone, I will device means to overpower them economically and bring them to their knees. Igbos learn, learn and learn !!!! |
Let me hit the track and I will be back to deal with chinenyen and ohanaeze1. |
Abagworo, why u fall my hand nah ? I have always respected ur views and study on the Igbo people. I am an Anambra boy, I am proud of it but I am also nt more Igbo than an Owerri man. Trully, Igbos are not homogeneous. We all came from a different stock. We have Nri/Awka,Olu,Oru,Isu,but we speak intelligible amongst us and didnt happen by accident! I strongly believe that we originated from the same root but breakaway at some point, hence the dialects in our language. |
whoever that is calling for the abolition of ''dowry paying'' should be locked up in a psychiarist hospital, get tied up and instantly checked! why dont you call for the abolition of ''white wedding'' like IFYALWAYS suggested? this is our culture and we will keep it,if you cant pay bride price then you shouldnt be getting married in the first place!! However, you can always crossover to the southwest and take a wife cause they dont pay DOWRY. |
what i wanna know is who the hell made this clown ''EZE NDIGBO''? This is getting out of hand, eze ndigbo everywhere!! Its becoming redundant. |
Lakal, round of applause. You are such a disgusting gentleman! You came over here and start spewing rubbish u knw nothing about. You stated that the "fluffy" garment worn by the AGBOGIDI was of benin origin and I countered you on that one and explained to you that such attire is also worn by Idemmilis, but I didnt get any reaction. U claimed the sword originated from benin and I told you that we also have it in Idemmili. Again, I didnt get ur response! And all of a sudden u realized it doenst worth a discussion after you have discovered that your claims doesnt hold a drop of water!!! Keep it moving, yaribo boy. |
It has been proven to you that Agbada was not invented by the yorubas but you choose to be STUPID!! U better learn from ur yoruba sister Tipia. |
Lakal, its either you have accepted defeat on the claims you made about benin influence or you didnt read my posts!! As for Ileke Idi she will rather start playing dumb than to accept defeat. Even your yoruba king went as far as wearing the slave masters HAT so he can feel like he is a king. Obulu ogwu nya elena. |
The benins wear their beads differently from the way Igbos wear theirs. . .take a look at the benin chief and compare it to the onitshas. They use some kind of string to keep it round while the Igbo wear theirs gracefully. |
Lakal, let me keep ur mind straight here because I am from Idemmili who are the closest neighbor to onitsha people and the rightful owner of the land onitsha people live in today. That cloth the oba benin and obi of onitsha was wearing originated from idemmili which was an Nri offshoot,so, My friend its not benin own because Nri existed about 1000yrs before the benin found there first ogiso. Secondly, if you look at the way Igbos wear their beads and compare it to the benins you will see a big difference. I have explained the sword,so,read my three previous post. The only similarity I found was the way onitsha and benin women wear their wrapper. southeastern, are usually conservative and don't expose their upper body. |
Lakal, the sword didnt originate from benin. In Idemmili, there an ancient masqurade called "AGABA",the Agaba holds that sword whenever it goes to burial and his entourage carries it too. One more thing; that masqurade Agaba originated from war triumph of Umunri. So,get ur facts right before u post. Who told you that "george" originated from delta ? 90% of those cultures and traditions of delta Igbo originated from Nri. Capish? |
I know it must have bruised your heart very badly to know tha omo Igbo aint copying anybodys attire and to know that no single yoruba attire was witnessed there! Am sure you must have wished the above attire were of the yorubas and not Igbos!! Here is my advice; keep dreaming, fool. On the yoruba Obas pix u posted; if my logic works fine for me, I will have to conclude that yoruba obas dont have a kingly attire of yoruba origin!!! The hat ooni was wearing belongs to the hausas. The agbada was borrowed from hausa and their sahelian cousins!!! Go get ur own, ileke. |
As soon as she says hello and I recognizes her voice, I will say; Nne,omalicha, ezi ogeli or I will call her by the second alphabet of her first name and she will chuckle and say; beebii or she will say "my king". Now, thats the one that feeds my ego to the sky!! Love nwanti-nti. |
Ileke Idi, the agbada you are refering to was invented by the Hausa but its the Yorubas borrowed it and made it famous among themselve. Though the Igbos wear it sometime but not as much as Yorubas do. As far as we know those men could be from Igala or Idoma kingdoms,so,till then those men aint from ya place. Inugo ? |
Ifyalways, I think you may just be about right. I spoke to one Ozo man from here and he says it actually can gulp few milla to my surprise. But it never used to cost that much, maybe its because things has gotten a bit pricy these days. But I do remenber Chief Oliver De Coque saying that "onye na ejiro ego anaghi aza nwa nze" Ozo,trully cost money! I am looking forward to the day I will bestow an Ozo on my first son (when he is born) and call him "UGO NNIA" Ifyalways, there is another top grade OZO in Umuoji called "Ugo nabo",this one is strictly for rich people. Every Ozo group attend when an Ugo nabo is taken. In Umuoji, Ozo ugonabo is probably the highest in rank. I dont quite know the difference between Agbalanze and Ugonna but there is usually only one Agbalanze in each village in Umuoji while there are multiple Ugonabo in every village. UMU-NRI DI USO. |
Ileke idi, so,u mean to tell me that those hats wore by the two gentlemen are the kind yoruba obas wear ? This old maid is really sich. Anyway I knw u hate Igbos with everything in you but I dont wanna curse you cause the curse ravaging ur pathetic life is good enough to place you 6ft under, akwuna ten kobo!! |
Ileke idi, sorry to spoil ur fun but those people arent yorubas. Igbos dont usually invite yorubas to our festivals and ceremonies cause we dont have cultural ties. |
Ezeagu, those people arent Igbos. They are probably guests from another tribe. |
ChinenyeN, I strongly believe that u are a very, very sad SHORT Ngwa man !! For somebody who vowed to never speak Igbo If ever his ngwa dialect was to be given up for a one united Igbo language!! Yea,he said it. The Ngwa deluded monkey says " I rather speak english than Igbo should my okwu Ngwa be given up for one united Igbo language" UMUIGBO I ADMONISH YOU TO JOIN HANDS TOGETHER AND OSTRASIZE THIS BETRAYING,STUBBORN AND RECALCITRANT FELLOW CALLED CHINENYEN NGWA!! He has brought unpardonable SHAME,DISGRACE,DISCORD,CONFUSION and has brought Ndigbo unwarranted taunt and mockery from OUR unrepentant multitudes of enemies!! Plesase, every Igbo person should reject and denounce CHINENYEN NGWA right now!! He has made everybody on nairaland to look at us as an ununited people. UMUIGBO,DENOUNCE AND REJECT CHINENYEN NGWA,NOW!!! |
Ifyalway Igwe nwanyi bu ndu, in Umuoji we have "osu's" too and they can also take an Ozo too but I have to consult my father to find out how its given to them. There is a very wealthy clan that settled in Umuoji in the 18th century, though they are now Umuoji peeps but they can never gain the traditional right to confer an Ozo title on themselves or anybody, rather it has to be given to them. So,just because Onitsha people doesnt give titles to orus as u call it or to outsiders doesnt mean its not done by the original inventors of the prestigious Nze na Ozo cultural Heritage, the most revered, Sacred, Nri Kingdom !! |
Ifyalways, I know that you are a "NWADIANI",but it doesnt make you an authority in the Ozo traditions. If you want to lavish 1 million dollars for ur Ozo taking its your money. If you want to spend 500,000 naira its still an Ozo. The only difference there is the size of the ceremony, period!! |
Physicsmhd, I lived and schooled in Benin for 4yrs and I have witnessed some scary festival celebrated by the Benin people. I dont remember most of these festivals but any none Benin person who has lived there wont have problems understanding my point. Secondly, I am still waiting for you to prove to me that Eze Nri sacrificed his son fo some yam festival as ur side-kick ChinenyeN puts it. Are you sure this isnt a myth ? Well,if isnt, prove it to me!! |
ileke idi,you must not have a boy friend to p, h, u, c, k your uncultured useless life back to reality!!! i really think insulting igbos gives you mind blowing o, r, g, a, s, m. But please go find a d, i, l, d, o and leave the Igbos alone. . .u are worse that Tipia. |
ileke idi,you must not have a boy friend to bang ur uncultured useless self to silence!!! i really think insulting igbos gives you orgasm. |
AK47mann,if my memory serves me right i think that feathered head gear is worn only by the kings cabinet. . . an ozo holder is not allowed to wear those and thats why there is few of them here. i really think onitsha people has done a lot of work to keep this prestigious culture alive. . . i feel very proud knowing that the cultures and traditions our ancestors is still alive and envied!!! |
Odumchi, u also dont have to be an Anambrarian to take an Ozo title!!! If you know the people and their culture and you are ready to accept their culture and blend with it,you can actually take the Ozo title but it had to be performed by NDI ISI OZO. I remenber a man from Imo state who had lived in my hometown for over 40yrs and has literally become an OKODUAN. I noticed that he was taking an Ozo title in one of my travels to my home town and I asked my father what bleep is going on and he told me that mr Anya is taking an Ozo and I asked how can he do that if he isnt from Umuoji. And my father stated that he has encultultrated in Umuoji and that he wrote to almost all the organisation in Umuoji including the royal house, giving them reason why they should bestow an Ozo title on him. But to get one thing straight, such man and his decendants can never become an ISI OZO, and we have a lot of cases like that in Umuoji. |
Odumchi, yes Ozo is luxury and not for a financially struggling family. There are some Ozo that will gulp almost 800,000 naira, especially OZo Agbalanze. let say what you saw in the movie you saw was exaggerated,Ozo doesnt have to cost more than 500,000 naira. Dont worry Odumchi if I ever get to know you better I will surely invite you to one. The ceremony is usually beautiful, glamorous and very colorful with rich families displaying their Igbo attire know-how. |
Odumchi, this is all good for the eyes, but let me ask you;dont you guys wear the famous Igbo beads as worn by the Onitsha people? And what about the feathers? The regalia looks nice but it could have looked more rich if they were beads and feathers!! I want to know more about the EKPE society. Is it a masqurade with members or is it a chieftaincy title group like Nze na Ozo ? |
