Wait! Wait !! Wait!!!

"we expect our full year 2015 profit in US dollar terms to be lower than the nine-months to 2015 reported profit."

We need either the ability to short stocks or the SEC needs to sit up... Management and Directors are really taking shareholders for a ride

Every broker does this na..

ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS TO PUT IN YOUR SELLING PRICE N THEIR TRADING MACHINE..

once it gets to that price it goes on sale...but pray that the day it gets there is not the day the stock is on offer and there are no bids..
How can I do this with Morgan Itrade? Didn't see the option online... Do I have to call them or send an email?

Nice one Chief... It would really be great if you share a list of Nigerian brokers that offer Margin Facilities and short selling here.

More Gizzards to our Chickens This week! grin
Investment One offers Margin Facilities limited to 50% of your portfolio's realisable value with an APR of about 30%. I don't know of any brokers that offer the ability to short sha.

That's been the only the holding me back from trading the NSE...
Please share the information with me as well... I would like to participate in Short Selling one or two stocks as well...(they know themselves)

what do u mean by this. I bought a stock recently and sold same day. Made 12%
That is not short selling, that is called day trading.

Short selling is when you borrow stocks from you broker and sell them, you are betting that the stock price will go down (not up) and then you can buy them back cheaper and return to the broker while you keep your profit.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by NuttyChoky(m): 4:49pm On Mar 13, 2016
WeNigerDelta:
I think I understand what JIJO means, it's pretty much what we call trading the MOMO, follow the trend of a stock for a quick 5, 10, 15 or 20% profit, it's also called scalping.
Short selling on the other hand is the opposite of a long position. In a long position you want the stock to go up and you make money when that happens. Short is the reverse, you want the stock to go down and make money when it does...
No Nigerian broker currently does short-selling because the SEC expressly forbids it...

Even order types are very limited (<10)

Those of us buying oando well done I know wale tinubu very well he will recover the over N200 billion loss and even make more profits. You will see the magic that will happen on the 2015 audited result. I expect N1 dividend from oando before may 2016. Do due diligence.
So they will reverse their Q3 15 YTD loss of about N48billion in just one Quarter, and do well as to pay N1? Thank you for this information sir!

I wonder why people are buying Oando sha...

If they have a hedge in place then the increases in the oil price below the hedge price will not affect them (fundamentally)...

Anyway, maybe I will enter in two years if they are still around grin

Nigeria is currently in a recession... at least as far as the latest NBS GDP numbers show...

All I'm thinking about is recession-proof investments that come rain come sun will give me my required return on capital...

So far I'm long on AFRIPRUD and NEM ...

Can the house share any other suggestions I can do DD on?

Thanks

I have notice something in this Nse.. Do u know that it is possible for you to make 100% with small stocks or penny stocks than all this big once... The only problem dey have is that they are not fundamentally sound but with good DD u can enter @the bottom
I think the main two lessons I have learnt are;

1) Buy you a good stock and you can go to sleep regardless of market direction

2) JIJO is stressful

After experiencing 2008 sha... my greed get limits

Hello All,

So I have been having some thoughts on valuations...

How can FBNH and AFRIPRUD be having similar share prices - ie. N3.7 vs N3.4?

Does it have to do with the outstanding shares?

I'm asking because FBNH has full ownership of a slew of businesses including FBN Registrars (which can go head to head with AFRIPRUD), a profit making banking subsidiary, one of the largest insurance companies (after they bought Oasis insurance) as well as FBN Capital

Or am I missing something?

I have set a investment threshold... I'm not too greedy... Once I hit my set premium, I exit... I have exited AFRIPRUD, TIGERBRANDS and now UBA...

Waiting for the rest...

After earnings season I put my money in bonds or Afriprud... Shikena

Hey house!

I recently stumbled upon the results of some Insurance Companies for last year and they did rather well especially the following:-

Custodian & Allied
Law, Union & Rock
Mansard
N.E.M.
Unity Kapital
Niger Insurance

But I then went to their stock history and was disappointed. Some of them seem to have paid dividend in the recent past like Custodian, N.E.M. and Niger yet they still had poor stock price trade and history. So what gives? Please anyone who knows more about the insurance sector should help out in explaining what would seem like an enigma to a newbie like me.

Responses would be appreciated.
I honestly don't know the reason why, but on a hunch I have loaded on Mansard and NEM.

NEM's cash balance as at Q3 per share was almost equal to the SP then... then it's P/E also looks good

But I think someone mentioned that they have tight hand when it comes to dividends
