Wu Zetian: You must have me mistaken.

I haven't said anything like that. In fact I've tried to focus on issues that does not really address what the thread is about until now undecided

And who is the guy?? Just gibberish as usual. Take your stup1d self out of this thread, you can't possibly comprehend anything on here anyway undecided
Oh my bad, attributing it to you. To think I was reading between the feminist lines. I forgot you simply copied and pasted.

Read the "advantages" part again. The major idea is that a man in such a society can do certain things without being answerable (very much unlike his female contemporaries). How does that not scream irresponsibility? Or do I have to post all the definitions of 'responsibility' first?

You are always in a hurry to get antagonistic, not that I care.

Anyway, chillax, I'd leave the thread when I wish to. It's a man's world, site and thread. The female op doesn't matter much.

@sholly, you made (unusually) reasonable points. I agree that the patriarchal 'privilege' is part of reason there are more than a few irresponsible men. Some men like to be called 'superior' to the female folk without anything meaningful to show for it. The point though highly exaggerated, is true.

Still, women have their gender-based privileges, which feminists turn a blind eye to, most notably is getting away with many things while hiding in the shadow of being naturally weaker. Other people have listed many of them already.

In the end, nature makes it so... The collective responsibility of the male-folk is the reason for this 'privilege' which they also share collectively. Despite anyone's stance on the issue, there still is a weaker sex... And feminism is still a bundle of confused contradictions.

P.S: No guy has begrudged me for a full year on NL. Any guy that does it would be quickly tagged 'sisi'. But you can, and have. It's a 'Shollypops privilege'.

phurlabby: Lol! In as much as I know it's a man's world, women really do enjoy benefits that men can only dream of.

We need to stop wasting time on this issue of gender equality but rather focus on gender equity. One of my favourite lecturers at Babcock University, Prof. Opeke explained in detail the difference and gave a quick test in class that day, while teaching she asked that our tables and chairs be moved back - immediately all the girls got up and left the job for the "men". There and then she pointed out that if it was money being shared now they will scream equality but when it came to hardwork it was left to the men. Same with other aspects of our society, women will only scream when they aren't getting the better deal ( I mean, at Tennis grandslams women play the best of three sets while men play the best of five all for equal pay).

Equality deals with treating everyone as the same, but even the staunchest of feminists will agree that men and women can never be the same, be it biologically or any other way so why bother?

Equity however deals with treating people equally with respect to their differences. Is it somewhat impractical? Probably, but it is a better option than banging on about equality when clearly we aren't. As Opeke would say "Equality is about buying the same action toys for ur male and female children but Equity means buying barbies and other female-oriented playthings for your daughter which cost the same as the action toys you get your son.
Seriously, I love this!
Sums everything up quite nicely. Would be a sin not to hit the like button.

[quote author=Foxy_Flow]Oahray, see, I don't have anything against her but I was frustrated when I read all those many things that she wrote down. And then to think that two judges who are supposed to communicate with each other via PMs wants to start a showdown of who is of greater knowledge when it comes to literature.

I don't care if they both are moderators, this is the literature section.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Most Nigerians Prefer Paying Tithes To Taxes? by Oahray: 4:50pm On Sep 27, 2013
Because most 'church-goers' are very greedy and selfish, and only give because their pastors tell them that is their only gateway to material prosperity. They only profess to follow Jesus too.

Well... The government does not promise any personal reward for paying taxes.
