Alpha males try to paint a picture of themselves, because deep down they feel insecure, that they would be looked down upon if they acted otherwise. They try too hard to look all tough, but somewhere inside is a baby aching for reassuring cuddles.

It's like this... Some peeps try to belittle others because they feel it makes them look stronger or smarter. Have you read Things fall apart? Okonkwo was an alpha male, and he killed Ikemefuna because he was afraid of being thought weak. It's the same for many alpha males... Fear...

The reason I asked is because I noticed many girls in your shoes are not as zealous when talking to the guy in question as they are in discussing it with friends.

Here is how I see it. You guys had a bad breakup probably not the first. You are done with him, but he isn't done yet. I might be wrong, but whatever the case, you need to create the right impression.

Look at where you first got it wrong... You waited for him to ask first before saying "a clear no". It's easy for him to interprete it as: "Leamme, I'm still upset with you", and try to worm his way back. Wrong impression. How about an "I'm done with you, no vacancy" impression? You start by showing him you have moved on (not by parading a new bf, since it's easy for him to think you just want to make him jealous).

When he calls again, pick it up. Then ask "who is this?", as if you do not have his number anymore. That's the 1st step, show him he isn't so special anymore. Make sure he identifies himself for the fun of it, then control the conversation in a very firm voice, but keep it short. Tell him clearly to stop wasting his time calling as you guys do not have anything to talk about, then end the call.
