Most political parties and politicians are 'evil'; they are selfish, liar, corrupt, opportunists, etc, including the most advanced democracy in the developed countries. What keep political parties/politicians in check is the fear of being voted out of power by the people, so they try to do better than the other party for the people. That is why it is better for the people to always have a strong alternative.

It is in this light I strongly welcome APC. Even if they dont win (though I strongly hope they do), at least PDP will know it can no longer be 'business as usual'.

Having two strong parties is good for the polity. At least Nigerians have a choice of voting the lesser evil party at every point in time, thereby forcing the more evil party to start doing more good than evil in other to regain power. Overall the citizens will be better for it. This of course is only true if majority of the people do not vote on some stupid sentiments only.

PhysicsQED: Well, no, I just thought the lecture was very interesting and thought others should read it.

This is not to say that I agree with "regurgitating every thing written by a European," because I don't agree with that, but I didn't post this to pass on any subtle message to anyone on NL.

Besides, his piece to a large extent was correcting some of the things believed and written by some Europeans
