Hello guys good day, as a professional web developer, I have learnt some programing languages like JavaScript, php and python in my 3 years journey. I have worked with JavaScript more than the others, JavaScript is broad and has several cool frameworks ,libraries like jQuery and React. One thing i love about JavaScript is its versatility, it can be used for full stack projects and it is also very efficient.
So guys what is your favorite programming language and why?

Gourdoinc: there is no much future in tech like you presume. the next 30 years will show that. if you are wise and want relevance, always stick to anything human-centric. technology changes, humans never change. health will continue to worsen as we move into the future, go and get involved in health related domains with a focus on mitigation and care and you will have a future everyone will envy. leave the Fad called tech, it doesn't hold as much water as people ascribe it.
Tech isn't going any where, the technologies will just advance maybe semi automated or fully automated like artificial intelligence. Maintenance will also be needed, going into tech from accounting 2 years ago was one of the best decisions of my life

Since the pandemic and the popularization of remote work, it's no longer news that western tech companies now look to source talents from Africa and Some parts of Asia. The rationale is to cut cost.
A recruiter that recruits for some of these tech companies recently told me that they no longer disclose potential salary budget to candidates from Africa, especially Nigeria.
She mentioned that they are always shocked at the salary expectations of candidates. She went further to state that 9 out of 10 candidates from Africa request for between 20% to 80% below the budget of the companies( Even though the company is already saving a lot by recruiting from Africa). And the fact that she mentioned Nigeria specifically got me a little angry.
Why tf will you guys be asking for $500/month for a software development role no matter whether its entry level or not? What values do you place on yourself? Just because you live in Nigeria? A cleaner does not even get paid $500/month in those companies. Do you feel good knowing the colleague you'll be working with is earning ×5 of what you're being paid and you're probably even adding more value. Don't you get angry?
The painful part is that some of these companies didnt even offer to pay you these miserable salaries, you requested it yourself.
Sometime ago, on another thread here on NL, on the same topic of remote job compensation, some folks came to the thread with alot of justification why $500/month is a good offer. They cited exchange rate, poverty rate in Nigeria, how there's no job and every other pathetic reasons why they should slave away to a western company. I can't even begin to reason the ones that are hawking their "skills" here on NL offering to build a full fledged e-commerce site with integrated payment solutions for 10k naira.
I don't care what you say, if you know your shit and have good self esteem, you can earn as much as $4k/month. Before you come here and start reciting all the impossibilites in your books, know that I'm writing from a position of knowledge. I have statistics and real life examples to substantiate this figure. I myself have been working remotely even before the pandemic.
I wouldn't have bothered to even write, but this development is now coming back to bite some of us just because we answer the name Nigerian.
Ridiculous how people want to earn that low doiing remote jobs. I believe research on companies should be part of applicants priority when applying for jobs or interview. Most have earned similar salaries in Nigeria as developers for years and are used to earning such pay. Developers are highly underpaid in Nigeria that's a fact.

Learning programming is good but I still think earning atleast a bachelor's degree on your journey is not a bad idea especially in related Fields like computer science, information technology or data science.

This has however brought mixed feelings to employees, some have seen this as a means to become self employed while others have been triggered to even leave the country for good.

One has milked Nigeria well enough systematically, and just wants to answer President by all means. He lives in Dubai full-time and only comes around every 4 years to contest for the Presidency.
He doesn't understand the struggle of the average Nigerian. He doesn't care so much. If he loses this one, he will go back to Dubai and wait out the next 4 years before coming out again.
Besides the fact that his ambition is scary, we can't afford to have a Paul Biya of Cameroun as President.
Another has been controlling Lagos treasury since 2003. He just wants to fulfill his lifetime political ambition of answering President, even if he dies the next day after swearing-in.
He would properly share Nigeria like cake to his boys....just like he did in Lagos. At the end of the day, he would teach us what being "fantastically corrupt" actually means.
The other was already a billionaire before 2003, and quite content with himself. He doesn't need your money for anything. He wants to be President to reset things and lay the foundation for systemic governance in future.
He relates with the struggles of the average Nigerian, understands what Nigeria needs, and has volunteered himself to save us from impending catastrophe. Win or lose, he would most likely not contest again.
It is up to us to choose wisely.
