omonnakoda: It is totally irrelevant because no two trained observers with the same training will choose the same suspects in any series systematically. It has absolutely no objective value. Now even if comportment does have any value it is an entirely different proposition which you postulated ie comportment in its interaction with seeing the poster about death . There is no evidence that the poster will produce a change in comportment consistently. Youu are just making assertions that have no basis either in evidence or logic The reality is in life it is impossible to test unless on any given flight every single passenger is searched . That is the group we need to know about how many people that were NOT searched carried drugs assuming that a search is 100% effective which is yet another unproven assumption. If one arrest is made and 45 people get away that is not great. Certainly many people are getting away and that is why they persist and there are drugs in Indonesia Am afraid but am not sure if u and I are still on the same page, for u appear to be all over the map. My communication has been very clear and concise from the beginning. Going back to those 5 brothers u created, i repeat the observer should be asked to guage the comportment of 5 brothers who just learnt of their Dad's passing and 5 brothers who didnt in whats called a blinded model, to see if the pattern observed has any bearing with internal mechanism. My last call |

omonnakoda: create a thread if you wish to discuss experiments do not derail the thread. I would very gladly join. What is being tested is not the brothers but the raters so much for your knowledge of experiment design !!. The experiment is to test a tool eg two thermometers and we take five eggs and boil them for 20 minutes at 100 degrees and then check what the two thermometers tell us. According to your design we need another set of eggs that are not boiled? very funny . There is no need for another set of 5
the bottomline is that there is no known technique to man of reliably interpreting human demeanour in a predictable and consistent way across different observers. The fact that a person's demeanour changes when they pass the sign may not have anything to do with the sign. They may not even see it and if their demeanour does change the observer may not spot it. I have no interest in creating a thread about nothing and am sorry, but u are the one derailing the original issue. The bottomline has always been, whether a person's demeanour could be picked up by a trained observer and if it can be factored into a decision to pick them for questioning or not. You claim demeanour is immaterial and choosing to pick someone for questioning is based sorely on some random algorithm. I hope u have travelled well. U came up with the five brothers analogy, which is deeply flawed, to prove there is no meaningful diference in demeanour between a carrier and non carrier when they see that warning. The comparism is between two sets of people. Those who have something to hide (drug carriers or in your analogy persons who just learnt of their Dad' s passing) and those who are clean ( non drug carriers and in my view the control). Unwittingly u have introduced a serious bias in your subject selection by examining a subject group without a control to see if the pattern observed bears any relation or correlation. I repeat, comportment is a key factor in the decision to pick someone for questioning or not. Again your experimental design of 5 brothers is defective and biased. U should choose a wider population group and a control is necessary. The observer should be asked to guage the comportment of 5 brothers who just learnt of their Dad's passing and 5 brothers who didnt in whats called a blinded model, to see if his observation has any bearing with internal mechanism. My last call |

omonnakoda: In one word yes
1)message is irrelevant. If you take 5 brothers and tell them their beloved father died and take photographs and then show them to experts to tell you which one has just been bereaved they will not be more accurate than tossing a coin 2) Whether there is a change in demeanour is affected by so many variables as to make it useless and even if their is a change the human capacity to detect it is not reliable or consistent. . 3) Among the Officials Interrater interpretation of demeanour will not be consistent. ie two officials who receive the same training will NOT interpret demeanour the same Some non drug carriers may even act MORE suspiciously on seeing the message There is no meaningful or scientific way of interpreting human demeanour or using it as predictive of anything . Anyone who can do tht would be the richest person alive
A simple experiment would be to search every 10th passenger randomly and compare that with those pulled over by trained officials and compare which scores the greatest hits I am not sure what experimental model your so called experiment is based on, but u will have a hard time convincing me about this. I am well versed in experiments and right off the park, your experimental design regarding the 5 brothers is deeply flawed. Where is your control? U should be comparing the pictures of those 5 brothers with another set of brothers who received no such terrible news. If u think passengers are picked randomly for drug searches without regard to their demeanor or comportment, then believe it for I have no interest in convincing u otherwise. However, I doubt u have a lot of willing believers |

omonnakoda: Ad your demeanour will not change if you are not carrying.? It has no greater predictive value than tossing a coin!! You stop 10 people you catch one. You have no way of knowing how many are in the 10 you do not stop. In fact the drug cartels can send people to change demeanour just to distract them so let us leave story. They have a PROFILE they are trained to look for but that profile has limited validity If I understand u well, the demeanor is the same for drug carriers and non drug carriers on seeing that message? |

For those asking if it is made or a assembled in Nigeria, be informed that no car is 100 percent made in any country. The car components are most times outsourced to smaller companies that are often based overseas. Granted what innoson is doing now is mostly assemblage, but with more experience and good vision, the local content manufacturing will expectedly increase. If we can get 25% local content manufacturing in the near future that is a significant progress but the good work has started and should be encouraged not derided |

Expensive for an unknown made in nigeria car. Am not saying the car is inferior but it has to be made very affordable to the average Nigerian to enjoy a decent level of patronage and with time, the price can inch up when it has carved out its market share. Problem with Nigerian busineses is they want to make their money upfront. The priority should be to gain significant acceptance and confidence by users and then prosper in the back end |

Politics › Re: African Countries Happy Over President Jonathan’s Defeat – Obasanjo by obinto: 8:27pm On Apr 24, 2015 |
Novaworld: Former president, Olusegun obasanjo, on Thursday said countries across the african continent are happy over the outcome of the presidential election in Nigeria, which saw the defeat of incumbent president Goodluck jonathan.
Mr. obasanjo said his checks in a number of african countries suggested they were as happy over the result of the election as majority of Nigerians are.
He referred to president Goodluck jonathan as a moving train who was providentially stopped from collapsing Nigeria. “I have visited six countries since the election, they are as happy about the results as we are in Nigeria. It is good not only for Nigeria, it is good for Africa and I believe it is good for the world.”
Mr. obasanjo, who led the african Union Observation Mission to the April 2015 General Election in Sudan, spoke on Thursday at a Washington DC event.
The former president described Nigeria as a country that obsessively plays “a dangerous game of moving close to the precipice”.
He said the country came close to disintegration in the run-up to the 2015 elections but switched swiftly to the path of redemption after the polls.
“I hope we will not fall over one of these days,” he said.
He said one month to the election, no one believed “we will have a peaceful election that is reasonably free and fair.”
Describing his role in the election as that of a person standing on the track of a moving train, the former president said during the countdown to the elections, he faced the option of “jumping off” the tracks or “be crushed” if the train did not providentially get “derailed and stop.”
He said he did not jump and was not crushed adding that “at every stage, there must be leaders imbued with sufficient courage and will to stand firm when you have to stand firm.”
He described the results of the elections as what Nigerians “deserve” though some Nigerians “did not want it”.
Mr. obasanjo was the featured speaker at the United States Institute for Peace (USIP) event titled What is Right with Africa: Reframing Africa’s Leadership Challenges.
He made these remarks in response to a question by Princeton Lyman, a former ambassador to Nigeria.
Mr. obasanjo observed that Nigeria’s tendency to flirt with near-death experiences stretches back to colonial times when it almost cost the country the chance of gaining political independence from Britain.
Recalling colonial-era disagreements over self-rule, the former president said at a stage, advocates of self-rule from the Eastern and Western Regions decided to “let the North go” since their leaders were reluctant to accept regional autonomy back then.
“But reason prevailed,” he said, “East and West got internal autonomy in 1957, North got same in 1959 and the whole country got independence in 1960.”
Listing the 1964 post-election violence in the south west and the 1966 coup d’etats which led to “pogrom and civil war” as other self-destructive phases in the country’s history, the former president remarked that Nigeria emerged from all of these as “one entity” in spite of contrarian speculations.
“Not only did we survive the civil war but, within nine years, somebody from the rebel side, as we called them, and somebody from the vandal side, as they called us, became president and vice-president of Nigeria. Not many countries achieve that,” he said.
president obasanjo described the 2015 election as “almost in the same category” as other near-death experiences in Nigeria’s history.
He said one month to the election, no one believed “we will have a peaceful election that is reasonably free and fair.”
“I think we are now building institutions that can withstand what we may see as danger to good governance in Africa. The election has moved Nigeria one very important step up in our democratic dispensation, process and practice.”

Thandolwethu: I start by imploring you to read this letter with an open and unbiased mind as this will enable you grab the full gist of my message. I am a full blooded South African, born and bread in Soweto. I have never been to Nigeria and my impression of your Country is formed by the behaviour and actions of the many Nigerians who live in SA and what we hear and read from the media about the goings on in your country. I deliberately joined Nairaland today as I noted that alot of you are on this Forum hence its a good platform to pass my message. Suffice it to say that i will delete this account after this message. I will read your responses with keen interest.
1. There is no question that there was xenophobic attack on Foreigners in SA in the past 3weeks. What is in doubt is the scale of the attack. I have noted that Nigerians have overtly blown the crises out of proportion by spreading lies and wrong informatiom concerning the crisis. The idea that South Africans are going round SA cities killing, maiming and burning Foreigners is a lie. Only 7 people have been killed so far and of these 7, 3 are south Africans, 2 Ethiopians and 2 Mozambican. The world media is in agreement with these figures. While its 7 lives too many that doesnt give credence to the news going round in Nigeria that we are killing and burning Foreigners. If thats true then there would be more people dead. STOP BELIEVING WHATYOU READ AND WATCH ON social media as most are lies and fabricated figments of the imaginations of mischievous Nigerians in other to stoke the flame of discord between Nigeria and SA.
2. Why are Nigerians up in arms against SA with xenophobia when the war in Nigeria is far worse than here in SA. Boko haram is killing thousands your people everyday and theres no end in sight meanwhile no Nigerian has been killed in this Xenophobic attack. That is why Nigerians throng our embassies in Lagos and Abuja seeking Visas to come to SA and escape the despicable living conditions in the slums of Nigeria.
3. This recent Xenophobic attack was predicated on the fact that Foreigners commit so much heinous crimes in SA without impunity and we are tired of all these. We have our own criminals here so we cant add more problems from foreigners. A. NIigerians are the kingpins of drugs killing our children and society. Your brothers drug our girls into prostitution. They con our people with fraud and 419. They hack into our bank accounts stealing millions.
B. Zimbabweans are involved in robberies and car hijackings
C. Mozambicans kill our farmers and take our jobs for peanuts leaving many South Africans jobless
D. Ethiopians and Somalians open shops to do illegal activities and pollute our communities. Theres a Somalian shop in every 2 houses on every street in SA. No Country can allow that.
SA has its own issues but we would like to solve them without the added problems of Foreign crimials.
If you like burn down shoprite and close MTN its your people that will suffer because these companies employ millions of Nigerians. They will simply go jobless.
Thank you
