PoliticsBuhari Meets Bill Gates & Dangote,Assures Them His Commitment 2 Fight Polio(pics by obiremy(op):
President Muhammadu Buhari has supported Aliko Dangote, and one of the richest men in the world Bill Gates initiatives to maintain Nigeria’s polio-free status, strengthen routine immunization.

The president assured that his government will continue to give strong supervision function and funding for polio programmes in Nigeria.Buhari said he will  reconstitute an enlarged presidential task force on polio which would include the all 36 states’ governors.Speaking at the signing of the updated Abuja commitment on polio eradication in the Aso Rock villa,President Buhari said.....

“I am very encouraged by the progress we are making on the immunization front. This gives me comfort that we are on the right track to ensure our children and grand children will never know of polio and its adverse impacts on lives and livelihood. Here, I will commend and thank all our partners, including both Mr. Gates and Alhaji Dangote for their personal commitments to this worthy cause.

“Of course, I also recognize the heroics of our polio eradication team under the National Primary Health Care Development Agency of the Federal Ministry of Health as well as the WHO, UNICEF, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, CDC, USAID, Rotary, Faith based organizations, Traditional Rulers, vaccinators and caregivers.

“I would like to assure you that the Federal government will continue to provide strong oversight and funding for polio program. To this effect, we will reconstitute an expanded Presidential Taskforce on Polio which will include the 36 states’ Governors to sustain the successes of our current polio eradication activities such as surveillance and routine immunization programs.

“I am pleased to inform you that the 6 states mostly impacted by polio have signed an MoU on routine immunization. This MOU is a commitment by the State Governments, namely Kano, Bauchi, Borno, Kaduna, Sokoto and Yobe, to strengthen Primary Health care system through community sensitization and support programs.

“Based on this, I will take this opportunity to call on all state governors, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and the Federal Ministry of Health to sustain this momentum to ensure we maintain the zero polio case status.”

CelebritiesRe: Nollywood Film Maker Charles Novia Visits NBC Boss Emeka Mba,Narrates His Ordeal by obiremy(op):
CelebritiesNollywood Film Maker Charles Novia Visits NBC Boss Emeka Mba,Narrates His Ordeal by obiremy(op):
On 17th January, I went to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja during the visiting hours to see the detained Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission.

In an earlier post, I had vehemently stated that I stand with Emeka Mba whom I have known for many years as a fine gentleman and very professional technocrat. Now, I am not the only one in the broadcast and entertainment industry who feels that way. Almost everyone in these sectors are shocked and upset at what is happening to a man who professionally has turned around sectors of our industry over the years through his astuteness and dedication to duty.

I got to the EFCC at about noon and saw a couple of people also waiting to see the DG. Amongst them were professional broadcasters and his wife. I was introduced to his wife who looked distressed and tired.

‘My brother, thank you for coming. Please what did they say my husband did? Yes, my husband. The Emeka you know. What did they say he did?’ I knew she was psychologically distressed. If anything, it’s not Emeka Mba whom should be detained or arrested. Not Emeka. Emeka is the epitome of forthrightness.

‘Madam, what they say does not matter.’ I replied. ‘ What matters is the man you know. The man I know. The man many of us know. We know he’s not guilty of the accusations. We stake our honour on it. So please be strong’

She replied ‘ I’m strong. I’m just disillusioned. This man who served this country with all his heart. All through the years, I can count the number of times his kids see him home early after work. Always a hard worker. Always giving his all to his assignments. How can they just lock him up like that? Even after he has explained everything, showed them all documents, everything to prove his innocence? Even after many people, both in Nigeria and from abroad, have come here to vehemently say this man is innocent of these charges? Why are they still detaining him?’

I and a friend comforted her.

A couple of hours later, the security operatives at EFCC allowed me and a couple of others to see him during the visiting hours. Now, I must say this of EFCC. They have fantastic gentleman in their employment who are very friendly and professional. The atmosphere there does not intimidate but is friendly to visitors, from the security operatives to the main officers.

Emeka was brought out, dressed in a T-shirt and slacks. He saw me and gaped.

‘Ah, Ah. Charles! This is a surprise. How are you?’ He exclaimed. He was obviously in high spirits and his psyche and usual boisterousness has not been dampened by his ordeal.

I gave him words of encouragement. ‘ Oga, I came here not only to visit you but to assure you that your friends in the industry, the broadcast and entertainment industry stand by you all through this. We are rooting for you. We are mobilising for you to be released and acquitted of these charges. We know you. We know who you are and we believe in you. You have not been abandoned. So be strong’

He was touched. Openly touched.

‘Thank you, Charles. I appreciate this’ he replied.

‘ How have they been treating you?’ I asked

‘Well… these guys are ok. I’m their ‘visitor’ and we have been talking’ he joked. We all laughed. The EFCC operative who was with him there laughed the more and said;

‘ Na wah o. Since I started working here I have never seen the calibre of visitors this man has received. Everyday, powerful people especially from the broadcast and entertainment sector. Powerful people. It’s amazing’

I replied ‘ That should tell you that this man is one of us. This man does not deserve this. We know you have to do your job but this man here is an asset to this country.’

Emeka kept smiling as he looked down to the floor, contemplatively.

A few other female staff of NBC came visiting and immediately they saw their DG in casuals, their eyes welled up. Emeka comforted them with his words and told them not to cry. Even us, the guys there were finding it hard not to shed a tear or two. Emeka doesn’t deserve this.

We all did our best to cheer him up and discussed generally about the country and other matters. He laughed at some of our banter. And then someone asked him a crunch question. What would he do after this?

He replied stubbornly and defiantly. ‘ I’m tired. Very tired. I don’t play with my honour and integrity. I will leave. Isn’t that what they want? I will leave. I have given my best, turned around the NBC and made it a multi-billion naira yielding parastatal ( even more than some Ministries). I have shown the government how broadcasting can even fund the whole budget of this country alone. I have done my best. And now, through some politics and witch-hunt, they pat me back with this. Who takes this kind of thing? The officers here have heard my side of the story. Every document and paper vindicating my defence has been shown. Why I am still here is up to them. But I’m tired’

I shook my head. I don’t blame him. Anyone in his position would be tired.

It was time to leave. I shook him firmly and encouraged him more with my words and we left.

My position on this is clear. I stand with Emeka Mba on this. I stake my honour that he is innocent of these malicious allegations.

The nebulous N15 Billion naira they say he is accused of is NOT missing. It’s sitting in the bank and safe. It’s a bank guarantee for the operators of the digitisation switch over and if you know what a bank guarantee is, then you would know that not one penny of that money was touched. The EFCC is acting on a petition by someone from within the NBC who’s obviously in cahoots with forces to get Emeka Mba out of there.

Before Emeka Mba got there, the NBC was never declaring billions as revenue. Emeka got there and changed the revenue base of the NBC. NBC and the federal government stands to make up to N1.7 trillion naira in the next two years from the digitisation switch. That’s mega money. Of course interests would come in. That’s my theory.

Emeka democratised and demystified the licensing process at the NBC. Before him, it would have taken years for anyone or organisation get a broadcast license after application and due process. Emeka changed and fast-tracked the process. He knows broadcasting creates jobs. For every TV and radio licence given, the economy is affected positively through jobs creation. Thousands of jobs.

Why this country cannibalises its good hands is a mystery of service in Nigeria. That’s one of the reasons I have personally not served in any political appointment ( and I have been offered a couple in the past ). Your good name and pedigree gets rubbished by the pettiness in the political pot.

Emeka Mba doesn’t deserve this.

PoliticsMbaka Drops New Bombshell For Buhari,Soldiers,Looted Funds & More(A MUST READ) by obiremy(op):
Reverend Father Ejikeme Mbaka is currently ministering. He said many things which are touching.Below are some of the things he said....

1 Buhari's administration will start bad but it will end well.According to him, everybody should start saving and invest. Many people may quit their job because their salary may not be enough for them.

2. He said people will start asking is this the government we voted for?According to him, there is no money in the country. The past administration looted Nigerian fund.He urged Nigerians to be patient that it will end well.It will be difficult for Buhari initially but he will make Nigerians happy at the end.

3. People who are trying to kill him or Buhari will not succeed. He said he saw many policemen around his premises. He did not know who sent them. When he interrogated them, they told him they were sent from Federal level because of an assassination plot report on his life they received from several sources.

4. He also spoke about our gallant soldiers who were sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for their refusal to fight Boko Haram.According to him,how will the soldiers fight the insurgents without being well equipped?Money meant to equip them was squandered by many politicians. He pleaded with President Buhari who is outside the country now to forgive the soldiers and grant them well.It is not their fault.

5. He also added that politicians who looted our funds should suffer. He urge Buhari to prosecute them.He prayed that God should please allow only corrupt people to be prosecuted.

7. He urged Nigerians to support Buhari. He prayed that God should protect him.

8. He also said something which I think is related to his purported transfer. He quoted some verses in the Bible where transfer leads to more upliftment. He gave an example with his sister who suffered several assaults in the hands of his former husband because of her inability to conceive. When another man wanted to marry her,the issue was disclosed to him. However,he insisted on marrying her because she attends Father Mbaka's adoration ministry. After several years in the marriage, there was no sign of pregnancy. She later had a fibroid operation. Some years later, she gave birth to a triplet.Glory be to God!

9.He spoke about people who said he should concentrate only on church issues. He said he can not keep quite when the masses are suffering. He asked that why is he a Father if he can't speak out for the masses.According to him,he is shepherd.A shepherd can not be happy if his sheep are not.Rev. Mbaka said people who are criticising him are the people that have collected bribe. He revealed that they may have financial and political power but his power(God's power) is more than them.

10.He decried the level of unemployment in Nigeria caused by former administration. He gave example with doctors who now struggle to get a place for housemanship. He has to employ one doctor the other time because of unemployment in Nigeria.

Bros,I don talk the ones wey I remember.I will update you guys later

NB:For people who are interested, you can go to Google play store and download his radio Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria(AMEN).You hear his live broadcasts, church service and other things there.Majority of the things are said in Igbo.I got the message from his live ministering at AMEN radio.

2016 seems to be a year of beef in Nigerian entertainment industry.Yesterday, an article titled ‘Kill Don Jazzy’ published published by former Mohits PR Manager Bayo Omisore began to go viral on social media. The article, which basically attacks the relevance of Don Jazzy in the entertainment industry and questions if the Mavin Boss isn’t living on his past glory, has since been criticized by fans who think Omisore is looking for fame.

In the lengthy article, the former Mo’hits PR manager commented on how he felt Don Jazzy had lost his respect in the music industry and how his reputation as the “Don” was no more since he parted ways with former buddy and fellow artiste, D’banj. He also addressed the Headies beef between himself and Olamide and how it had in some way ‘tarnished’ his image.

Below is a summary of the article....

Omisore firstly made it clear he was not a hater and he didn’t wish Don Jazzy dead.He takes us down memory lane to Don Jazzy’s Mo’hits days and how he played the role of a true Don, hardly uttering a word and granting interviews. He describes Don Jazzy as the Godfather of music back when he was with Mo’hits, calling D’banj his Underboss, Dr Sid his Consigliere and the others his Caporegimes. He says Don Jazzy’s image and glory began to fade when he began to feature in songs and accept endorsement deals from brands like Loya and Konga. He believes Don Jazzy allowed himself to be ridiculed after he responded to Olamide’s rants at the Headies this year.He describes the new Don Jazzy as a funny, humble and extremely generous guy who has become an endorsement magnet for companies. In his opinion, this is a far cry from the seemingly proud Don who sat in the audience during award ceremonies while his ‘children’ receive his wins on his behalf. Finally, he implores Michael Collins to kill the Don Jazzy character and live a normal life.

The article did not go well with Don Jazzy fans who slammed him on Instagram, calling him names like attention seeker and more.

Serena Williams has admitted she is not always up-to-date with modern dating trends – and she never celebrates Valentine’s Day.

While answering relationship questions in the February issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the 34-year-old came across a reader who wanted to know if she was ‘naive’ for thinking the sexually-charged phrase ‘Netflix and chill’ meant just hanging out. However, Serena assured the woman, nicknamed ‘Age of Innocence’, that they are on the same page.

‘I have to tell you, I thought the same exact thing. When I say “Netflix and chill”, that’s what I mean. I guess you and I are just old-fashioned – if you can call Netflix old-fashioned!’ Serena explained. For most who use the phrase, though, it is meant to denote a date night in which two people stay at home and have sex.

PoliticsBuhari Orders Investigation Into Kidnap Of 219 Chibok Girls by obiremy(op):
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved an investigation into the theft of the 219 gIrls from Government Secondary in Chibok, Borno State.

The panel to investigate the incident which happened in April 2014 is soon to be named by the National Security Adviser, NSA, General Babagana Munguno.

The investigation will seek to, among other things, unravel the remote and immediate circumstances leading the kidnap of the girls by Boko Haram terrorists as well the other events, actions and inactions that followed the incident.

This came to light just as the President, in Abuja, assured parents of the Chibok girls that he has been doing his best and will continue to do everything possible to rescue them and re-unite them with their families.

Speaking at a meeting attended by some parents of the abducted girls, representatives of the Chibok community and members of the Bring Back Our Girls movement at the Conference Hall of the State House, President Buhari said that he remained fully committed to his pledge to do all within his powers to save the girls.

“I assure you that I go to bed and wake up every day with the Chibok girls on my mind.

“The unfortunate incident happened before this government came into being.

“What have we done since we assumed office? We re-organized the military, removed all the service chiefs and ordered the succeeding service chiefs to deal decisively with the Boko Haram insurgency.

“In spite of the terrible economic condition we found ourselves in, we tried to get some resources to give to the military to reorganize and equip, retrain, deploy more troops and move more forcefully against Boko Haram.

“And you all know the progress we have made. When we came in Boko Haram was in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno. Boko Haram has now been reduced to areas around Lake Chad.

“Securing the Chibok girls is my responsibility. The service chiefs and heads of our security agencies will tell you that in spite of the dire financial straits that we found the country in, I continue to do my best to support their efforts in that regard.

“This is a Nigeria where we were exporting average of two million barrels per day at over 140 dollars per barrel. Now it is down to about 27 to 30 dollars.

“You have been reading in the press how they took public funds, our funds, your funds and shared it, instead of buying weapons. That was the kind of leadership I succeeded. That was the kind of economy I inherited.

“God knows I have done my best and I will continue to do my best,” President Buhari said.

The President was accompanied by the Minister of Defence, Mansur Mohammed Dan Ali, Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Alhassan, Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Gabriel Olonisakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai and the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd).

In his remarks, the Chief of Defence staff told the meeting that in the last three months the military has liberated more than 3000 people kidnapped by Boko Haram in the North eastern part of the country.

He said that the military had the ability to rescue the Chibok girls, but added that “intelligence is delicate and we don’t want to do anything to jeopardize the lives of the girls.”

PoliticsHow Can U Say U've Won Boko Haram When 219 Girls Aint Back,BBOGs Tel Buhari 2day by obiremy(op): 4:17pm On Jan 14, 2016
Today is 640 days of the abduction of our Chibok girls. Exactly 21 months which means that in another three months it would be two years since our 219 Chibok girls were abducted and remain captives of terrorists without rescue by their government.

Mr President may wish to recall the meeting of 8 July , 2015 with representatives of the parents, community and our movement. At that meeting we demanded for speedy actions to rescue who at that time were spending 450 days in captivity. We also asked for the swift rescue of other victims of Boko Haram and made a number of demands and suggestions touching on the counterinsurgency efforts of the Federal Government. Mr President gave us very strong assurance that the Federal Government would take every decisive action necessary to rescue our Chibok girls as well as other affected citizens. Mr President's pledge was consistent with the words of your inauguration speech of the 29th May, 2015 that "... we can not claim to have defeated Boko Haram without rescuing the Chibok girls and all other innocent persons held hostage by insurgents." Our expectation and the world at large was further bolstered when you declared December 31st, 2015 as the deadline for the military to defeat Boko Haram.

Mr President may also recall the commitment you made to implementing a number of measures concerning the welfare of the parents and the Chibok community.

Jointly with the parents and community, our Movement specifically demanded for a high level progress reporting mechanism from the Federal Government. When several weeks later , we saw no action on this particular demand, you may recall that we wrote a reminder letter of 3 August 2015. In that letter, we outlined all the outstanding measures for the girls, their parents and their community that had still not been implemented. That situation remains the same even today, Mr. President.

It is therefore with the deepest pain and disappointment that the parents, Chibok Community and our Movement are here again 6 months after our July 8 meeting to register our absolute dissatisfaction on the lack of progress. Our Chibok girls are neither rescued nor have the measures the Federal Government pledged to been instituted. Our disappointment was worsened recently when Mr President shocked the parents into a deeper throes of agony when you publicly gave the excuse "that there is no credible information about the girls' whereabouts" as the reason our Chibok girls have not been rescued.

That "lack of credible intelligence" remark, Mr President, left the parents, the community, our movement, and the rest of the world was all the more shocked considering that the same Federal Government that made their rescue a key indicator of success and defeat of Boko Haram went ahead to declare victory on 31st December. How can we declare that our nation has won the war when our 219 daughters and other abducted victims are still not back?

The parents of our Chibok girls whom you successfully persuaded at our July 8 had following that meeting told our Movement that they had implicit trust in the words of Mr President that "everything will be done to rescue our daughters". They specifically asked the Movement to give the administration the cooperation you had asked for during the meeting. We did so but refused to end our daily advocacy at the Unity Fountain which by today is DAY 625.

Mr President, it is extremely saddening that those same parents who had placed their implicit confidence in your July 8 promise to rescue their daughters are here today terribly traumatized, disconsolate and desperate for your reassurance and outline of convincing decisive action that would bring a positive closure to this historical tragedy.
There is no better way to convey the depth of the devastation of these parents than the fact that we today have the largest ever contingent of them who despite their meagre resources have paid their way to travel to Abuja in order to register their angst, disappointment demand for immediate rescue of their daughters by Mr President and the military.

We are compelled to ask the following questions, Mr President:

A. What does "lack of credible intelligence" mean in the light of diverse capabilities that Nigeria and the rest of the world can mobilize to "find credible intelligence"?
B. What concrete steps are being taken to find "credible intelligence". With whom? By whom?
C. What timelines is the Federal Government working with?
D. When does the Federal Government want the parents to assume closure or is the rescue of our 219 Chibok girls on an open-ended timeline?

These are our demands, Mr President:

1. We want the Federal Government to share with the parents, community and our movement, a clear options approach of the rescue operation with timelines. This options approach and plan will enable the parents know when to determine closure on this tragedy.

2. We demand that the government should exhaust all the publicly offered leads and assistance on the whereabouts of our Chibok girls to achieve their rescue. The parents, community and our movement appreciate that the Federal Government is being guided by the failures of the past administration in being circumspect but it must not become a stumbling block to decisive actions for their rescue .

3. We outline four publicly available leads on the whereabouts and rescue of our Chibok girls that the Federal Government should provide update on:

A. The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff had said on May 26th 2014 that "the military knows where our girls are".

B. The Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima publicly stated that he knew where our Chibok girls are held in an underground bunker.

C. A week or so ago, a retired Army Captain, and security expert spoke on Channels Television and declared that "our girls are alive and are somewhere in Sambisa forest where the military has not been able to access due to certain difficulties".

D. A well known journalist , Mr. Ahmad Salkida has consistently publicly offered to provide credible proof about our girls' whereabouts and help mediate in their release.

We insist that the Federal Government must maximally explore all these leads and routes for rescuing our 219 Chibok girls. There is a fierce "urgency of NOW" that must be reflected in the actions of Mr President and the Federal Government in rescuing our daughters of Nigeria who deserve the justice of freedom from terrorist captivity.

4. Finally Mr President, we again reiterate our recent letter to you requesting that you exercise your prerogative of mercy to pardon the soldiers sentenced for disobeying orders to fight terrorists unarmed; for the reason that as Mr President said earlier, they were not equipped. Sending them to fight without proper equipping was sending them on a suicide mission.

Thank you very much.
