ExudeLoveToAll: You don't know Rivers state then, go check all rivers presidential elections from 1999 to date and come back for the discussion. Check from 2019 downwards not during the free rigging era, when both rivers and Anambra and even imo with Enugu were churning out numbers in millions . How many votes did Rivers record in 2023 presidential election, check governorship because it is even lower. If you are talking about states with massive votes, you will count 10 before Rivers, not that all those ten have more registered voters than Rivers bit the question is always how many people will come out to vote . What endeared Tinubu to Wike is not the votes but Wike's influence in PDP and the country at large plus the huge oil wealth in Rivers state.. Tinubu won 2023 election because Wike used the G5 governors to destabilize PDP. |

Amah70: In 2006 when this same state was about to be created as Njaba state, why was it popular then? Is it because of the change of name now to Orlu state? It's popular among the knowledgeable Igbos who are to make decisions on what the name shall be. These hoi polloi will not be there to decide. There are Gombe, Ekiti, Ondo, Kaduna states; what's wrong with Orlu state? As for Njaba, there is already Njaba local govt area. So common sense goes for Orlu state, Orlu has been the oldest name for which people in the area identify with.
Above all, given the history of states creation in the southeast, Orlu zone is meant to contribute the nucleus of a sixth state in the southeast area. No amount of radio talkshow in Enugu or Anambra or Owerri, can stop that justice from getting done. This is democracy and democracy is all about majority, even those in the national assembly are there because the majority of their constituents voted for them. If the majority of those that matters are for Anioma their is no way it will not fly, People who are supposed to be part of the so called Orlu state are kicking against it and you are still optimistic, if that is not delusion then I don't know how to describe it again. You have labelled all the Imo governors of Orlu descent incompetent and you want others to come and join you in your so called Orlu state, people that couldn't develope their zone despite dominating the leadership of Imo state. |

Check Katsina, Kaduna, Bauchi or even Oyo, they produce more votes than Rivers. The interest in Rivers is not about votes but the wealth of the state , if you are linking their interest in Kano to votes it will be more understandable. Rivers just like other eastern states has issue of voter apathy |

Amah70: Lol. If you had listened to Sen Ned Nwoko to the end, he never campaigned for Anioma state to be a state in the southeast area. If he asked the people there they will say no to bringing them in Anioma State to join the southeast area. Except Asaba area, other Aniomas are the "my name na Chikeluba, but I no be Ibo." Even Ned Nwoko was Chinedu Nwoko but removed Chi from his name to avoid identification as Igbo. In 2006, Reps of Orlu zone in the Refotms Conference asked for Orlu state because they knew the nucleus of a denied 6th state in the southeast area should come from Imo West (Orlu) senatorial zone. The State was about to be created as Njaba if not that then Senate President Nnamani threw away the baby with the bathtub. Only a foolish Igbo person would think of Anioma as sixth state in the southeast area; a foolish person who does not understand that it amounts to reducing representation of the Igbos in the federal government system. Ned nwoko has never denied his Igbo identity, I once heard him advocating polygamy among igbos, citing out forefathers who were polygamists. Even though I don't agree with him on that but just to let you know that he never denied his Igbo identity. About his name, are you also saying that Andy Uba and other igbos whose real name is Nnamdi but chose to shorten it to Andy denied their Igbo identity ? What about people like Jim lyk ? Toney Umez ? Kach Ononuju and many other Igbo that shortened or modified their Igbo names to make it sound exotic ? A popular radio station in Enugu made this issue a topic of debate in their yesterday evening program and those for anioma overwhelming dominated . All the callers who are from Anambra spoke against Orlu state including majority from enugu , only few imo callers went for Orlu state. Orlu state is not popular and that is the fact |

Enugu is exceptionally expensive and low purchasing power. It's even worse outside Enugu. Reason why people shouldn't stop supporting relatives in the village. I don't understand what you are saying, enugu ShopRite is booming, Roban now has 5 malls in enugu alone and nsukka outlet is coming up. Food cost is high but people are not starving here and it is not cheaper elsewhere You are a poor economist, there can't be high price in the midst of low purchasing power, it doesn't just make any sense because we are told that high demand leads to high price. Soludo fall into the new state they know how to settles their scores.
And pls we are not forcing anybody. Any Anambra community that doesn't want to be part of the state should be carved out. The real people in Anambra that will be part of the new state know themselves. Anambra has nothing to offer aside business. Those Orsu and Isu clans in Anambra state since the creation, what have they benefitted from the state if not them removing from their sweat to give the state. Brother, shun this fantastic pride, Anambra has nothing and nothing to offer.
Only that her citizens love defending it even when they know that there is nothing in the state apart from their hard earned sweat invested in it. Orlu will provide them with many better opportunities and reintegrate them with their Orsu and Isu kins in Imo state. The new state will be the new pride of southeast as 70% of Igbo known billionaires will fall in the new state. The new state will be the moving training as over 70% of Anambra billionaires from either from Isu or Orsu clan of the state likewise in Imo state will fall in the new state. B2mario: Who are you, who is seeking for your opinion? Are you a king from any of the communities you said?
When Anambra was created first in 1976, did anybody seek your opinion on where to place Ozubulu and Okija? You are nobody in this context. The issue has been finalised and if you don't like it go to court. Okija and co was under Orlu division and must be part of Orlu state.
It marvels me how some unguided fools take Anambra to be a subethnic group in Igbo land and wish never to divide it upon the huge population of the state. Stop acting like a low class human. The people who know the template for state creation in the southeast have already started their work and will soon finish it. Ohaneze and ndi Eze are aware of this template.
No state in southeast was created on tribal line, the first two states that were created out of the East central state were created on the context of balancing population between the two new states, IMO and Anambra. Which at the end they still had slightly two unequal populations.
Children of nowadays, due unphathoned reason or pride started seeing Anambra as a subtribe whereas no two clan in Anambra speak the same dialects. Those of them that were under Orlu division like Ihiala, Nnewi south, Aguata and co originally speak Orlu.
Your attitude is one of the reason our elders and leaders are considering and are bent on dividing Anambra. We don't want to have another Ikwerre in the nearest future. This is how it all started. Being proud of having Portharcourt as their own, discovery of oil in their land added more to the pride, developing a unique sense of identity, and using civil war as excuse to separate completely which we are still battling to integrate back to fold.
Before the presentation of that bill in the lower chamber there was due consultation before going to seek for the support of other members from other zones. Your governor, senators and Hon. members were aware. And they know the procedure or template for new state creation in Southeast. After the creation of Ebonyi state east of the southeast between Enugu and Abia states the next new state will be created West of the southeast between Imo and Anambra state and the capital will be located in the Imo area of the state just as the capital of Ebonyi state is being located in the Enugu area of the state.
See your myopic and unwise reasoning, not considering the benefit attached to state creation. Upon the huge population located between Imo and Anambra you still want them to remain under the two different states. Go back to your school and demand for repay.
Finally, nobody is seeking for your opinion. Hon. Ugochinyere Imo has done what the Igbo elders and leaders asked him to do and the process has already begun and an ordinary man like you can not stop it because you are nobody. Your feeling of pride can not stop the progress of Igbo and all these areas in Anambra that will be part of the new state knows their Origin and cultural affinity not someone from Idemili, Onitsha or northern part of the state.
This new state wasn't the brainchild of Hon. Ugochinyere but that of Igbo elders and leaders, they only sent him for a message and he delivered it well. Ihiala, Nnewi south, Aguata and Orumba are willing and eager to be part of the new state. Their reps were there when the bill passed the first reading and up to now they have not said anything and you are on nairaland disturbing yourself.
I thought you said Anambra is a great state, so what will carving out of 5 LGAs do to a state known to be great whereas Imo state that is going to lose 16 LGAs has not complained anything or are you trying to tell us that the greatness of Anambra state lies within the Orlu area of the state. Don't be enemy of progress, this people from Anambra south want to be part of Niger delta as the National Assembly refused Anambra as a whole. Lol, it will be easier for a camel to go through a needle than for Orlu state to become a reality. Why did I say so ? Do you even realize that the current governors of both imo and Anambra fall into the proposed state ? Are you now saying that Soludo and Uzodimma should step down as governors of their respective states and go back to Orlu state or the creation should wait till after Soludo' s second tenure in 2030 ? How can you propose a state that will see two serving governors becoming none indigenes in the states they hold sway ? So in your mind both Soludo and Uzodimma will support Orlu state so they can step down as governors of Anambra and imo respectively and come and become ordinary citizens in the new state ? Or they can continue with governing their states even when they are no longer indigenes of those states ? Ok , if they are to continue with their current states ( as one must not be an indigene to govern a state ) and a governor is elected for the new Orlu state won't that make Orlu state to have 3 indigenous serving governors ? I don't see this flying unless they should wait till 2030 after both Uzodimma and Soludo must have been through with their two terms but then , the Anioma state which is more popular might just size the opportunity . |
