Signal update on the home made dish , dlee the focal point fall at 65cm .the exact point in the picture after playing with the lnb I wa able to improve more on my signal eutelsat 36 now 74%, astra 75%, nss7 70%,, w3c signal is ok too.may be when the cloud is clear will try more sat.

EUREKA!!! Eutelsat w36a/b 12130 h 27500 signal is live on my home made dish with 71% signal quality.I cant believe this.look at the dish pointing to the satellite.I was able to pull in astra 28(multi tv)58% and NSS7 22 w 67%.Next time I will try other satellites.If their is any addition or subtraction kindly drop it here,I really appreciate you guys .Together we can make the world go round,nobody is an island of knowledge we are here to learn and to share ideas.Viva Nairaland Africa.

During construction stages i discovered so many unavoidable errors but next time I will improve more on it and i will not and never repeat such mistakes again.We can only learn and develop our skills by improving on past errors.


Next is dish testing on eutelsat 36A/B

After full welding the picture below show the result,now the dish has a stand ,with this stand we can mount it on a pole and track any signal available but remember this is my first time of constructing home made dish .I am trying to work things out such that at the end of the game at least i can hit green on any satellites available here.Note am not promising you that am going to hit green yet,but am working towards that green on my tv screen.

Next is painting. Here I used matt paint,you must have the knowledge of how to mix paint to give you the colour you are looking for ,since mine is grey colour i mixed black matt paint with white paint to give me the colour am looking for .The matt paint for the surface while gloss is for the back of the dish .You can see the reflective power of the gloss at the back of the dish while the dull or non reflective colour can be seen on the surface.

Next is the construction of the base/neck.In constructing this the azimuth and the elevation angle must be carefully taken care of ,in my own case the azimuth should be able to move in 360 degrees while the elevation should move between 0-90 degrees.Look at the pictures below

at last i was able to fit the lnb to the right spot where all the reflective rays from the parabolic prime focus dish surface converges .

picture 4 is the best spot for our lnb

from my design the focal point of the dish suppose to fall into 40cm using f/d of 0.4 and depth of 15.63 when i measured my real dish the f/d,depth have all changed to f/d 0.625,depth 10cm but diameter still remain constant i guess is as a result of some minor errors i incurred during the fabrication and riveting stages that amount to such deflection from f/d of 0.4-0.625.but at last i was able to determine a point where all the reflective rays on the dish surface converged into a point .just look at the pictures how i managed to get the focal method using ultraviolet rays

picture 1 those bright surface you see are from the dish surface the first pictures scattered the ray meaning the focal point of the dish is farther away.

picture 2 is telling us the focal point is coming closer than picture 1

picture 3 can tell us that we have arrived at the focal point .It means if our LNB is placed at the point we should be able to get signal popping up

at last i have the 100cm prime focus dish fabricated,using all locally made materials available at my disposal.next is how to fix the tripod stand to hold the LNB remember the LNB must collect all the reflective signals on the surface of the dish ,here you need to do some crazy adjustment otherwise your focal point will not work fine.sometime the focal point on paper work will not work on the real work,its just to guide you because you must have incur some errors while doing your constructions

after riveting the panels to the frame i was able to achieved this result ,though the back view of the dish .Does it look beautiful and is it taking shape?

i choose to use riveting method as a means of fastening the frame of the dish to the panels to for the dish parabolic surface.Here you must be very careful when riveting, application of too much pressure from the gun may deform your ribs and that will make it to turn away from your initial f/d.In some cases it flatten the dish surface so no focal point can ever be achieved.meaning your dish will be blind for life.
