Nigerians are generally secretive and that is an evidence of our backwardness. People who are involved in real high tech still reveal info not to talk of people using 50 year old techniques. Go to any of the people who do shirt printing biz and try to look at their machines and get the trade name ,then go to the www and do a search ,you can still do a web search witouth knowing a trade name/mark |
That video is doctored.Pat can not produce such. |
Donald Duke will get my vote if Pat Utomi does not go ahead. Success is determined by systems and processes, not just experience. Pat has shown that he can put systems and processes in place. Go to LBS and have a look. |
Gani endorses Utomi LEGAL luminary and social critic, Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) yesterday endorsed the presidential ambition of Prof. Pat Utomi, an economist of note and director, Lagos Business School (LBS), describing him as a progressive. Chief Fawehinmi endorsed Utomi’s candidacy for the nation’s top job despite the possibility of more progressive politicians declaring interest to run for the position in the 2007 general elections. The legal giant in Lagos after his conferment of "The Most Distinguished Nigerian Democrat" award by Eze Dr Emmanuel Ezeokoli, Eze Igbo of Alimosho local government council, on behalf of Igbo Peoples Action Congress (IPAC). Prof. Utomi has indicated interest to contest for the plum job, the president of Nigeria come 2007 election, although he has not declared for any political party. Chief Fawehinmi, who himself is a progressive, confirmed that progressive elements were making efforts to present a generally acceptable candidate for next year’s general election. "I have just mentioned at least one progressive to you here, who is in our hearts,? You want me to mention his name? Of course, you know Pat Utomi very well. "So as many people are still coming up, we will assess them and then make our final choice of progressive candidate and we will go all out to campaign for such person," he explained. Chief Fawehinmi maintained that Prof. Utomi is far more credible than the current array of presidential aspirants including the Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida. His words: "I think quite frankly, we have many candidates who are jostling for office in 2007. But I have seen one professor there, an academic professor who we know very well far better than what we call the Atikus, far better than what we call the Babanigas or others. "He is a blackman but light in complexion. So, he is the one we have seen. Many others may still come who are credible. He is credible," he emphasized. The social critic condemned the current agitation for rotational presidency, insisting that the best candidate should be given a chance to emerge from any of the geo-political zones. He argued that the current socio-economic and political problems confronting the country were the handiwork of all former heads of state no matter the zone they came is from. The legal luminary said what matters most is the ability of whoever in power to provide employment opportunities, security, medical facilities and functional education system for the masses. |

Pat Utomi is actually one of the best candidates for the 2007 elections. I have not seen any contestant as qualified as he is. He always talks about "Servant Leaders" unlike our current system in Nigeria "Master Rulers " |
I was actually given a non nigerian name at birth/baptism. The name is not english. It is rather a name common among people of the East of europe. I stopped using my non-african name because I felt that it does not make any sense. I dont know any Non-African that has an African name. The use of the so called english names is a left over of the colonial era. We have to do away with them. I have two kids and I gave them only local names |
Looks a bit like the Chevrolet Epica/Daewoo epica. I think that they might be built on the same platform |
Pls go to his website and read about his modus operandi. Nigeria is bad today ,because people have sat back and watched for too long. With a good campaign network, he will surely win. People like Utomi have more upstairs in everything than people like Abacha, IBB, OBJ etc. |
L&G, I do not hold brief for OBJ in any way and do not support all his programmes. But I must confess he has made fundamental changes in the way things are done in Nigeria. I might not score hime a pass mark because much more was expected. But we must confess that OBJ has made reasonable progress compared to those before him. Secondly ,there are almost no stories about his corrupt practices. A government owned Nitel has not been able to pay salaries for months now. Nitel only survived by charging high tarrifs especially for foreign calls and keeping away phones and other IT services away from the main populace |
About 70% of them will go with terminal benefits. The best way is to retrain and prepare for other activities If Nitel will have to wake up from an agelong slumber, fresh blood will have to be injected. All Govt firms are overstaffed. We can only be competitive by using modern business methods like outsourcing non core jobs and focussing on core activities. In the company I work for , we have very few secretaries and no messengers and typists. Every body is a messenger for himself. In Nitel, you still have typists, messengers etc. |
Pls give detailed info about the property like no of flats , total area etc |
It is good Transcorp is buying 75% of Nitel for $750M + N60billion in debts is alot. Orascom wanted it for barely $280m. Secondly Transcorp is not owned by Baba. It is a PLC. Right now Transcorp is doing a public offer, so you can take part. Already a private placement have done and was successful. Infact we should rejoice that Nitel has been sold. |
what did you read ? |
Long distance travel is good. I saw astudy some years ago about using a luxury bus costing N23m to transport people from east to west of Nigeria. Average daily return is about N100k ie without considering operational cost. Pay back is less 2 years. That is why ABC is doing very well. Actually I hope to start a haulage/courier biz later. It is even more profiatble. I will do the goods delivery much better than ABC with the use of modern ICT . |
Export of scrap meatl out of Nigeria is now banned. Indians really made a killer in the biz. Right now they are setting up scrap smelters locally using gas. They are still making a killer on that. |
I got diesel for N86 today. The scarcity of 2weeks ago has come down |
In portharcourt diesel sells for between N77-N90 in filling stations. I consume about 80l of diesel for my business daily. It has been a bit scarce of recent. I also drive a diesel V-booth. It is still quite economical even with disel selling at N100 compared to petrol at N65/l for a petrol V-booth |
Pls is Argos in Nigeria now ? |
If you guys really know what the likes of IBB did to this country, you will not even talk about him. The likes of him have carried our country 50 years behind. Honestly , nothing short of execution at the Bar beach will befit the likes of IBB. |
The car maker my 2 cents talked about is Eddy Bongos. He was doing assembly on a small scale. His vehicles were mainly pickups and buses and I still see some of them today. To date it has been the most commercially viable attempt at vehicle manufacturing in Nigeria. The vehicles looked like Isuzu,Toyota, Nissan and Mazda all together. Most key components were imported while the body parts were done in house. I spoke with some of his old workers not too long ago. I am very much interested in the auto industry. we can't really make much head way without it. Substantial efforts have been made by a government organ called CADD( ABU, Proda, Addis Engineering, Kwaratech Etc). CADD stands for Centre for Automotive Design and development. CADD was scraped by OBJ govt due to bad advice from his advisers. I like Naijadey's enthusiasm and I will like to join forces with him |
We are not going to fight the conventional way. Look at MEND. Look at the impact. We are going to decimate him |
Walmart is a mega corporation. Infact the Walmart siblings are the richest family in the whole world. Walmart does not actually manufacture . The do a lot of contract manufacturing and that is why they can cut prices. We have a lot of micro retailers in Nigeria and Walmart entrance into nigeria will shake them. Walmart certainly will not open in more than 4-5 cities in Nigeria It will stimulate SMEs like Shoprite has done for vegetable farmers etc |
We will fight to our last drop of blood to make sure that IBB and his likes do not smell the presidency again. That guy should have been shot in the Bar-beach years ago. He had the best chance to put Nigeria on a path of greatness. He blew it and is still not repentant. |
I read in the businessday daily( www.businessdayonline.com) that Walmart and other big time retailers are eyeing the Tinapa Resort seriously. Most probably they are already building something there. |
I invest in the stock market and if you invest wisely you will hardly lose. You have to define what you want(long term or short term) By long term, you buy stocks to earn from dividends, bonus and capital appreciation. For long term FBN, UBA < Union Bank , GTB, Cadbury, Nestle , Guiness etc are very good For short term you buy to sell. There are a lot of classical stories about the stock market. A civil servant in the mid 70s got a car loan of about N7,700 and bought about 10000 units of NBL( Nigerian breweries) . By early last year that singular investment that investment was worth about N140 million, minus the dividends over the years. Even with the bashing of the NBL stock last year , that investment is still worth well above N40million. This can fetch you 10 brand new cars instead of 1 car amost 28 years ago. If you need more info on stock market , do a wide card search for nigerian stock market on the WWW or email me on ifyobua@yahoo.com. Pls not that I don't work for any stock broking firm . I just like to fill up this info glut in Nigeria |
L&G, you can check for detailed info on cars on this british site- www.parkers.co.uk |
Brethren and Sistren, We have had all sorts of things as leaders. for me leadership is all about vision, responsibility and passion. Utomi has proved to be the man. I will put in every thing in me to support his campaign or that of others like him. Leadership in Nigeria is corrupt because there is alot of compromise. Look at the history of successful leaders. They are not 5% as exposed as Utomi. Ghadafi came in at 27years, JJ Rawlings Castro, Atta Turk, Singaporean leader etc. I have not seen any good material among the likes of Atiku, IBB, Kalu and co . Definitely OBJ will suprise people with the guy he will support to replace him. |
I called Hanks. I introduced my self as Sergeant Slaughter and told him that I was going to slaughter him if he does not stop sending mails to people and he quickly hung up. The best way to avoid these scams is to ignore unsolicited mails. The guy must be dumb. Anybody falling prey must be crazy. What has US embassy got to do with Royal Dutch Shell ? Shell has a full fledged company in Nigeria, so most recruitment within Nigeria is handled by them. |

I advise IT students to look for exposure for IT placements instead of looking for well paying companies. Come to think of it, and IT student will not have much to offer in terms of knowledge to a company. I know of an IT(OND) student who pestered my firm to give her an IT placement and She was expecting to be paid 15k per month> She cried her head off when she realized she would not be paid that much. Even corpers don't earn that much. I encourage people to learn and acquire marketable skills so that they can earn money on their own |
