Orangeburg County sheriff’s deputies say 43-year-old Richard Fleener II will have a bond hearing Monday. He is charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult.


Authorities say Fleener was living with his 78-year-old grandmother from November until February, when he stole so much money from her that her power was shut off for several days.

Investigators say Fleener also stole her wheelchair, television and window air conditioning unit.

Deputies did not know if Fleener had an attorney.

But for Providence, 6 May, 2013 would have gone down in the history of the country as one of the bloodiest days of crime. The would-be perpetrators of the act are now cooling their feet in police net. How were they apprehended?

Accordinated attempt to carry out a major robbery operation in Onitsha, Anambra State was recently foiled by officers and men of the Anambra State Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

Amos Chieku, Ndubuisi Uche, Chibuike Alakwachi, Ugochukwu Igbokwe and Nonso are five members of the gang currently assisting police authorities to trace the whereabouts of other members still at large.

A couple of weeks ago, one robbery informant reportedly alerted Uche, popularly called ‘I Chop’ of a planned movement of a large amount of money from Onitsha to an undisclosed destination, apparently by a group of businessmen. The amount involved was such that Uche, 31, alone could not handle.

He promptly invited some ‘tested’ hands in the act of robbery to join him in the ‘business.’ Chieku, alias Danga is based in Abuja, but moves anywhere across the country to perpetrate his crime once he is called upon.

Chieku, 23, is said to be good with guns. He is also a dependable driver. Alakwachi, 21, is based in Lagos and is reported to be a former escapee from prison for similar offence. Nonso is said to be the gang’s armourer and also good with weapons.

Whereas Chieku hails from Enugu State, Uche is a native of Amasiri Afikpo in Ebonyi State. The third member of the gang, Igbokwe is not based in Nigeria. For seven years, he has been living in South Africa.

Igbokwe, 27, and native of Owerri in Imo State, is not gainfully employed in the South African country, but he is occasionally invited home by the gang when there is a ‘business’ considered is requiring an expert touch. Igbokwe is reported to be a professional gun handler at least the kind of guns in the armoury of the Nigerian military.

He is also reported to provide foreign cover for all members of the group. It was for the foiled operation that Igbokwe flew into the country from South Africa last week. So, last Sunday, all members of the gang were scheduled to meet at a hotel in Onitsha from where they would strategise before their final assault the following day, Monday, 6 May, 2013.

Their plan was reportedly to ambush the bullion van moving the cash and intercept the convoy. It was reported that Uche, the alleged gang leader, had instructed that should there be any resistant to their action, his men should not hesitate to ‘waste’ such a person. But the news of the gang’s planned operation got to the notice of the SARS leadership, which promptly put men on alert for the gang.

While waiting for his gang to arrive the hotel, men of the SARS reportedly swooped on Uche and he was promptly arrested. But Uche would not go down alone. So, he promised that he would assist law enforcement agents to get other members of the gang.

So, the police decided to play along while Uche called his partners-in-crime to join him at the hotel. One by one, Chieku, Nonso, Alakwachi and Igbokwe all arrived to be welcome by Uche. To the chagrin of all, they landed in the hands of operatives of SARS team strategically stationed at the hotel. Some of their gang were said to still being awaited after Uche had called them that there was a slight change in time for the operation.


In their confessional statements before Saturday Mirror in Awka, Chieku denied knowledge of the planned attempt to rob that day. Though he confessed to have been an armed robber before, he said he had repented a long time ago.

He claimed he was only bringing his family from Abuja where he had accident on the way with his car. At another breadth, Chieku confessed to being a member of the gang and that it was Uche that introduced him to the ‘deal’ that led to their arrest.

“I know that the game is up, but let I Chop tell you all I know about the business. We all met Uche at Enugu before we came to Onitsha. He was the one that called me that there is business for us at Onitsha,” Chieku added. Nonso, on his part, denied being a robber, but said that he knows Uche and Chieku who used to come and eat in his mother’s canteen in Enugu.

This claim, Uche rejected. Uche, while confessing to his crime, said that all five of them were members of the same gang. He confirmed that Igbokwe flew into the country from Nigeria for the planned operation, while Alakwachi also came from Lagos for the same operation.

When Saturday Mirror asked Uche how it was possible for someone to fly in from South Africa to carry out a robbery operation and also go back to that country, Uche answered, “What are you saying?

How much is a South African ticket when you go for an operation and make N5 million or N10 million. Let me tell you that some of our gang are scattered in Lagos, Abuja and abroad. You contact those ones that you want to be in your team for a particular operation.

The claim that they are not involved in the Onitsha operation that led to our arrest are false. They will not tell you the truth. Some months back, Alakwachi betrayed me by aligning himself with a contact I gave him and I cursed him that he would soon be caught,” Uche said.

But Igbokwe’s claim is different. He said: “I deal in drugs in South Africa. I did not know that they are robbers. I just came home looking for some money to continue my business.

I wanted to dupe Chiewku N300,000, but I was roped into this case.” This was, however, also denied by Uche who said Igbokwe always come from South Africa to rob, stay some time in Lagos and travel back.

A senior member of the SARS who does not want his name in print, said that with the arrest of Uche, there would be a high degree of peace in Onitsha and the entire South East. The police officer claimed Uche has been on the wanted list of the police for a long time ago. “We have been looking for I Chop for a long time now.

There is hardly any serious robbery in Onitsha that Uche would not be part of it. He is such a notorious robber that his name even sends jitters down the spines of security men and other criminals in the state and environs,” he said.

Marlene Mints, 31, is now on administrative leave from her position at Bessie Coleman Middle School in Texas.
The investigation began in late April, when a coach at the middle school was driving some students home, and one of the students brought up that he’d had séxual relations with Mints, according to an arrest warrant obtained by WFAA.
The boy, who was a student in Mints’ s*x-ed class, claims he was texting with Mints in January and he told her he was having a problem with his man-hood, and she replied she would have to see it to know what was wrong. The boy says he then went to the school, where Mints performed a s*x act on him.
Investigators say Mints also had s*xual relations with a high school senior. Mints allegedly texted the senior asking “if he liked white girls,” then invited him to her home where she performed a s*xual act on him, according to CBS DFW.

Chipo Sibanda reportedly learnt the hard way in the early hours of 29 April when she visited the toilet but could not urinate upon discovering that her vagina had mysteriously sealed. The woman is said to have nearly collapsed when she noticed that her 'most sweetness spot' had mysteriously sealed.

However, My Zimbabwe has learnt that Chipo was in the habit of sleeping with married men - a claim which was confirmed by the alleged hubby-snatcher. It is reported that Chipo approached one of the women whose husband had allegedly 'strayed' to Chipo's 'honey jar'.

A source who stays in Bulawayo's Matshobana suburb where there incident reportedly took place, said a woman popularly known as Mai Tawanda had previously warned Chipo to stay away from her husband. The source said after the spine-chilling incident, the 'vaginaless' woman approached Mai Tawanda and begged for forgiveness.

"She didn't have a choice in this case but to approach Mai Tawanda and apologise. No one remains calm upon realising that her sexual organ is missing. If she had not approached Mai Tawanda we could be talking about something else," said a source close to Chipo.

It is reported that Mai Tawanda first thrashed Chipo but much to the surprise of everyone, the bashed woman did not cry. The alleged husband-snatcher was saved by Mai Tawanda's sister who had been summoned to hear the confession.

"She was set free 3 hours after the beating. She made a promise to Mai Tawanda that she would never see her husband or even come near him. That is when she was told to go to the toilet and check if her organ was back," she said.

After several attempts to get hold of Chipo, our news crew eventually managed to hook up with the woman who openly revealed that she had learnt a big lesson.

"I am sorry to all women I have wronged. It wasn't my intention to break their marriages. It (the disappearance of her organ) was so scary and the thought that I couldn't piss was frightening. I could feel that my bladder was full but I couldn't do anything," she said.

Efforts to get a comment from the much dreaded Mai Tawanda proved futile by the time of going to press.

It seems the reported wedding between Sunmbo Ajaba, 2Face’s babymama; and her heartthrob, Pastor David Adeoye, has been cancelled....

The wedding, which should have held last week Saturday in Lagos, didn’t take place any longer. On that day, Sunmbo was reportedly in the United States of America celebrating the birthday of her child, who turned five, while her Pastor ‘hubby’ was reportedly in church in Lagos.

Even the Registry that was supposed to hold on Thursday, May 2 in Ikoyi, didn’t take place as earlier planned.

Pastor Adeoye is the Senior Pastor at Royal Christian Centre. It is still not clear what could have led to it. We will dig into it and bring details later.

His partnership with Xavi in the middle of midfield for club and country has proved formidable and pivotal to the recent success of both Barcelona and Spain. Iniesta will no doubt be a key figure for his country at the World Cup in Brazil next year.

The 28 year old's goal record for Spanish giants Real Madrid is nothing short of phenomenal. Averaging more than a goal a game with 197 strikes in 195 matches. Despite Los Blancos being knocked out of the Champions League semi final by Borussia Dortmund, Ronaldo remains the competition's top scorer this season with 12 goals.
He continues to have an ongoing rivalry with Lionel Messi for world's best player and although it is the Argentine forward that usually comes out on top, the Portuguese winger is certainly not far behind. Prophet drowns during baptism
BULAWAYO police have clarified that a man who drowned at a baptism pool in Pumula South last month was not a member of Prophet Thabiso Ngwenya's church as they initially reported...


The police said Ngwenya, arguably Bulawayo's most popular prophet, was not there at the baptism ceremony and the man is believed to be a "prophet" who was conducting his own baptism ceremony.

Initially, police said they suspected that the man had drowned while being baptised by Ngwenya.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesman Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo identified the man who drowned at the pool as Selby Chikowora (22), believed to be a prophet from another apostolic church.

"He slid into the pool where he was baptising several people and drowned. It is not clear whether he belonged to Prophet Thabiso Ngwenya's church, but he drowned at the very pools where Ngwenya baptises his people," Moyo said.

Ngwenya's lawyers Moyo and Nyoni Legal Practitioners said neither Ngwenya nor prophets from his church had baptised anyone on the fateful day.

"Our client has a church, which was awarded land by local authorities. He erected a baptism pool there and that is where all his baptism services are held," the lawyers said.

The lawyers said the reports were likely to cause alarm among the popular prophet's "local and international" clients.

The two stars have been on-and-off for several months, with Chris sparking speculation they are no longer together after he celebrated his 24th birthday with his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran over the weekend.
The singer has now given an interview about Rihanna, during which he implies they have decided to separate.

A Karu, Abuja, Upper Area Court has remanded 42-year-old Rufua Alabi in prison custody after he was arraigned for impregnating his 16-year-old daughter...


The prosecutor, Cpl Pascal Njoku told the court that Alabi of Kurudu Village, Abuja, committed the offence sometime last year, following which the daughter was carrying a six-months-old pregnancy for him.

He said that the girl's mother, Bose reported the matter at the Jikwoyi Police Station, after she found out that her daughter was pregnant and that Bose took her daughter to the hospital where a doctor confirmed that she was pregnant.

He said the victim confessed to her mother and the elder brother that her father was responsible for her pregnancy.
“My father on many occasions, had sexual intercourse with me when nobody was at home and warned me never to tell anybody about the affair," the girl [name withheld] revealed.

The offense is contrary to the Penal Code.

The presiding judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko ordered that Alabi’s bail application come in form of a motion and adjourned the case to July 3, for hearing.

A housewife, Mrs Rose Abbey from Edo State, south south Nigeria, was locked up in a micro finance bank called B C Cash located at Ipaja, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, following her inability to service the N17,000 loan she borrowed from the bank....

The woman alleged that she was abducted and beaten up and locked in a room at the bank at 170/172, Ipaja Road, Baruwa, Ipaja till the following day without allowing her access to her family.

She was expected to pay N2,000 weekly to the bank but she failed to do so, which led to her alleged detention.

Rose regained her freedom after her friend paid the N2,000 to the bank.

The police at Gowon Estate have arrested the manager of the bank, Mrs Princess Adesua and two other staff for illegally detaining the woman.

The mother of four kids was allegedly abducted in her work place by the manager and a staff identified as Wale for defaulting to pay the money as agreed.

She was locked up in the premises till the following day when her friend brought the money.

Narrating what happened, the victim told P.M.NEWS that she borrowed N17,000 from the bank to run her small scale business at Gowon Estate and the condition was that she will be paying back N2,000 every week.

She said she has been paying the money until last week when she was unable to pay because of poor sales.

She said when the manager confronted her about the payment, she told her that she did not meet up with the payment for the week because of poor sales.

Rose said the manager insisted that she must pay the money and dragged her to their office and locked her up along with another defaulter till the following day.

She said they prevented her from contacting her husband and they attempted to seize her phone and only allowed her to contact her friend who brought the money before she was released.

Rose also said when she got back home the following day, her husband who returned late on the day she was detained, asked her where she went. She said when she told him what happened, he did not believe but later confirmed that it really happened.

The matter was reported at Gowon Estate Police Division and the manager and two others were arrested and taken to the station.

The manager, Mrs Adesua addmitted that the woman slept in their office because she was not able to pay their money.

She explained that the woman entered into an agreement with the bank and borrowed some money.

Adesua said part of the agreement was that she would be paying N2,000 to the bank every week but she defaulted. She denied that she assaulted Rose, adding that she was only trying to recover the banks’ money.

The victims husband, Emmanuel Adeyemo Abbey told P.M.NEWS that he did not initially believe his wife until later when she showed the injury she sustained and confirmed from her friend who gave the bank the money. He said he was not aware that his wife was owing such money but said that was not an excuse to illegally detain her without informing the police.

Abbey said his children were left alone in the house and throughout that day, they did not eat anything.

When P.M.NEWS visited the police division where the matter was reported, the DPO was not around to comment on it.

However, a source at the station confirmed the arrest of Adesua and her staff and said they will soon be charged to court.

Researchers believe that there will be a breakthrough in finding a cure for HIV “within months”...


Danish scientists are expecting results that will show that “finding a mass-distributable and affordable cure to HIV is possible”.

They are conducting clinical trials to test a “novel strategy” in which the HIV virus is stripped from human DNA and destroyed permanently by the immune system.
The move would represent a dramatic step forward in the attempt to find a cure for the virus, which causes Aids.

The scientists are currently conducting human trials on their treatment, in the hope of proving that it is effective. It has already been found to work in laboratory tests.
The technique involves releasing the HIV virus from “reservoirs” it forms in DNA cells, bringing it to the surface of the cells. Once it comes to the surface, the body’s natural immune system can kill the virus through being boosted by a “vaccine”.

In vitro studies — those that use human cells in a laboratory — of the new technique proved so successful that in January, the Danish Research Council awarded the team 12 million Danish kroner (£1.5 million) to pursue their findings in clinical trials with human subjects.
These are now under way, and according to Dr Søgaard, the early signs are “promising”.
Dr Ole Søgaard, a senior researcher at the Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark who is part of the research team, said: “I am almost certain that we will be successful in releasing the reservoirs of HIV.
“The challenge will be getting the patients’ immune system to recognise the virus and destroy it. This depends on the strength and sensitivity of individual immune systems.”
Fifteen patients are currently taking part in the trials, and if they are found to have successfully been cured of HIV, the “cure” will be tested on a wider scale.
Dr Søgaard stressed that a cure is not the same as a preventative vaccine, and that raising awareness of unsafe behaviour, including unprotected sex and sharing needles, remains of paramount importance in combating HIV.
With modern HIV treatment, a patient can live an almost normal life, even into old age, with limited side effects.
However, if medication is stopped, HIV reservoirs become active and start to produce more of the virus, meaning that symptoms can reappear within two weeks.
Finding a cure would free a patient from the need to take continuous HIV medication, and save health services billions of pounds.
The technique is being researched in Britain, but studies have not yet moved on to the clinical trial stage. Five universities — Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, London, University College, London and King’s College, London — have jointly formed the Collaborative HIV Eradication of Reservoirs UK Biomedical Research Centre group (CHERUB), which is dedicated to finding an HIV cure.
They have applied to the Medical Research Council for funding to conduct clinical trials, which will seek to combine techniques to release the reservoirs of HIV with immunotherapy to destroy the virus.
In addition, they are focusing on patients that have only recently been infected, as they believe this will improve chances of a cure. The group hopes to receive a funding decision in May.
“When the first patient is cured in this way it will be a spectacular moment,” says Dr John Frater, a clinical research fellow at the Nuffield School of Medicine, Oxford University, and a member of the CHERUB group.
“It will prove that we are heading in the right direction and demonstrate that a cure is possible. But I think it will be five years before we see a cure that can be offered on a large scale.”
The Danish team’s research is among the most advanced and fast moving in the world, as that they have streamlined the process of putting the latest basic science discoveries into clinical testing.
This means that researchers can progress more quickly to clinical trials, accelerating the process and reaching reliable results sooner than many others.
The technique uses drugs called HDAC Inhibitors, which are more commonly used in treating cancer, to drive out the HIV from a patient’s DNA. The Danish researchers are using a particularly powerful type of HDAC inhibitor called Panobinostat.
Five years ago, the general consensus was that HIV could not be cured. But then Timothy Ray Brown, an HIV sufferer — who has become known in the field as the Berlin Patient — developed leukaemia.
He had a bone marrow transplant from a donor with a rare genetic mutation that made his cells resistant to HIV. As a result, in 2007 Mr Brown became the first man to ever be fully cured of the disease.
Replicating this procedure on a mass scale is impossible. Nevertheless, the Brown case caused a sea change in research, with scientists focusing on finding a cure as well as suppressing the symptoms.
Two principal approaches are currently being pursued. The first, gene therapy, aims to make a patient’s immune system resistant to HIV. This is complex and expensive, and not easily transferrable to diverse gene pools around the world.

IT is indeed a trying time for 37-year-old Mrs Medina Saula, who has been chased out of her matrimonial home as a result of the embarrassment she has caused herself and her husband.

The reason behind this is no more than her unclad pictures currently circulating on the internet and which
are being transferred from one phone to the other through Bluetooth.And the man suspected to have posted the unclad pictures is no one than Medina’s lover, Adebayo Onifade who allegedly took the action to get back at Medina when their love affair turned sour towards the end of 2012.

The case was said to have been reported to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Saki Division, Mohammed Suleiman Baba, a Superintendent of Police, by Medina’s father when the news started circulating across Saki town and turned into a huge embarrassment for the lady’s family.

Crime Reports learnt that Onifade, a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps member serving at the Oyo State command, started a love affair with the married woman about four years ago. The ‘couple’ was said to have been so overtaken with love so much that they were almost inseparable and always found time to be together in their love nest at Bristhood Hotel, Saki.

However, it got to a time the centre could no longer hold for the lovers and Medina decided to opt out of the relationship. This reportedly did not go down well with Onifade who was alleged to have resorted to blackmail, threatening to reveal to the whole world, the unclad pictures of his lover which were taken in the heat of passion.

In the pictures which were also made available to Crime Reports, there was part of the private area of the woman that was spared from being exposed to the world. There was even a particular one where her thighs were spread and the entire make-up of her vulva could be seen clearly. It was pure obscenity.

The pictures were said to have infuriated Medina’s husband’s family and they ordered her out of their son’s home on April 20. Though she initially went back to her parents’ house, Medina was said to have vacated the town with her two children due to the shame she was feeling about her circulated unclad pictures.

Medina’s husband reportedly got wind of her love affair with Onifade, and was said to have once pursued the lover boy when he got information that Onifade had picked his wife with an okada and was taken her to their love nest. The man was said to have dealt with Onifade but he reportedly went to Saki police station to report a case of assault, without disclosing his relationship with the man’s wife.

“It is true that I showed her the picture. I also showed her husband but I later deleted them. I was not the one who posted the pictures on the internet. If there is a way they can use technology to detect the person who posted them on the internet, then I would be vindicated.”
