Also, no matter how into recession the UK is, jobs still exist.
Are they opportunities for technical skills in the IT sphere e.g. computer/network techie openings?
Thanks

I know many of us thrash the 3 Lions as mediocre yet watch the same players week in , week out in the EPL
Could the problem be non availability of a coach who could mold them into a well oiled team unit? huh huh huh huh
Just thinking aloud.

I laugh in NL at people shredding Capello here. What nonsense.

What the dude has achieved in football, any English manager can only dream of. While we're at it, aren't we talking about the same England that can't find a coach among their ranks? Last time an English manager managed England, they could not even qualify for the Euros.

Capello should pocket his $12m jare, go back home, and manage his Capello index. Who knows, Chelsea might come after him, when they get rid of Villas-Boas at the end of the season grin.
As for England, we all know what's gonna happen in June. Another 'heroic' performance, and back home empty-handed tongue
Thank you jo! grin grin grin grin grin
What is world class in a coach that cannot blend the mediocre English team into world beaters?
Capello has nver played exciting footie with all the trophies under his belt
go check
Was he not sacked by Madrid despite winning the league?
Zambia's coach Herve Renard has built a team that works for each other void of egos and superstars
That apart, they play exciting footie
but capello? huh huh huh huh huh
NO!
Believe its the best thing to happen to English footie

If we go down this route where will it end. If ACN is in the centre of power tommorrow and a CPC or APGA or PDP man with certain competencies is engaged to tackle a very critical issue of national importance, he should reject it on what basis, the toga of party politics ??. Nigerian comes first before politics. The institution being investigated is not a political one and affects us all. If the government feels he is the best man for the job so be it. He should drop his party mentality and get to work. Period. Is he called to serve the nation or serve PDP. Is it only PDP that buys petrol or is the NNPC a PDP department. Let us draw the line between politics and governance. It is getting lost on a good number of us. If we go down this route very soon there will be political party banks, industries, tv. stations, and perhaps even fast food joints. Funny.

i notice you've had this problem since 2008.
How have you been faring?
Your story might inspire one or two people, if you share.
2008, I don't recall posting about this as a problem before or even in 2008.
The quandary is really how to advance my career.

with IT, it doesnt matter what your BSc is or isnt.
What matters is the passion/drive, and sometimes: acumen.
True, but most employers have a bias for academic degrees along with certs

why UK?
You have plans for life after graduating there?
UK is about the only country that has one year conversion courses for graduates who lacked a significant amount of computing in undergraduate study.
Please do you know any other country that offers such?
American, German, Canadian schools don't seem to offer such.
University of Cape Town offers such a program but it's duration is 2 years
That's too long;also the longer the program runs means more expenses to drain the student's pocket. wink wink wink wink

if you are thinking of coming back to Nigeria, the India option gives you better ROI.
You can always do your MSc here and lecture.
Another Nigerian degree? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
I don't think so.
The abysmal standard of Nigerian education makes that obvious innit especially when you are talking about science and engineering courses.
I believe the India route would be far so ideal if all one sought to do was work in the industry, as a technologist and ultimately a consultant.

just did, or tried to.
Now, share your inspirational story.
www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-600485.0.html
I saw pmy's link sometime last week and his story made me think I could get superior insights especially from industry insiders if I posted about my situation.
Like I said,I'm already conversant with Cisco, Microsoft, hardware and an average of Linux&Wireless technologies.
Going to India will broaden my industry acumen, I know, yet its my quest for academic strengthening in the same field which is putting me at this crossroad.

Thanks yamakuza for taking time to read through and reply
Appreciate it
Look forward to more insights from you  and others to help make the right decision.

Hi y'all wink wink wink wink wink wink wink
I'm caught in a quandary regarding how to proceed my in IT journey undecided undecided undecided undecided
I've worked as an IT trainer and currently own a cafe but my undergraduate degree isn't in IT
I'm very interested in Networking Technology and used to hold a CCNA [it expired this year] along with my MCSA
Right now,I'm thinking of going to the UK for a Master's program around April/September to cover my academic deficiency and because I'm thinking of becoming a University lecturer sometime much much later
Yet due to the cost, I'm also thinking about networking& security certifications like the CCIE,UNIX, CEH and SANS/GIAC Institute offerings i.e. build my own Cisco lab for hands on training and go to India/other countries to sharpen my skills
Please share your insights
I would really appreciate it grin grin grin grin grin grin
Thanks wink wink smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley

so gud 2 find dis kind of thread on NL. I personally have a lot of questions i've bn willing 2 ask.

Wat bothers me is dat pple kip sayin Cisco platforms are better. I want 2 knw if continuing wit microsoft is ok
Cisco or/& Microsoft a matter of preference
It also depends on what kind of work you do
If you are more into technical support aiding desktop users& providing them services go for Microsoft& Cisco CCNA
If you are desire backbone network support& infrastructure, embrace Cisco especially CCNP, CCIE& UNIX as the Internet runs on UNIX

PoliticsRe: Opponents Of National Conference, Enemies Of Nigeria – Aregbesola. by ochukoccna: 12:28pm On Feb 07, 2012
Gbawe:
This is the crux of the matter. The fact is that those speaking about defending the unity of Nigerians , in the face of current developments, are fraudsters who only want to maintain the status quo. No one is more empowered than David Mark to push for a re-negotiation of the terms of our unity to account for present day reality. The fact is that the likes of Mark, IBB, OBj, Anenih et al love the current arrangement favouring elitism, continuous historical priviledge for a select few, garish bigmanism, "winner takes all" mentality and the hideously unfair control of Nigeria's wealth for use by a very small percentage of folks. There is not an iota of social equity or devotion to leadership for the common man in those folks.

Ordinary Nigerians are being duped by their wealthy 'local champions'. There is no basis , in factual context, for "our oil" or "we feed Nigeria" arguments when majority of Nigerians benefit little from the Nation's oil wealth. All these feudalistic claims should be levelled at the elite ruling class, from all corners of Nigeria, and not fellow ordinary Nigerians who enjoy similar levels of poverty whether they are from an oil producing State or not.

The only folks benefitting from Nigeria's oil wealth, and indeed other sources of national income, are those involved with Governance. Will it take Nigerians a million years to gain the sophistication to see that? We are better off challenging the status quo that condemns most Nigerian, regardless of their State of origin, to common poverty and dearth of development instead of feudalistically viewing other ordinary Nigerians as our enemies. Our callous and greedy leaders, from all Nigerian States, are the enemies. We must seek to force them to give us a better deal. Aregbesola is correct here.
So on point Gbawe.
Only wish the ethnic secessionists will reason this way for their instigators& by extension Masters are in on the booty alongside those muting ethnic expressions.
