yes weather is part of it, but ignorance and stupidity is the biggest cause of it here in nigeria.
I have watched many mechanics damage brain box buy simply playing arround with the battery terminals  in the bonnet.
HOW:
    by testing a new car bulb using unclothed wired to touch the battery terminals to see if it lights up.
    by testing a new kick starter to be installed using wires to touch the body of the car and the baterry terminals to see if it spins well.
    by using wires to bridge and short circuit the fan terminal, while touching the other part of the wire to the battery terminal to see if it spins well
    and works fine. I have seen brain box of both big and small cars being damaged like this.
The list is endless. You see,when all these are done,sparks are been produced on the battery terminals.your mechanic might think its just a harmless spark, but unknowingly to him the sparks has simply destroyed the brain box.
So when next u have issues to fix in your car be watchfull with what your mechanic is doing.

@ poster, I am 1 of the N/landers seal 777 was talking about. I had a smiliar problem wif my toyota camry 1998 model(tiny light).It was seal777.onwan and sienna's advice i took. They all said I should get a rewire or change my brain box.And I bought a new brain box and boom,the problem was solved.Mean while I had changed my air flow meter 2wice,changed fuel filter and other components.
NOTE:most of these so called machanics cant use these scanners very well.

@ eleven. dont u ever try 2 use a hyundia engine to substitute for a kia engine.remember if its not pandol its not the same as panadol.I guarantee u that if u try it ,u will begin to get issues with that car, just a matter of time.fairly used kia engines can be imported, and that should do the magic for u.or better still go and get ur self a new car.

whether visco 2000 or mobil xhp or tonnimass or even oando,all these are 20w-50 used for petrol engines.they all come in different colours. visco 2000 is  redish in colour, so when used u begin to feel that its goin to take a while b4 the colour goes blackish.some mecahnics even claim that visco 2000  comes with oil treatment because of its red colour,but thats a big lie. mobil products are certainly the best whether for high mileage cars or not.infact 1 of my mechanics said visco 2000 is for taxi drivers because they are non-challant when it comes to changing their engine oil. I use mobil xhp for my camry.

thats always the problem with volkswagen cars.the problem i can tell you is simply elecrical related. but i know that you can drive the car for the next 10years with that same problem and it wouldnt cause any damage to the car.I know some1 who drives a vw jetta with the same problem and he has driven it for years without any problem.

my brother,that gen will not only kill but murder any appliance that uses battery, from phones to laptops. bigger gens are ok. but your best bet is always NEPA or PHCN.

hello, pls i av d same problem like checko,but mine is just 1 unlike his own that is 3 errror msgs.
but i followed ur advice after downloading the autorun stuff it showed me the files that were not found which i believe is causing the problem,i tried deleting them from the autorun window but it says ERROR DELETING START SETTING:ACCESS IS DENIED.
