This piece is quite long but if you be patient enough to read to the end it would be of great benefit if this is relevant to you. The principle I would share here is not only relevant for the above mentioned but also applicable to every sinful habit.

I know a good number of people (mostly Christians) who have voiced out to me their sincere struggle to quit pornography and other sexual addictions. then i never had any definite advice for such cos i was also addicted to pornography and failed severally in trying to stop the act. it bothered me though because I was a devout Christian and I honestly did all i could to stop the habit but it just seemed so impossible to stop. i gave all my will power, made resolutions and created all forms of restrictions to prevent me from falling into the habit, I prayed about it, read my bible regularly and always attended church services to the best of my ability but non of those things worked. I always felt guilty after indulging in the act and i knew this act was adversely affecting my spiritual growth. i often thought to myself, 'what is the the difference then between we Christians and the unbeliever who shuns God if we struggle with the same sinful habits they encounter?' is there no power available for we Christians to live above sinful addictions?'. it was later on that i discovered that there is indeed power available to Christians as i would expound it here.

first off, i would like to dissect the philosophy of this sinful habit or any sinful habit for that matter. Any Christian who has struggled/is struggling with any form of sexual addiction would admit that sin is a desire. its a very strong desire that overrides every moral ideals or value in your mind. the fact you know you shouldn't be involved in such act doesn't in anyway prevent you from committing the act. so even if you read 100X the part of the bible that says 'thou shall not fornicate', it in no way wanes that desire within you to fornicate. the woman caught in adultery knew the law very well. in fact, unlike what we have now, she knew that if she was caught, she would be disgraced publicly and stoned to death in the open for all to see. no space for mercy, repentance or a 2nd chance. yet, the fear of shame and death didn't prevent her from sinning. this is a clear indication of how powerful sinful sexual desire is. So the basic reason Christians engage in sexual sins is not because they don't know its wrong, its simply because of the overwhelming desire in them. Now, the ground breaking truth that delivered me was the understanding that sinful desire is not the deepest root of sinful habit. The deepest root of all sinful habits is THE LAW.. Biblical proof of this is in 1 Corinthians 15:56b, Romans 5:20, Romans 7:8b this knowledge is important for anyone to break out of the cycle of sin.

it is also important to note that every man born is born under the law Romans 3:9,19, which means he lives as a slave to the law and would be overcome by forms of sinful addictions in his life. The only group of people that are not subject to the law are believers. every other individual is under the law and would remain under the tyranny of sin. Now, even as a Christian, if you don't have understanding of Grace and you still live by the principles of the law, sexual sin and sinful habits would still be a master over you. The law is the power of God against man. it is referred to as the ministry of death in 2Corinthians 3:7. Grace on the other hand is the power of God available to man Romans 1:16. we Christians need to understand how to rightly divide the word in order not to fall back to the old covenant of the law where sin makes us its slave. the principle of grace is; that anyone who puts faith in Christ's finished work is declared righteous by God. your sins can never come between you and God again because Jesus has paid the price for all your sins, even future sins. understand that your sinful nature has been crucified on the cross. realize that that desire for sin has already been destroyed 2000+ yrs ago on the cross and the reason those sin symptoms have been manifesting in your life is because you have, in your mind, remained under the law and unconsciously separated yourself from the provisions of the power of God available to you. Understand that you have been delivered from the law by putting your faith in Christ. Its only within the realm of the law that any sinful habit can be a master over you. I would end with this verse Romans 5:21 "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under Grace" (KJV). What that simply tells me is, if you remain under the law, sin has dominion over you. your escape is grace which is already made available to you in Christ. I trust that everyone who this piece is relevant to would eventually see the power of God manifested to live above sexual sins as I've experienced. Grace.

I have searched throughout matthew,mark,luke and John i haven't and yet to see where Jesus commissioned christianity. Christianity was founded by paul. Have you not asked yourself this question why are pastors always preaching and backing up their doctrines with the epistles and rarely the gospel. The answer is that the EPISTLES is the alternative to the GOSPELS(Matthew,mark,luke,john). All religions are institutions of men(man made). No religion is divine or from God. like i said, if its a lie I still lived a good life here on earth. you should also ask yourself what you stand to loose if the bible is true. you have no excuse then. you willingly pushed away the truth and damned the consequences

if you don't believe the word of God, the answer is simple, die.., if he is the truth you would see him. if he aint, then we just die and be forgotten. dying is the only surefire way to assert your opinion or mine.

I believe you mean the tree of knowledge of good and evil. thats the one God expressly told them not to eat of. God created man in his own image, this means man has the ability to think, decide and make choices, just like God. a garden where everything is permissible without any restriction whatsoever would not enable man to express this God-like ability, hence, a need for something out of bound of which man would have to express his will not to touch in obedience to God or can do otherwise.

well, its either what you say is true or God's word is. eventually we would find out whether we've been deceived or lived by the truth when we die. the reality is, if i die and find out I was totally wrong about God, and i just enter into nothingness/cease to exist, i still lived a good life here on earth. But if one holds on to pride and finally goes to the other side and realize he believed the lie, that the bible is true, that is an error that cannot be undone. you only have your chance to make the choice of what to believe here, and the frightening thing for either of us is that there is a truth and there is a lie. choose wisely.

If someone had told me i will be making a life changing decision like this many years ago i would have been enraged, not at he or she but at the force that would dare cause that.

Was born a catholic, baptised by a priest and cofirmed by the state bishop. I annexed to this by becoming a member of the legion of mary (tho left at one time) i was still faithful to the blessed virgin mary with my bead ritual.

The truth is i only had to do this and that and then the other and relax. By relax, i mean do what ever i wanted. Club, have sex, drink, curse, lie, cheat, disobey other authorities, go nude etc as long as i came back for confession all the time and obtained mercy from God through the priest, i was fine. Maybe they didnt think it was fine i.e my lifestyle but the silence and indifference they showed, gave me the wrongest impression. After all i was always encouraged to go for confession like my life was hanging on it.

This is something that all catholics will understand. After confession we feel a bit unburdened with guilt...for a while. I dont know about others, but mine was not always more than an hour and i would be back to square one (or may be i never left there but thought i did). I was not freaky about the sunday communion thing like others cos i didnt think i was worthy.

Going to the university exposed me to other religious groups. I didn't like the way they shouted while praying but i admired the way they reverred the bible and talked about Christ more.
I thought the catholic church was doing little in the teaching of biblical truths but was still a good model for other churches, mushroom churches.

There were times i made resolutions to turn a new leaf but they always never came to a fruition.
Up till now. I couldn't, i cant keep them. All the rules of right living get lost on me. I just cant change. Talked with our priest every day about this after our doctrinal classes (joined the Opus dei) He suggested i read books of saints who had lived and overcame evil and of course by following the many laid down rules and rituals of the church. I read about mother Theresa, Pope John Paul the II, Saint José maria. Still nothing. It only made me feel unworthy but no power in them.

I decided to read the bible at last after so many procrastinations. I started with John and i have not seen any slight resemblance with the Church. I will continue with Matthew, Mark and Luke this month.

So many things in this old boring book are startling me.

I have personally had the same realization about this and would advice you to study more and listen to messages on the gospel of grace. you've actually made an important progress in your christian walk; the realization that religious activities and rules of the church have no power to change the evil desires within a christian. knowing all the right rules and laws does'nt deliver either from the lust lurking in the heart of man (including the christian). life transformation takes place by the the grace of Jesus and understanding his finished work on the cross. God bless you as you find the truth

I recently made some research on the scriptures of the quaran and I found that it correlated with many parts of the Christian bible. Regardless of the great volumes of both books (quaran and the bible), I believe they both have a central/basic message for humanity. I would appreciate for a muslim who really understands the teachings of the quaran to give the primary message of the quaran in 1 or 2 simple sentences. thank you.

Christ died for all sins even future willful sins. come to think of it, most of the sins (even future sins) of the christian are willful sins. in this context, what Paul is saying is that anyone who willfully rejects Christ as saviour after such an individual has come to realize and understand that eternal life can only come through faith in Christ and not by keeping of the law, if such an individual willfully refuses to put faith in Christ and continues in the law, then that individual has no more sacrifice for his sins. no other saviour would be given to such a person. sin in this context doesnt refer to sinful acts, it refers to rejection of Christ. If you remember, Jesus first made mention of this 'unpardonable sin' and in the context were he spoke of it, the teachers of the law accused him of healing by the power of a demon. they rejected him as the Son of God, and referred to him as belzeebul (a demon). what he meant was, if you reject me and the power of my salvation, expecting some other salvation/saviour, there is no other saviour or sacrifice to be given for your sins. hope this helps.

A lot of dust has been raised regarding this issue of gender equality, the role women play in the family and society in general. I considered a community outside the human community in order to analyze this issue-the lion community. the question is: are men and women really equal? No!!. Do men and women deserve equal rights, opportunities and audience in the society? by all means Yes!!. on the former regarding inequality between men and women i would explain using a pride of lions. now, lions are the only true social cats, i.e they live in groups called pride consisting of several related female lions and a single or 2 male lions. needless to say, the male lions are bigger, stronger and heavier than the females. their main job is protection of the pride. the females on the other hand do most of the hunting, providing their kill for the males and the cubs. the males seldom involve in hunting, because regardless of their great strength, their weight prevents them from attaining speeds as high as the female, and in the wild, while hunting a fast moving impala or antelope, speed is everything, hence the females do the hunting. males only get involved when really big game (such as the buffalo, hippo, e.t.c) is involved, of which the lions don't do the chasing. they wait for the females to slow down and weaken the animal and then the male's enormous weight and powerful jaws become very important to finally kill the animal. how does this relate to we humans? Men differ from women basically in physical strength. God made the male lions stronger in order for them to provide security and protection to the cubs and females. the females and the young cubs go to bed every night knowing that a heavy artillery watches over them. hence, his strength was given to him, not just for him, but primarily for the benefit of his pride members. Also, there is no strife for supremacy by the females towards the males. they understand its not a competition because they form a composite team together and the males power is actually to the pride's advantage. she instinctively knows that he does a better job at protection. the males too understand how important the females are, they stand the risk of starving to death. the point is the male and female have individual roles to play in the family and it is necessary for these roles to be clearly defined for less friction in the home. any man who uses the strength given to him by God in order to oppress the weaker female counterpart has essentially failed as a man. women should be protected in the society, not oppressed. they should be allowed the opportunity to express their own opinions and their right opinions should be honoured because men are in no way intellectually superior to women or vice versa. women are also supposed to submit to their husbands because the man is essentially the head of the family. unlike the lion, in addition to protection, its also his duty to provide for the family. we should look at family/relationships as a team not a competition.

the seal is related like MathsChic rightly pointed out but she explains that it serves in preventing exchange of pressure between the fridge compartment and the atmosphere, which adds up. i don't think it can be related to friction cos that would mean there is no friction when the fridge finally opens easily, which really doesn't make sense.

I've experienced SP a few times but I personally don't believe it can be 'entirely' attributed to science every time it occurs. the feeling of a presence entering into the room is my greatest concern tho and your science theory doesn't explain that experience. science is just one of the theories and according to wiki, the scientific pathophysiology of SP is not concretely defined. science tells a lot but it CANNOT explain everything and all the powers that governs the universe.
