Odingo1 I read your post your are right in many aspects but wrong in some areas: renewal of visa depends entirely on the rules in the particular place where you reside. Its not an east German thing. No! I know several cities in the south, in the north, west, when you renew they ask you to reblock money like the first time you applied for a visa. So depending on where you find yourself you might reblock another 10,000 euro plus. But there are some lenient places that will make do with checking the amount you earn from 3 recent payslips. Let's say, monthly you earn 450 and the required amount per month is 850 that means that you have to prove the balance of 400 multiplied by 12 months. So in total you prove funds of 4,800 in addition to your payslips. Now in some areas this balance must still be blocked. Others don't ask you to. Some areas don't care about your work, only funds. Germany is a varied country. What works in one place may not work in another place. I have seen so many instances
Also as a student if you present yourself at a company to do full time job they mostly would not risk employing you because your visa restricts you to 20hrs during school and full time holidays. So don't bank on full time job. Besides a couple of people have received warnings from foreigners office as per visa rules on working. You honestly do not want to be in thier bad books.
And those saying 250euros is enough for accommodation. I have been laughing. Any accommodation of 250 must be subsidised, bare minimum and mostly in a hostel. Or mostly a shared accommodation, with the discomfort of shared communal areas toilet, bathroom with other people. If you can't get into the list for hostels, In the private market a decent simple accommodation is far more expensive than that 250-350 euro you guys are quoting. Not talk of the monthly the bills that you need to pay for electricity, heating, water, and a lot more

You said it all bro, Germany is very varied, each state with their own palava, the country have changed so much in less than 5 years in this student visa issue. Also the cost of living is high.

Yes you can see part time job but all this jobs are not steady because they are contract jobs that may last for 3, 4 or more month’s. In situation like this what you will do is to make up your mind then come and face it. To me renewing student visa is not a problem as far as you doing some courses each semester and have some money in your account. Only few state request for 10k euros in account before visa renewal and they are mostly eastern German states.

For renewing your visa, you don’t need to present a full 10k euros again, except if you are in some crazy East German state that will deal with you as a black man if don’t have much money in your account.

Some western German state with 1k euros in your account they will renew your visa. Visa renewal is not a problem. You don’t need to call home for another money.

Your major concern should be how to pay back your loan not visa renewal, paying back any money require full time job and physical good health to manage combining working full time with going to school and sometimes job will stop. Not all the time that job is available.

You got me confused, I thought you said I should be working towards not touching my BA after 3months of settling....now you saying working as student can’t earn me money for my basic bills unless I work full time which would affect my studies.

So what you saying is I’ll an extra 4.2m to renew my visa that’s exhausting almost 8.4m for studies

What I am saying is that in Germany, they have mini job( menial job or part time job) and Full time Job, then mini job cannot pay your bills, you have to support with your block account. Full time job which is 8hours per a day Monday to Friday(any day you did not come na sack be that unless if you are sick and get a paper from hospital).This full time job will make you not to touch your block account. But imagine been on a night shift work starting by 10pm to 6am carrying heavy motor parts. Reaching your house by 7.30 am how will you attend lectures again without sleeping.

We fail and fail courses. The struggle nobi here. If want to pay the block account money back then you have to disobey the 20hrs rule otherwise you can’t pay your debt back and your block account money will be going down monthly.

Part time menial won’t be enough for you to run your monthly expenses, you must touch your block account well if you do only menial job while studying. Full time job is a must otherwise your block account will finish.

And doing full time Job will make you not to fit into schooling properly, your schooling will just be anyhow, if you manage get grade 4 for a course you go dey happy say you don pass that course.

It is very difficult to repay the borrowed block account money because many factors will come into place. Last last you maybe forced to cut off with the person that borrowed you 10k €uros in Naija and change your number when the Reality set in. They no dey tell man.

In the East Germany, racism is high, sometimes they attack foreigners,no much companies for full time job. They take everything serious, no overworking, renewal of visa you Must have big money in your account unlike in other places sometimes with your job contract your student visa maybe renewed.

If taking out €200 from my Block account is it, I don’t have a problem with that...that’s saving up to €500-600 from my BA.

Heavy duty job will earn you a minimum of 1200€ or higher monthly but it is a full time job.Is difficult to combine it with school work, so when you do full time job while going to school, you will be failing some courses or not having good grade. But most school allow failing and resitting a failed course 3 times before withdrawing the studentship and possible deportation.

If you say taking 200€ from block account is not a problem then how will you pay your uncle his money back and still have some money for visa renewal. I think you should be working towards not touching your block account after 3 months of settling down.

I want to work, to take care of my basic bills while studying.
Then after studies i should work full time and get luxury...but as a student I wish to work so I can save a large chunk of my block account money.

My advice for you.

You can give your uncle the money back in one year if you are not going to school regularly or do 1 or 2 courses per semester but there are factors that limit so many things.
1) Your age and if you have energy to do heavy duty jobs like offloading containers or lifting objects in car companies for long time then I will encourage you to come. Life in Germany no easy.
2)learn the language if possible
3) Avoid East Germany if na all out hustling you are coming.
4) Heavy Duty work dey depending on your strength
5) student mini job of 450€ cannot sustain you or pay your basic bills otherwise your block account will go down, you must do full time jobs as the semester is going on because no much holiday inbetween semesters and make sure you don’t fail a course more than 3 times. So doing student school office work no make sense. You have to go to the field and battle it.

Monthly expenses include
1. Average 250€ rent
2. feeding 150€
3. insurance above 30 years( private insurance from 25€ to 35€, then below 30 years 90€ per month for compulsory public insurance).
4. Radio tax 17€
5. Recharge card 10€
6. other things 50€
So if you are using private insurance 550€ can go for one month then public insurance when you are below 30 years then 650€ can go for one month.
