I love Amaechi brand of politics: In 2007 when he used the court to wrestle power from his Cousin:OMEHA ;he wooed to his side ALL the political leaders,traditional leaders and elders to gain acceptance and stability. After stabilising he dumped and snubbed all the forces that helped in power.Fresh graduates from UST and UNIPORT that had no political experience/profile except for campus unionsm were drafted into Amaechi political Machinaries as councillors,LG chairmen,state Assembly men,Commissioners and others positions.In Rivers state only Amaechi is Poltical Plato,Aristotle,Socratis,Solomon,Archemides,Mohammend and Ghandis.When he calls a meeting he opinions and opinions are superior NO one dare or chanllenged so he grew in limbs and bounds and became arrogant and uncontrollable.This is the Amaechi misteries and undoings.Power corrupt absolute powers corrupt absolutely.Someone need to learn from Amaechi W-A-H-A-L-L-A

chronique: It's unfortunate how a lot of pple who do not live in Rivers state,are supporting Amaechi even when they do not have a clue about what goes on there. I do not live in Rivers but from information and documents I was opportuned to have about the way Amaechi rules Rivers,it's obvious he has issues with his people. We were suppose to conduct an interview but couldn't for fear of security of lives of crew members as we weren't guaranteed any form of protection by our would be hosts. Some of them were locked up unjustly and reasons for this was the battle between Amaechi and Omehia. I salute the youths of that community but it's just unfortunate we couldn't help them.

Amaechi has always gotten sympathy and profound support from ACN/CPC folks even here on nairaland. Nothing really changed. Amaechi has never been more popular than GEJ in Rivers State and will never be. He has just made the remaining part of his regime unnecessarily more difficult. He will be terribly distracted and frustrated. Forces will realign in Rivers State. Even some of his commissioners don't have the liver to fight this battle. He will have to reshuffle his cabinet and be more cautious of his friends, something that he never planned for this time.

General election is not an electoral college like the House of Representatives elections or the Governor's Forum Election.

Two South West states have elections in 2014, the outcome will have impact on the opposition's permutations, one of the two might go PDP.

Nassarawa is a PDP state.

It went CPC in 2011 as a result of grave political error similar to Kogi in 2003.

It won't repeat itself.

Funding is key, there seems no way the opposition can withstand the war-chest of the PDP, even if they empty the Lagos State treasury.

Perhaps, it may be the reason they want to include Rivers State too, but then, it's a drop in the ocean.

The business community is loving the reforms already, any change will bring alteration however slightly.

Some sections of the media (media has been an arm of the opposition) are trying to be independent.

Nigeria's media has largely been free but has never been independent. At least Channels TV is trying to be.

The monopoly of the opposition in the blogosphere is being broken.

The intellectual arm of the PDP is being emboldened; young and old lawyers, doctors, academics, artists, architects, bankers etc.

There are some political fruits that the PDP can boast no matter how you look at it; railway rejuvenation, power sector improvement (privatization), Boko Haram's imminent disgrace and routing, passable roads (patching by FERMA), take-off of additional Federal Universities (against heavy-handed administration of tuition fees in state controlled ones)

Some extraneous factors also will play, vis;

People's justifiable fear of the intention of the opposition - swimming against the tide in the declaration of state of emergency in three states, call to arms in the event of loss, inability to condemn the killings and bombings in the North by the opposition leaders and blaming them on the government etc.

Opposition's own distrust of each other, power-play, backstabbing, dominance by a particular interest, mismanagement of sensitive issues such as religion etc.

PDP's entrenched and wide spread influence across the country, they are just everywhere.
