To summarize this and to put this in context;
Boko Haram invades an area in Ghana and then Ghana begins to ‘kaboom’ hospitals and public areas in the Nation.

Whatever you do with that is up to you.
Thanks a lot @ Author

God1000:
Angelina jolie is an upstanding woman with a conscience, the man should not expect her to behave like him.

This Israel-Hamas war has exposed a lot of people, divided friends and families, but I will always say the truth and stand with the oppressed, killing innocent Palestinians under the guise of fighting Hamas is a serious war crime and crime against humanity, how can any sane person support the bombing of hospitals, schools, churches, mosques and refugee camps

Generations of families are being wiped out right in front of our eyes and some religious bigots are rejoicing, Arab leaders are cowards for doing absolutely nothing to help Palestinians.

Those of you insulting other people for calling out Israel should desist from such unholy act

If I will not make heaven for saying the truth, then so be it

I'm withdrawing my support for west as well because I hate double standard and hypocrisy

I lambasted Mr Putin when he invaded Ukraine but I'm beginning to have a change of mind about him

Some of you that idolized Mr Putin then, calling him a hero are now making a U-turn because he's saying the truth against Israel

Better, they would ask you how you intend to fund your Masters, accommodation plan, if you’d going back to your home country, the modules you are going to take, why did you choose the campus, address of the University, ranking of the University on different ranking platforms. What do you stand to benefit from the Masters.

I just completed my application to Ulster. Would like to know if they issue CAS after the initial 5500 deposit, or would one make another payment before CAS is issued.

More side note: If it’s not Northern Ireland Campus. Don’t come to ulster cos your result is determined in Belfast meaning if you can fail a course you’ve passed before.

After the initial deposit they will issue you a Pre-CAS then you do an interview. When you pass, you’d then be issued a CAS which you’d use for your visa.

Side note: Ulster no be great school ooh, just clearing you.

Career / Re: Is Japa Worth It? by OdogwuEkeke(m): 4:05pm On Jul 25, 2023
First, I will like to congratulate on being able to earn in dollars in Nigeria.
My japa journey took 7 years. 'Cold feet na normal thing'

I have failed multiple times hence I think I know exactly how you feel. I planned Canada,Belgium, Germany, South Africa and they all failed until Uk welcomed me.

To be honest there is no right and wrong answer to what you are seeking, some people come here and regret while some others are flourishing in Nigeria. Just this past weekend, I was talking to a guy close to one of Nigerias top skit maker/comedian and was told he makes on average $70,000 monthly with betting companies signing thousands of dollars deal with them. Such a person cannot make that amount anywhere and would be free of tax.

On the other hand, I got a software developer working for a company in the abroad and after a while, they felt it was not safe to have a team member have access to sensitive information about the company stay in Nigeria. He was told to leave.

Truth be told the stigma against Nigeria is very bad, most people are just waiting to change their passport. I know a good number of Nigerian celebrities that bought passports from caribbean countries just to ease movement and do business without stress.

My advice: Keep your job, do it with all your strength for like a year and then consider working for another country outside Nigeria. If you are the only black at the office, trust me,you might have issues with your colleagues. I wish you all the best

hazinibones:
Hello Nairalanders,

I have this decision bothering me. I know it is a personal problem, but I believe everyone need some guidance at every point in life.

Straight to it, I have been considering Japa for over two years now and I think the opportunity might be here but I am having a cold feet.

I recently started working for a foreign company as a software engineer and the pay is decent when converted to Naira. Enough to live an averagely comfortable life. But my challenge now is that, I have been talking to some friends that are outside the country and they keep telling me how life is not easy there and cost of living is super expensive out there.

I currently earn $3000, which I plan to either save and travel or startup a business here in Nigeria. Please, Nairalanders with experience, is it worth japa to live an almost average life for almost the rest of your life or investing here in Nigeria and growing wealth?

The healthcare and quality education benefit is there as an advantage for japa though.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Career / Re: Young People: Can You Manage Freedom by OdogwuEkeke(m): 5:52pm On Jul 18, 2023
Ki lon so??

omonnakoda:
Freedom means different things but here I am talking of external structure that controls your life and when that is removed
What is structure.

Someone else makes the rules and schedules your time.
Like in a boarding house
Time to wake
Do morning duties
Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
Classes
Sports
Labour
Etc

You have no say in the schedule and you must obey.

If you miss the meal times you don't eat and there is strict adherence to rules.
If you miss classes. You are punished etc

That is an EXTERNAL STRUCTURE

It may be similar in some families to different degrees

So. Freedom

The first time you go away from your family etc

You are living by yourself.
You can wake up when you like sleep when you like drink and most importantly
Wow you can now have SEX

So the issue here is are you more productive when there is an external structure ? Is structure necessary and how do you manage yourself when structure becomes YOUR responsibility

Time is the only thing you have As a young person and many schools don't teach how to manage time
How important is structure for your day

Advice; you don’t have to take it or believe me.
Remove Ulster University from your Uk plans.

Reasons.
1. The main University will not regard you as a student all through your studies meaning you will not have any feeling of being in a University. It’s going to feel more like you are doing a professional course lesson.

2. They block your account if you cannot pay up fees and you would be threatened with UKVI, trust me you might not be able to handle that with essays everywhere.

3. You might not have a graduation ceremony. Boys graduating now are told the earliest their graduation can be is December 2024. So all that gown and throwing of cap no go dey.

4. At this University, you really don’t have a break within semesters to work full-time, I don’t know why. They wouldn’t give you letter so you working full time is at your own risk lol.

5. Lecturers do not come to class. There was a semester, we started a course 5 weeks into the semester. This is a paid program Ooh.

6. Compliance Team might most likely reject your request if you want to travel, holiday or going to your home country lol, isn’t that funny

7. Lastly, if you think you know book like some of us and you come here, just dead the idea that you will score 86 and above.

If you doubt anything I said, kindly reach out to “any other person” studying at Ulster University Birmingham/London

I think it depends on where you are, plus that time frame you are in is called struggle period. Don’t be too hard on yourself, give it time and you’d be fine.

I have been saying this since 2019, whenever you are considering Germany have an Active plan B. I did a year of studies “in Nigeria” MSc at the University of Trier and still did not get an appointment till I relocated to the Uk. Getting my money out from the blocked account was not an easy feat. So guys reason am ooh.

Got a younger sister who has been in Germany since 2016 and still tells me how difficult it is to get a job without “fluent German”. She had study hard to B2 level even with an MSc to get a job. Some of you will say it’s easy Okay na lol.

One thing I found out is that the best thing is to pick your struggle and face it. Back and forth makes it worrisome. If you are in Germany, make it work. Most of these developed countries are similar, you’d have to work hard prayerfully to make it your promise land.

All the best Patriots

Hgf1:

I got appointment today for category B I cancelled it immediately . I booked March 2022, I am in Canada now. If I had waited for germany I wouldn’t be in canada. My canada process took just 5months but I will choose Germany over Canada with my experience here in Canada .The cost of living here in canada is too high. Tuition is very high and my monthly earnings over 75percent goes to bills. My tuition cost 36500 dollars , If I have gone to Germany I won’t pay tuition and the cost of living will be low and I will earn same amount I earn here in canada or even more in Germany and will be able to save more money. Canada is tough and difficult to plan. Germany is a very good country and I wonder why those in Germany saying they still want to come to canada .Canada doesn’t have enough jobs and the little Jobs available here are very competitive even menial jobs . Germany has a lot of factories and manufacturing plants and more jobs than Canada. Most people won’t know what is going on here In canada until they come in. Asides language barrier I advice anyone in Germany to stay back in Germany.

It’s when some of these ladies reach here they would then appreciate Nigerian men more.

All those free outing ends at Muritala Mohammed. Foreign men hardly date Nigerian ladies which is quite strange cos you’d think they’d be head over heels over you cos of the “glutes”.

One thing I’d like to add is that regardless, it’s easy to approach women here. You might not just have the time to do a lot of it. I went on multiple dates with a teacher in a school I do cleaning. (This can never happen in Nigeria)

Like OP said, Nigerians need to do better to have a good image, treat people well and don’t be too desperate. The Jamo girls I meet would say the Nigerian men here are the ones spreading STDs and just with them for papers.

They do like us to be honest but that stereotype lingers (fraud and papers). Met a Brit Nigerian girl we had a nice time but I didn’t want to date her and she was confused. Not everybody will chose papers over peace of mind. She was just too wild hence I aborted the mission to date her.

Personally, I am leaning towards the Jamaican girls. They have been the sweetest beings I have met in my life. They treat you nice and cook like goddesses. My advice is that don’t mess with their emotions because they just normally have a dead beat Dad, women are better off than men in Jamaica. Again, not all but most.

If you are a funny guy particularly in the Uk, you can have any girl you want. I’d say that again “ANY”

Nigerians, please be a good example wherever you are until you change citizenship abeg.

God bless Africa

uche87:
Virtually every week, a Nigerian abroad comes out on social media to lament the scarcity of partners for meaningful romantic relationships. In recent times, we have had a more frequent outcry from women. Not just average women but beautiful and classy ones. What do you think is the problem? Are the men going extinct? Let's dive into this topic from a UK experience.

Have you ever felt lonely despite being in a very crowded space? It is a weird feeling. Everybody wants to help and at the same time, nobody wants to help. This is what dating in the United Kingdom seems like.

Here are some reasons why it might be challenging finding a partner abroad:

(1) Culture shock:

The United Kingdom is a multicultural society. You get to meet Indians, Africans, Chinese, Pakistanis, Europeans, and generally people from different works of life. Their belief systems, behaviours, and different approach to issues are different. People naturally avoid what they find strange and this could affect romantic relationships.

(2) Ethnic Division

In most cities in the UK, people don't mix especially outside work. The people have doctorate degrees in 'minding their businesses'. The Chinese roll with the Chinese, Indians to Indians and Nigerians roll with their own. People just feel more comfortable with their own.

(3) Too fast, too busy:

Life in the UK is just too busy and fast especially if you are a fresh immigrant. You might have to deal with the rigours of work and school as they run concurrently. These two engagements might make a whole year look like 6 months. Oftentimes, romantic relationships take a secondary position. Some people would pick shifts over romantic dates because that is what pays the bills.

(4) Historical concerns:

Before the tier 4 visas became popular, most Africans saw the locals as keys to their stay in the country. Relationships have always been a means to an end in the UK. A selfish end so to speak. The nefarious activities of internet fraudsters have always complicated interracial relationships. For this reason, most tier 4 visa holders or citizens are wary of new entrants.

A lady who holds a British passport or Tier 2 visa might doubt the love interest of a suitor holding a tourist or student visa. There is widespread distrust in the country and nobody wants to be used as a ladder to step up. Consequently, some potential good men slip under the radar.

(5) Stereotype:

Nigerians don't have the best reputation in the UK. This is related to the previous point made. This has led to hasty generalisation and unwarranted assumptions. On dating sites/apps, some people will not talk to you because you are a Nigerian. This might be due to an adverse experience or an ordeal told by a friend, or family member about their experience with a Nigerian.

(6) Ego:

The UK has so many successful women. Most of them become big-headed as career success and financial breakthroughs come. They tend to desire men in or above their social/economic class. But African men in their supposed class fear women like them because of issues around control. Men don't want to travel on a ship with two captains. Before you know it, one woman is still single at 40 despite her beauty and achievements.

(7) Small population of Nigerians:

Despite the Japa Syndrome, Nigerians are in the minority in the UK. Out of a population of over 67 million people, Nigerians account for just 0.5% which is 271,390 in England and Wales. Most Nigerians come to the UK married. These two factors limit the available options on who to date. Even if you want to consider someone outside your ethnic background, they might not be interested in you.

(cool Racism

Due to the sensitivity of this topic, I will not dwell too much on it. It has been criminalized, but it is still what it is. Coloured people are not really in demand except for people who just want to briefly explore. Call that jungle fever!

(9) Lack of intentional efforts:

In the UK, you have to consciously work towards getting married. Attend social gatherings, meet people, shoot your shots, join dating apps, join churches, approach people for relationship referrals, and never give up when you hear a 'no'. You might just be lucky the next time you try.

(10) Marriage isn't a big deal:

People in the UK are not so big on marriage compared to their counterparts in Africa. I have a colleague who has been engaged for years; nothing is happening and nobody is under pressure. In Nigeria, people will ask questions like "Are you Froddo in the 'Lord of the Rings'?"
Generally, people just live together as partners for years and have kids together without being married. An African might frown at this on cultural and religious grounds.

(10a) Accent:

Relationships start with active and good communication. In the UK, some accents are just too complicated to understand. This makes verbal communication stressful. Most people become easily uninterested in those that don't speak like them.

(10b) Indiscriminate sex:

Due to loneliness and cold weather, most people just want to have fun with no strings attached. They want to experience that crazy feeling of intimacy for the moment. Since society doesn't attach importance to 'body counts', people jump on as many beds as possible. This is paramount amongst single parents. Single mothers just want to drink alcohol on Friday nights and have sex without entanglements. They tend to enjoy their sexual freedom and conclude that serious relationships might take that away. If care isn't taken, a woman might wake up to realize that she has had more sexual partners than a full-time prostitute at the end of the year. Sex is easy, love is hard.

These are some of the reasons I have been able to come up with. I'm pretty sure they could be extended.

Conclusion

It is possible to find love in the UK, although it is tricky. The key is being very intentional about the love search. From my personal research and experience, I believe the most effective way is through referrals. When you meet nice people, tell them to introduce you to their like-minded single friends or family members. Make your intentions clear. This is equivalent to getting references for a job application. Additionally, expand your social circles, and join African churches with huge members. Some pastors take it upon themselves to matchmake people and it works. Dating apps might not be the most ideal place to seek a meaningful relationship, but we never say never.

‘John Randle’ was a Doctor from Sierra Leone that worked in Lagos as a Politician around 1920s
Get your facts right Sir.

Again I’d still say that we have exceptional Yorubas that could have been used instead of John Randle.

I’d might seem irrelevant but in a few years, nobody would link a Yoruba center to John Randle.

Some other tribes in this country would never do this, just so you know.

It is faster to get the money out if it is send to another account within Germany. Outside Germany (Naira) takes longer.

I’d also like to say that the account I sent it to later got blocked due to large transactions. I had already gotten out all the money by then.

I hope this helps.

Personally, I will not advise you to go to Teesside. The Uni isn’t that rated plus management isn’t that great. I applied there and even paid fees but had to request for a refund.

1. Reference relating to what? I did not get any ‘academic’ reference while applying to Teesside. I only used the one from my work place.

2. There are plenty jobs available. Truth is you’d need your NI and sometimes the DBS before you get a job. This may or may not take time.

3. I went for an MBA at Ulster University. It’s okay no exam essays and test.

My advice, if you have a career you are looking into. Do a masters in that line. I have heard cases of boys that went to do an advanced computer science MSc all in the name they want to japa without having the prerequisite ; good knowledge of coding.

one major issue we have as a nation is that we don’t have career counselors, this will help a lot so we no go dey waste time doing trial and error with our life.

IndeedFlex should be your first point of call when you land the Uk.
-Do the first interview to verify a role, warehouse maybe.
-After you have been verified, you can verify other roles yourself using the app. Kindly check for a guy called ‘soft landing’ on YouTube on how this is done.

The hack is to be registered with as much agencies as you can. Truth be told, part time jobs aren’t constant hence the reason.

Locals!!! These are the people with the best info, try to mingle a bit with them. Spoke to one for 30minutes and was able to know about agencies I never heard of. All the best
