Someone who cannot manage a boom definitely cannot manage a recession.
The money being used to sustain the country today, on a monthly basis is less than the money which was being stolen by monthly under the nose of our world Bank "expert".
Imagine the logic of the so called expert.
She fought for and removed tariffs on imported goods by claiming that,
Removing tariffs will increase generate benefits greater than the consequences of those tariffs. She also awarded waivers for more importation.
That action single handedly knocked out the vegetable oil industry and led to the influx of foreign food and confectioneries from countries who do all things to prevent Nigerian exports.
Kemi also told the IMF and the world Bank to their faces.

We do not need iphones, champagnes cutlery and private jets ( Modern equivalent of what Africans got for the enslavement of the fellow African), we need power plants, refineries, infrastructure and heavy industries

With that statement, Kemi destroyed all what the IMF and world Bank local puppets stand for.

When Yorubas talk how much lagos made others i start wondering why lagos aint making all these army of jobless yoruba youth living with their parents in lagos squatter without ventilation.

What is lagos waiting for to make millions of yoruba youths that flock pubs by 6AM to drink while every weekend they troop to betting centers to play football pools thinking that billions is on the horizon.

Go tot major markets, parks and shops in Lagos and weep for yoruba youths, i wonder how they stay in those houses at agege, ajegunle, mushin, orile, shomolu etc with its poor states.

Why isnt lagos making those yorubas living in makeshift structures at isale eko, makoko and ilaje?

Why do yorubas think everybody owns lagos a rattass for being successful there, why are all these fuss about lagos self.

If lagos is favorable to people why isnt she favoring her citizens first instead of foreigners?
They are in yorubaland, they can do what they like and they are troops of the future.
Do not be surprised if you meet those area boy on the battlefield.

Fact is if u don't put ur back into it, u can be in Lagos for donkey years and still remain a pauper unless you're spoonfed. Let no one be under the illusion of any seeming magic outside of undue government and commercial patronage due to the status of former capital city.

The proper thing, if greed will allow some goats, is to start focusing on economic/regional integration so that there are recognised and viable commercial/industrial cities in each region to spread and fast track development as quickly as possible. This unitarian lifestyle of focusing development on only one place or state to the detriment of others us the reason Nigeria remains the way she is. Staggering, stuttering and never quite getting up!
What exactly did the federal government focus on lagos that is undue patronage?
Why is the undue patronage not making an impact in and on Kaduna,Abuja, port Harcourt, warri?

1 The amount already wasted on Abuja would have built Astana, Kazakhstan 3 times over. They are still wasting money.

2 A lot of Federal money was spent on Kaduna as well as being the residence of a lot of looters, government appointees and contractors

3 Most of the capital expenditure since oil was discovered was spent on and in rivers, bayelsa and delta . The money is spent on the oil industry. A lot of that money flows into the local economy.
Why is it not making an impact?

I'll tell you why?
Your leaders are primitively and absolutely corrupt.
They cannot govern.
They steal with reckless abandon.
They gut out the soul out of their states.
As a result, those places stand no chance of creating opportunities, wealth and jobs.
Those who elect them or do nothing about the primitive looting are not different from the leaders.
They are cut from the same clothes.
$120 / barrel, Pius Anyim, Iweala, Sambo and Jonathan were stuffing their noses with dollars. No infrastructure, nothing.
$30/ barrel , Fashola is building Lagos-ibadan already. Hopefully, he will go ahead and dualise Ife -Akure -Benin and Ife -ondo and Ondo -Akure.

GworoChewinMaga:
What does Lagos actually contribute to the National economy?

The FG and corporate environment are lamenting over recession induced not from a slump in business activities in Lagos but because of a fall in oil pricing at the intl market?

If Lagos was so economically relevant, why hasn't Lagos found a way to rescue our economy?

The answer to this is simply that Lagos is a mere beneficiary and not in any way a driving force of the nigerian economy.

There are now more functional operating companies in Ogun State and along Ibadan Expressway than there are in Lagos. That thus rules Lagos out as a leading industrial hub.

The only skewed advantage Lagos has over any state is the domicialation of corporate and financial headquarters (a throw back to the time Lagos was the political capital of Nigeria) and also the monopoly Lagos ports enjoy ( due to an intentional anti developmental policy towards the SS/SE by the FG after the civil war).

Even the VAT claimed is not only from yoruba Lagos but from Nigerians from every nook and cranny residing and working in Lagos.

So why should Lagos get more than it has unduly gotten from over the years?
Nigeria is lamenting.
Not yorubaland.
We earn our keeps, the Niger -delta does as well.
What we earn is enough for us.
What we can earn in an independent Oodua states will make us great.
Yorubaland owes nobody.
PoliticsRe: You Eat Lagos’ Salt, Yet Speak Ill Of Lagos - Lasisi Olagunju by oduastates:
First of all, I wrote Nigeria off a long time ago.
Like my cousin said, you are beating a dead horse if you think the country will come good.
The problems the government is struggling to deal with is child's play compared to what is piling up.
The population growth alone is destined to make the country a basket case ,not to talk of desertification.

Those asking for special status are stupidd.
You are asking for special status out of your own money again?
When Awo was building industrial estates all over the place, the rest were conspiring on how to destroy him. That is when they weren't looting.
What they should be asking for is derivation or else.
If they disagree, get mathematicians to model a state domicile tax on corporate gross income on all companies in yorubaland. The companies can take as deductibles on their corporate tax to the federal government.
If the FG resist, the FG can go to court.
In the meantime, Ambode and other yoruba governors should move quick and clear all those illegal settlements along the coast and creeks of yorubaland.
The illegal settler are destroying the wildlife which are necessary for tourism in an independent yorubaland.
Not a day goes when an alligator, python etc is killed.

why are you comparing south Africa to Nigeria.
Take a look at the news media and check out the names of the people who are regularly featured.
From business to politics, the Nigerian scene is full of inferior people without caliber.
Absolutely no culture of excellence.
That is why religion sells. By the way I will never recommend a nuclear power plant for a country who needs foreigners to build her roads and make biscuits, candles and toothpicks

PoliticsRe: My Take On Aisha Buhari Interview With BBC Hausa. Nafeesa AA by oduastates: 12:49pm On Oct 14, 2016
The president's wife has conducted herself in a very dignified manner. This is the first time a first lady has genuinely raised concerns about the goings-on in Aso -rock.
If every other previous first lady had done the same, Nigerian would not have been in this sorry state.
Many Nigerians( all ethnic groups) are doing great things overseas.
From education, water, business, local governance, Judiciary, policing, construction etc.
Why are they not being used to change the culture in Nigeria especially in the ministries and parastatals.
E.g that bring back our girls woman who was parachuted into Nigerian ports Authority.
What big corporate business has she ever run.
Put a proper professional there and not only would that person clean up the ports, there is also the possibility of acquiring ports in other countries and turning it into a global corporation.
I Buhari should have restricted political and ethnic based appointments to foreign affairs and ambassadorship.
In many ways, he is repeating some (not all) of the mistakes made by Jonathan.
PoliticsRe: Open Letter To Bola Tinubu By General Adeyinka Adebayo by oduastates:
A little bit of exaggeration here.
There are far more non oil, yoruba owned but the major problem is class mobility.
I have raised some of the issues in this article directly or
Indirectly in the past.
Like,
1 why are they not trying to reclaim the no one cocoa title in ondo state and then following it up with processing.

2 Why are Lebanese, Syrian etc building our road and buildings despite the number of people calling themselves engineers.

3 why are the governors wasting money on non economic roads, bridges, flyovers

And so on.
adeyinka should also know that Local industries will always stand no chance when a government ( Jonathan and Iweala) not only opened the economy to reckless importation, but started giving waivers for items like toothpick, frying pan.It simply does not make business sense.
On the subject of legacy, he is damn right. Tinubu has no human legacy. Where are the scholarships, overseas industrial training, industrial estates etc.
I once said that his biggest failure is failing to upgrade and replace local governance with bright, young and energetic modernists. Beyond the governorship level, most of the rest are fit for purpose.
