It is true that Lagos is a so-called Yoruba land. One can still argue that it's population might be largely made up of people from other ethnicities. Anyho, the whole idea of the piece is that, the west can learn one or two about tolerance from Lagos. Appreciate the piece for what it is and keep your "Yoruba better ethnic" bigotry self about of it.

All these values were developed over centuries and guided by the knowledge of the universe , The Yoruba religion and the philosophy / body of knowledge of ifa. Those values constitute the wealth of the Oodua nation .
Unfortunately,those values are be are being lost to an ogre of a Nigerian state.
Those value or what is left of it will sustain an independent Yoruba nation.

You can use the same phone to find useful metrics online. You can start from government finances .
But on a societal level , Okada riding Tenants in my area bought their first cars and became homeowners .Numerous civil servants that I know were changing jobs from public to the private sectors because new sectors were opened . Technology, telecommunications, banking , insurance etc .Many people that I know got the opportunity to emigrate to the western world due to the relaxation of rules ( obasanjo's diplomacy).

Can u imagine that Indiana - a state that has just 6 million people - was $300bn; while Nigeria, with a population of 170 million, has a $510bn economy.

I've been busy in the American and European blogosphere for a while and have not had time for the primitivism and primitive issues of the Nigerian society. A lot of people at home are not aware of the international rise of nazism and facists and the ways it will affect them if that rise continues.

Where a state like California ( 5th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $2.4 trillion , 5 times the Nigerian economy) is busy tapping into the potentials of all her citizens irrespective of their colour, age ,sexuality,religion and political ideology,Nigeria is still busy catching and burning witches and wizards.
If they hate gay people that much ,the hypocrites should back it up by throwing away all the computerised electronics that they use on a day to day basis.
From apple to Microsoft, Most of their products are designed made by gay people . The very reason Silicon Valley will never move to Alabama.

Malls can also lead to the rise of local supply chain.
The advantage goes to the producers at a cost to the unproductive middlemen( in Nigeria's case , multiple middlemen) .
You can either choose to allow the shelf to be filled with imported goods or start making some yourself.
Many manufacturing plants cost less than the price of the Tokunbo cars many of you ride about .
Go back to farming or manufacturing. Make good products and the mall will put them on the shelf.

This is failure of governance and government on many levels .

1 Nigerians have so much unproductive time available that they can go to church all the time . That unproductive time is provided for them by a combination of their politicians, civil servants, religious leaders and "business elites ".
If Monday to Friday was anything like more productive countries , I am sure that most people would be at home with their families sleeping off the tiredness from all the exertion of the working week .

2 Pastors, Imams and all these "born against " churches are taking advantage of people's misery and the government is doing nothing about the fraud being perpetrated.

3 A substantial chunk of resources which should be going to states and local governments ( resources required to build schools,hospitals ,roads etc ) is being diverted to meaningless and unproductive religious activities.

4 Lack of governance means that every quack is an engineer . A bricklayer becomes an architect , an architect becomes the surveyors,a surveyor becomes the plumber and the plumber becomes the civil engineer. It is the same with every sphere of Nigerian life. Pharmacists becomes a doctor and a quack becomes a pharmacist.

5 Lack of governance means that state and local governments departments are staffed by dunderheads.
Those who are supposed to regulate , administer and enforce building codes ( if at all they exist ) are not professionally qualified to do so ,are not equipped to do so, are too lazy ,corrupt or simply do not exist .

Nigeria is not a nation . Nigeria is the wreckage of a failed experiment. While other countries are constantly striving for the future , It is death, death, death, misery, misery , misery ,blood, blood ,blood all the way everyday of the week.

THE PICTURE BELOW IS TYPICAL OF WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MILLIONS OF AFRICAN YOUTHS EVERY YEAR . THESE PEOPLE DIED OF ASPHYXIATION WHILE TRYING TO CROSS THE MEDITERRANEAN ON THEIR WAY TO EUROPE( MANY NIGERIANS AMONGST THEM)

No amount of prayer will solve a problem like this .

I have not seen much of a game changing strategy in the conduct of this war. A slight improvement from dumbo but it is still archaic.
Where are the cattack helicopter gunship that Nigeria should be buying in numbers? At least 100 should be bought and be available within 15 minutes to support any unit under attack from these terrorists
As usual,My guess is that tribal considerations is over riding good judgement in the choice of commanders.
