chrisviral:
You just contradicted the whole "tolerance" the writer was inspired by, by singling out and again pointing out your ethnicity. The writer talked about Lagos as a city housing not one kind but all kinds of Nigerians. One would think living in the U.K would make you smarter but oh well.

Please read a book!

It is true that Lagos is a so-called Yoruba land. One can still argue that it's population might be largely made up of people from other ethnicities. Anyho, the whole idea of the piece is that, the west can learn one or two about tolerance from Lagos. Appreciate the piece for what it is and keep your "Yoruba better ethnic" bigotry self about of it.

Come at me if you wish!

Great piece.
Makes me a proud Nigerian. I'll definitely share this piece.
They can learn from the tolerance of the yorubas .
Tell me which of the other top 10 ethnicities are tolerant

Lagos - a country inside another country.
[/s]

Lagos - A Yoruba commune (city state) within the Yoruba country.
She is only doing what other Yoruba city states have done in the past .

Ife
Oyo empire
Ibadan empire

Egbas

Lagos and other Yoruba towns and cities are the exhibition of the unique values and tradition of the Oodua states

1 Tolerance
2 Community
3 Respect for nature and environment
4 Charity
5 Good character.
6 Conservation.

All these values were developed over centuries and guided by the knowledge of the universe , The Yoruba religion and the philosophy / body of knowledge of ifa. Those values constitute the wealth of the Oodua nation .
Unfortunately, those values are be are being lost to an ogre of a Nigerian state.
Those value or what is left of it will sustain an independent Yoruba nation.

The country is KAKISTOCRACY( the worst form of society you can wish on a people)

A kakistocracy is a government of idiots for the benefit of knaves (worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens) at the cost of fools?”

This kind of society eventually ends up with the rule of warlords.
All those criminal militant thugs will eventually be in charge of those societiies

But on a societal level , Okada riding Tenants in my area bought their first cars and became homeowners .Numerous civil servants that I know were changing jobs from public to the private sectors because new sectors were opened . Technology, telecommunications, banking , insurance etc .Many people that I know got the opportunity to emigrate to the western world due to the relaxation of rules ( obasanjo's diplomacy).

You believe whatever crap has been uploaded into your head .
I am a full blood adherent of my forefather's philosophy of life .No where in the philosophy of the Yorubas is someone punished because for their sexuality . Most especially, because your imported religion said so.
The philosophy of life says that knowledge is boundless and not restricted to monotheistic books handed over at the tip of a sword or muskets .
You can take your backwardness to Saudi Arabia, Iran and Gambia.
Who is more interesting, productive and useful to society?
Gay Tim Cook (CEO of Apple ) or you ignorant folks?
Meanwhile , your miserable lives is a source of shame to Nigerians around the world .
Almost on a daily basis , another shame is beamed around the world .
Straight up science .
Instead of fixing problems, they keeps digging solutions for a natural phenomenon that has been in existence since the first living things evolved in the sea .
It is no wonder that the places where you find the most homophobic people are also the places where you will likely find the most gay .they are also the most backward places on the planet. Ode.

Absolutely
There are more pressing issues for our country to deal with.
Can u imagine that Indiana - a state that has just 6 million people - was $300bn; while Nigeria, with a population of 170 million, has a $510bn economy.
I've been busy in the American and European blogosphere for a while and have not had time for the primitivism and primitive issues of the Nigerian society. A lot of people at home are not aware of the international rise of nazism and facists and the ways it will affect them if that rise continues.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Diplomat In South Africa Signs Anti-gay Declaration by oduastates: 8:23pm On Dec 20, 2016
Nigeria is a country of cave dwelling idiotsss. Where a state like California ( 5th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $2.4 trillion , 5 times the Nigerian economy) is busy tapping into the potentials of all her citizens irrespective of their colour, age ,sexuality, religion and political ideology,Nigeria is still busy catching and burning witches and wizards.
If they hate gay people that much ,the hypocrites should back it up by throwing away all the computerised electronics that they use on a day to day basis.
From apple to Microsoft, Most of their products are designed made by gay people . The very reason Silicon Valley will never move to Alabama.
PoliticsRe: Amosun Commissions Ota Palm Store, The Biggest Palms Store In Nigeria (Pics) by oduastates:
wristbangle:
I have mixed feelings for this commissioning because these retail stores will kill growth of local business, so I don't see how it will boost economy rather the revenue/ gains goes to pocket of foreign investors.

Meanwhile another one is presently ongoing at Abeokuta (Olumo mall) as it may outclass this palm mall in terms of its size. Very huge site I must say.
Not.
Malls can also lead to the rise of local supply chain.
The advantage goes to the producers at a cost to the unproductive middlemen( in Nigeria's case , multiple middlemen) .
You can either choose to allow the shelf to be filled with imported goods or start making some yourself.
Many manufacturing plants cost less than the price of the Tokunbo cars many of you ride about .
Go back to farming or manufacturing. Make good products and the mall will put them on the shelf.

Christianity EtcRe: Reigners Bible Church Collapse In Uyo, Akwa Ibom (Graphic Photos) by oduastates:
This is failure of governance and government on many levels .

1 Nigerians have so much unproductive time available that they can go to church all the time . That unproductive time is provided for them by a combination of their politicians, civil servants, religious leaders and "business elites ".
If Monday to Friday was anything like more productive countries , I am sure that most people would be at home with their families sleeping off the tiredness from all the exertion of the working week .

2 Pastors, Imams and all these "born against " churches are taking advantage of people's misery and the government is doing nothing about the fraud being perpetrated.

3 A substantial chunk of resources which should be going to states and local governments ( resources required to build schools, hospitals ,roads etc ) is being diverted to meaningless and unproductive religious activities.

4 Lack of governance means that every quack is an engineer . A bricklayer becomes an architect , an architect becomes the surveyors,a surveyor becomes the plumber and the plumber becomes the civil engineer. It is the same with every sphere of Nigerian life. Pharmacists becomes a doctor and a quack becomes a pharmacist.

5 Lack of governance means that state and local governments departments are staffed by dunderheads.
Those who are supposed to regulate , administer and enforce building codes ( if at all they exist ) are not professionally qualified to do so ,are not equipped to do so, are too lazy ,corrupt or simply do not exist .

Nigeria is not a nation . Nigeria is the wreckage of a failed experiment. While other countries are constantly striving for the future , It is death, death, death, misery, misery , misery ,blood, blood ,blood all the way everyday of the week.

THE PICTURE BELOW IS TYPICAL OF WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MILLIONS OF AFRICAN YOUTHS EVERY YEAR . THESE PEOPLE DIED OF ASPHYXIATION WHILE TRYING TO CROSS THE MEDITERRANEAN ON THEIR WAY TO EUROPE( MANY NIGERIANS AMONGST THEM)

No amount of prayer will solve a problem like this .
