Even though he engaged in corrupt practices under Jonathan , the reasons all the clowns are giving for his sack is not tenable . Someone as tainted as him can be used to forge a new direction for the country and that is exactly how Buhari is using him . Our factories must come back to life. Private jets and oil block billionaires without a single place of business must drop down several rungs of the class ladder . Banks must fund local investment rather than commerce anchored on importation. China , America and the rest are not friends in the market place but adversaries . Emefiele must stay for as long as he is useful. That is not to say that the government must not intervene in the market place . Like i said before , states must be given the power to generate and supply electricity to industrial estates . The government should look at buying up excess food rotting away in the farms and flooding the market to drive down the price inflation , caused by clueless illiterate. ( tomatoes seller claiming that dollar value has gone up ) |
If you refer to PDP as opposition, you should start calling them criminals. There is a need for a different kind of opposition . One based on knowledge, right thinking , truth and competence. |
Go through that Yoruba commonwealth thread, there are many of them there. Most of them are reluctant to come back and work with zombies. |
My guy you dry fall my hand o.Apple IBM where dem no fit do tomatoes, pepper and petrol? ( just joking ,I understand the context). Most Nigerian want instant gratification. That is why their politicians reduce them to rice , noodles, sewing machine and Okada during elections. They are also good at sowing the seed but reluctant to pay taxes, fees and levies. There is a need for a need kind of elite. Elite prep , elite grooming , elite thinking and elite patriotism. Give them a choice between the future and stomach and they will choose stomach all the time |
After how many days . The media team must have been on holidays |
This guy's charge should not only be corruption , They should throw the entire book at him 1 murder 2 attempted mirder 3Accessory to murder 4 Assualt and battery for the beatings 5 Bribery and corruption 6 misuse of office 7 conspiracy with intent to defraud. |
SMH. I saw this on Twitter in the morning . This is how to destroy people's destiny . Someone want to help but he has to pay to render help. Anyway , the heat is on . |
These are the people I want to listen to when talking about government economic policy. My suggestion. Give states the power to build power stations and supply industrial estates directly . You can achieve this by building industrial parks and clusters to ensure that only a few points of distribution |
rozayx5:I have little hope for smallholdings in the agricultural sector. When they talk about farmers under the Nigerian agricultural policy , they mean the likes of dantata and obasanjo farm . You can check how much those big elite get from the government annually Audu Ogbe is a fossil. Maybe he can pull a rabbit out of a hot but I doubt . |
Orikinla:Read again . Learn to crawl before attempting to fly . Ewallet ko epassport ni. Your ewallet is only as good as the phone you used to type it. You can achieve the same with a $70 Microsoft Access database rather than a multi billion naira platform . Meanwhile,Nothing is filtering to the farmers on the ground and the hardest part of farm work remain the same. Will your ewallet get the youths back to the farms to replace the aging farmers? How many extension workers are included in your ewallet? Go and speak with the farmers on the ground or start a farm . It does not take rocket science , Preparing the land is the hardest and longest part of farm work . This is what kills the farmers. Farmers are ready to buy seedlings and pay premium price for fertilisers from their income . The biggest cost to the farmers is the effort/ labour required. The biggest impediment to getting people back to the farm is the extreme hard work required. Why go chasing after lapalapa when na leprosy dey worry you . |
Packaging material for pure water ? Eleme petrochemical is supposed to take care of that . Polymers and all ;with potentials for hundreds of associated factories feeding of it ,manufacturing all sorts of semi finished and finished goods and supporting hundreds of thousands of job. I guess the " witches " are preventing that from working as well. Nigeria has a civil service , business elites and political elite problem . |
I have dialled down my respect for him. I always thought he was a developmental economist . Until I realised he is a theorist with a globalist Neo liberal bent . I am still looking for an economist with the nationalist , Afrocentric ,patriotic bent of Awo , Thomas samara ,Gadaffi , Nkurumah etc . Nigeria's foreign reserve is consumed by 1 politicians stealing money or spending on luxury 2 Business elites lodging money in offshore banks 3 foreign companies and individuals repatriating their profits( airlines , telecoms etc) 4 local companies importing raw materials that can be sourced locally 5 Traders importing stuff that can be manufactured locally 6 luxuries by the middle class and upper classes What does pat utomi have to say about a sound business proposal from say, an intelligent nairalander ,who wants to start a tooth pick manufacturing business and the person offers the bank a stake in the business. Would devaluation make the Nigerian banks give that person a loan? Nope , they would rather give a loan for importation . All the devaluation talks does not deal with the real problem . The structural problem with the economy or non economy. That economy works for a few ( for whom utomi is carrying a bag ) but has never worked for 99% of Nigerians . Even if oil prices goes to $500, the wealth of the elites and the people lucky to have a job , will increase while the masses will continue to suffer . If government policy is built on creating billionaires and not a middle class , nothing will come good . |
Ikoyi solutions to an Ajegunle problem American solutions to a Nigerian problem. This guy is seriously overrated. Telephone for farmers. Phones farmers never saw. Rice scam for politicians ,who got rice import licenses for farms , that produce invisible rice. How about a tractor per village cooperative for our aging farmers , who are still bending down with cutlasses and hoes? |
rosalieene:I think you belong in a village. My guess : 1 you have an incinerator somewhere to get rid of the waste. 2 you have people employed in your house hold to get rid of diseases caused by improper waste disposals 3 You have doctors on call to take care of Lassa fever and cholera Right there is that sense of entitlement, lack of knowledge of their civic responsibilities Refusal to pay taxes. Guess what whether Nigersins like it or not , whether they pay or not , those taxes will be collected one way or the other . A substantial chunk has already been collected ( look below) Nigerian life expectancy: 52 years . Let me put it in easy language . A Nigerian can expect to live no more than 52 years . Anything extra is a bonus . Look around , guess the age of the people around you , subtract that age from 52 . Thospwople are likely to live no longer than the result . If the person is 30 years old , he most likely has 22yrs left . He is middle aged already and has lived the best part of his life . |
NextGovernor:Are you sure that land alone ,does not cost that much? Abi you thinks say land na beans for Ibadan? Land goes as high as N250 million in some parts of Ibadan . What is/was his income before and after he became? |
LOOTED FUNDS RESERVES. I like that guy who coined that phrase. |
keally:My mistake cross river , the point is still valid though. Then Upgrade and fund adequately. |
Tourism ? Learn to crawl first . That guy has already given you the list why it is impossible. The only way Nigeria will ever be able to build a tourist industry is to build secure islands of sanity ( like Eko Atlantic) where Nigerians are banned . E.g Sharm el Shiek is off limits to most Egyptians apart from essential workers. The NW is a tourism goldmine but that their sharia thing means it ain't gonna happen . The NE is naturally paradise on earth ;Boko haram. Niger delta is beautiful and is one the most inhabited swamps on earth ; Militants |
Maritime university is a waste . They have not adequately funded the one in Cross river properly yet, they started building another one . |
THE PROBLEM WITH NIGERIA IS NOT THE FOREIGN RESERVES . THE PROBLEM WITH NIGERIA IS HER PRIORITIES OR LACK OF. Indonesia under Suharto was equally very corrupt but what did their corrupt official spend the stolen money on ? What did they spend the money they did not steal on? Did they carry their beggar's bowl around the world asking for help or foreign investors? Scarce resources( whether private or public) are spent on luxuries or the wrong stuffs . When I called out the consistent waste of money on Abuja ( a place that does not and has never produced any wealth ) and comparing it to the modesty of Canberra Australia ,I was criticised. some people will never understand the concept . The concept is so simple . Will you keep investing money in a business that does not return a profit . Canberra was built to complement Brisbane , Sydney Adelaide. Apart from a few government buildings , no further development was forced or had tax payers money wasted on it . It grew organically . In Nigeria's case , a significant chunk of capital spending ( I won't be surprised if it approaches 40%) has been wasted since the 70's , forcing development on the place . Yet , Abuja Is still not producing any wealth. From the leaders to the little man on the street . I see someone about to be a guest of EFFC. Unemployable people always have a way of getting right to the top in Nigeria . A couple of weeks ago , I made mention of the fact that Nigeria suffers from a dearth of competent managers. Those with good management skills never get to the top If you look closely at the likes of Dangote and Globacom man , the critical department in their businesses are manned by expatriates. They employ Nigerians in positions where they cannot cause damage. I have read many articles from Nigerian economists. Most of them have been arguing about the theories. None of them have been able to answer my question . How much does the social implication of official devaluation cost ? 1 How would the increase imported fuel prices from official devaluation affect the entire economy . 2 Most Nigerians have never seen a dollar bill in their lives .Their entire existence is based on locally made items . Food is about the most important thing on their worry list . Of what benefit is devaluation to these people . 3 Civil servants and minimum wage earners will see their income halved . based on the locally manufactured items they buy on a daily basis . I have no time to type more but , Nigeria seems to have a 2 track economy . One that works for the wealthy and politicians and the foreign powers that control them , and the other economy which does not work at all , come rain, come shine , for the masses . Nigerian elites have had it so good that they want the gravy train to continue even if it keeps impoverishing the people . I insist that Buhari must not listen to them , You can tell a banana republic by simply looking at the country's list of imports ,and comparing that list to the country's list of natural resources . Almost all the Asian tigers have little or no natural resource , import raw material and machine ,machine tools and export finished goods . Nigeria on the other hand ........ As we speak , they are not asking for a change of behaviours , they are asking for devaluation ( as if that will improve the underlying problem . All the brain-dead governors always running about for foreign investment and who keep handing construction contracts to foreigner (as if those people will not remove the money from the economy later) , Can anyone tell me how long it takes to train and equip the youth to handle such things . It is only in Nigeria that the youths are not good enough , Nigerian engineer abroad all seem to be getting the job done . |
excel101:Because Kemi indicted iweala right there . How can you be a finance minister and not care about revenue being looted in government agencies. |
LRNZH:People need to go and read about the Greek crisis. about how investment banks colluded with corrupt government officials to leverage the country to death. Many aspects of the Greek financial crisis are similar to Nigeria's |
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his computer (MADE IN MALAYSIA), Mr David Ahmed Okoro decided to relax for a while. He put on his slippers (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN SOUTH AFRICA), while fiddling with his mobile phone (MADE IN SOUTH KOREA), and then wondered why he cant find a good paying job in NIGERIA. The writer of this did a great job clowning dummies. How come he cannot find a Nigerian job. ![]() |
Much ado about nothing . Compare the SW to some region in South Africa ,Malaysia or Indonesia and not societies evolving at the speed of tortoise |
Why have they not treated this man issues yet? $199 for these Blue band magarine ,Coca-cola, dangote Cement , Dudu, soap , innoson, aba shoes , tractors etc The rest can enjoy devaluation with fayose. |
LRNZH:In other words , they do not like the fact that Buhari is not allowing our money to fly out of our coffers A hit job . It might interest you that they said almost exactly the same thing in 1984. However 1984 happened to be the only year in the 80s that Nigeria was able to pay for all her imports without borrowing from foreign banks |
jamesibor:Yes you can blame Obama for bush's mess . We lost close 200000 construction jobs in 2014 , Over 150,000 banking jobs in 2011 at the height of a boom . I repeat , we are ticking along just fine . The country is caught up in the tail-wind of Jonathan/ Iweala mismanagement and corruption . Once we exit the tail wind, you will see what real growth means |
Oil , Oil , Oil. Nigeria has a serious problem . |
dukie25:Well oil is down and Nigeria is still ticking along just fine States are getting their money even if it is not up to boom era money . MInd you, by the time oil was selling at $80 a barrel , madam Ngozi had already completely lost control of the economy . The government was bleeding and dying of a thousand cut. |
baby124:whose idea was it to hand dollar debit card to Nigerians? The country does not want to learn how to crawl at all |
dukie25:Obasanjo is a Neo liberal capitalist . Proper proper far right in term of economics . Iweala is the same His entire existence is based on keeping Nigeria one and the structure of the country the same by playing silly silly selection games to assuage tribal feelings . His economics is top-down with him and his friends at the top of the pyramid . After Shagari , Yar Adua and Jonathan , take obasanjo's judgement seriously , at your own risk. |
sexy74:Watch the full videos . The rest is pettiness , corruption fighting back and tribal politics . This edited crap came from the same idiotts led by Omokri on whatapps whose entire job on Twitter is to trend falsehood , misinformation and cause ethnic disunity. When Obama goofed about America having 51 states ................ Have you considered money not from budgets or revenues . Like grants and awards from international organisations. M If the signal you are picking up is the maths and not her philosophy, then you deserve Nigeria as it is . For me , this is in line with my ideology , my values and my idea of how governments should be run . No civil servant should take more than his monthly pay check . |
