^^^ Do not underestimate me. I am an expert on military issues and war but not neccessarily the inner workings of the Nigerian military. Second of all, Chad was funding a group of the rebels that were fighting in Sudan, and the two nations were at war for some time. WHta I meant was "as the fighting from Sudan spilled into Chad.". I am not looking to join the military I only asked a question. Secondly, there have been plenty of real wars in this decade: look at Georgia, Iraq, Afhanistan (the two previous arent conventional wars though). I am in every position to judge my nations militarysince we are in a democracy. The UN does not fight in wars, their troops are only there for peacekeeping and they never send any substantial number of troops into a warezone. The UN does not conduct any operations, their main goal is peacekeeping. In the second quote, I was saying that IG of police sound slike a good occupation. In no way did i connect it to the Army. Infact im tired of cross examinations, please if you have no answers to my question or nothing useful, I'd prefer you reserve your comments. |
A bronze casted mask was found at an Nri town dated from around the 900s. Google it if you please. |
They will kill you with Watch Tower magazine subscriptions. ![]() |
^^^ In those areas Nigeria operates under the UN or the West African Union, what I mean is real Nigerian military presence. There was a civil war in Chad for some time as the fighting from Sudan spilled into Sudan. I guess IG of police sounds good too |
pleep:Lol see what I mean. People tend to think that nothing sensible or worthwhile can come out of you just because you are a teenager. So far, Ive proven them wrong. ![]() Mobinga:Man Ive been unemployed this entire summer ![]() |

Ho wabout pre 1970? The good ol' days. Infact Nigeria was at its best when it was still under colonial rule. |

@ All Thanks you everyone for your interesting and inciteful replies. From, your replies i take it that you must enter some type of officers candidacy school at some point or take a series of exams, and then emerge as an officer. This way seems more attractive than the original method I was told (Enter as a bodyguard and etc), but I see the time as a drawback. I will continue to think about this, and I will appreciate additional replies and etc. PS I would prefer the army rather than the airforce since Nigeria's areoplanes are obsolete. And I would have second thoughts about the navy since there are so many unique ways to die and Nigeria's navy is also a joke. If it were within my power, I'd suggest that Nigeria send its generals and officers to foreign wars inorder to gain some serious experience (ie Cote D' Ivoire, Somalia, Sudan, Chad, etc. |
Does anyone remember the name of Awilo Longomba's hit song in the 90s? I used to love the song and I remember its popularity back in the day. Im trying to find an mp3 version of it and I it would be great if someone could provide me with its name. Here is a bit of the lyrics which I faintly remember: "(something i french) ooo ooh ooo ooh" |

@ Negro No I did not say that. Nri Kingdom was thriving in the 700s AD. The Igalas and Igbos are the descendants of the Nri Kingdom. The Nri Capital city is Igbo-Ukwu and it is still there. |
The Nri Kingdom had its origins in Nigeria. It is the oldest kingdom in Nigeria and predates the Yoruba and Bini kingdoms. |
^^^ Didn't Yakubu Gowon say that he would not award any medals to Nigerian troops that fought in the civil war? |

Believe it or not over 100 milllion Nigeirans still drink pure water. Other than that, their only affordable source of water is a local stream. mama-gee: |
The top circle seems very difficult to get into, but I am told that once you get into it, its enjoyment from there on (Even though that is not my purpose). I heard of a Brigadier General who joined the military and just ammassed wealth. He aquired lands and properties all over the south and even though he retired, he still had soldiers that guarded his home and etc. Its amazing how much the so called "military men" of Nigeria are relaxing and just ammassing wealth and titles without even doing their job. If you take a look at Babangida, Buhari or Abacha's uniforms you will see a countless number of medals, pins and etc that were all aquired without any real combat. Its a shame that the Nigerian army lacks so much experience. |
What makes you think that? Negro_Ntns: |
@ All Man, being a bodyguard seems like a waste of my time (Do not think of me as obnoxious, but I believe the talent of Nigeria's graduates should not be wasted on such things). In one year as an entrepreneur, I owuld have made more money than a bodyguard or infantryman for that matter. The problem is time, and I dont want to waste any of it. The thing is, it would take far more time in times of peacetime to rise in rank than in times of war. I guess the only options are: a) bribe b) finding a Godfather to sponser me c) being a bodyguard/ boy-boy for some years before being promoted to chaffeur |
I am here ![]() |
alj_harem:Thats the thing, I do not want to be a bodyguard or an infantryman for that matter. My intention is to rise to a position of command. Is there no way a graduate can quickly obtain a commanding position without attending a military academy? In other countries, graduates are automatically made officers when they enlist. |
@ Alj I am a very good tactician and I might be willing to persue a career in the Nigerian Army, but I do not know any majors, colonells, generals, or commanders. Is there hope? |
^^^ What if you dont know anyone and you are a Southerner? |
I've been wondering, what is the fastest way to rise in rank in the Nigerian Armed Forces? And which Branch of the Military is the most enjoyable, (Army, Airforce, Navy)? I will appreciate your replies and comments. Thanks. |
