I always knew Mexicans were short but I never knew they could fit into bags. |
Arochukwu only ![]() Although Ive visited: Lagos, PH, Umuahia, Abuja. |
Well said Ezeagu. You know, 51 years ago, Igboland would have been considerably larger than it is now. But due to the failure of the war, a few prevously Igbotic or Igboid groups claimed to disassociate themselves from the Igbos by any means possible hence the map we have now. I think that even 100 years ago, the Ekpeye saw themselves as Igbos. They most likely might have been an Igbo clan that was overrun by Ijaw and other "Riverine" neighbours and were heavily influenced by foreign languages and soon became estranged from the other Igbo clans. I think that their recent ancestors those from around mid 1800s- early 1900s, might be rolling in their graves due to what their people are doing now, dissassociating themselves from their origins and effectively destroying their lives. I'm sure many Northerners have not heard of the Ekpeye and will disregard them while taking their oil and land because they are in effect a "minority". And Minority status is a status that no one wants to bear, particularly in Nigeria because people will often Ignore you for that. Look at the Ijaws, they are 10 million strong and the 4th largest ethnicity in Nigeria but because of the fact that they are labeled as a "minority" they are ignored and neglected, hence their status. |
@ Eko Ile It looks like you are only sour because Lagos is among the dirtiest cities in Nigeria. ![]() To answer your question, a citys cleanliness is judged by the amount of air, land and water pollution it has. If it's streets are littered with refuse, it's water system is contaminated and or it's air quality is lower than those around it than it is effectively a "dirty" city. But dirty is a relative term, many Africabs might think of Johannesburg as a clean city while in European standards it's a slum. But generally, the odds are against cities with larger populations since more people = more cars, which equals more air pollution which equals dirtier water. |
To those with little information about the North, it's cities are just as bad or even worse than those in the South. In Kano, you will find goats, cows, and horses openly in the streets. They will defecate randomly all around and no one to clean up. But the cleanest city in Nigeria must be either: Enugu, Owerre or Calabar. |
Thank you Nayah. ![]() |

Yes there are ![]() We have a school that was built in the early 20th century honoring Madam Mary Slazor who abolished the act of twin killing in my hometown, Arochukwu. We also have a shrine called Ibini Ukpabi which was a large and famous oracle in the olden days and was on the slave route that sold many people to the Europeans. |

I am from Abia state but my town shares a common boundary with some Ibibio settlements at the edge of Ibibioland. We speak a little Ibibio, does that count? |
You are very correct. Awolowo said "If the East goes, the West goes" and when the East did go, where was he? Ogbonaikenna: |
@ LagosSha you are wrong about Christianity. Christians (Catholics) do not believe that a baby is condemned. Original sin is the first sin committed by Adam and therefore the ability to sin, and the mark of this sin is transferred from generation to generation. The only way to wash away this original sin, which all of us even you were born with is Baptism. Through baptism, the healing waters of God wash away our original sin and welcome us into the community of God's followers. I am sure that you don't understand this but there's no reason for you to be speaking loosely about things you don't understand. |
What is the point of threads like these making front page all the time? Honestly I am tired of seeing threads about bombings in Maiduguri and I'm sure I'm not the only one. MODERATOR why now? A thread like this is on front page atleast 5 times a week. Same story. Same Bombers. Same sympathizers. There are tons of better threads that need to be exposed. We crave new content please! ![]() |

@ Chinenye I can speak it very well. Personally i have observed that the problem most people find in speaking Igbo is the placement of English conjunctions and Igbo conjunctions. But like i said there is a word for everything necessary. "or: mo but: kama and: yana before: tam" By non-modern i mean words such as: computer, television, car, calculator (which some call ogu-ego), phone, internet, etc and other modern words. These words are unfamiliar to Igboland and much of Africa as a whole. An average, Igbo speaker would say: "Kedu, how far? Achorom iga to that house before junction ukwu onhu. Iwere ike itak'm? But the proper way is: "Kedu, nda? Achorom iga na ulo onhu no n'ihu okporo izonhu. Iwere ike idugam? |
No only Rivers state but also Delta State. Rivers State is 70 % Igbo and the smae percentage of its people speaks Igbo. With Rivers State in the mix, we are one step closer to recieving full Igbo unity. My brothers, see behind this and look at the real fact, the Igbo people of Rivers State and Delta State, Namely Ikwerre and others must be united with the SE and only then can we advance as an Igbo nation. Please if you want a source for my facts, go to this link: http://www.igbofocus.com/html/rivers_state.html Even when I went to Port-Harcourt, some of the signs were written in Igbo and Igbo was spoken throughout the streets |
@ Nayah I have a question, how did Camerounians cope when the nation was handed over from Germany to France? Did everyone have to learn French and forget German? @ Alj Harem I'm curious, no harm intended, is your mother the one of Igbo extraction or your father? |
@ Ezeagu I try my best to speak unadultered, Englishfree Igbo. If people try abd think they'll find out there is a word for everything practical and precolonial in Igbo. If you'd like to prove me wrong I want ANYONE TO POST A LIST OF NON-MODERN AND NON ENGLISH THINGS that they think aren't expressed in Igbo and I'll be happy to answer. ![]() |

I'm still waiting for th gov to fix the Nkana bridge. For 43 years it has only been wooden planks nailed on damaged iron poles tied with rope but still hundreds of motorists risk their lives on it. |
