When the world is transitioning from Fossil fuel to renewable green energy, the zoo is still wasting the lean resources prospecting for oil in a hostile region with material and human costs. In the same trend they are also prospecting for a sick President in Western Hospitals.

The APC govt has wasted all of Nigeria's resources and the Nigerian People need to wake up from their sleep. Their kids will have no country.
their lives so depend on oil exploration and exporting. "Vision-less leaders"

Politics / Borno Oil Prospectors Ambush Death Toll Said To Be Over 30, Many Unaccounted by odutolasodiq(m): 9:13am On Jul 27, 2017
The death toll in wednesday's ambush by Boko Haram in Borno State may have risen to 33, reports from the area say. The attack came in the implementation of a 40-day “clearance” operation declared by the Chief of Army Staff, Yusuf Buratai, in which he said he wanted Boko Haram leader dead or alive.

Fresh reports show that no fewer than 12 soldiers were killed while at least four out of 12 staff of the University of Maiduguri equally lost their lives.  Two of the soldiers were officers, one of them identified as Lt. M. Medawa, who was due to be decorated on Thursday as Captain, a rank to which he was recently promoted.

In the ambush, some officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and members of staff of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) undertaking a research project concerning oil exploration in the area were abducted.

On Wednesday evening, military sources and local vigilantes said that some of those people have contacted their relations.Providing an update at about the same time, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, said in the statement that as soon as information about the ambush reached the Brigade mobilized and sent reinforcement, search and rescue party that included the Armed Forces Special Forces and guides that worked and pursued the terrorists throughout the night.
“So far, they have rescued all the NNPC staff and recovered the corpses of the Officer, eight soldiers and a civilian have who have been evacuated to 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital,” he said.  SaharaReporters has not independently confirmed how many of those who were abducted have regained their freedom.

Another military source, who requested anonymity, confirmed the arrival of the eight bodies in Maiduguri on Wednesday, with four more arriving at Maimalanri Cantonment on Thursday at about 6pm. [But it is not yet 6p.m Thursday!!]

In addition, top leader of the “civilian JTF” who participated in the evacuation disclosed that 11 members of their own group, including the chairman of the Magumeri Civilian –JTF branch, were also killed.

"We just came back from Magumeri this evening, 11 of our members are dead and some are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals," the top leader of the civilian group said.

Concerning those who have been reported to be safe, he said, “Some have called that they are in Damaturu, we strongly believe that the remaining ones will soon return. Let me tell you, this can't stop us; no hiding place for Boko Haram, we shall flush them out."

Local vigilantes also said that six of their members who were with the team of oil explorers and troops from Magumeri were also snatched in the ambush.

"Six of our members fell into the hands of their enemy, they are all from Magumeri branch of [the] local vigilante," a vigilante source told SaharaReporters.

In another development, a source at the University of Maiduguri said the younger brother of the Vice-Chancellor of the institution was among victims.

"I just received a phone call that [on Friday], there will be a funeral of the younger brother of our Vice Chancellor at UNIMAID central mosque, " that source said.

At the University of Maiduguri Teaching, a member of staff who works in the mortuary has also confirmed that four corpses were brought into the facility early on Thursday (Nigerian Time), identified to have been on the staff of UNIMAID.

He added, however, that two others on the UNIMAID staff had contacted their VC, saying they are receiving treatment at the military facility.

Earlier on Wednesday, SaharaReporters reported that many had been killed or were missing after suspected Boko Haram terrorists ambushed a convoy of troops, oil prospectors, University Geologists and others on Wednesday at Borno Yesu in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno state.

In his update, Brigadier-General Usman said the ambush took place on Tuesday at about 3p.m., and that it involved the escorts as well as a team of NNPC staff returning from oil exploration at Borno Yasu, Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

Of the military response, he said, “The [search and rescue] team recovered 4 vehicles one of which includes a gun truck mounted with an Anti-Aircraft Gun, 2 white Hilux taken away from NNPC staff and 1 blue Hilux belonging to CJTF. They team also recovered large quantities of arms and ammunition, several spare tyres, many jerry cans of containing Petroleum, Oil and Lubricant, assorted drugs, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials, reflective jackets and a Motorola handheld radio, among others. The team also neutralized many of the terrorists.”

Although he stressed that the troops are not relenting in their efforts, it is unclear how Tuesday’s ugly incident will impact the oil exploration efforts in the Lake Chad Basin.

Politics / I Will Return When Doctors Say I Should Do – Buhari Speaks From UK by odutolasodiq(m): 7:55pm On Jul 25, 2017
Ailing President Muhammadu Buhari has again sent his words from London that he is making progress with his health.

Over the alarming situation surrounding Buhari’s overdue stay in London for medical treatment, the Guinea President and Chairman of  the Assemblies of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, Alpha Conde organized a prayer session for the citizenry of the Guinea towards the quick recovery of the Nigeria’s President.
In reaction to this, President Buhari has written a ‘thank you’ letter to the Guinean President to appreciate his kind concern and assured him of his recovery.

He has also expressed his readiness to resume work once his doctors give him the go ahead.

Buhari’s letter to Conde dated July 24, 2017, read, “I thank you for your kind and thoughtful action in organising nationwide prayers for my good health. ” It is a gesture that I will forever cherish and treasure.

“Your Excellency will be pleased to hear that I am making good progress, and as soon as doctors advise, I shall return to my duties and continue serving the Nigerian people who elected me and are daily praying for my recovery”, President Buhari partly said.

Politics / Lagos Environmental Corps Unfolds Agenda by odutolasodiq(m): 10:12am On Jul 14, 2017
The newly formed Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, (LAGESC), formerly known as the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) has disclosed that its top priority as it begins operations would be to ensure that environmental infractions become a thing of the past in the state.

The Executive Secretary of LAGESC, Mrs Idowu Mohammed disclosed this at a press conference to intimate the people about the activities of the new corps, adding that LAGESC would make sure the environment is kept clean at all times in line with the mandate of Cleaner Lagos Initiative.

Mrs Mohammed said henceforth LAGESC would prevent market women and traders generally from displaying their wares on the roads, adding that they would also police the highways to ensure that people did not dump refuse indiscriminately on the roads.

“The sanitation corps will now clear the pathways and bridges and dislodge people selling on the road. They will make sure that the roads are clean and that there is no infraction. They will make sure that the Public Utility Levy is paid by residents of Lagos State.” She added.

The LAGESC top executive said motorized trucks would now sweep the highways and that over 27,000 of the 30,000 sweepers that would be recruited would be made to sweep streets in their communities and be paid salaries above the N18,000 minimum wage.

Politics / Excitement Greets Visionscape’s Roadmap For Lagos by odutolasodiq(m): 11:46am On Jul 13, 2017
For believing in Nigeria, the government and other stakeholders in Lagos have commended Visionscape for launching the first phase of the Cleaner Lagos Initiative to revolutionise solid waste management, Raheem Akingbolu reports

In what looks like a complementary move towards consolidating the various works being done by the current administration in Lagos State to beautify the city, Visionscape, an innovative environmental utility group, at the center of the Cleaner LagosInitiative (CLI), recently rolled out the drum to celebrate the beginning of its operations in Lagos.

At a well attended event, the management of the company announced that Visionscape Sanitation Solutions has successfully completed the development of their first waste management depot in Lagos State. The depot, which is located in Ogudu, is the first of three 24-hour depots that the company will open in Lagos State.

Two well dressed men who took to the middle of the road to exchange blows despite the heavy downpour. Have you ever been offended by a driver while trying to navigate on the road especially in Lagos? What did you do? If you ignored the offender, then you probably have a reason to pat yourself on the back, unlike this man who decided to go the other way. The man in a grey striped shirt was said to have started the fight between him and another driver, with both of them ignoring the heavy downpour while exchanging blows. The two men fought each other even though they had places to go and were causing traffic to other road users The fight was said to have caused a go-slow as other road users had to wait for them to stop fighting and move their cars off the road. An eyewitness identified as Victor Ibeh, wrote: "The owner of this vehicle is a traffic risk in Lagos. I was in a bus some minutes ago moving through Cele flyover. This man came and hit us from the back. It wasn't a mistake. It was a deliberate act. Some people sitting at the back of the vehicle were even injured. Our driver was in his own lane. It was intense that even me sitting in front thought we would skid over the bridge. The idiot drove next to our driver and began to issue threats. Our driver responded, and he drove off when he noticed I was trying to capture his image. Because it was raining I couldn't do much. So we asked our driver to follow him so we can at least get his vehicle plate number. He ran and was halted by a mild traffic. We got up to him and our driver alighted. The argument that ensued resulted in a fight. People separated them while I got these details. I don't understand how someone would intentionally want to kill us this early morning. Who did we offend? The person on the right side, whose inner wear is showing is the idiot. The fight caused traffic to other road users who had to wait for the two men to move their cars Read more
