Good morning House. I will be moving to Lethbridge AB in January as a student to study CIT. I have been unable to secure an apartment close to Lethbridge college even after signing up on Kijiji. Can someone be of assistance please. Also, I have the following questions for the house. 1. I have a mobile phone that I intend traveling with what is the best Network plan to use? 2. Which bank to I open an account with that can serve me long term? 3. I intend getting a new laptop once I get there, how do I go about this as well? Thank you for your assistance. |
Hello House, I need assistance with getting a room in Lethbridge Canada. I'll be resuming my programme in some weeks at Lethbridge college. Though I registered on Kijiji, it hasn't been fruitful. Also any tips in getting an affordable mobile data and laptop cause I hear they market high end products, get you to buy it only to end up regretting. Thanks |
I placed an order for Mi A2 plus fitband 3 through @Noobody about 3 weeks ago. I received my order today as promised within the 3-4weeks duration . the phone and fitband are in good working condition. The wait and money is indeed worth it. I'll share pictures tomorrow. Thanks @Noobody |
Good morning house. I submitted my Passport at vfs office about a week ago for visa stamp. As of on Tuesday I got a mail from CIC stating that my application for study in Canada has been approved (IMM5813). My question is does this mean I can go to vfs to pickup my passport or I should be getting a separate notification mail from vfs to come pick up? |
042viber12:I did. I got a response that I should be patient and it’s still being processed..etc |
Good evening, Sorry about the late response. I reapplied for my visa -16th June Got my medical call up -25th October. I booked my medical with Qlife. I was lucky to get a Family member to give me his spot because he doesn’t need medicals done urgently. I heard all the centers are booked till late December. My two cents is go there in person or try Abuja As regards tackling travel history, I made it clearer that I have family members here that I live with and that I’ve never had a reason to leave the country to study until now. My resumption date is for January at Lethbridge.. I use to think it’s best to book a round trip because of border inspection and what not. I’ll appreciate it if this is clarified. Thank you |
Good day all. First I want to thank everyone that has been contributing to this forum. You all are well appreciated. I just got my medical call up, after applying a second time for a student visa. I believe we will all get to the finish line with reasons to celebrate. In my previous application, I ensured I ticked all the boxes required. I had one yr tuition paid, had the required amount in my dom acc, provided my sponsors supporting docs, bank statement etc. Wrote a good enough SOP and also provided land doc gifted to me as “home tie” but unfortunately I was denied based on home ties, travel history and purpose of visit. I didn’t request for my GCMS note, because I didn’t have the time. In my follow up application the docs I changed were both my bank statement and that of my sponsor to reflect current balance and a new SOP. In my SOP I highlighted the reasons why I was denied in my previous application and I addressed each accordingly. I think it’s very important to point out valid reasons why you are going for your program and what you intend to do afterwards. Also point out why it took this long to take a decision to study overseas, how you’ve been of assistance to your family here no matter how little and how you look forward to coming back home to do more for both your family and society. I should also mention that I wrote to CIC during my wait period for update. You won’t blame me, it was over 3months that I had applied. Lastly, I trusted God to have his way no matter the outcome. I have booked my Medicals. Next will be looking up tickets ( the prices are scary, MUST I BOOK ROUND TRIP ? ) Best regards |
Hello, He has a Bsc 2:2 degree in Economics. Working as a safety officer in a construction firm with over two years work experience. He is considering taking an apprenticeship program in Social work or welding and fabrication. What do you suggest for someone in his situation? Thanks |
I am asking on behalf of a friend, his conundrum is that, he wants to relocate to the UK for greener pastures and better education like most Nigerians and UK seems to be his best option because he has family there to accommodate him. That is why I am asking the house for an affordable college that accepts international students. He doesn’t have the funds to use an agent either. Also I am hearing one doesn’t get a work permit for college programs in UK. Is this true? Please anyone with advice/experience on how is relocate to the UK via college should share. I will greatly appreciate. |
Phocusjosh:Thank you for the tips. Please note that my comment about who vetted my SOP wasn’t to bring anyone down. I was only trying to let the house know that I didn’t just write up anything on my SOP or that I did have it reviewed by someone in the house. Concerning the docs to submit I did include birth certificate of siblings. I will definitely include parents marriage cert in my next application and also remember to mention the other points you mentioned. Thanks |

Guys kindly help with clarification. My question is that, is it usual that two weeks after having my biometrics done. I still haven’t gotten an update on my CIC Page that my biometrics result has been received from Vfs Nigeria? |
jnyuwa02:I did this already Sir. I’m asking if it’s usual that after two weeks I still haven’t gotten update on my CIC Page that my biometrics has been sent to them from Vfs? |
Good day House. I need clarification as regards confirmation of biometrics from CIC. I submitted my online application last week in March. Did my biometrics at vfs Nigeria first week April. I got a mail from VFS that my biometrics has been sent to CIC with a tracking number and link, which after I inpute on the vfs tracking page says “no profile found “. It is normal that till date my cic Page hasn’t been updated to confirm that my biometrics has been received from vfs? |
Shoutout to all the gurus in the house. Welcome back Frank.. My question is concerning booking tickets. Is it a must for one to book a to and fro flight/ticket, for a two years program in Canada or just book a to flight/ticket because I hear at point of entry it raises red flag of some sort? |
xzile:It cost N5000 and I’ll suggest you go to Alagbon Ikoyi |
Good day house. Im applying for TRV via online process. I have all necessary documents required for my visa application, scanned and arranged appropriately. Also I have filled the IMM1294E and IMM564E forms. My question is that are there other forms required for one to fill before submitting ones application? |
Good day house, my apology if this has been addressed before. I did search previous pages of this forum to confirm my question but my search wasn’t fruitful. That is why I’m asking; When filling the IMM1294 form under tuition, room and board, others and funds available to you. Do I insert the fee of one year for each column respectively or the fee for the entire course of the program. My one year fee breakdown is Tuition 10,221 Room &board 7000 Others 3000 Funds available to me for a year is 20,000 |
Good day all. In anticipation of TRV application, Can one have his/her medical done on a weekend or do any of the authorized medical centers attend to people on a weekend? My reason for asking is I will be applying soon. I go to work week days and I don’t want to do upfront medical. I just want to be sure that when the time comes, I can attend to medical call on a weekend. |

Asapant:Hi! to my knowledge graduate certificates are basically just certificates with no credit transfer. PGD on the other hand earns you credit transfer points to a masters program or an undergraduate program. I hope this helps. |
Olajide000:Paying one year tuition and your sponsor pushing 10,000 Cad to your personal account should suffice. Although as advised order for your GCMS note (it’s a document you request for from Canadian embassy that gives detailed reasons for your denial) it will help you prepare better for your next application. Sharing your profile means telling the house your age, work experience if any...basically listing out all the documents you submitted in your application |
Olajide000:Really Sorry about the delay. Order your GCMS note to know specific reasons for your delay. Before then you can share your profile here for the house to advice you on what to do and wha not. What level of study do you have? Is your prospective course of study in line with your previous academic degree? How many years is the program? What financial documents did your sponsor submit? Did your sponsor pay a semester tuition or show any financial commitment? Etc |
JoseJonn:Hi! I don’t have a response to all you ask. Concerning your sponsor giving a break down of other dependants is totally optional. I just feel it’s good in SOME scenarios to help clear the VO’s thought of insufficient fund. The amount spent on academics for the other dependants in one year can be a rough estimate stated in one sentence. It doesn’t have to be broken down into details. |
makano:Dom account = Domiciliary Account ( if you don’t have one, you should open one with any of the Nigerian banks of your choice, print the account statement showing your dad deposited 10,000 CAD for your living expenses) Since you have a younger brother, your Sponsor should State it in his affidavit of sponsorship that he only has one person depending on him ie your younger brother, asides you. He should also state an estimate of what he spends yearly on your younger brothers academics only). To me this will help the VO see that there’s enough available fund to cater for your 2yrs study in Canada. All the best. |
makano:Does your sponsor have other financial commitments apart from you ( like younger siblings) because your application seems tight enough. Also I’d advice you tell your dad to pay the living expense fee into your dom account Ensure the bank account he used for the application is not his business or company account ( with no lump sum deposit that isn’t accounted for) Restructure your SOP And pray! |
makano:Sorry about the delay. From the VO’s report you failed to convince him/her that you have strong financial backing and that there’s high job opportunity in your career path here in Nigeria. My questions to you are 1. How many years is the program? 2. Did you pay one year tuition? 3. Did your sponsor transfer 10,000 CAD to your acc as living expense fee 4 How much liquid cash did your sponsor show during your application? And did he/she explain source of income ? (Note that it’s not advisable to use a company or business account ) 5. In your SOP did you explain why this program, why Canada, future plans after studying, how the program exposes you to opportunities in Nigeria. Stating brief and concise meaningful accounts of each year since your graduate study. 6 lastly if you are working here in Nigeria did you submit documents to back it up. |
