Politics › Ombugadu Dumps APC Weeks After Defection Amid Guber Ambition In Nasarawa by Ofunaofu(op): 8:04pm On Mar 25 |
Ombugadu dumps APC weeks after defection amid guber ambition in Nasarawa Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, David Emmanuel Ombugadu, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), just weeks after joining the ruling party. Ombugadu, popularly known as Davematics, confirmed his decision on Tuesday, bringing an abrupt end to his short stay in the APC. His resignation comes amid concerns raised by a political group alleging a plan to frustrate his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 elections. The group also accused party stakeholders of manipulating the recently conducted electronic membership registration exercise, claiming it was designed to favour a preferred aspirant expected to succeed Governor Abdullahi Sule. Ombugadu had only recently defected to the APC after leaving the PDP, citing the prolonged leadership crisis within the opposition party as the reason for his exit. https://dailypost.ng/2026/03/25/ombugadu-dumps-apc-weeks-after-defection-amid-guber-ambition-in-nasarawa/?utm_source=operamini&utm_medium=feednews&utm_campaign=operamini_feednews |

Politics › Gawuna’s Phone “not Reachable” As Tinubu Mounts Pressure To Stop His Defection by Ofunaofu(op): 7:10pm On Mar 25 |
...... to Kwankwasiyya
A former Kano State deputy governor and 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, is now the most sought-after politician in Kano as President Bola Tinubu directed some top party leaders to stop his planned defection to the Kwankwasiyya movement and ultimately African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Mr Gawuna’s plan to align with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso to unseat Governor Abba Yusuf in 2027 is gaining currency in Kano. While the move is causing a stir in the APC, the Kwankwasiyya camp is agog over the defection plan.
Party insiders told this newspaper that Mr Gawuna has been largely unreachable in recent days, fueling speculation about ongoing political consultations outside the country. Efforts by key stakeholders within the APC to reach him have reportedly been unsuccessful.
Sources disclosed that Mr Gawuna travelled to Saudi Arabia during Ramadan to perform the lesser hajj (Umrah). However, days after the end of the holy month, he has yet to return to Nigeria. A source familiar with his movements said the former deputy governor subsequently proceeded on a private vacation to a North African country.
According to the source, Mr Gawuna placed his phone on “Do Not Disturb” mode to avoid mounting pressure and persistent calls from the party leaders seeking to stop his defection.
Mr Gawuna’s political move has rattled the Kano APC, prompting Governor Abba Yusuf to seek presidential support to persuade him not to leave the party.
Although details of the governor’s outreach remain unclear, insiders said Mr Tinubu had delegated a powerful senator from Zamfara State as well as a presidential adviser to lead the lobby.
According to one insider, the party is considering offering Mr Gawuna an automatic ticket for the Kano Central Senatorial District in the 2027 elections if he agrees to remain within its fold.
“The president is concerned about Gawuna’s defection plan. He is made to understand that not only Governor Yusuf’s second term ambition is at stake but the president’s support base in Kano,” said a source familiar with the presidential directive.
Pundits believe that Mr Gawuna is currently the most formidable governorship aspirant who can neutralize incumbency factor and further divide Kano APC during governorship and presidential elections.
“If Kwankwaso gives Gawuna governorship ticket, it will be a game over. Gawuna has a large support base among the youth, the ulama and business community. Apart from this, the APC will be further divided as most of the traditional supporters of the party will vote for Gawuna. So if you merge Gawuna’s political capital with Kwankwaso’s commanding support base, it will be a landslide win,” said a political pundit, Aminu Bashir.
Mr Gawuna, who polled over 800,000 votes in the 2023 governorship election, is reportedly undermined and relegated by his party. “It is baffling for APC to appoint someone who worked against his party as minister and then relegate someone who polled over 800,000 votes to a board chairman,” said an APC stalwart who preferred not to be named.
The supporters of the former deputy governor had been grumbling over what they perceive as his marginalisation within the APC since he lost election in 2023, and that he has not been considered for major federal appointments or strategic party roles.
There are also concerns among his loyalists regarding the reported non-payment of his entitlements as a former deputy governor by the state government, despite earlier call by a certain political figure for such obligations to be settled. https://dailynigerian.com/gawunas-phone-not-reachable-as-tinubu-mounts-pressure-to-stop-his-defection-to-kwankwasiyya/

Politics › 2027: Kwankwaso Aligning With Ex-apc Guber Candidate Gawuna by Ofunaofu(op): 6:55pm On Mar 25 |
Kano politics appears to be entering a new chapter as Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso publicly praised Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the APC’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate, raising speculation about a possible political alignment ahead of the 2027 elections. The remarks came during a special delegation’s visit to Kwankwaso’s residence on Miller Road, Kano, and were captured in a video shared on Facebook by his aide, Saifullahi Hassan. Kwankwaso described Gawuna as “one of the esteemed commissioners” and highlighted his integrity and respectfulness, even noting that past election pressures failed to sway him. “Even when pressured after the election to sign a document, he refused. That shows his quality,” Kwankwaso said. Addressing rumors that Gawuna might join the Kwankwasiyya movement, Kwankwaso added: “Since I started hearing this, I have been pleased.” Despite their past political rivalry—Gawuna ran under APC while Kwankwaso’s NNPP supported Abba Kabir Yusuf—Kwankwaso emphasized that Gawuna has always treated him with respect and never resorted to disparaging remarks. “I have never heard him say anything insulting; he respects me greatly,” he said https://pmnewsnigeria.com/2026/03/25/2027-kwankwaso-aligning-with-ex-apc-guber-candidate/ |

nedu666: So people were not moving between enugu and onitsha until tinubu came My brother, it’s quite unfortunate that propaganda has now become state policy under the Tinubu administration. And the OP conveniently refused to mention that the reconstruction of the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), under the federal government’s Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme, with MTN Nigeria financing almost 90% of the project. One can only imagine what the narrative would have been in the South East if Tinubu and not Buhari had been the one to build the Second Niger Bridge. Perhaps we’d be told that without Tinubu, the entire region would have been economically and otherwise cut off from the rest of the country. |
Politics › National Convention: APC Reserving Forms For Those Already In Power – Jijiwa by Ofunaofu(op): 7:08am On Mar 25 |
The All Progressives Congress, APC Youth Advocate and Director-General, Youth Jagaban Network, Umar Jijiwa, has alleged that the party’s convention organizers are keeping aspirant nomination forms for those already in power.
Jijiwa made this allegation on Tuesday when he featured in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television.
The organizers of the APC National Convention had reportedly said that the aspirant nomination forms have been exhausted.
Reacting to the development, Jijiwa said, “APC National Working Committee nomination forms were not issued to us after payment because they are being kept for those already in power.
“They are not sharing these forms with anyone outside the team. They’re for the same team members who want to remain in power.
“It’s not about candidates that were favoured. No. It’s the people that are there that gave forms to themselves that they are going to continue there. It’s not that there’s no room for other people. They anointed themselves.
“We paid, but then you did not give us form. Why? Because you only did one form, and you give it to the same person that is already there, that also has interest to stay there. That is what happened, not that there’s somebody anointed from outside.” https://dailypost.ng/2026/03/25/national-convention-apc-reserving-forms-for-those-already-in-power-jijiwa/

Difrent: This is a lie , stop misleading people. What the new electoral act did is say certificate forgery is a pre election matter and should be trashed pre election, abi wetin you dey look while your opponent present a forged certificate, if you dull yourself and your opponent got elected through a forged certificate, then use anti forgery law on them, and not clog election tribunal with matters that should have been trashed pre election . Even in the old law, Who has ever gotten sacked for certificate forgery? Nobody Even the Bayelsa case, the votes of the offender was simply transferred to the opponent Na wa for you o, So make we understand you well, if person commit forgery, win election, enter office, na ‘sorry for yourself’ be the solution because you no shout early? because you no dictate the forgery before him win the election? Since when fraud get expiry date? You talk say make we ‘use anti-forgery law’—who go remove am from office while that one dey go on? Or na decoration the law be? And that Bayelsa example you quote sef contradict you, if forgery no serious, why dem no allow the person stay? No be about ‘clogging tribunal’, na about integrity. Election no be hide and seek where once you cross finish line, every crime don expire. If certificate na basis to qualify, then forgery no be small technicality wey you fit wave off like that. |
