PoliticsAPC Suspends Uche Ogah For Supporting Otti’s Second Term Bid by Ofunaofu(op): 3:43am On Mar 17
The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended the former Minister, Dr Sampson Ogah, following what the party described as anti-party activities.

Ogah had in a Labour Party event over the weekend in Isuikwuato, declared his support for the reelection of the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, but also reiterated his loyalty to President, Bola Tinubu.

‎Addressing journalists at the Party’s Secretariat, Umuahia on Monday after a meeting involving the party’s State Working Committee and the 17 Local Government Area Chairmen, the party’s Legal Adviser, Vigenus Chukwudi Nwankwo, said Ogah had already been suspended at the ward and local government levels since 2022 over alleged anti party activities.

‎Nwankwo explained that the party could not suspend Ogah again, but only reaffirm the existing disciplinary action against him.

‎Citing the provisions of Article 22, Section 2, Subsection 2 of the party’s constitution, he maintained that Ogah remains a suspended member of the party.

‎According to him, the comments attributed to the former minister are capable of undermining the party’s chances in the 2027 governorship election in the state.

The party further expressed concern that statements by individuals who claim membership of the APC could bring the party to disrepute and weaken its political prospects in Abia ahead of the 2027 election.

‎Earlier at the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of the party in the state, Chinedu Ihesielo, congratulated the 17 local government chairmen on the successful conduct of the party congresses at the ward, local government and state levels.

‎He urged party leaders to remain united, stressing that internal disagreements should give way to collective efforts aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

‎Ihesielo added that the APC in Abia remains committed to reclaiming political leadership in the state in the next electoral cycle.

‎During the meeting, the party also endorsed Donatus Nwankpa for the position of National Welfare Secretary at the forthcoming national convention of the APC scheduled for March 28, 2027.

‎Party leaders said Nwankpa has demonstrated commitment and experience within the party structure and expressed confidence in his ability to serve effectively if elected.

ADC Chieftain Reveals Why N’Assembly Removed Certificate Forgery in Electoral Act

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ladan Salihu, has alleged that the National Assembly of Nigeria deliberately removed provisions relating to certificate forgery from the Electoral Act as part of political calculations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Salihu made the allegation on Monday during an appearance on The Morning Show on Arise Television.

He argued that the legislative decision may have been influenced by political interests connected to the ruling party’s candidate in the last presidential election.

According to the ADC chieftain, the National Assembly has increasingly come under the influence of the executive arm of government.

He claimed that lawmakers often align their actions with the wishes of the presidency rather than acting independently.

Salihu suggested that the removal of certificate forgery provisions from the Electoral Act raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in the country’s electoral system.

He further argued that such a move could limit the ability of courts to entertain certain electoral disputes in the future.

Speaking during the programme, he said:

“Look, we all know when you say the National Assembly is this and it’s that. Everybody knows that we don’t have a National Assembly. We have a National Assembly that is overpowered by the executive that has become the eco chamber of the executive.

“They do the bidding of the executive. They are the willing tools of the executive in perpetuating a grand design to structurally capture power in 2027 by way of subterfuge.

“So if you take anything to the National Assembly, be rest assured that you will be overpowered. It doesn’t matter whether conscience is involved or anything of that, no decorum, no conscience.

“Nothing will justify that. How do you delete the issue of forgery from the Electoral Act?

“It is simply because of their own presidential candidate in the last elections. And if you do that, you are now clearing the ground for him to make sure that such issues do not come up again for discussion in the courts when you go to the judiciary. Let me just leave this for another day.”

However, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, rejected the claims during the same programme.

Morka explained that the Electoral Act cannot override the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He stressed that certificate forgery remains a criminal offence under Nigerian law regardless of provisions contained in the electoral legislation.

He stated that the absence of specific wording in the Electoral Act does not legalise or excuse acts of forgery in the country.

“Let me remind you that if the Electoral Act does not supersede or overcome Nigeria’s constitution. Under Nigerian law, certificate forgery is still a criminal activity.

“The Electoral Act does not abolish forgery, whether certificate forgery or other kinds of forgery, as a crime under Nigerian law. It doesn’t

PoliticsIreti Kingibe: ADC Suspends Wuse Ward Chairman, Two Others by Ofunaofu(op): 9:23pm On Mar 15
The Federal Capital Territory chapter of African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday suspended three executive members from Wuse Ward in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) for allegedly spearheading the controversial suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe.

Ms Kingibe currently represents FCT at the Senate.

The suspended executive members include the ward Chairman, Kanayo Chukwu as well as Amanda Pam and Omale Suleiman.

Addressing journalists and party members in Abuja, a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Emmanuel Destiny, said the purported suspension was in violation of the party’s constitution and laid-down procedures.

Mr Destiny also said that the suspension lacked legitimacy as due process was not followed.

“The party is supreme to every individual. Until now, the national wing of the party has not been served any letter of complaint or petition against Senator Kingibe.

You cannot wake up and suspend a serving senator without putting your complaints or petition in writing,” he said.

Mr Destiny added that the national leadership would not condone what he described as misconduct by the ward officials.

“We are fully present to say ‘No’ to such shenanigans and the misbehaviour of a self-acclaimed Wuse ward chairman not recognised by the party.

“Whatever gangsterism they have been parading in the last 72 hours, the national wing of the party will take full disciplinary action against them,” he stated.

Also weighing in on the controversy, the party’s Deputy National Auditor, Nneka Nneboh, said the leadership could no longer remain silent after giving those involved ample opportunity to follow due process.

She said, “It is of no use keeping quiet because we asked them to do the right thing and follow the proper channel.

“Whatever decision we take here today stands, and as a national officer, I want to say it is time to call a spade a spade. Enough is enough.”

The party’s FCT Secretary, John Hyginus, also criticised what he described as administrative lapses and disregard for the party’s constitution.

“We are here to address the administrative incompetence of the state chairman and the gross breach of the party’s constitution as well as several anti-party activities he has committed.

“Today, the ward and area council chairmen have passed a vote of no confidence in the three initiators of Senator Kingibe’s suspension,” he stated.

The meeting, held at ADC’s FCT secretariat in Abuja, drew representatives from key organs of the party, including the FCT Chairman, Clement Ihigiato; the Secretary, John Hyginus; AMAC Chairman, Emeka Nnamani, Danlami Zuru and Jemila Ahmadu, among others.

The controversy began earlier in the week when officials of the party’s Wuse ward announced Ms Kingibe’s suspension over allegations of anti-party activities, insubordination and breach of party rules.

The senator was also accused of withholding funds meant for the party’s campaigns during the recent area council elections in the FCT.

The national leadership of the party, however, distanced itself from the suspension.

In an earlier statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, urged the public and the media to disregard the report, describing it as false and misleading.

The motion seeking the suspension of the three ward executives was moved by an ADC chieftain from Wuse ward, Danlami Zuru, and seconded by an exco member from the ward, Samuel Dimgba.

In an open letter reportedly sent to members of the party’s National Working Committee, the ward publicity secretary, Samuel Nwigbo, raised concerns on how “a serious party” would attempt to go into a major election with a candidate who refused to openly campaign for her party in an election held within her constituency.

PoliticsOwerri ‘city Boys Movement’ Rampage: Onoh Recalls Foretold Strategy by Ofunaofu(op): 4:58pm On Mar 15
President Bola Tinubu’s former spokesman in the south east and Chairman of the Forum of Former Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Denge Josef Onoh has recalled his earlier warning on the strategy to be employed in the composition of the leadership of City Boys Movement, particularly in the south east region.

Onoh’s retrospect followed Saturday’s rampage in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, where there was a disruption at a City Boys Movement rally in Owerri, by invited youths across the south east who at the venue looted empowerment materials meant for distribution.

Reports had it the invited youths took to the looting of the materials because of alleged underpayment for their transportation fares, while other reports said it could have arose out of conspiracy to sabotage the leadership of the movement in the south east.

The disruption has sparked debate, with some viewing it as a reaction to alleged unpaid mobilisation fees, while others see it as an attack on a political group.

The City Boys Movement is a pro-government support group advocating for President Tinubu’s policies, and the rally was part of a broader outreach to mobilize young people across the zone.

Reacting to the Owerri incident, Onoh recalled that he had on January 26 2026 advised the national leader of the City Boys Movement, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, on the strategy to apply in the organigram of the leadership of the support group, particularly in the south east zone.

In a statement, on Sunday, Onoh recalled he had urged Seyi Tinubu to exercise caution in the organisation and coordination of the Movement, warning that parallel structures could complicate party cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He cited his experience during the 2023 electioneering period and his concern for strengthening the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the region.

He acknowledged the intention behind youth mobilisation efforts and the involvement of prominent private-sector figures, but stressed the need for alignment with existing party structures and leadership in the South-East to avoid duplication of roles or misunderstandings.

According to him, “the APC’s electoral performance in the South-East has historically lagged behind other regions, making coordination and unity among party stakeholders essential. I advised that any new political initiative should complement, rather than compete with established party mechanisms. Introducing additional coordinative layers could be misinterpreted by party members and supporters, potentially weakening collective efforts and that could have been the conspiracy behind yesterday’s rampage.”

He noted that public visibility alone does not substitute for long-term political mobilisation and commended the civic interest of business leaders and professionals in national development.

Onoh maintained that political engagement in the South-East requires sensitivity to local dynamics, party history and ongoing efforts by elected officials and party leaders.

He also called for renewed engagement with party loyalists in the region, emphasising the importance of recognition, inclusion and communication to maintain morale and commitment.

Any city boy or village boy movements that is not under the firm control and coordination of APC governors in their respective states and party structures is dead on arrival and a waste of energy as history has proved over time that neophytes have no connection with grassroot politics,” Onoh said.

He urged all stakeholders to prioritise cohesion, dialogue and strategic cooperation in advancing the party’s objectives nationwide most especially with the state governors.

He described the composition of the Southeast city boy movement as “transactional” with no interest of the President but as a political business opportunity to benefit from whatever the convenor or founder has to give away.

“The entire southeast feel they are excluded from the current government more than the Buhari administration hence their anger which yesterday’s sad event proved. This is the reason why the support and focus should be on the Southeast governors if the president will succeed and the objectives of the City Boys Movement be realised. Failure to do so would tantamount to the movement simply becoming another Nollywood celebrity cast movie.

PoliticsNSA Ribadu Accused Of Blocking US Troops From Christian Communities In Plateau by Ofunaofu(op): 11:50am On Mar 15
A Plateau State cleric, Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, has accused Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, of allegedly preventing the deployment of United States soldiers to Plateau State despite earlier calls for international intervention over persistent attacks in the area.

Dachomo, who serves as the Barkin Ladi Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), made the allegation in a video message released on Friday.

The cleric has been one of the most vocal religious leaders raising concerns about killings and violent attacks affecting communities in parts of Plateau State.

In the video, Dachomo recalled that he had earlier appealed to former United States President Donald Trump to intervene in the security crisis affecting the state.

According to him, the appeal followed repeated attacks on villages and the killing of residents in communities he described as predominantly Christian.

He claimed that when the United States later carried out military operations against insurgent groups in northern Nigeria, Plateau State was excluded from the deployment of foreign troops.

The cleric said, “When I invited Trump to Nigeria to come and help us, their blueprint was that none of the American soldiers should come to Plateau State.

“The National Security Adviser redirected the attention of the U.S. to Sokoto State and the Muslim-dominated areas in the north.”

Dachomo alleged that the United States had initially planned to assist communities facing repeated attacks but that the deployment was redirected to other areas following what he described as intervention by Nigeria’s security leadership.

He also suggested that the deployment of foreign troops to other northern states had created the impression that Muslim communities were being protected while violence continued in Christian-majority areas.

According to him, “Now the Muslims are enjoying the coming of Trump and the American soldiers. They are now saying Trump is in Nigeria to protect the Muslims.”

The cleric further alleged that killings were still occurring across several parts of northern Nigeria despite the presence of security forces.

He said, “Christians are being killed like chickens. There are killings ongoing in Christian-dominated areas in Borno, Kwara, Kaduna, Benue, and Plateau.”

Dachomo warned that communities in the Middle Belt could eventually resort to defending themselves if the attacks continue without adequate protection.

He stated, “That is their roadmap to wipe out Christians in Nigeria, to make sure that nobody stands for us. It has come to a time when we must stand up and defend ourselves.”

The outspoken cleric also claimed that the deployment of foreign troops had benefited communities that did not initially request the intervention.

“Now the Muslims in northern Nigeria are benefiting more than the Christians who called for the help,” he added.

Dachomo has repeatedly drawn national attention through his advocacy on the security crisis in Plateau State. The cleric has frequently accused armed groups of targeting Christian communities and has called for international intervention to address the violence.

You’re asking where anyone has ever heard of it as if Nigerian politics runs on some sacred manual of precedent. It doesn’t. The point isn’t whether it has happened before; the point is whether it makes sense.

If someone has been the Chief of Defence Staff while insecurity keeps worsening, reappointing that same person as Minister of Defence naturally raises questions. That’s not 'wondering over nothing'; that’s basic accountability.

My expectation of a Defence Minister is simple: focus on national security, strategy, coordination of the armed forces, and improving outcomes on the ground. Not appearing to prioritize APC events while communities are still battling banditry, terrorism, and kidnappings.

And those expectations aren’t “horse wishes.” They come from the job description of a Defence Minister in any serious country.

If citizens can’t question decisions about security leadership during one of the worst security crises Nigeria has faced, then what exactly are we supposed to do, clap first and ask questions never?
