Sooo surprised to hear that a developer is jobless angry angry angry

People will be shouting go and learn a skill esp coding as if it will make you automatically self employed and comfortable.

Any skill that will involve job hunting to succeed is not worth it. That is why content creation, YouTube channel, blogging, affiliate marketing seems better

Ndi football except you are earning from the game, focus less on it and find something to earn from.

USD is already 1255 today & rising more than ijebu garri while they are trying to change price of PMS.

This year will be tough for those without multiple sources of income.

Except you are being fed by someone football should be the least of your concerns.

So, there's a man who wants me to be his wife. Honestly, he possesses the qualities of a good husband, but I can't deny that I don't find him attractive. Despite my efforts, I can't seem to develop feelings for him. Seeing his face makes me angry, even though he treats me well and spends generously. His height and face are a deal-breaker for me. If I accept his proposal, I know it will cause pain, but no matter how rude I've been, he won't let go. I'm considering running away from my community altogether. I don't want him to know my parents; otherwise, I'm done.

Like I wrote, they insist they will only sell in USD to Dangote. Remember, most of the oil majors we have in Nigeria are foreign companies. They have people they already sell to outside Nigeria in USD. They would leave those to come sell to Dangote in Naira that continues to lose value. You sef check am!

People or companies are governed by laws, how hard is that for you to understand? Naira is our legal tender not USD. It's illegal to conduct business in Nigeria in USD, get that into your thick skull.

Hope you are aware crude oil sellers insists they will only sell in USD to Dangote refinery? This increases the pressure on Naira unless Dangote refinery produces excess for export. Nigeria still has backlog of oil futures to fulfill plus, the backlog of USD belonging to foreign companies like Emirate airways and the rest which Nigeria is yet to clear because Nigeria have borrowed heavily against the external reserve and the reserve can't cover the backlog.

***Not an advise but I read somewhere here that AFRI-EXIM bank is gonna lend Nigeria some FX to clear those backlogs. (They will lend us more FX which in turn increases our FX denominated debt (pressure to the naira) and also our overall debt. This is like taking Panadol to suppress a headache that is destined that we MUST suffer) If that happen, it means Naira will gain. Just wait for naira to hit resistance and start loading up Naira sell. Naira will hit NGN2500 before then end of 2024.

It is illegal to sell crude oil to a company in Nigeria in USD, Dangote can take them to court, USD is not our legal tender.

We need home of the aged in Nigeria ASAP for people who wants to think outside the box.

Can only happen if Dangote refinery fails to come on before March 2024.

People holding USD will be shocked next year once this refinery comes on.

USD is heavily over priced and should be going down to between 800 & 900.

Gini

Thank God you asked

Now turn back and run like you saw a ghost

I tried it years back and almost choked from daily shouting on phone, mind this was when fuel, was 145 per litre, oil very cheap & parts super cheap.

Imagine now that fuel is 680.

The only way it will succeed is if you will be the driver

The problem is our job seeking mentality.

Your education is a prove that you are teachable.

Retrain your mind to constantly search, see and seize opportunities (online & offline) for money making around you.

Give value (products or services) and start earning to start your financial Journey.

No one cares and no one is coming to save you. Face what is facing you.

Investment / What Is Your Best Investment Decision In 2023 & plans for 2024 by ogawisdom(m): 4:35pm On Dec 29, 2023
Let's learn from one another

When it comes to investment, always remember that you can't do everything. Focus on a few things you understand well. I did a couple of things but the one that paid most was buying USD at 870 and offloading at 1260. This action brought in millions.

I am still watching Dangote refinery project, targeting it's IPO and stock investment.

It will also likely appreciate naira against USD the reason I pulled out of holding USD momentarily.

If it fails I am buying back USD again.

Let's here your best investment decision in 2023.

2024 to do more

Treasury bills
Money market fund
Stocks (US & Nigeria)
Real estate
USD holding

Do they tax interest on MMF?

On the compounding aspect does it mean if i invested 1000000 and it earns 300 daily then after day one the next interest will be calculated on principal of 1000300?

Trying to make a return to MMF with Stanbic, left for fixed income for some time now.

Good day nairalanders

I have listened to a couple of preachers both secular and religious on the issue of what is prime in a relationship and they revolve around these three which are romance, finance and purpose.
Some said romance is important, while others finance and yet some others purpose.

Which is more important.
I think it's purpose.

What do you think.
.

The most important thing in life (not just relationship) is finance (money) even a complete idi.ot knows this. Don't wait to learn this too late in life. Once you have money you have almost everything in life.

After trying medicine 3 times. I had to settle for a science course. I'm currently done with my first degree, NYSC and doing a little job by the side.

The thing is, i want to go back to medical school. I have a burning desire to study medicine, i dream about it everyday and would be rather unfulfilled if i don't study medicine.

The questions i have are:

1. I intend to start my study in my late 20s. Hopefully 28,29,or at 30years old.

2. What are the disadvantages of studying medicine and graduating in my late 30s.?

3. How is employment at that age?

What are the difficulties i should expect?

Be brutally honest. Thanks

Romance / Re: My Girlfriend Demands Too Much Money by ogawisdom(m): 3:56pm On Dec 28, 2023

Seeking your thoughts, everyone!!!

I work as a salaried individual and earn around 400k monthly.

However, my girlfriend constantly asks for money. I give her almost 100k every month and she feels it's not enough for her. She's even voiced discontent, suggesting I only send her money when she explicitly requests it.

I'm beginning to suspect her motives, as she seems solely focused on my income.

She never suggests saving or helps in cutting costs; her primary interest lies in spending everything.
Despite my genuine love for her, I can't keep up with her demands. I had hopes for our future together, but it seems unlikely now.

I'm considering a breakup as a solution.

Has anyone navigated a similar situation?

Jeez

The day she comes to bill me again.

I will just chip in something like:
“Go and sell ten bags of cement from your building site and use the money to settle whatever you want to settle”..

She will be like: “What are you talking about?”

Then I go like: “The house you're building,, sell some of the cement you already bought, and you have the money to do whatever you want to do”

Lol grin Stay cool

Or you ask her whether she has run out on building materials and needed your money to buy more.

To continuing billing me I guess?

I will ignore her and unleash my own secret on her.

It means we will keep alot of secrets in that marriage, who says I can't secretly marry and start another family elsewhere before kicking her out angry

NB I will support her if she is open about it and has been supporting in our home.

Family / Re: We Are Expecting A Baby But My Wife Wants Me To Buy Christmas Rice For Her Mom by ogawisdom(m): 10:26am On Dec 24, 2023
Valoromega:
My wife and I are expecting our first child, so currently I'm saving up money before the baby comes, we are also trying to get baby things of almost 400k.

But she wants me to buy Christmas rice for her mom. I've already decided that I'm not buying anything for anyone this December, including my own mom. But she wants me to buy for her mom which I refused becauze my baby is more important.
Mind you, she has elder ones who can't even get anything for their mom this December (she's the youngest). I just lied to her that I'm broke and I don't have any money. But I have close to 1.7 million which I want I to save for the baby and also get a car for when the baby comes.

I'm I making the right decision by ignoring everyone this December or should I take like 100k and just buy a bag of rice and share to the mom.

Personally I don't want to spend a dime on anyone because my child is the most important thing right now

Buy rice and other things in smaller quantities and share to everyone. Say half bag or quarter bag. At all at all Na em worse pass.

There is no excuse for not giving your family and in law something at Christmas.

And this is why the op is hurting.
He took this guy as a brother and had no secrets with him.

Let’s all be realistic and stop all this stoicism; it’s painful.

If op had seen the guy as just another of his guys, e for no pain am.
But he took this guy as a brother and hid nothing from him.
Why should he hide such huge leap from op?
So op doesn’t wake up from his slumber if he probably hasn’t built his own house?
Then he isn’t a good friend.

Op, learn your lesson and move.
He was never a friend.
Or probably, never valued you as much as you valued him.

Reason why I just expect nothing from no one and expect everyone to disappoint me; ahead, ahead…

Op is the problem, he doesn't have sense.

It's not about what you call or take someone as it's about what he calls or takes you as.

I am glad he just learnt his major life lesson.

No sensible person shares personal things in the name of friendship that can change with weather.

The friend is wiser and he should learn from him

I understand where you are coming from, but you know it takes some months to build a house and during these periods of time, the acclaimed friend of the OP would have been dining and wining with the OP without telling him that he's building a house. He intentionally kept it secret from the OP.

Personally I don't see any sense in it. Telling the OP will not stop him from building his house, why then keep it a secret from him?

It is his choice respect that.

What should worry us is that op didn't see any clue of him not being a close friend up till now which shows that op is a dull thing.

We should all wise up

I don't know if I should be angry or just smile and take it as it is. This is someone that I fed, I clothed despite us being closed friends since we were kids. He knows everything about me that my parents don't even know till dates..We could go to a gathering together and I will be the one ordering and paying for everything we bought even recently because I always acted like the big bro and he accepted I guess .. Just last week I saw it on his status about is house opening invite. I later got a dm from him that same evening telling me about it that I should come through.

It came as a surprise I admit, even though I know he was doing quite well for himself. I know some will call it entitlement mentality but since I considered we were close like a brother we even ate from same plate last 2weeks, I thought I should have known atleast.

Note: I noticed so many people will come in here to call me names, even some accusing me to be someone with bad motives and sort I smile. Not everyone has a evil mindset like you or some persons you know, It's just that when you expect so much from people you hold very close to your heart you might get disappointed and it hurts badly.

Especially when you know you can't do that same thing to that person. I only brought it out here because I wanted to know maybe I'm overreacting because I feel a deep level of betrayal but hey I am happy for him and I will attend the house opening tomorrow.

File Photo for Illustration

What is the problem here

You see him as a close brother, are you going to force him to do the same?

This is same problem we have in marriage, men love a woman who only cares about what he can provide and later cry.

Op for you not to see any clue he doesn't treat you the same up till now means you are not smart but a needy attached fo.ol
