The food part really got to me...walahi, people will either buy food, order for their own food to be brought to the office or bring food from home and as a normal person I wont even think twice about it or notice it...but once my food is brought for me(I order most times though I bring food from home atimes)....everyone will become quiet and you will begin to see people peering from the corner of their eyes...there is this lady opposite me who annoys me with her attitude at this time....if she was talking before, once my food is brought to me, she just keeps quiet (you know that kind of questionable quietness or say, loud quietness) and either starts look for whatever it is she looks for in her bag, starts looking at her mirror or her phone or decides to peer at her computer screen... there are other people in the office but that lady's attitude pisses me off, initially, when I say come and join me,...she will ask for meat or for a little portion to be left for her...usually when I say come and join me,i am only saying it out of courtesy not for you to literally come and join me or ask for anything...she got me so pissed one time when I bought solid food (eba and soup) and I said, come and join me as usual..and aunty wanted to come, I got so angry and said I didn't mean it literally and I also don't like to share food ( I have been suffering in silence before then)..she asked me why I usually said come and join me, and I said its simple courtesy, everyone knows it...funny enough, when they are eating and say come and join me, i don't even look up to reply my usual 'NO@ The whole thing annoys me....I manage to keep my annoyance down but each time I buy food,i don't eat my food in peace...its like...all eyes on my food... The office place can be interesting but atimes you meet weird people who frustrate you.. |
there is a yoruba proverb that says 'if we serve pounded Yam on a leaf and soup on groundnut pod...whoever will get filled..will get filled...pardon my interpretation,i am ibo,but I want to assume that the grammar explains itself ....in as much as the general reaction to this bizarre product of our educational system is to blame the system...it would be an error on our part if we absolve the 'applicant' of any blame.... Nowadays, its common to meet graduates who disappoint you when you get close to them....yes,our educational system has its faults and shortcoming...yet,it has produced men and women of ebullient sagacity.. you and I are an example....of course we had to make do with what we were given like the cliche of making lemonade with the lemons life gives us... no educational system equips you with all you need, there is still a place for personal development and academic curiousity...call it research.... ..the sad note posted above is analogous to the case of that biblical servant who buried his talent and refused to work with what he got... |
this is definitely a joke...nice one OP...made my day.... |
Niyuu:same here...I think he over exaggerated.... |
this isn't a 2002 model oga... |

Gmajor:actually the burn is on the guy who replied Dr Sid....he made no sense.. |
vislabraye:I agree with your last sentence....well at 14,i didnt have a full glimpse of what I wanted to become, but I knew the things I had to do if I wanted to have a chance to be successful....with regards to the mentoring,I completely agree,Parents have a lot of work to do in that area....its not enough to provide food, shelter, clothing, education and such likes for the child,...mentoring is very important especially at a very young age...14 is even to late to start mentoring a child...the society offers so much for different ages.... |
Joavid:I agree with you on this one....its a sad story and the damage has been done already however,in addition to what you have said, the training of the girl child has to be taken seriously....i am not saying the male child should be treated with levity...by no means...yet it is evident in our society today...more work has to be done in the upbringing of the girl child...there shouldn't be reason why a lady will have to sell her body to make ends meet...nothing justifies it... Thanks for the birthday Greetings...I really appreciate, I want to assume I have made a new friend today...best wishes... |
MrLekan95:bro,i never said that I feel no sympathy for her,far from it....however 14 isnt too young to take a decision for yourself,...its because of this kind of thinking we have immature adults..twenty - somethings who think, act and behave like teenagers or like my friend Yuneehk will put it...overgrown babies...what you should have probably said is at that age and her surrounding circumstance, she needed a mentor or a mature adult to navigate the difficulty of that period,..the real problem isn't the fact that she became a prostitute, the problem lay in her poor choice, who knows what other terrible thing would have happened to her...look 14 isnt too young to take a decision for her life,if I remember, she was a secondary school graduate..permit me to use that word graduate...at 14...she should have at least a faint picture of the future she wants for herself.. |
Joavid:I agree with your last sentence...you should have started with it....i never said there wasn't a relationship...I just didn't see the justification for prostitution therein....I definitely have some sympathy for her... The crime and decay in our society is loosely attached to circumstances like this one yet again...one shouldn't throw out the bath water with the baby in it.. |
well...I don't want to say I jinxed this match..but I kinda saw it coming.. |
well,i don't know what happened in between...but I am still finding hard to see her being raped as a justification for becoming a prostitute, of course there are many ills in our society today, yet we can point one or two people who rose above similar circumstances, and made a better life for themselves..i pray she gets the help she craves before she does something silly.. |
