There have been Yoruba SUG presidents in the SE.
I was schooling at FUTO in the 90s when we overwhelmingly elected a Yoruba student from Oyo/Osun, Comrade J. Onifade, as SUG President.

Okay, first, the 9th president of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo, was UI SUG president. Go confirm this. Note, this is not just non Yoruba, but specifically igbo. If I were to mention any non Yoruba, your guess is as good as mine.

We had non-Igbo leaders, both school-wide and departmentally. Case in point: around 1997-98, the 70% Igbo-populated school overwhelmingly elected a Yoruba student from Oyo/Osun, Comrade ONIFADE, as the SUG President over 8 candidates who were Igbo. Before him, there was Comrade ETIM from Akwa Ibom, whom we overwhelmingly supported to win the National President of NANS in 1994, before Sani Abacha proscribed all SUGs temporarily for all their protests against his government.

This is an example of a people that wont allow its government to take them for granted. Taxation must come with reasonable justification, better representation, and significant results in the quality of life of the people being taxed. Lawmakers, executives, bureaucrats, and the judiciary cannot be living large corruptly, while the citizens wallow in abject poverty and wade through swamps of difficulties. Nigeria has one of the worst cases of taxation without equal rights and better life for all.

Peter Obi is a great man! Whether he’s president or not, he understands the macroeconomics necessary to empower communities, institutions, and businesses towards unemployment and poverty reduction while increasing social equity, productivity, and sustainable growth, which eventually boosts the economy of the country.

Willful ignorance leaves you more blockheaded, if unchecked. 70% of them leaving still benefits the region by the resources and knowledge they bring back home.

Nothing in this country is geared towards the overall benefit of the country because of bad leadership that has diminished any sense of patriotism among Nigerians. Our education system should be purpose driven for the overall development of the country. Any enlightened mind should know that majority of the commercial, national administrative, and graft laundering activities happen in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano, respectively. States, like Anambra, Kaduna, Abia, Oyo, Enugu, etc, who have no seaports, international airports, nor bank/multinational headquarters are actually trying. So, stop the empty bloviation.
