MumTee: Try and renew if you can, find a contact in Immigration offices in Ilorin, Akure etc to have a shorter passport processing time, then when you get passport request, you will submit both old and new.
To renew over there in Canada, u will have to go to Ottawa to do it, depending on ur location in Canada, that might cost you about 1,000CAD or more (flight, hotel, passport fee etc) What about renewing it when it's already stamped with Visa and going with both? As the stamp is just for entry into Canada and study permit at the point of entry on the new passport, can it work that way? |

Cde1: It is bro most sites I have checked old portal are the one getting decisions in most cases also only few people use the new portal and almost all has been waiting for more than 4months. My cousin use the new portal since aug 2nd no decision. His friend going to same school who use the old portal submitted on August 24th has gotten ppr Why the unnecessary argument Bro, the portal doesn't matter, I and some of my friends used the old portal since June and july, yet no show, not even eligibility. Only medical updated since August 3rd. Background check has been running since we submitted. Some that used new portal got theirs in less than 2 months. Ours is almost 4 months now |

YinksXO: Correction: if you have a valid visa on an old passport, that visa will still be valid even though you have a new passport, that's why the immigration will stamp "without prejudice" on the old passport. You can still use the visa, just take both passports along for your trip.
Secondly, if you renew your passport, send the new biodata page through webform and to Nairobi email and when you receive PPR, you can send the new passport, it will be stamped, regardless that you used an old passport for the initial application. Just like you said, the old passport number is indicated on the new one and there should be no issues.
Hope this helps. What if you have the Visa stamp already before renewing the passport prior to your travel? Will the Visa still be valid |

jaydave: That’s not true . Nothing of such is on Cic website , on their site dey wrote atleast 6months validity and they won’t give visa more dan d validity date on a passport . Let’s say for instance ur 8mnths validity pp gets stamped d validity date on d visa wudnt be more dan d 8mnths . 3mnths to d expiry date of d pp , it’s advisable u present a new pp where new visa for d duration of ur stay wud be stamped …. To avoid all these stress , if u can renew ur pp now den go ahead and do it , so that u can use it for ur visa processing instead . What if they have already requested for your passport? Can you still renew and travel with it? |

Not really, he's only required to submit new application if the application is already approved. But she only got medical request, so he can still send a new loa from a different DLI to ircc before the approval. |

Some people submit a new application through a lawyer. That's different from a judicial review. Which is cheaper dear? Learnt judicial review is expensive and time consuming? If applying through a lawyer is easier and cheaper, then that's the best option as most of these denials are out of the requirements for the study permit. |
