kalunomics: Nobody is disrupting anybody or any economic activity, atleast not with the presence of the fierce trigger happy military personels lurking around the entire SE and some SS states. Nobody was compelled to stay at home but was rather appealed to observe the day which they obliged. http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/well-enforce-sit-at-home-directive-massob-warns/ Don't act naive.. Who would dare go into Main Market Onitsha and open up for business with these touts running the streets? Who would dare have a wedding in Aba with these touts running the street? Who would dare open up for business in Ariria with these touts lose on the streets? My brother, lets start speaking the truth. The threat from MASSOB is very real. Anyone who dares open up for business in any MASSOB stronghold would be lynched to death. #Fact 1 Like |

Ndjones: Sadly I can't reciprocate the feeling.. Not because I'm arrogant, but simply because I never had an idea of your existence before now. I'm sorry, I've just been too busy with more important things and people. Okay! Thanks for the passion, I suggest you and my many other haters gather together and form an association and since you have passion, I nominate you as the leader. When that is done, I need you to send me a communique on all of your hating. 1 Like |

This is a shout out to the mod of this thread for sanitising it.. Now back to the matter at hand. MASSOB will lead us nowhere.. If we must succeed as a people, we need to call a conference of Ndi Igbos worldwide and really discuss our issues. A lot of us here are very sentimental (myself inclusive). If we don't all adopt a clear headed approach, we will continue to be lost. We are like the Jews of Isreal, so confused, it took them 40 years to complete a Journey that shouldn't have lasted more than a few weeks. MASSOB is an association of touts. I have seen them at work in Onitsha and Aba. I'm too well schooled to be led by touts. They had a good idea whit this stay at home thing, but to threaten the safety of Ndi Igbos who flouted it is absolutely unacceptable. Most people are indoors because of the threat to lives and properties. Sme of you here are so clueless that you have to idea the cyclic effect of this. By Monday, many Igbo sons and daughters would be out of a job. many Igbo sons and daughters would have lost many opportunities simply because they couldn't move. Many Igbo business men would have lost sure deals to other rivals. The people who set up this did not take that into consideration. Infact most of you here typing are not even living within MASSOB territories.. This is not like a nationwide strike, where it can be understood and classified as a force majure. I'm sorry, but I am really appalled by this. When educated men allow touts rule them, this is what you get. Ever wondered why the top dogs amongst us never fully associated with MASSOB? It's for reasons such as this. Anyi ka na gba ari ka Ndi nzuzu. In times like this, I can only wonder when we will start making true strides in this nation. One moment we are lashing out and demanding a Nation, next moment we are clamouring for a division, next we are calling for the head of Ndi Hausa, next we are allying with the same Ndi Hausa (Rochas), next we want to rule the same nation we just clamoured to leave.. Isn't this madness? 7 Likes |

SEYI_KP: HAS YOUR NAMES IMPLIES UR PLACE SHOULD BE THE SHRINE, U ARE A FUCKING INSTIGATOR, ASSUMING U KNEW IBADAN OF 3YRS AGO U WILL NOT BE POURING THIS CRAP FROM UR TAP. IF PREVIOUS GOVERNORS HAD DONE THE SAME THING, THERE WILL NOT BE NEED 4 THIS. Most of you really do have a one track mind.. If I want to argue in line with Gbawe, it's easy.. I would applaud this as a good development. Akwa Ibom Governor built something similar and got rave reviews, which I understood because previously, they all sold under wooden make-shift stalls. Me on the other hand, I'm not impressed. I'm tired of these ridiculously stupid and half assed so called developmental strides that the government keeps feeding us. Look at it like this... Just because an area previously had only a foot path does not make a graded road the best. Just because Ibadan was a hell hole 3 yrs ago does not mean that they can't get the best. Like I said, let someone get us the budget used in building this market and let's see if this market equates the the sum spent on building this. Maybe then, it would make sense to me. We need to stop building for the now and start building for the future. That's what places like Dubai did that turned what use to be a dessert into one of the worlds top tourism destination today. Stop thinking small. This debate here is not about tribe, political party affiliation or any other such petty nonsense, this is strictly about our collective greater good. |

Garri the 1st: nigeria is poor because of its poor mentality. I put forward a solution. Even this market is definitely gonna be above the reach of the average pepper seller. They don't have to buy these shops out, how about financing, how about long term mortgages. Lagos is building a light rail train transport system to decongest traffic, some state governors are spending millions to purchase vehicles and flood their little available roads. Lets start thinking ahead of ourselves. I hate flying, so I drive to destinations that I can. When In Europe, I board fast trains. The FG is spending billions to build railroads for chuchu trains that most other advanced nations are fazing out. It's your dream to see Nigeria compete with the west in terms of infrastructure yet you celebrate this? How do you marrying the two. The time for progressive change is now, not tomorrow. That I am least affected does not count for jack squat. Whatsoever thing we fail to do today is work carried forward for the future generation. 1 Like |

Boy2boy: all I can do my brother is hope.. Hope that other Nigerians can have faith in this nation like I do. I hold a dual citizenship and yet chose Nigeria over my other country. This market irks me. I'm disappointed that my fellow Nigerians celebrate this bullshit. I drove on Owerri - Port harcourt road and saw Arab contractors building the road, Abagworo celebrates that road which is a dual carriage way, I weep for that road because it is below par in terms of quality. I hope to see steady electricity, good dual carriage roads with proper covered drainages and street lights, to see streets with proper street signs and half fences and trees, schools with white markers boards, wifi and e-libraries, e.t.c.. All I can do is hope. I'm not in government neither do I work for the government, but I have a voice, I can criticise them constructively.. I can share ideas that they can take and improve on. This market is rubbish, fit only for a third world country. Call me daft.. But this is my dream, this is my wish, this is my mission. The government just wasted our hard earned money again. You, I and our kids wiill pay for this rubbish in the not too distant future.. The pepper seller of today can be the pepper processors of tomorrow, just because they were hawking on the streets today does not mean they will be hawking tomorrow. Fashola is thinking of the future of Lagos, Akpabio is timing for the future of Akwa Ibom, Amaechi is thinking of the future of Rivers State, Abuja is already 10 years ahead of Lagos which is the second best city in Nigeria, Oyo syate governor is living in the past. I'm sorry, but maybe of this were built in a remote village of Oyo, by a local government chairman, then I would share the sentiments of others, but not in one of Nigerias top 5 major cities.. Laalamed: Okija juju is a critic. Pls ignore him. The market is star 3 market which is not bad. In the future govt would build star 5 market. 3 stars by your standards my friend.. In my book, that market gets a one star. By 2020, I hope to see us having general markets that have central air conditioning, central refrigeration units, and other world class amenities. |

wanderlust007: Dont u undastand simple english?... i think it was built in less than a year... wat they meant was that a market lyk dat has never been built in d last 30years... My brother.. We are both saying the same thing.. It took them 30 years to build a new market and they built the market to the same design spec as they would have if they had built it 30 years ago. That's what my post meant. It wasn't literal but figurative. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Mixed Reactions On Enugu's Kia Police Cars by Okijajuju: 5:18pm On Jun 07, 2013 |
Denn: Again, the V8 hilux engine thing was a mistake.. Sadly, I can't do more than this to prove it to you. I am a car enthusiast and should at least know this. On the debate regarding a V4 engine vs a V6 or V8 engine in a race, I think that should go without saying. That's why most vehicles that carry these V8 engines always carry very small body frames. E.g, Honda city, e.t.c. Before you call me a lair in capital letters , open this link and see where I stated it... https://www.nairaland.com/1315722/mixed-reactions-enugus-kia-police/1 Well, I guess my points can always be modified and enhanced further, but again, I don't think I am wrong about anything I stated earlier.. On the Ghana matter, the point there has nothing to do with size but efficiency. For their size, they seem to be doing okay security wise. It's rare to see a Ghana Police car in the same battered condition you see Nigerian Police Hiluxes and Prados. Infact, it's not an uncommon site to see a rotted Nigerian police hilux at junctions and round abouts. It all about proper training my guy. I know that every Nigerian police officer can move a car, but I can bet that very few know traffic rules. Less than 5% have attended a defensive driving course either. Ghana police somehow seem to low how to maintain and preserve their patrol vehicles way way better than the Nigerian police and this bothers me. The point here is simply we can't keep recycling bullshit. I case you have forgotten, these cars are bought with our money. Every year we give out brand new vehicles to the police, to civilians as taxis and government parastatals as official cars and in under 1 year, those cars have been wrecked beyond recognition. The following year, we buy more and give to these same people. I'm sorry, but that's a fo0lish mans way of doing things. It's obvious we have a problem that Sullivan didn't solve before putting more of our money into the same cesspit. Next Gvernor of Enugu might just decide to buy BMW 745is for the police, by then, I can bet that the number of functioning police rios wouldn't be up to 30% of the original quantity. We need to stop wastage... P.S:: I never said you said I said kias are not durable... it was just me pointing out that I left out that point from my earlier argument. 1 Like |

funnyx: Bros.. I have been to Ibadan, I even have pictures and I can honestly understand why this market would be such a big deal for you inhabitants of Ibadan. Una never see wetin real development is all about. I mean, you even called that canopy a 'mall'. I noticed that you guys are way way behind on everything in Nigeria. I don't hate Ibadan people, I'm only advocating that you guys start building for the future you want. Uyo was once like Ibadan until the present government came and pushed them 10 years ahead of where they were. Proper world class roads et al. I may not live in Ibadan, but I can project the demands of the people. But I'm not about satisfying the needs of the people for today, it's all about the future, and that's where your mind should be. The fact that there was an illegal market there previously does not make this canopy shed anymore appealing. If we must achieve the future we want to see, then we must start working towards that. First of all remove all thoughts of tribalism from this discussion and let's look at it objectively. You may be impressed, but I'm not. Someone in Abuja wouldn't be, someone in Lagos wouldn't be either. I'm sorry but the over meant could have done better.. If you can, bring us the budget for this crap and let's tackle it from there and see of this was not penny wise, pound foolish. 1 Like |

Delafruita: This money issue is old stale gist.. Fashola has proven that anything is possible. A good 30 - 50 year build, operate and transfer PPP agreement could have built a world class market there. Do we have to spell everything out for these fucktards we call Governors? A 30 year lease agreement can be reached with the traders where they pay a certain agreed amount everyday/week/month over a period to cover the costs of their shops. After all, after 3 months, even these shops would have to be paid for eventually. |

Nothing worthy of mention either, but just because the Igbo Governors are acting like fucktards does not make it alright for Ibadan people to celebrate mediocrity in 2013.
