The white man first destroyed our religion, then our traditions and then told is we were inferior and bought us for mirrors, salt and ceramic wares.. |

lorretta u: did you guy not read the part of the article where it says, the road was closed for construction and it was allowed for drivers to go against traffic temporarily?who in this country will say they haven't driven against traffic especially with all or most of our roads in half state of construction? i did read the story, but my dear if you live in Port Harcourt, you will be frustrated by these gov and big men with Mopol that conveniently drive against traffic and fuucck up the traffic situation even worse. In Lagos, I noticed that it rarely happens. Tis case is exceptional sha. |

Denn: Huh? What's this dude going on about? Nigeria can't afford to purchase Land Rovers as our official Police vehicles?! I case you have deleted these from your memory card, let me remind you; COJA: Nigeria purchased over 300 BMW 3 Series for that event... CHOGM: More BMW 5 series this time.. ALGON alone Purchased over 1000 Toyota Prados for the Police, and the list goes on. So trust me when I say we can purchase those Land Rovers if we choose to. Why is Nigeria purchasing a more durable, efficient and practical vehicle such as a Land Rover (which we have used in the past to great success) a day dream? |

Ochek: Na wah o! Did I say opening fire on the SUV is the right thing to do? Nna men! I said I was shocked! This is not the standard Nigerian police behaviour. The Nogerian Police I know would have started shooting immediately their phone rang. The Nigerian Police I know would have opened fire the moment they saw aggressive movement inside the car after surrounding it. And you tell me that they surrounded a vehicle, it's occupants opened fire from within the vehicle and the Nigerian Police didn't return fire and if they did didn't kill them.. Infact, the suspects were not even injured but are still alive and in jail.. hmmmmmmmmm.... Something is wrong with that story. |
Politics / Re: New Enugu Police-Car Got Smashed by Okijajuju: 11:38am On Jun 11, 2013 |
Policewoman: I agree with you and that is why i opted for the most basic option. Moreover, if there is a sort of agreement between our F.G and Rover to mass produce these cars, the costs will even be further reduced. The Indian police have been doing this with General Motors U.S, the makers of the Mahindra Legend Jeep. I too love you this Policewoman.. Don't make me have to commit an offence that would force you to arrest me o! A supply and maintenance agreement can be reached with Range Rover for the supply of these cars.. We are not asking for vehicles with spinning rims and T.Vs in the headrest. Land rovers are not bulletproof and neither are the KIAs nor any other Police vehicles around the world. However, there is no arguing the fact that the Land Rovers are more rugged, versatile, better value for money, don't depreciate as fast, stronger than the KIA and to top it up is an all terrain vehicle. There is no guarantee that the Land Rover wouldn't crash, but as I have been advocating, if these drivers had the right professional training in security driving courses, the risk of damage to these cars would be limited. The fact that Enugu State Government isn't responsible for buying cars for the Police is mute. Well if he isn't responsible, then he shouldn't have. |
Politics / Re: New Enugu Police-Car Got Smashed by Okijajuju: 10:01am On Jun 11, 2013 |
Policewoman: I will recommend the basic option landrover defender for use of the Police in Nigeria, instead of these toy cars. I recommended that as well on a previous thread on these kias.. Land Rover Defenders and Hilux SUVs.. All fitted with extended metal bumpers and fenders. And before being given to the Police, they should be trained in evasive driving, defensive driving and offensive driving.. |

Nuzo': Bros.. You sef read the OPs post. He simply showed a pic of a damaged Police vehicle. He didn't state what led to it. I went with the best guess of typical police carelessness. And all I said was that it was a normal sight. |

pickle_juice: If the story abt what happened is true, i don't get how 3 boys opened fire on police when they were surrounded and they are still alive. In america they would be in the hospital or dead. Naija police needs to go for shooting practice. The only excuse for not harming those boys would be if they surrendered The story shock me sha... The Nigerian Police I know, would have opened fire on that SUV immediately it started running from them. And to think that the criminals opened fire on the Nigerian Police and came out of that alive is shocking. |

Very good job arresting the killer cops, but again why drive against traffic? Death sentence for indiscipline is the fastest way to a saner Nigeria..In Rivers State, driving against traffic is legal as long as you have the police with you or you are driving a vehicle with green plates.. 1 Like |

teamman: As the other poster said, there is nothing wrong with your inverter. All you need to change are the batteries. You can change the batteries and add solar panels to the existing system you have on ground.where you source your batteries from is also important. Please dont buy another inverter. You dont need to buy a solar inverter once its confirmed that your inverter is pure sine wave. If you dont mind l can check the inverter system for you at no cost and under no obligation to purchase or buy anything from me. A system diagnosis can actually save you alot of money and stress. for security reasons if you need to check me out, respond. Hi, thanks for the offer. I'm currently working out of Lagos and my inverter system is in port-harcourt. Do you have an operation in Port-Harcourt? Let me know and we can maybe do business. |

ogb5: The inverter uses 15 batteries at the moment. I learnt I could double them and connect them in series /parallel.. Don't know the technicalities of it but understand what he was saying.. The present cost of inverter batteries in Nigeria is 50'k a piece.. Deep cycle batteries huh? What are they? D we have different types of batteries? I have no idea about these things. I guess I will set up a savings fund towards replacing the batteries... Is it also possible that the inverter isn't sending enough charge to the batteries? I noticed that the battery indicator charges rather fast and drains just as fast.. And also, between solar and electric source inverters, which is better and why? Right now on the very bad NEPA days, I charge the inverter with the generator and run it. When it drains, i just repeat the cycle. But with solar, if the battery drains at night, na till morning before I fit charge am again.. If you can give me the pros and consof both types of inverters, then I would be able to make a more informed decision on my next line of action. |
Investment / Re: Continue School Or Start A Business - Please Advice by Okijajuju: 5:56pm On Jun 10, 2013 |
OP.. The advice I'm about to give you still returns to you to decide.. 1. Go into business: This is a good idea that has worked for so many people. Owning a business of your own is always a beautiful thing. I'm still working on mine. Businesses grow slow when good and eventually become big with good management. However, before you go into business, you must have carried out proper research into that business. You must know the pros and cons of that business. Is never guaranteed that your first business will prosper. The most important thing in business isn't capital but good and trustworthy contacts. When you have all the bases covered, then you can venture in. Now the demerit of going into business the way you are planning which is through a bank loan secured on the assets left behind for you and your siblings by your late mother is; should the business fail, you would have lost everything leaving you with nothing and putting your sibling into serious problems. 2. Go to school; school has no guarantees that you will make money with our degree. However, it's always a present and viable option that nobody can take away from you. Once you have your degree, you have it for life. It opens you up to many opportunities including business. It broadens your horizon and puts more options at your feet. You can keep researching and building p your business plan whilst schooling. You really have oohing to lose with school. The time spent in school is time well invested especially if you can graduate with a good degree in a marketable field like engineering, law, business and economics amongst a few others. The choice still boils down to you. I wouldn't advice you take a loan on your only property to start a business that has no sure guarantee of success. Starting small and growing is always better. Starting small minimises your loss in case of failure. You are in what I call a Russian roullete type situation. The choice is yours. But if I must say pick one, I'll go with the latter. ] 1 Like |

ogb5: I have backed it up with a 15kva inverter.. Only problem is I bought the inverter second hand from a family friend who was relocating abroad.. The darn thing does not even last. Can't carry a single 1.5 horsepower AC and a single fridge for up to 1:30 mins before it runs flat. Now my next mission is to save up, sell this one off and replace it with a brand new solar powered 20kva inverter.. That should solidly cover all my electricity problem. Although I must confess sha, NEPA for my area dey para of late.. From 6pm in the evening till 10am in the morning, you barely suffer up to 3hrs of no light cumulative. 2 Likes |

Nna men! I shout na. So I settled for the 20 kva.. The motivation to buy the Generator was longevity. Now I know that over the next 4 - 6 years, I no go get any major headache with generator. Simply service it every 5000 hours and you will be fine. You fit run her for 48hours non stop and your mind no go cut say e go spoil from over working.. The only downside to big generators na the price of Diesel.. But thank God for Asari refineries Nig limited.. 1 Like |

I just purchased a 20kva Cummins gen last month for 1.6m (plus commisioning) for my main home. Will be purchasing another 5kva by July ending for my annex home. Save money and purchase a big diesel generator.. They last longer than fuel generators and require less servicing. 2 Likes |
