Culture / Africa And Arabic Language by okokhaerat(m): 10:16am On Sep 22, 2017 |
AFRICA AND ARABIC LANGUAGE Islam and Arabic language are interwoven (Siami). They entered Africa continent simultaneously; the same day, month and year. Muslim around the globe disseminated their religion wherever they found themselves, they call for prayer (Al-adhan) and also recite some Quranic verses either loudly or silently as the law permit and they also establish Quranic school wherever they found themselves. Muslims in former Sudan, including Nigeria or former Ghana (Bilahdi Tukruur) learnt this language from their visitors from Arabia peninsular, for instance they use Arabic alphabets to write their indigenous languages (Ahjahmi). There are several articles and write-up written in Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba, Nupe, Kanuri language to mention but few. Written in Arabic letters but pronounced with their own mothers tongue, transliteration. The history of Africa was documented in Arabic; they later translated it to English and other languages of the world. This act exist for hundreds of years which made some ethnic group in the North-eastern part of Nigeria to change completely to Arabic; such as Shua Arab. Later Britain, Portugal, France, and Spain, colonized Africa, from there they had started spreading their culture and language. As time goes on, many clashes started occurring between Arabic and English language. Many Nigerians could not read English letters, which eventually led Arabic language to be the second official language, from there Arabic language is written on many items such as money, universities logo, and some agencies and parastatals symbol. Today, we have in many states, tens of professors, dozens of ph.d holder, hundreds of M.A and hundreds of thousands of first degree holders of Islamic studies and Arabic language. Unfortunately, matters arose against Arabic language to maintain its position by few people. They wanted to change certainty to uncertainty, reality to unreality, existing for unseen. To attain rebellion against Arabic language, the rebellion came up with some measures; such as denying the right of registered student of Arabic by not taken the question papers to centre on several occasions. More so; they remove Arabic language from so many official documents. Fortunately, the study of Arabic language is like any other international languages which people show interest in studying it around the globe. Because it serves as humanitarian needs in all ramifications. In Lebanon and Syria Muslims and Christians population are about 50 / 50! In developed countries like Japan, China, Germany, Canada, Russia, Britain, and USA they had shown so much interest in studying Arabic (Orientalist; Mustashiriquun). In Nigeria huge number of Muslims show interest in mastering Arabic like their mother tongues. Nevertheless, few among the no-Muslim voluntarily studied Arabic partly or fully for reasons best known to them. Its obvious in many areas that every Muslim or non-Muslim use up to one hundred or more Arabic words consciously or unconsciously in their conversation. Many transactions are basically pure or partly Arabic! For instance business with middle east in term of banking. Oil and gas, tourism, war, sports, even religion or politics knowledge has no border. Tourism, sports, politics, and religion involve Arabic which makes them to have their Embassy and ambassador here and there. In late 70s, The head of state Olusegun Obasanjo (GCFR) sent a Christian as ambassador to Egypt, the man studied Arabic and he mastered the language. Today, we have dozens of Arabic professors in most states, Hundred of ph.d holders, Thousands of masters, Hundred of thousand graduates, millions undergraduate, hundred of million pupils and adults enrolling for Arabic studies in public and private schools in the country. Anyone who tries to put any other languages on top of Arabic or any form of down grading Arabic is an injustice, and socially unacceptable. Muslims learn other international language without any bias. When you understand other people language you will never be tricked; but people quarrel with what they don’t know!!!. The value of Arabic is unexplainable. When white men came (colonist) to Nigeria, they had recognized the literate ones among us, most especially those that understood Arabic language in a bid to conduct/or organize the Arabic test/or an interview for the people in Africa most especially Nigeria as a whole and they were appointed as judges. Arabic language shares boundary with all continent and oceans that is; it is a worldwide language. This message is from Salihu Muhammad Sadisu Makana Oloolu (ABUU JIHAAD) Member of Muslim Stakeholders Association (MSA) Kwara State. The Sun and the Moon are Made punctual, use them together for your transactions. 1439AH |

Crime / Plight Of Unilorites Living In Oke-odo by okokhaerat(m): 10:06pm On Feb 08, 2017 |
it is with utmost disappointment that I write on behalf of the thousands of students that stay in various hostels at oke-odo, mfm and sanrab axis of university road, ilorin.. The issue of robbery and burgling has become a daily activity. We are never safe, we even get robbed as early as 9pm in our various hostels. Funny thing is, I'm sure the school authority is aware of this new development, but somehow choose to ignore because their own children are not affected. If it happens that we students decide to solve our problem ourselves, the police force who isnt doing anything about it will show up and blame us for jungle justice. Well if every student can be like me, we would be our own security. I hope this gets to the right channel and something be done quick before things start getting interesting. #i am omo-ola |
