Yes it is usual. My Dad bears his family surname BUT we his children are using different surname instead of the family name like other children from his sibling and everyone is cool about it.

Long story. He was in the Uk when I met him 10 years ago. He was arrested by border agency for being an overstayer BUT after 2 years of legal battles, border agency admitted they got it wrong, that he had been granted a visa to stay for 3 years but they lost his passport and he'd never chased them for it. To get a new Nigerian passport, he had to get his sister to send his national id card from Nigeria and that gave the name we're married under. (Mystified how she got him a new ID card but says she paid officials and they gave it to her). So apart from the new ID card and the new passport, no other documents.

and regarding this, It is possible to get many things done here in proxy as we don't have a centralized database that prevents that. So IMO, I guess the sister got a new ID with a different surname for him and that's what he's been using.

So, don't read any meaning to the surname change BUT get him to tell you more why kept it away from you.

My brother, it's not a scam BUT hustle...

I met a woman last week here in ABuja she briefly explained to me, and I was like, in my work place, we are 150..can we get a Microfinance bank, she said yes...I asked how?...She said all we need to do is get upto 1,000 member and I will become the director.
I asked, what's her own microfinance bank name, and she replied; "I don't have a bank BUT I'm a coordinator",....In my mind, I was like WHAT!!! ....So, I will pay you 150k for 150 people to coordinate...

I later concluded in my mind that this is another MMM rebranded.

Although, the money in question is REAL and available at Development Bank of Nigeria, BUT NGO claiming to be financial institution to give out grants are fraudulent. In fact it's a loan

This Business is hard Nock here in Nigeria . You are going to be faced with simblocks , and credit Balance gone
Spent thousands of dollars , wasted time and got nothing back .
MTN Blocked 80 my simcards in one day, just after one day of use . I still have almost N120k credit trapped in those simcards

then you will have to face problem of Loading recharge cards one by one , Tried to buy Pins online, I ended up been scammed by 3 different people
claiming they are registered with NCC


My setup did not come cheap .. As of now the stress does not worth my time
so to all Ya Wonna Bees be prepared for sim blocks , recharge , plus possibility of crackdown by NSA or what they call them Including their Crony NCC

The thing is, you need full technical know-how to run gsm termination business in Nigeria and not what you have read online about how it works
