My earlier response did not show. I said I asked the question first. However the denominations you mentioned are all churches, since they claim to profess Christ. But why the continued dis integration. I am unbiased but a bit bothered by the perpetual branching. |
Enigma: @okpurukata |
I await an answer from Ukut. One female pastor near my house and her group breaks pure water satchets by 12 midnight at a t junction during their night vigils. They claim they are bible believing and as a catholic I don't know it. OPM in Port Harcourt has a programme called shoe blessing programme. They encourage people to collect sand from the alter and pour where they have problems. A friend told me how she collected the sand and poured in the land under contention by her husband and his brother. The husband's brother died shortly after wards. I told her to rejoice that she is now a killer. They also claim to be bible believing. So why the continued branching and different Methods. |
Enough digression and back to the topic. Why are there too many church denominations, competing and preaching different doctrines. If these catholic haters says they do not agree with the catholic church, fine. Why do they keep dis integrating. Is it that the same bible they claim that the Catholics don't know is further causing them confusion? I was just counting the number of Pentecostal churches on my street, almost 30 in number. Some of their pastors are even taking the selves to the police for one issue or the other bothering on competition. I wish one of these 'Bible Knowing Christians' can answer. Italo please keep off. |
This is my contribution to this tread. I wish to extend my heart felt gratitude to Italo and Ubenedictus and other catholic faithfuls on Nairaland. You have been an inspiration to me. I have learned so much and I can stand and defend my faith even more based on all I have read and learned. It is clear that Catholics are the most mis understood Christian sect. There is also a lot of envy and jealousy for the catholic church and it's structures by some other Christians. However, we will continue to march stronger. Let us pray for our priests and the religious. Let us also strive to begin to assist in the work of evangelism. We should not fail to use any available opportunity to tell other about our faith. God Loves us and will continue to Bless and keep us and His church. Meanwhile I am just watching a re broadcast of the Pope's mass at St Peters on EWTN, now. It's awesome. I enjoin others who have access to watch too. |
There are many fruits of frustration, and this is one of them. No more comments |
calculusx: Where exactly is Lourdes? I'm travelling to Rome soon and wouldn't mind adding it to my itinerary.Like you were told earlier, Lourdes is in France. If you are going as a group, then Lourdes will be part of the itinery. But if it's not, just make contact with catholic secretariat in Lagos, they will assist you. However, since you have a schengen visa, just book a flight from Rome to Toulouse in France, I think that the closest airport to Lourdes. Wish you all the best and do not forget to tell us your experience when you come back. A tip of the experience is, you will see a large gathering of people from all over the world, having candle light rosary processions every evening. daily. Its amazing. Then fountain of miraculous water is channeled from various taps, just drink. and finally the baths. They are well organized by professionals who guide you to say your intentions, and pray while taking a dip. Do not worry about shame. You will be covered and guided and no one will see ur unclothedness. Lots of Healings have been recorded at Lourdes. Then do not forget to go for meditations at the grotto, and stations of the cross on the hill. Cheerios |
Sagamite: And when they report why can't the person make sure he ensures it never happens again so that they can report more or don't even have anything to report? You are just a sadist. Smh |
Donalð Genes: Airport Road(precisely Rupokwu axis and New Road, and Abuloma ROad, Off Trans AmadiYou are actually enjoying the line that goes to the airport, which only those living along the road are connected to. Just like those living along Uniport road. Do not equate power supply there to the whole PH |
emmymdk: Abeg,is Rumuagholu in Portharcourt? Because we no dey see 24/7 light here... Wetin we day see na 3hrs light in 3days. So OP try to specify the specific place in PH that enjoys the so called 24/7 light and don't generalize it,thereby miss informing the world...I also live at Rumughalu and must confess that light has improved in the last three weeks. However it now comes in the night about 10pm and goes off before 6am. This is an improvement from the previous months of total black out where we see light 2hrs in a month. I heard the sub station built behind Rumuagholu near the new international market is now supplying us light. |
My testimony is lie this. I went for the Catholic pilgrimage to Fatima and Lourdes in 2011. Earlier 2010 I had a spinal surgery and cannot stand for too long or even walk too long. However, at Fatima, I joined the Fatima pennance prayers. This consists of praying the rosary while moving on your knees and covering a distance (not too sure the length). It takes close to 2hrs and about 20 decades of the rosary which is to be prayed slowly. I joyfully concluded this penance and prayers without even any pain. At Lourdes, I had a complete bath at the water of Lourdes and completed the rigorous stations of the cross which transverses through hills. I tell you all, I was as strong as ever. I came back renewed and till date my spinal pains have reduced to a bare minimum. The greatest miracle of all is that there were very old women and men in our group, some were up to 74yrs, and none of them was weak, or sick all through the journey. Glory to Jesus, Honour to Mary. |
I wish Rivers state can follow suit. Here churches share fence with residences and hold night vigil even on week days.mthe noise is so unbearable. What I ask at times is, Is God deaf that people have to scream at the top of their voices to preach or pray. It's all hypocrisy. I have worshipped in Churces in Europe and America. All of them were sound proof. Most of today's churches do not show love for neighbors at all. |
I strongly feel the pains of the op. I pray God will provide a better job for you.mas for Access Bank, the management should realize that if the tears and pain of its employees continually get to heaven, there will surely be a heavenly reaction one day. They should just watch it. I have seen what happenned to some of my most difficult bosses, who enslave in the name of capitalism as compared to some others who have a human face. Human beings should and must be treated as human. |
Thank God for Fidelity Bank. This bank provides Medicare for both tellers and drivers, their wives and children even as contract staff, though to a certain cut off limit. Bonus is paid to everyone including drivers and even security. It is truly a great place to work. |
shortgun: God can work in many ways using many things.Using your analogy, it is then right to tell people to bring seven goats, white chicken and chalk, etc. then what differentiates us from pagans. I met a girl at a hair dressing saloon sometime last year and she narrated her ordeal. Said they went to one church, some where in PH, the lady pastor recommends everyone to bring 4 tins of milk before she ministers to him/her. She said the pastor even goes to the extent of selecting the brand of milk submitted by members, so you also say God can work using many things. Let us be careful in using the name of God and His son Jesus in promoting occultism. My observation is that most Dibias and Mami water worshippers have transformed to pastors today. You hardly see their shrines again, but they head churches. Only last Sunday another lady looking for the fruit of the wob told me her experience at a church. There, ladies are commanded to remove their clothes and jump naked because the spirit of God was descending on them. This lady said she felt so ashamed when she saw matured married women remove their tops and dance and jump while their breast are exposed. Some falls under this so called anointing and their unclothedness is exposed. She said she quietly looked closer at the alter and saw knives and some other items under neath. We need to expose these frauds. |
There is this pentecostal church just beside my house. It is owned by a lady and they call her mama sharp sharp. I noticed that for the past three months in a row they have been carrying out a certain ritual during their monthly night vigils. Every member comes to church with a satchet of pure water, they then hold it and mutter certain words to it, then all members troop to the t - junction by our street and break their water satchets there. In the morning after every vigil, there is always a mound of water satchets at the junction. Me and other residents are getting slightly worried, who can explain this ritual? It seems so diabolical to me and also very unchristian. |

Good evening all. I have observed that a lot of Christians and Muslims go for pilgrimages to various holy sites all over the world and little is heard of their experiences especially coming from the pilgrims themselves. What have been your experience, did you get a spiritual boost, increase in knowledge, or was it just site seeing. Let's share. Personally in 2011, I joined the group of pilgrims who went to some holy sites in Europe. It was organized by the catholic secretariat. Our first point of vist was Fatima, then Lourdes, Spain and we concluded with Rome, where special prayers was made by the Pope for all pilgrims, their families and countries. It was awesome. The high point for me was at Lourdes. Before the journey I had a major spinal surgery one year earlier and as a result I do not lift heavy objects and cannot walk long distances, nor stand for long. However as a group we had daily mass and prayed our rosary. About 15 Rev Frs were in our group so, it was like daily prayers bible study and meditations. At Lourdes, in France, there is a spring which legend has it that started flowing when the virgin Mary appeared to St Bernadette. That spring has healing properties. I actually took a bath in that spring. The miracle is that through out that tedious journey through hills, long processions and prayers, I felt no pain. I was strong all through. Some women of over 70yrs in our group were also very strong and active, no one took even Panadol. Mind you it was cold on Oct. At St Peters the gathering of people of all races and colours was amazing and we sang and prayed in one accord. Pope Benedict greeted all in a language we understood. It was a truly soul lifting exercise. |
Flee from this husband snAtcher with all ur might |
Pribo: Pls the media shud not be seen as a ready tool in the hands of political jobers. Amaechi has earlier in the day thru his COS opened a parallel PDP office on Forces Avenue about three streets away from the Govt House back gate. The Police had stopped that lawlessness and had sealed off the office (which was Amaechi's former campaign office) and the adjoining streets. This is the only truth of the whole matter. The Governor usually uses the making gate into the govt house, which is on Azikiwe road. Why must it be today that there was fracas near that back gate, that he must pass through with the same team of his new PDP? Why look for trouble with open eyes. The streets around that back gate was blocked following the fracas earlier in the day. The governor is simply not above the law. He is just seeking sympathy. Not mine though. |
ayusco85: A̶̲̥̅♏ sick and tired of this ignorant nigerians from the south, East, and south south always accusing the north of spending over 35yrs in power. The military regime is not counted as an official tenure of democratic rule. What happened durin the military era got wiped and reset when nigeria embraced democracy. So pls start counting from 1999. *dumb nitwits*Are you saying that while writing the history of this country, we should delete the names of your dim witted rulers who spent 35yrs on power. |
What money can do. Na waoooo. So even Jakes can fall under the anointing of Dollars too. Tyler whose films are sexy and has no godly bearing. Am dumb founded |
leorayvon: Which soldiers crucified jesus ? When daniel was describing the image that the king of babylon saw in his dream daniel 2 vs 38-40. What did u understand by that.High level illiteracy. Under whose revelations and unctions do you insert those nations names. Do not bring Gods anger on ur self for mis interpreting the bible. |
This was how we lost a colleague at the office. She has been taking her Anti retroviral drugs for years until she met this new pastor who told her she should drop the drugs and be healed. She was told it was a satanic attack from her uncle in the village. She complied faithfully and died shortly after wards. The wicked pastor who was meanwhile milking her dry was blamed by the entire family. |
Marketing gimmicks!!!!!!!! APC is strongly wooing this breakaway group. Sorry part two of the story is their out right break away and registration of PDM. Shame on Amaechi and Atiku. GEJ all the way. Ara ga agba ndi ara nwannem |
If they were bold enough, why did they not just go ahead to register their new party instead of new PDP |
The Vatican city itself used to be a place where the then Roman emperors crucified Christians. It was basically an old burial ground even before Christ. So findings of this type are bound to be made. I infact believe that archeologists will discover quite a lot about ancient Rome when they dig more. Make your research before you shout idolatry. my people perish for lack of knowledge. |
Another Reverend King in the making. Watch out for more stories of floggings that may be going on there. |
Congratulations to Chief Willie Obiano, the Akpokuo Dike 1 of Aguleri. He is my immediate past Executive Director. One of the few men who have survived banking in Nigeria and worked without dents until retirement having reached his Zenith. I have no doubts that this man will take Anambra to very great heights. His achievements in Fidelity Bank speaks for him. I urge Anambrarians to support technocrats to lead them to greater heights. Forget about these known robbers who will only steal your state blind. OBIANO ALL THE WAY. |
If he did, it's very wrong. |
Thank you very much for this |
