fibonacci2526: Can you recommend a good phone from a top notch stable that comes with a 4.5 or 5.0 screen? It must be 4g compliant, 2 sims, and at least 2gb/32. It must be brand new and within 30 - 40k budget. Thanks in anticipation of your response. |

A little more so may have to settle for a used iPhone 6......which I would rather not consider as I am very averse to used phones no matter the tag it comes under; Naija used, UK used, Craigslist, UK used and what have you! |

RedPanthar: You could as well reveal what happens in Alaba right here. But bring Alaba in to this appears to be an apples and oranges comparison. My position remains; I am positive that whatever was formally agreed upon with the employees at the time of engagement would be paid to the very letter. Again,I challenge you to bring to the public domain through this medium any aggrieved retiree who has legitimate claims that have not been settled. |

PatriotExact: It's very sad that you can reason like this in 2021. But I am willing to give you the benefit of doubt as you may not have visited the university or directly experienced its products. I am neither a stakeholder of the university nor the church. I have however been to the university and listened/read several interviews granted by the Chancellor. Furthermore I have been involved in corporate recruiting for several years and I can tell you that products of Covenant and Babcock in the early years always managed to clinch any available spot. Personally, I have also had the privilege of employing a few Covenant graduates (I think they refer to themselves as Eagles) and would like to state here categorically that they had difficulty in proving their worth in very little time. While this may not be the case with all their graduates but I can tell you that majority of the graduands will be more employable than our regular public school products. And my prayer for you is that you never find yourself working as a HR personnel saddled with the responsibility of recruiting fresh graduates. You could develop high blood pressure in just a few months. You truly have no idea of how bad the situation is. 4 Likes |

RedPanthar: I beg to differ here. I may not be a fan of Oyedepo or indeed any Religious leader but we should pay compliments where necessary. This man has contributed to the redefinition of tertiary education in Nigeria. You may have your reservations about his person, his policies (by the way, I totally abhor his discipline style for Covenant university)but this should not detract from the issue in question here. Covenant has provided top class education for many Nigerians and thus enriched the quality of graduands in the labour market. They have created an unrivalled research fund and deploy it objectively. They have top notch Academic staff earning the same salaries as their counterparts in public universities. The entire university environment/setting is reminiscent of a typical academic environment. Regarded the bolded above, Oyedepo owes the retirees nothing in so far as he was paying them salaries as agreed when the staff were hired. If there was a promise of retirement benefits and he reneged please bring it up officially and I am sure he will rise to the occasion. Again, I am not holding brief for Oyedepo, but would rather adopt an objective stance on the matter. 6 Likes 1 Share |

realdickoflife: To further educate us, you may wish to quote the relevant portions of the statutes that make the asking of this question relevant. Living and perhaps having worked in the US does not necessarily mean that this question has never been asked by any potential employer. You may be interested to know that the employer I am referring to has roots in the US and this interview took place right there. Another Swiss company with multinational operations has also used this tactic previously for a hiring process involving yours truly and other applicants of diverse nationalities. And this was in Geneva. I do not wish to argue about the proprietary or otherwise of this approach as I do not see anything legally wrong with the question. Again as stated previously the employer retains the privilege of asking you certain questions within the limit of the law while you reserve the unalienable right to ignore the question (and/or of course sue as Americans are often won't to do). Whichever option you choose will naturally be dependent on a lot of other variables. This will be my last post on this matter as there is no trophy in sight for either of us whichever way the cookie crumbles. Good day Sir. |

realdickoflife: Entirely your opinion and that of your teachers. When you say the prospective employer has no right to ask you for your previous earnings, I wonder good arrived at that. They do have a right to ask you any question that will enable them objectively appraise your suitability for the role just as you reserve the right to deny them an honest response. This question has been asked not only in Nigeria but even by interviewers in very developed countries. Again, I maintain that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the question. You of course reserve the right to ignore the question or walk out of the interview. |

9jamum: You said it right with the bolded. It's all about the joy of the mother. Shouldn't it be what is in the best interest of the child? What's the hurry about anyway? 8 years for secondary school is certainly overdoing it. Drop your ego and you will see clearly that no child should in Secondary School by age 8 and the best time to get into university is between 16 and 18. At that point the child is more mature and discerning. Just my opinion though. By the way I am also blessed with a super smart daughter too and I have resisted the pressure for her to move faster than her peers. She is in primary 4 now and will do Primary 6 no matter the pressure the mother mounts on us. Her older brothers also passed through the same processes d no regrets so far. Best wishes to your smart Princess. 1 Like |

Many interesting positions here...but most of them just opinions based on personal experiences...which in itself is not bad. It is however rather sad and very limiting when you try to categorize a company based on questions asked at an interview. It is far from true that only small and unstable companies ask for your previous salary/pay slip. Even very large corporations ask this question depending on the circumstances of the interview. The bolded is very important. A number of reasons could necessitate this question and I will list a few here; Apparently, the most important reason this question comes up is usually because the company probably doesn't yet have a personnel emolument structure in place so they use your previous earnings to determine where to place you without underpaying you. Sometimes, a company already has an idea of what you are currently earning especially if you are in the same industry. You then come and lie and thus make a fool of yourself. This is considered an integrity issue and could cost you the opportunity. It is for this reason that you are asked to bring your payslip to back up your claim. Many large corporations who prefer to headhunt high and middle level management staff ask this question all the time. Typically, this question usually comes at the tail end when you have been narrowed down as the preferred candidate. Several years ago, I was interviewed for a position in one of the largest multinational conglomerates operating in Nigeria. One of the reasons I wasn't considered was because I hadn't previously earned close enough to what they had in mind. For them this meant that I wasn't as good as my interview process revealed. I am sure sometimes you see some vacancy ads stating clearly that interested applicants who had never earned a specific amount should not bother applying. Finally, one of the easiest ways to unveil dishonesty is especially among Nigerian applicants is to ask how much they earned last. Most candidates lie. It so for this reason that they are asked to present evidence of their claim. Recently I interviewed some candidates for a major food processing company. The interview held on different days. And we had 6 candidates applying for the same role (Quality Control) coming from the same company. 4 of them have very conflicting claims regarding their current earnings. The two ladies gave the same figures. When asked to back up their positions with payslips as evidence, the two ladies just forwarded their payslips right away from their email accounts. They were hired on the spot.....and for almost double of what they were earning. The other 4 (all males) asked for time and brought back badly cooked up payslips. You are not yet hired and you are already lying your head off. There is no big deal about revealing your current pay. All you need to do is decide what you will take and insist on what you consider is your worth taking into consideration the value you intend to bring to the table. There is no law preventing you from moving geometrically in your earnings. People can move from 100k to 3 Mill per month. I have seen that happen several times. Whatever you do, AVOID LIES whether it has to do with previous salaries, entitlements, responsibilities held and accomplishments. It could be your very undoing. Professional HR big wigs are usually smarter than you think. Best wishes. 1 Like |

Sleekyzee99: This model of business can work anywhere. I was however limiting it to Lagos because I have done it in Lagos in person and can guide him very effectively. I am not very conversant with Abuja but I believe the same model can be replicated successfully in the high density outskirts where the masses reside. It could also work very well in Abuja metropolis of you have a car. It'not something new or special. It has been in existence since the post trade and barter era. Summarily, you are welcome to try it out in Abuja or anywhere else. Good luck. |

Light78: First of all, it's not as bad as you think it is. You need to first of all shift your focus. I could guide you remotely into how you could actually start out making small monies but you would have to commit fully. In your very first week, you could make at least 5k. And then gradually grow it to 10k a week. However you have to live in a densely populated are within Lagos. Of course you will be selling something but only very fast moving products. Yes! I know you don't have capital, but that is not a problem if you can prove your sincerity and honesty in the long term. I could guarantee credit for you where I have a good relationship provided you won't go and spoil my integrity built over several years. Pls this is no fast lane to the top. It is a slow growth plan that will require long term perspective, focus and an unrivaled commitment to set goals and objectives. DM me if you are willing to take his path. CAVEAT! By the way, this is a free mission I am undertaking, no money for me and no possibility of a physical meeting. Just remote guidance via email or WhatsApp only. |

So many theories about this matter. Most of them unfounded. Some of them plausible, some of them outeight stupid and chauvinistic. There are 4 sides to this story; Tunde's side (which sadly we may never know). Moyo's side which I am positive she may not be willing to share in absolute sincerity. Nuri's side which will most definitely be tainted by corporate and survival coloration. Then of course the truth which ultimately will be unraveled. There is so much that meets the discerning eyes here and despite the varied conspiracies the different angles lead to different destinations. There is the moral perspective and then of course the legal angle. Finally, as a man makes his bed so he lies on it. Use the inherent lessons to modify your own circumstances. Tunde has lived his life to the best of his ability. He failed to tell us what went wrong and how, even though he had more than three years to do just that. His family also didn't cry out all these years. We don't have his medical history. All we are doing is conjecturing as regards the link of his medical condition to his psychological turmoil....that is if there was anything like that at all. So many things could have led to Tunde's death; Supposing he found out that the newly conceived child wasn't also his own? Supposing Nuru was going to take him up legally because of attempted blackmail or threat to life. Just supposing there was an accord between trio and the proceeds were seized and transferred abroad without his consent and he was left without any compensation for his effort of several years. Let's cool down a bit. Let's not be too excitable. These things happen and will continue to happen for as long as there are men and women on earth. Wishing Tunde and indeed all of us journey mercies as we traverse the universe in different forms. 3 Likes 1 Share |
