Solatium:The hospital won't do that. It will give them very negative publicity because it will throw the entire process, fees, competence and reliability of the business into the limelight. This could also unveil a number of previous unwholesome incidents successfully swept beneath the carpet. But I think she would have spent that much because mentioning this in a carefully thought out and typed post means she has mentally projected her expectations which could include a rebuttal from the hospital or even her immediate staffers. I must however express my disdain for the publicity stunt underlying the statement. It is very distasteful, self seeking, poorly timed and very immature. But then.....any thing for the gram. |
Solatium:At the first bolded...very true we didn't see his contract (if there was anything like that). You will be amazed at the numbers of employees engaged without a contract in this country. Regarding the second bolded, the argument could swing either way. She could have been in deep grief and was lamenting on how the money could have been useful otherwise. She could also have deliberately tried to pull some attention to her benevolence. But really, it doesn't matter at all. In due course events will unfold showing clearly if she was actually as loving and grief stricken as she claims. Remember that there are other staff who have heard/read this post of hers and will give us a clear picture soon. No need therefore to argue about the veracity of her claim and of course the underlying altruism or lack thereof. |
Solatium:Get real Sir. Entitlements is a very relative concept in this clime. In the bourgeoning informal sector many people can only lay claim to their monthly salary as per the contract spelt out in the appointment letter. As a matter of fact, many appointment letters are very terse and only indicate the resumption date and monthly salary. Other matters are open to conjecture. |
HenryDion:As cold as this may sound this is the reality of the situation in all objectivity. |
Uche2230:Are these still available? I would like to buy a few. |
davolas:How much? And where is your location. |
wanney:Too close to call Sir.
|
descarado:Don't worry, just wait for his further response and you will have a clear picture of his true character trait. Our individulal qualities can never be truly hidden even when we are on anonymous platform. |
Goldiness:Very immodest statement here. I think in order to understand the real problem here you need to procure a full length mirror. It will deal with this matter once and for all. |
Tokskob2008:A call came in while your superior was making an address, briefing the staff or having a meeting? Your phone was not switched off and it wasn't in silent mode? You then probably picked the call and of course didn't excuse yourself from the meeting because it was your dear mother calling you.......for something that couldn't wait for a few minutes that the meeting would last. |
Moferere:This may not necessarily be factual based on information available to me at the moment. It appears the Federal Govt has the largest earning capacity for VAT based on import taxes and multi branch corporate operations. The entire VAT earnings and dispensation milieu is a outdated and needs to be infused with new ideas that best reflects present day realities with a view to encouraging an increase in IGR. |
sharaff6:I suggest that you don't go to bedmate but invest in our local economy. There are several furniture makers who can replicate whatever you want at half the price of what you get from these Chinese owned companies. Understandably, there are risks involved bit trust me there are many good ones who can deliver even beyond expectations. |
081087n:I don't completely agree with you as regards the bolded. As bad as Alaba International is, I assure you that every minute people are still getting good deals there. Many traders located in that same market are benefitting from their investment in honesty, goodwill and integrity over the years. I am not a fan of used electronic items but in the event I wish to settle for a large screen smart TV I am committed to patronising one of the few Nairalanders who seem to have no blemish in their records like Alabaconnect, Alabaonline, GraceandGlory etc. I am of the opinion that you can't go wrong with these guys. They would be putting their hard earned integrity at stake.....and it wouldn't be worth it ultimately. |
Supermarket supplies business. Little capital, regular (daily) returns. Thank me later. |
missimelda01:Pictures and location pls. |
toscolee:I might just be able to help you get an interview opportunity next week and possibly a reasonable job by September. No promises please but rest assured that I will give it my best shot. Quote me on a dead thread with the following information; 1. Location of residence within Lagos. 2. Number of years of experience 3. Highest Qualification obtained. 4. Minimum salary expectations. |
toscolee:Which area are you interested in? Perhaps I could be of help. |
Bbinc:I don't know if she would like that.....but we can sort it out. The best thing would be for you to simulate a chance meeting with her and then take it from there. There is the off-chance that she would be more interested in selling her wares to you rather than guide you if she knows you come from me. Let me give it some thought. Quote me on a dead thread and I will see how I can be of help within the coming week. |
christ007:She really doesn't need a shop to start out with egg supplies. She can start out in her residence. With that kind of money, I suggest that she sells eggs and other core consumables right there in her neighbourhood. Bread for instance is a cash cow and you can never go wrong there. |
Ibebox:Where is your location? Where your lies your interest...online or offline? Why not start something with a small percentage of that cash, watch the business, learn the ropes and grow it from there. |
yolo28:Which part of town is your (8 - 5) office in Lagos? Is it a very densely populated area during working hours? Do you have a car? Can you afford to employ a driver? You don't need to invest 1million all at once. Start with 200k and grow it to 1Million. Returns are low but steady with minimal risk exposure. |
daddytime:If well managed distribution is the best business model for any risk averse investor in a an economy that is already hurtling downwards. It's even better of you are dealing with consumables. There is however a new and improved model of distribution that pays even better than the model used by our forebears. Seek it out, adopt it and enjoy at least 20% net returns weekly. It's a lot of work though but the returns are irrevocably guaranteed. |
Bbinc:The default business for most Nigerians living in Germany is trade in Used items. I must say that this is not a bad investment if you are the slow, steady and risk averse investor. For medium term purposes you could consider specialization where all you need to do is concentrate on specific products that you would be identified with over time. I've had the privilege of advising a few people along this path and it has worked wonderfully well. Please note that there are also embedded challenges in the business. You could ship used tyres and other car components from Germany regularly (these are prohibited items but there are ways and you could be guided...a willing Nigerian lady could act as your guide. She lives in Koln). You could aggregate and then ship crockery and cutlery in large volume. A great market exists for this particular product. I've done this personally before. A large restaurant sold me their entire used items inventory. A popular restaurant in Stuttgart (two outlets; Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof and one at Marienplatz). Wonderful business. The above are a few examples. Several more exist.....but ultimately, your sales and marketing strategy for these items must be different from the what other run-of-the-mill traders are doing. Desist from offloading in Odioluwo or any other warehouse for that matter and selling off for peanuts. Visit Karlsruhe, there is usually a used trade fair in their messe. It's tagged 'Resale'. You could be pleasantly surprised. May I also added here that your best eye-opener is your attendance of the varied and many fairs that hold in that country. Ultimately, your sojourn in Germany should lead you in the direction of something really big like a franchise or a licence for production here in Nigeria. Check out the big brands. I have been working on a few for some years now but my progress suffered a huge setback with the pandemic. We are however back on course. Finally, no matter what, take the first step, lose money if you must but learn the attendant lessons and keep your focus on the goal. Good luck. |
IWillRiseAgain:I really don't think you can invest 350k and start making a daily profit of 10k. For an existing business this could hold true. Those women and these days men too whom you see driving around delivering eggs and diapers etc. make this kind of profit on a daily basis. They however had to build a good client base over time to ensure that the earnings are consistent. But on the whole, 10k daily is practicable but the price for this must be paid upfront. |
404Dev:This may not necessarily be true. Do your research properly before posting in a public forum such as this. The replicas name are very identical to the original name but not the same |
Actually, there are three sides to a story; The side told by the Complainant, the side offered as a defence by the defendants And of course...... The actual story or the truth. |
aboyaji:Oga, clearance doesn't mean that people should lowball every product advertised here. Give some credit to the quality of some of the products. While it is true that clearance prices is the attraction to this thread in the first place but you will also admit that the buyers are quite discerning too. There should be some form of balance. We should stop taking advantage of people in distress....that is my point. Now about supporting Uniquewise, it's entirely your opinion. I don't know the Madam but I will still give her credit for the quality of stuff she brings here. Yes, indeed her prices can sometimes be outrageous but when pitted against the quality it most times matches out. Finally, there is no coercion here. If you like the product, you call negotiate and buy. If you don't like it, you just move on....simple. |
Perhaps we need to reappraise concept of 'clearance' and furthermore look at it in the context of this thread while at the same time trying to establish the socio-economic;underpinnings of most posters here. Clearance means different things to different people. A yard sale must be distinguished from a flea market sale. Different Nairalanders visit the clearance sales thread with different motives. Lets examine some of the more apparent categories here. The first are those who swear that the clearance thread is a distressed sales portal. They seek the most cut throat bargains here. In their understanding sellers are in some form of distress and would sell at the most ridiculous prices.....afterall they are in distress and probably under intense duress. A second set are the charity seekers who want the relocating crowd to as much as dash out their stuff or at best selling at just a price that can be considered symbolic. A third set are the bargain hunters. Unfortunately, I fall in this category. I seek out really good deals that may not be very obvious to the untrained eye and I buy them, recondition (where necessary) and then resell for a considerable profit. Pls note that where I chose to sell is my exclusive prerogative. We in this category have an eye for the more exclusive offers and I can tell you that most of the deals that Uniquewise offers here are not really expensive. It's a matter of discernment. I've seen her advertise some really good stuff here.....and I mean really superior stuff. Some of us here quite frankly wouldn't know what to do with those stuff. What would a Nairalander living in a modest 3 bedrooms want with a Viking brand Hamlyn crafted 1977 Chandelier? Does he/she for instance care whether the crockery he uses to cook his food is of aluminium or stainless steel? What about using royal trim cutlery? Pls also note that there are furniture and there are furniture. I learnt so much about contemporary Television today......even if I only got more confused at the end until a Nairalander asked a very pertinent question that summarised everything. Let's all enjoy this thread. Identify what is within reason, call and negotiate with seller and where necessary draw the attention of members to the exxagerated rate as advertised. |
Olumaeme:It's a generational problem. Social media is the name of this generation. If you doubt me, ask a prolific and experienced HR manager. |
Obasempiree:And to think that I even considered you intelligent. You read his comment and this is what you have to spew. You are in search of lever that will catapult you to the next level, you come here stating your circumstances, an observation (already made by other posters)is made about something as serious as written expression and all you do is go ballistic. You don't know the guy , you don't know his role in your life, and you don't even know who else is reading. And see your very arrogant response to his submission. It may interest you to know that several people have gotten jobs right here on Nairaland just because of how they expressed themselves in their posts. Nairaland is not so anonymous afterall. You leave a very tangible trail as you make your posts. You may wish to apologise to that poster and assume a humble stance going forward. |
Simplest approach with minimal risk is to start a fast moving consumer goods business. After a gestation period of 3 - 6 months you will be making at least 5% of your investment on a weekly basis...and this is a most conservative projection. You are in Abeokuta. Buy a mini-van (container back). Buy one small car, something cheap and functional, preferably a station wagon. If you can buy two the better...or perhaps one car and one tricycle. The van brings selected high in demand goods from Lagos regularly. Your trained staff use the the small cars and service your local customers who would consist of small and medium scale supermarkets, large neighbourhood pop and mom stores. Start with weekly supplies and then grow it to a daily affair. Trust me, you cannot go wrong with this. It's slow with minimal margins but trust me the turnover will make it worth your while....provided you are discerning enough in your choice of products. |
I remember a long time ago after University, and as i finished my nysc, I got a teaching job from a small budding primary school, that the school owner was just doing her NCE at a college of Education, oh God this woman was always intimidated by me, I don't know why she is always on my case, always watching me and following my everystep, she never wanted me to rest simply because I was higher than her education wise. I never bordered that she saw me as a competition in her school, I couldn't take it anymore, because it affected my emotional well being and psychology, made me have unnecessary heart attack,if she had her chance to reduce my salary, she will do it, I was not always myself, I couldn't be very productive in what I do, I couldn't just be free to teach from my heart because I felt as if I was not doing my best, someone somewhere was not happy with me. Until I saw the way her children looked at me with disgust, like I have committed a big offense, and I saw the way they treated me, like I am nothing, is it the gossip behind my back, like I was not up to anything, simply because they own there house and school building together, as if they were Demi gods, I just had to leave the job and find another one which I got, and there I was appreciated, with a higher salary, although both were offering little salaries.
