PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 6:42am On Jan 22, 2012
@Kingoflag, Human beings commit crime all the time regardless of their religion, what we are talking about is people killing for their religion. Don`t get it twisted. The christian countries of the western World is where all the muslims get so much love and affection not the Islamic countries. Black African Muslims get treated better in these countries than they do in Arab Islamic ones. Ask a Somalian or a Pakistani  where they would rather be when poor, must would choose Western christian countries because they are shown more love and treated with dignity, unlike their rich Arab brothers that treat them like slaves. Do a little research on how Pakistani workers are treated in the rich Gulf states.

I am no christian because I see it as the slave masters religion, but if I have to choose between the two, I would choose the one that as shown me and many others like me lots and lots of love. Islama bad.

I hope Yoruba people will keep on leaving Islam in droves as they are already doing.
PoliticsRe: Sada Idris & Co To Audit NNPC. Check Out Their Website! by okunoba(m): 6:20am On Jan 22, 2012
@Beaf, As much as I think u mean well for Nigeria and want Goodluck to do well , I think there are times when u have to admit faults with the way Goodluck is performing. Who is without fault? We are all fallible.

I think in a profession that demands attention to detail, u have to admit the website clearly did not exhibit such trait, it was full of errors. Why did the top men not check the website design before it was launched?  The company is not thorough, the web site should have been screened to make sure everything was done properly.  I believe Jonathan means well, but sadly he is surrounded by bad eggs.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 1:41am On Jan 22, 2012
@Ndu Chucks, I believe when it comes to your religion, which is obviously Islam, but you too ashamed to admit it, you are always  practicing  taqiyya. With all the killings in the World because of Islamist claiming to be fighting for Allah, u still denying that they are muslims.

Ifa is civilized because it doesn`t preach superiority nor does it suppress other thought process unlike Islam the religion of piece.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 9:02pm On Jan 21, 2012
@Ndu Chuks, U call Ifa worshippers uncivilized and I simply ask u to respect other peoples beliefs as long as they are not hurting anyone. where is the emotional outburst in that or the denial? Civility is about respect, a thrait u have failed to exhibit in your comments. What standard have you used to judge Ifa worshipers as uncivilized? Could it be Islamic, we know its not by the African culture of live and let live which Ifa represents.

Go back to my last post and you will see how Ifa will heal the World. Tolerance Brov, no muslim Ummah or kaffirs just one human race with different beliefs in God.  Lets not be blinded by dogma.

If I am olodo u are Oga omowe.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 6:24pm On Jan 21, 2012
Ndu Chuks, I read with sadness your comments calling other peoples culture and heritage primitive, in the World of today there is respect for other peoples beliefs and tradition as long as its non violent or oppressive. Your statement is stuck in time, of the hey days of Arab/Islamic imperialism and European colonization of Africa, when everything about us Black Africans was called evil and uncivilized. But thankfully the western powers have moved on, they understand the World better, others cultures are now treated with mutual respect. Sadly though the Arab/Islam imperialist of yesteryears still hold on to this culture of intolerance and superiority complex, where everything about other cultures is Harem unless approved by Sharia. We wait until when such changes will take place, when the muslim man and the  Arab imperialist will embrace the concept of one out of many. The human race.

Be above this self hate put on us by the Arab and European slave masters.

Ifa will heal the world because its non judgemental, tolerant and peaceful. If ifa was the dominant religious belief in the North the place will not be the killing field that its today.
PoliticsRe: Our Next Ig Should Be A Foreigner by okunoba(m): 4:55pm On Jan 21, 2012
@Beaf, U be real patriot of Nigeria. Why must stupid pride stand in the way of progress, I would love us to try something different for a change, we can`t keep on cooking rotten chicken and expect it to come out testing fresh. Your suggestion is what we need. Like the British guy said, maybe we should bring back the British to run some of these things that don`t work. When they were here there was no power, water or telephone failure.

I don`t care who is running these agencies as long as they can do the job well.  Stupid pride that feeds no one should not stop us from doing the right thing. Out source the IG job to the best candidate regardless of race or Nationality. Our security is more important than worthless pride.
PoliticsRe: Nzeogwu; How We Killed Sardauna (video) by okunoba(m): 9:27am On Jan 20, 2012
@North Sharp, U do well bruv. Anyone that as the audacity to call murderers of innocent people hero's can only be described as sick in the head, no offense meant. Who gave Nzeogwu the authority to kill without trial and conviction of these great leaders.

I hated the late Sarduna based on the fact that he came from that line of Fulani jihadist that tried to conquer Yoruba Land and impose Islam and a Fulani ruler on us as they did to Hausa people. But after seeing a video of one of his interviews, my opinion about him changed and I have to admit I have nothing but respect and admiration for the man. I believe if he had ruled for a lot longer the North would have continued on the path to success which he was on before he was brutally murdered.

In the interview he talked of the Northern perception of the Igbo race being power hungry and would do anything to get to the top, this statement I found disturbing but at the same time I do understand he was speaking at a time when there was no political correctness. Sadly Nzeogwu`s coup made this statement seem true.

When he came to power there were less than 10 Northerners in the civil service in that region, the Igbos dominated these positions and to a lesser extent Yoruba's. By the time he was killed, the man had empowered Northerners by educating thousands of them so they can take those positions which we Southerners had monopolized. When asked why he was advocating Northerner first in the employment policy of the region, his reply was prophetic. He said it was dangerous not to empower Northern youths through Education, training and job creation and have all these jobs taken by non Indigence. This according to him was a recipe for disaster as it could lead to social discontent and anger which could turn violent.

Today the man`s prophecy as come to light, the killings in the North today of we Southerners is not really based on religion, but more because of the failure of future leaders to carry on his legacy of educating and training more Northerners so they can be in a better position to compete in the modern World. Hence we have the Almajiris who have no education, training or job. Yet they see all these strangers who are better equipped getting all the jobs in their land. Why wont they be angry and violent, especially when laced with poisonous dose of dogma.

The man was no National hero as there was non at that time, all the leaders then were all Regional hero's, but what we cannot deny though is the true love and vision he had for his people. This man by all account is the greatest Northern leader of Nigeria. If only people like IBB, Buhari and the rest of them had just followered in his footstep by educating more of our Northern brothers, we wouldn`t be dealing with a Boko today.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 12:09am On Jan 20, 2012
@Katsumoto, just speaking the truth, are Yoruba people not leaving Islam in droves? We are one no doubt, but many of us don`t want to be Muslims anymore. That is the reality, we are one regardless of religion.

@Tpia, After all these years civility is still not in your dictionary. Lets be civil sis, no reason to be rude. I am sure u can make your point without resulting to the lowest denominator.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 8:59pm On Jan 19, 2012
@tpia, U not coherent, what is the crap? that Yoruba`s are leaving Islam in droves, a known but unspoken fact, where is the mischief in speaking the truth.

Ignorance? Sorry mate talking from experience, history and observation of Yoruba history.

Yoruba traditional religion is going but not strong, most that practice it do it in hiding, u don`t hide when strong, only when weak.

Do u honestly know many Yoruba christians that have converted to Islam? I doubt it, but I doubt if u can honestly say u don`t know many Yoruba`s muslims that have converted to Christianity even within the confinement of your family setting? Assuming u Yoruba like me?

Yes, we have Yoruba muslim scholars but that doesn`t take away from the fact that we Yoruba`s are leaving Islam in our thousands every year.  There is a movement away from Islam in Yoruba land, without a fight.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 8:08pm On Jan 19, 2012
@Dayokanu, Half of my family are Muslims, but like I wrote earlier almost half of them have converted to christianity or are just non believers. U are right about muslims and christians eating and celebrating together, I am a product of that union, mom muslim and dad christian, but that doesn`t take away from the fact that many Yoruba`s are leaving Islam to become pentecostal Christians or non believers. With education more of us will continue to leave Islam and hopefully christianity as well. We need to abandon dogma and embrace reason.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 7:57pm On Jan 19, 2012
@tpia, waitin concern Ndigbo with my talk. I am talking from reality, Yoruba`s are leaving Islam in droves everyday. If u are Yoruba u must have muslims that have converted to Christianity, but I doubt if u will find a Yoruba Christian converting to Islam. Educated Yoruba`s have been leaving Islam from the 60s, the first Ibadan Doctor, Dr Agbaje, was born into a prominent Yoruba muslim family, Salami Agbaje, but the Dr converted to christianity after his education and many more from the same family have all abandoned imolele(forced religion) religion. Alhamdulillah
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Christians, Yoruba Muslims. . . .what Is That? by okunoba(m): 6:59pm On Jan 19, 2012
Every day in Yoruba land we are losing many muslims to the Pastor Adeboye`s of this World. Islam is a dying religion in Yoruba land. More and more of our people are leaving Islam to become Christians or non believers. Half of the Yoruba Muslim Families I know have all converted. I believe in 20 yrs time less than 20% of us will be practicing muslims.

Education is bringing the natural death of Islam in Yoruba Land. The orisha`s have not abandoned us.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Spokeman - Nigeria Belongs To ALLAH by okunoba(m): 3:49am On Dec 28, 2011
It's obvious to 62% of poll takers that Islam promotes violence. If that somehow makes me a fool, I'd like to know how.
"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.
The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.
A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.
Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.
No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science , the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome." Winston Churchill.

We are a slave to dogma of gone by days when man still believed the World was flat. Culture is vibrant and not stagnant, one day our culture will move on to the next level, where we are ruled by reason instead of culture and religious dogma. Live and let live.

Animals in suits and Agbada leading fellow animals. In a country where petty thieves are set on fire, I am not surprised they want to jail gays. We are still so backward.
PoliticsRe: Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland Election (voting In Progress: ) by okunoba(m): 3:31am On Dec 08, 2011
@ Okija juju, you are ahead of your time, the socrates of Nairaland. You are way above this meaningless title. A special breed, you have a mind of your own, not just a sheep following the herd. I am sure you love Ndigbo more than  those that  follow the sheep(Ojuwku) and refuse to see the damage done to Ndigbo by his reckless adventurism.

Someone asked a question about what you would have done if you were the governor of the Eastern Region when Igbos were being killed, well I am sure you wouldn`t have gone to war knowing full well you were ill prepared for it. I think you would have used reason and not brute force to deal with the situation. Before the war thousands lost their lives, after it millions died. All for nothing. Southerners are still being killed today in the North and yet we have not decided to go to war because of it. Y did the Ikemba decide to sacrifice millions of lives just to save few thousands, it makes absolutely no sense except that it was just a power struggle between him and Gowan, but masked as a struggle for the great Igbo race.

As a student of history I know u can`t take on the World on your own, what made the Ikemba do it? The war was not just between Ndigbo and the North, no it was against Nigeria and the rest of the World pretty much. This is what we call arrogance of the highest order, thinking u can take on everybody. AU, UN, USA, RUSSIA, BRITAIN were all against the break up yet he continued with the misadventure. LIke u rightly said he should have made the ultimate sacrifice like the many brave souls who gave everything for Biafra. May their souls rest in perfect peace.

With a mind set like yours Okija and many others like u, the Igbo race would surely take their rightful place again as first among equals.

I salute your courage once again.

PoliticsRe: Why Did Adekunle Make This Statement by okunoba(m): 5:20pm On Nov 29, 2011
@Aloy Emeka, u reasoning is based on emotions not reason. Have you heard about the blockade of Germany during the war, which stopped the flow of food to Germany and resulted in the starvation of over 700,000 germans. Food blockade was not invented by Awo, it`s a common strategy used during war time. The Ikemba as a student of History should have been aware of this, especially someone that graduated with honors and should have made some sort of plan to that effects, but as we all know Nigerians are just good at cramming books without really taken it in.

PoliticsRe: Why Did Adekunle Make This Statement by okunoba(m): 5:00pm On Nov 29, 2011
@Bashr8, You have asked a very good Qs, why did Adekunle make a statement that would in todays World put him in jail for war crimes? Maybe he was trying to sound hard and bad, could be hatred developed over the years or maybe the mind set was still dominated by that old tribal warfare of gone by days when killing in war had little rules. We can`t really know unless there is a record of him explaining why he made such horrible and evil statement. But Adekunle is an individual and his statement shouldn`t be used to label all Yoruba people as bad.
PoliticsRe: Sanusi Wins Africa Person Of The Year By Forbes Magazine by okunoba(m): 4:21pm On Nov 29, 2011
@BIGER BOY, It`s not possible for anyone to mock these vulnerable young men(Almajiri) who face a life of abuse and hopelessness due to the policies of the big Alhaji`s and Mallams like sanusi. What as he done or doing to change the fortune of these voiceless kids, as the so called Northern crowned prince and power broker in Nigeria. He writes articles defending sharia, but why not fight for the human rights of these children of god who spend their formative years in an abusive environment, where they are turned to a pack of hyenas, ready to kill at the slightest provocation. Are we surprise, of course not, any student of sociology would know abused kids have a higher chance of becoming abusers themselves.

@ manchy, Thanks for speaking out for these children of god who have been abandoned by the people that should be caring for them.
When are we going to get a powerful Northerner that will fight for the human rights of these abused kids?

EducationRe: Is University Of Ibadan Any Better Than Covenant University? by okunoba(m): 7:42pm On Nov 16, 2011
@Ijogz K, Its so sad reading your post and it makes me weep for Nigeria thinking people like u might end up in a position of power. Education is meant to expose us to the modern World not just in the material sense, but also in the way we reason and interact with those around us. Being civil and humble is a prerequisites of this new order and you have exhibited non of these traits in your writings. What u have shown is unfounded arrogance towards the less fortunate, forgetting that no condition is permanent. The richest man today can end up being very poor tomorrow, I have seen so many mighty ones fall and those at the bottom rise to the top. These so called Ajegunle and Alakara sellers might end up employing you someday, nobody knows what the future holds. I know many kids whose parents had so much during their university days who thought it was always going to be like that, but today they can barely feed themselves. Many of them depend on the generosity of the UK government today, some of these kids went to the best schools money can buy, but are nothing today. Many of our leaders in Nigeria came from very poor background but today are on top of the ladder. Obasanjo, Goodluck the late Abiola all came from poor families but they ended up being at the top of Nigerian society.

I have lived in the western World for most of my life and the one thing I have learnt from these Americans and Europeans who rule the World and brought the so called modern civilization to Africa isn`t how to speak or write big grammar but respect for your fellow human being, even if they are less fortunate than you. To belittle poor kids because your father as money shows you have a long way to go before u can be called properly educated and civilized. Remember your situation today isn`t made in stone, anything can happen, u could easily end up begging to sell Akara in the future. But I understand wisdom comes with age, I just pray it doesn`t elude u.
IslamRe: Is Islam Really A Religion Of Peace? by okunoba(m): 6:58am On Nov 16, 2011
@Vedaxcool, u giving examples of people who kill for different reasons, but not for christianity, it`s not the same thing as Muslims that claim to kill or fight for Allah as instructed in the Holy Koran.

@Sweetner, Islam was forced on us Yoruba people by the Fulani jihadist(Usman Danfodio and Alimi) Read about the islamic conquest in Northern Nigeria and Yoruba land, if not for the British I am sure we would have been conquered and all Yoruba`s forced to convert as they did to Ilorin and old Oyo people. Read your history bro. Salam
