@ojumiii, lets turn your logic around, just because prophet Mo ham mad (PBUH) claimed god spoke to him through Angel Gabriel does not mean God really spoke to him, it could have been the devil or his mind playing tricks on him. So there is No verse in the Quran where killing his permitted! you might as well add no where in the Hadith will you find Prophet Mo ham mad ordering the killing of his perceived enemies. Well bro this tells me that you either haven`t read these books or you only memorized them without any understanding. Find below 2 examples where Muslims are ordered to fight non believers. Worst once will be posted if you are still in denial. Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them" Quran(9:29) Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. (Jizya is the money that non-Muslims must pay to their Muslim overlords in a pure Islamic state.) |
@Ojumiii, A killer is only called a Muslim terrorist when he or she claims to be following the teachings and ways of the Prophet Mohammad(PBHH) as written in the Koran and Hadith. Your example of Hitler is completely way off the mark, he never claimed to be following any religious doctrine unlike the Taliban and Al qaeda that claim to be following the teachings and ways of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as written in the Quran and the Hadith. A claim they can always back up with verses in the Quran. If you go on a killing spree of innocent people even if you are a Muslim no one will label you a Muslim terrorist unless you claim to be doing it in the name of Islam. If the Norwegian bomber had said anything about killing in the name of Christianity as written in the bible, no one will hesitate to call him a christian terrorist. Lets not be in denial. Only the truth will set you free. May Mo ham mad have peace. |
@sagamite, We learn how to speak big English but we fail to pick up on the civility of the UK culture. There really is no need to insult the president, I am sure you can criticize him without the need to insults his person. Being civilized isn`t about speaking and writing big grammar, but more about what we do and say. Gutter language is for a bygone days and the uncultured. Lets cultivate good manners in talk and deeds. How many times have we heard people in the UK describe Nigerians as rude and disrespectful, please lets not perpetuate the stereotype. |
@sweetnecta, the topic is about a Muslim being more civil than a christian, it`s not about Christian or Muslim Nations waging war. And I just listed reasons why I don`t think this is true. In the civilize World anyone that kills because their religion as been insulted is considered barbaric. If you insult my father I would only think u are rude but if you kill him because he said something you didn`t like, I would call you barbaric. Since you are in denial about Muslims killing whenever they feel Islam or Prophet Mohammad as been insulted, below are two example of the many killings that takes place all over the World whenever Muslims feel Islam as been insulted. I believe it`s almost impossible to overcome Islamic brainwashing because it starts from a very early age until adulthood and it`s relentless, taking away once ability to think critically. Please give one example where Christians have killed because Jeseus or Christianity was insulted. AMSTERDAM (AP) The Dutch marked the fifth anniversary Monday of the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh by a Muslim fanatic, a brutal killing that incited anti-Muslim anger and continues to shape politics in the Netherlands. "Van Gogh, a distant relative of the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh, was shot and stabbed on an Amsterdam street Nov. 2, 2004, setting off a spate of mosque burnings in a country once renowned for its tolerance. The killer Mohammed Bouyeri, a Dutch-born man of Moroccan descent, said he did it because Van Gogh insulted Islam in his films. Bouyeri is serving a life sentence for the killing, which was ruled a terrorist act" "Militants gunned down the only Christian in Pakistan's government outside his widowed mother's home Wednesday, the second assassination in two months of a high-profile opponent of laws that impose the death penalty for insulting Islam. Shahbaz Bhatti was aware of the danger he faced, saying in a videotaped message that he had received death threats from al-Qaida and the Taliban. In it, the 42-year-old said he was "ready to die" for the country's often persecuted Christian and other non-Muslim minorities. The slaying in Islamabad followed the killing of Salman Taseer, a liberal politician who was gunned down in the capital by one of his guards. Both men had campaigned to change blasphemy laws in Pakistan that impose the death penalty for insulting Islam and have been loudly defended by Islamist political parties" |
@moha00nine, Α Muslim Is More Civil Than α Christian Ans- A muslim is more barbaric because he kills when offended or criticized But a christian turns the other chic when offended or criticized 1 α Muslim would neva toy and/or desecrate α Bible. Ans- a christian "would not kill if u toy or desecrate a Bible" But a muslim would kill if you do the same to the Koran 2 α Muslim neva toys or jokes with Jesus (Prophet ISA (AS)) Ans- a christian neve kills if you joke with (prophet ISA) But a muslim would kill if you toy or joke with prophet Mohammed 3 α Muslim neva would draw o make α cartoon of Jesus (Prophet ISA (AS)) Ans- a christian neve would kill if you draw or make a cartoon of (prophet ISA) But a muslim would kill if you toy or joke with prophet Mohammed 4 α Muslim neva calls Jesus (Prophet ISA (AS)) names or insult his being Ans- a christian neva would kill if you call (prophet ISA) names or insult his being . But a muslim would kill if you call prophet Mohammed names or insult his being. To you be your religion and to me my religion Lakum dinukum wa-liya dini (Q109:6) Ans- {Your Lord revealed to the angels, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes"}; [ Q8:12]. Come off the brain washing brother. |
@Eko Ile, think positive my brother, calling people names will not make our country better. Gutter language only makes us look bad and backward. Our leaders are a part of us they reflect the community we come from, if we citizens are no better we cant expect them to be. Yoruba ronu, education is about civility and the way we deal with issues. Be part of the solution not part of the problem. I personally don`t think Goodluck will turn out good, that`s because I see him as one of us your average Nigerian and you are a good example of that. Insulting and hating yet want a better Nigeria. Exhibit that change that u want in your deeds. Eko ti baje, how we go fix am na him be the issue. We can only start with self. Man in the mirror. |
What do we gain in calling people derogatory names, is that the solution to the problems facing Nigeria isn`t that contributing to the problem. By calling President Goodluck, Odechukwu would that bring any positive change to the country. We are better off doing things in our own capacity to make Nigeria a better place, the negative energy we spend belittling others can be used in a more positive way by coming up with ideas on how to move the country forward. I believe we Nigerians are the problem of that country, our energy is more geered towards putting each other down instead of up. Back to the topic, I agree that people come up with new meaning for words every day, but odechukwu serves no other purpose other than to belittle and insult Mr President and one can also take it as a swipe at Ndigbo. Hate only breeds hate, if we want a better World we should start with self. Before we point fingers, what have we done to make our country better other than insulting and spreading hate. |
America with all it`s military and technological might have not been able to stop the terrorist in Iraq and Afghanistan in over ten years of trying. But we expect a poor and underdeveloped country like Nigeria to be able to flush out terrorist in less than one year. We don`t have to like Jonathan to know how difficult a job it`s to fight terrorism. India, Pakistan and Russia have been struggling for years just like America to contain this modern day menace. Lets be objective in our criticism of the president even if we didn`t vote for him. Scoring cheap points to try and make him look bad because we didn`t vote for him will not solve our problems, all it does is show our vindictive and selfish we are. If I no vote for you, I must wish you bad is not the way forward for our country. We can overcome our problems in Nigeria but only if we work as a team, he no be one man show. |
A church pastor has been jailed for 11-and-a-half years after being found guilty of trafficking children into the UK for use as domestic "slaves" at her home in Barking, east London. Lucy Adeniji brought two children and a 21-year-old woman to the UK from Africa illegally and used them as servants. She was convicted of 17 different counts at Isleworth Crown Court. The mother-of-five is the first person to be jailed for trafficking children into the UK for domestic servitude. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-12799805 |
Watch Nigerian police beatings in Maiduguri. This is evil police at work, a force of sorrow tears and blood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOkMzFg7S3Q |
There is nothing wrong with having Islamic banking as long as it meets the required standard and it`s not being funded by the Gov`t. The cardinal should concentrate on more important issues facing the country and the church. LIVE AND LET LIVE @omoalaro, You are in denial about the atrocities committed in the name of Islam, US Govt as people of all religions and non believers as well. If christian Joseph steals or kills he his a criminal, if Yusuf steals or kills he his also a criminal, the only time someone is referred to as a Muslim criminal is when the person claims they were inspired by the teachings of Islam to commit the crime. The same thing can be said about believers, no matter how many verses of the Koran you quote showing that the Koran teaches extreme violence, they will never see it because their mind was made up many years ago from the religious indoctrination they went through as kids. Religious people are usually deaf, dumb and blind. Their ability to reason taken away by dogma. |
Live and let live. Homosexuality is a choice, this is called freedom to be who we are as long as we are not hurting others. Please my people let them be. We have a long way to go before we understand the meaning of human rights. Nigerians dey always read, but always with a closed mind. Africa needs enlightenment. The coach is your typical ignorant and bigoted African, no wonder they still call us monkeys. |
@Sagamite, If the vote was for the best circus tricks then Okocha wins, but if you are talking of football that wins games then Yakubu is the man, his goals secured Nigeria a World cup place. Football is a team sport, country/ club talk is irrelevant. Since Kanu the so called bit part player left Arsenal they have not won a single title, that speaks for its self. The players you mentioned, Pele, Maradona, Henry and Zidane, are considered great players for scoring many important goals at the highest level, not for performing circus tricks with no end product. You forget Football is also about preventing goals and no one was better at it than the great Dane at his peak. Andy goal scored a lot but he was not the best at scoring, besides he never was able to do the same at National level. The elevation of zidane to one of the greats of football is due not only to the fact that he was a great team player, but the fact that he scored the two goals that secured France it`s first WC. I think you should think things through before writing. Do you think the World is shouting about Messi just because of his dribbling skills, No, it`s because there is an end product to the dribbling, the guy can score and pass. Okocha was only about dribbling to entertain his circus audience. If only Raul had helped Spain win the World cup maybe then we would be comparing him to Zidane. |
Kanu deserves to be one or second based on his club achievements, Yekini should be one or two based on his contribution to the National team(Nigeria`s highest goal scorer) We are still searching for a consistent goal scorer for the National team ever since he retired from International football. Football is about scoring goals not dribbling and for that I would rate Yakubu the second highest goal scorer for Nigeria above Okocha any day. Okala should be top ten at the least, the man was the safest hands in Africa for many years. Oliseh should be far from that list, i still blame him for our loss to Italy at the 94 WC. Two mistakes by him in the final minutes of regular playing time cost us the game. |
Nice clean look is always better than your typical fake long hair that must Nigerian girls put on. Respect my first lady, a very good example of beauty in simplicity. |
You should confess to him only if you believe in equality of sexes and you know for sure you will not be losing everything, if he decides to leave you for being honest. If he loves you and cares, you should be able to tell him under the pretext of your Miscarriage. Its common for women to suffer a roller coaster of emotions after just having a miscarriage, the hormonal changes that occur can lead to uncharacteristic behavior. Men also can be effected by this event. This could be the reason why you suddenly lost interest in your partner and why he went astray. You both are obviously affected by this tragic loss. There is alot of research publications on the emotional effects on partners who have suffered from miscarriages but alot more work still needs to be done. Look on the net for more information. Tackling the issue from a medical point of view is the best way to come clean, you can both go for counseling to deal with the loss of your child and then try working things out in your marriage. You have no reason to feel guilty, you have a good medical reason why you did what you did. |
@Beaf, I guess you don`t believe in press freedom. The only newspapers allowed by beaf must be pro christians and southerners. The muslim north need a voice just like the christian south. Press freedom is one of the most important aspect of modern day democracy, some of us just don`t know the meaning of that word and what it entails. |
Do must black women hate their natural hair? Could it be the reason must will never be seen with their god given Afro. Black hate is a disease that must be cured. Please watch this video by Tyra Banks showing how much black women hate their natural hair, must of them want to have hair like white women. No wonder most Nigerian girls have fake long straight hair. What a sad story. What is good hair by Tyra Banks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeXUm8OOUA8&feature=related |
Igbo vs Yoruba, I just cant take it anymore. Always glad when a brother is doing well, I just hope he does a good job. |
what is the price? |
Most of my male friends can`t stand the fake hair business, hence they mostly date white girls. I have been lucky not to date any woman with fake hair, can`t stand the smell, fake look and the fact that it looks like it belongs to somebody else. We all can`t have hair like white people. When will sisters start having some sort of pride about what makes them black. Mental slavery and colonial mentality don finish Black woman sense of self pride. We don talk about this issue before, but yet our black sis just don`t seem to get ; most of us guys don`t like fake hair. |
@bk.babe97y, Am in NYC next month, will be more than happy to meet up with you and show you my paasport, which clearly shows my Ilare family name as authentic Yoruba name, from Ile Ife the source, on the condition that you give $1000 to any charity of my choice. I also have a friend on the forum who can confirm my Yorubanese. Most of us Yorubas are not bigots like Bluetooth, don`t be deceived, his actually one of the few bad eggs in our mist. I spell it Igbo because the Igbos on this forum have made a point of letting us know that is how they want the name spelt. Similar to black Americans wanting to be called African Americans. It does not hurt to be polite and civil. Its all about respect, I take pride in respecting others because that is how I want to be treated. |
@bk.babe97y, Thanks for the compliment, I am not trying to be a Gandhi or Dalia Lama, maybe a Martin Luther King. I am from a town called Ile Ife, which means land of love in Yoruba, so I guess I am living up to the name, as we Yoruba's say, Oruko ni roni. If you think my kinfolk, Yoruba to be precise are filthy charactered beasts, you are saying nothing new, some Igbos that you so much detest have said the same thing about us, I guess you have things in common with bigots. How do you feel when white Americans call African Americans filthy charactered beast who are responsible for most of the drug peddling and killings in America? If you want a better World look in the mirror. To teach good behavior, I think one as to start with self. |
@bk.babe97y, I guess you don`t know much about Nigeria, from my name any Nigerian would realize I am Yoruba. If some Igbos blame others for their problem does that make all Igbo people bad? There are also many Yoruba's that blame Igbo people for everything that is wrong in Nigeria does that make us all bad? Please don`t paint every Igbo with the same brush, just because of a few that you might have known. I went to school with Igbo people, many in my family are married to them. We live together side by side in Lagos and many cities in Nigeria without any problem except the occasional issues that people have when they live together in close proximity. We might have a go at each other on Nairaland, but this is far from the reality when we are together. The issue is that both groups are very driven and sometimes it comes across as hate, but in reality there is much more love between the two groups than any other group in Nigeria. Don`t get involve in what you don`t understand. The Igbos blame other Nigerians for their problems because they went through a lot during the Biafran War, similar to how Black Americans suffered badly during the time of slavery and the pain they went through before the civil rights act, hence many Black Americans still blame the white race for all their current problems. Should we then take this as good enough reason to start dehumanizing them. I tell you what many people do, they call you guys names for not achieving in the mist of plenty. But I refuse to go that route, i understand the effects of slavery and discrimination and it`s effects, I also understand the pain of war, seeing your family being wiped out, having your city razed to the ground and having to deal with discrimination after losing all you had. Sometimes we need to put ourselves in other peoples shoes. Have empathy for other peoples pain. I don`t like it when Igbos blame us Yoruba's for the Biafran war but I understand their pain. Like I wrote earlier, don`t put the African man down, try instead to pick him up if he his down, that will go a long way in building a better World. Be your brothers keeper. Too much hate in the black World, please lets put a stop to i. Breed love. |
@Bluetooth, That is Yoruba for you. No wonder they don`t like Igbos. Modakeke fights Ife. Those that live in a glass house should not throw stones. There is nothing the Igbo man does that we Yorubas don`t do, good or bad. Na people like u dey give BK-Babe mouth to come insult we Africans. You no say the way you dey put down your Nigerian brothers na so Oyinbo, Akata and even Jamo people dey put we Black Africans down. Carry go my brother you dey do well with your self hate. You think say you dey score point. |
@bk.babe97y, It`s a pity to see a fellow black brother writing horrible things about fellow blacks that have done him no harm. Remember that these nasty stuff you write about Igbo people is similar to what many white American write about Black Americans. We Nigerians have enough problems we don`t need an outsider to add more to it, if you can`t help us progress then leave us alone. What we need are black Americans that want to contribute to the upliftment of the black race, what you are doing is following in the foot steps of the white supremist that take pride in putting down the black race. When you insult the whole Igbo race you are also insulting all of us as Nigerians because we are alike more than you realize. If you love and respect the black race, please refrain from putting us down. We are one people with the same dream and aspirations, we all want a better Nigeria and Africa at large. We hope that someday someone like you can come and contribute to the progress of our nation, instead of writing derogatory stuff about our people. We need all hands on deck. "Help the weak if you are strong" |
@Bluetooth, Rhino.5dm, What do you guys gain by your constant abuse and belittling of Igbo people, what goodness does it bring to the black race? You guys are making us look bad, you are actually spoiling our well known reputation as peace loving and tolerance people. If you have nothing good to say about your fellow black brothers, then don`t say nothing. Fight against racism and ethnic bigotry, don`t add to the problem. For all you know you guys might have Igbo blood. Life can be full of surprises. |
We Yoruba's are savages, we are always beating everyone around us, for school na so so beat, home nko more beating, papa go beat mama and the children, area fathers go do then own beating, even the great Fela(RIP) na so him beat someone to death, na only money save am from prison. I call am the culture of violence, beatings everywhere, from North to South, from Yoruba to Kanuri. In Nigeria we are bound to violence. How many of us can say we were never victims of violence or perpetrators of it while growing up in Nigeria? Please, no be only Yoruba or Igbo de beat wife, its all over the World. If you live in a glass house don`t throw stones, a warning to my Yoruba brov that only want to say bad things about Igbo people. Always remember we have so many ills in our society as well. We have the good and the bad just like our Igbo brothers. |
As a Yorooba, Yoruba guy living in Lagos, I never heard Igbo people refered to as anything else but Ibo. Now we are being told that is not the correct way. We just can`t believe its wrong or disrespectful to call Igbo people Ibo, just because some guy on a Nigerian forum tells us so. We need to hear this from leading Igbo figures, who are true representative of the people. Why have they never made a big fuss about being called Ibo or Igbo? Yorubas are not to blame. @beejaei, You and Ms Adichie are saying the same thing, always two sides to a coin. Danger of a single story, meaning just don`t tell or hear only one side of a story, we miss out on the whole when we do. |
@The Amaka, Good to have someone like you on Nairaland. I hope you don`t fall into the trap of the ethnic bigots that always want to tear us apart. I don`t understand why we spend so much time putting each other down, instead of working for the common good of Nigeria and the black race. Ethnic bashing only makes us all look bad and backward. If na Oyinbo man dey say all this poo about us, we go dey call am racist. We are our own worst enemy. Lets try and give love not this, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa poo talk we spend so much time on. If my Igbo brother is in pain, I am in pain; if my Yoruba kin is hurt, I am hurt; if my Hausa cousin is abused, I am abused; for we are all one in humanity and part of the black race. How do we expect to overcome all our problems if we spend most of the time fighting each other. Time to wise up my people. Please guys can we just try and treat others the way we would like to be treated. Hate will get us nowhere, but will only destroy us. |
