http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/fayemi-explodes-says-lets-see-who-will.html Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has lambasted Governor Ayodele Fayose over the latter’s comments and actions about him. He also described the attempt being made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to reclaim power in 2019 as plot to continue to loot the country. The Minister of Mines and Steel Development urged Nigerians not to use the current fuel scarcity to rate President Muhammadu Buhari’s performances. ’What we are witnessing is just a normal curve in the life of any administration. We will get over it and move on, but largely President has not disappointed Nigerians,” he said. The Minister described the panel of enquiry inaugurated by Fayose to probe his administration as a kangaroo one, noting that it was an attempt to smear his reputation and render him unpopular. “Fayose stock in trade is lying against someone to score political gains. They started with the probe of N852 million UBEC fund and when they knew they could not go far, they started concocting lies and said.I looted N17 billion. “Let t us wait and see who will go to jail between Fayose and I. I have been out of office and I am still moving free, but I am sure he won’t be able to walk free on the streets after losing immunity because of the way he has run the state aground”, he stated. Addressing the pressmen in Isan Ekiti in Oye local government area of Ekiti State on Wednesday, Fayemi said Nigerians would ensure that PDP didn’t return to power because of the high level of looting it perpetrated while in the saddle. Fayemi, who didn’t say categorically whether he is still nursing governorship ambition, said the APC is very committed to making sure that Ekiti rejoins the league of developing states by ensuring that the party wins the 2018 governorship poll. “What the PDP want to come back and do is stealing. The options for Nigerians in 2019 is to either return to the old age of criminalization and brigandage by voting for the PDP, because nothing to convince Nigerians that they have changed with the shenanigans that characterised their national convention and poor performances by their governors. “Up to now, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and his henchmen have not apologized about how they ran the country aground. So, there is nothing to suggest that PDP remains a credible alternative to APC in 2019”, he said. Fayemi further discountenanced attacks by his political adversaries that he has not used his ministerial position for the benefit of the state. ”What I have done is measurable and clear. This government has began the construction of a federal secretariat and housing estate in Ekiti; the rail-line was extended to this state in the FG’s proposal due to my intervention. “4,000 Ekiti indigenes are benefitting from N-power and very soon it will go up to 12,000. The proposal for kaolin exploration in Ekiti has just been completed; that of the bauxite will begin soon. “President Buhari’s government is planning to set up a cottage industry in Ekiti for the sake of the solid minerals exploration and I have enlisted small scale miners around Ijero Ekiti for them to benefit from the N5b loan set up by the Bank of Industry”, he revealed.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/zimbabwe-chiwenga-ex-army-general-who.html General Constantino Chiwenga, Zimbabwe former army commander who led a military takeover that helped end Robert Mugabe’s rule has been sworn in as the country’s vice president. Chiwenga, who stopped Mugabe’s 37-year rule was Thursday sworn in as one of the country’s two vice presidents. He took the oath of office at the presidential office in Harare. He pledged to obey, uphold and defend the laws of the Southern Africa country. Meanwhile President Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to engage the services of Interpol to hunt down Robert Mugabe’s allies. Mugabe in trouble as Mnangagwa’s govt arrests allies, targets more In what is considered as beginning of probe of Mugabe’s government, Mnangagwa has ordered arrest of former officials who fled the country when the military toppled the veteran ruler last month. Former ministers Jonathan Moyo, Saviour Kasukuwere and Paddy Zhanda are believed to be the prime targets because of alleged corruption-related crimes, The Standard reports. The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) pursued Moyo during Mugabe’s era for the alleged theft of Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund money. ZACC has already arrested four close Mugabe allies namely Joseph Made, Walter Chidakwa, Ignatius Chombo and Jason Machaya. Former Zanu PF youth leaders Kudzanai Chipanga and Innocent Hamandishe were also arrested on criminal charges linked to the army takeover. Home Affairs minister Obert Mpofu told The Standard that the government would use Interpol to apprehend those outside the country. “We are doing everything possible to ensure that those that have committed crimes within Zimbabwe and are outside Zimbabwe are brought to book. If it means engaging Interpol, we will go that route,” he said. “The process is two-pronged, we are looking at the local investigations and outside investigations”.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/how-military-caused-fuel-scarcity.html A former Secretary of National Democratic Coalition, NADECO and Convener of Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reforms, Mr. Ayo Opadokun said it is shameful that Nigeria, which is one of the largest global producers of crude oil, still imports petrol for domestic consumption. Opadokun told journalists in Offa on Tuesday that the lingering fuel crisis is a result of prolonged misrule by military. He also blamed the sole ownership of fuel tanks built by independent marketers for fuel scarcity across the country. Opadokun said “I am extremely sad and weakened over the fuel crisis. But I know it to be a cumulative effect of the prolonged misrule of the country by the military. “When Buhari was there as the military Head of State, he built refineries but none has been added to the ones he built. The population was not as large as this; the vehicular movement was not as large and wide as this. “Since then, what has happened? Those who took over from him have totally ravaged Nigeria. What they needed to do, they did not do. “I was part of the Nigeria Labour Congress team that did sufficient research. We went to Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela to find out how much it costs to explore one barrel of crude oil. Nigeria’s own is the most costly in the world and then, what are they doing now? “What has happened in the last three or four months is that because the government is not willing to add more money to their profit, they (importers) said they would not import. So, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has been importing the totality of fuel being used in Nigeria. “But because we have been used to a system where fuel tanks (tank farms) are being built by independent marketers, they made that unavailable and impossible for the distribution to go seamlessly. That is the cause of the crisis.”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/christmas-what-tinubu-want-nigerians-to.html A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari to fix Nigeria’s economic problems. He urged Nigerians to learn from the example of Jesus Christ “who faced and overcame the greatest evil” by uniting to overcome the country ’s various challenges. “The challenges facing the country are difficult ones. Let us unite to overcome our challenges and keep the hope alive. “We must support President Buhari and complement his efforts in his resolve to stimulate the economy and reposition the country. “The president needs our support , understanding and prayers. We must fully break the terrorism of Boko Haram and completely put down the last vestiges of the terrorists. “We must continue to pray for the men in uniform who risk their lives to keep us safe and to end this scourge on the nation. I commend our troops battling the terrorists . I thank them again for their courage and bravery. “Let us remember those who have been dispossessed of their homes and traumatised by the evil of these terrorists and pray that they all will be able to return home soon and begin their lives a new and better. “Yet , we must do more than pray . We all have something to give, something to contribute to the greater good . As Jesus gave of himself that we may live better, we must give of ourselves that others around us may have a better life. “Christmas Day , is one of the most precious days of the year for it celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. “Be you Christian, Muslim or just a human being with a soul that yearns for peace, compassion and hope, Jesus Christ belongs to all of us . His teachings are universal in application and speak of truth eternal. “He reached out to all. Jesus fed the poor and healed the sick. He spread compassion and charity and preached love and justice . There are no finer aims than these and we can do no better than to do all we can to follow his example. “We must commit ourselves to peace and unity . Let us eschew all bitterness and bigotry ,” he said

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/mko-abiolas-daughter-reacts-to-hijab.html MKO Abiola’s daughter, Hafsat Abiola-Costello, has reacted to the controversy over a law graduate, Firdaus who was denied call to bar for wearing hijab. Hafsat commended Firdaus Amasa for defending her religion and challenging the status quo in the Nigerian law school. She wrote on her Facebook: “A law student passed all the requirements to be called to the bar but was not allowed to attend the ceremony because she refused to take off her hijab, which violates the rules of the Law School. “She knew of the rule but because she felt that it was unjust, she refused to comply. By so doing, she has chosen to challenge the status quo. “If she succeeds, the Law School will change the rule. If she fails, she would either have to comply in order to be called to the Bar in Nigeria or give up her dream of being a lawyer here. “Wish we would all be like Firdaus in pursuit of the world we want to live in. To stand up or take a knee and speak up against a practice or rule that we do not support. To be willing to challenge the prevailing practice, no matter the cost. After all, the problems we remain silent about are the ones we are condemned to live with. “As we think of what gifts to give each other during this Christmas season, let us gather stories of the courageous, the stories of the scared-but-acted-anyway to share at our tables. Let them inspire us to enter 2018 prepared to raise our voices about the issues we are concerned about; to push past complacency and complicity and demand change. “Well done, Firdaus. A lioness can only ever be the mother of cubs.”

He faulted the arrest of Chukwuma by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, wondering why killer herdsmen were still on the loose. In a tweet via his Twitter handle, the US-based Pastor asked if killing Nigerians rather than creating jobs is the way to progress under Buhari’s administration. He wrote: “Buhari quickly arrests the innocent five percenter Innoson who creates jobs for Nigerians, yet can’t arrest the guilty ninety seven percenter herdsmen who killing Nigerians. “Is it that if you want to progress in Buhari’s Nigeria you should kill Nigerians instead of creating jobs?”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/british-deputy-prime-minister-resigns.html British Prime Minister, Theresa May, on Wednesday accepted the resignation of her deputy Damian Green, who announced he was stepping down following a probe into his conduct. May wrote in a letter addressed to Green, “It is therefore with deep regret, and enduring gratitude for the contribution you have made over many years, that I asked you to resign from the government and have accepted your resignation.” The departure of one of the Prime Minister’s closest aides is the result of an investigation into Green’s conduct following newspaper allegations published last month. The Times had reported that pornography was found on Green’s parliamentary computer in 2008, while in a separate article a journalist claimed Green acted inappropriately towards her in 2015. In its report the Cabinet Office said Green had breached the ministerial code when he made “inaccurate and misleading” statements, by falsely claiming he was unaware that pornographic material had been found on his computer. http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/maina-attacks-presidency-says-bigger.html Abdulrasheed Maina, embattled former Chairman of defunct Pension Reform Task Force Team, PRTT, has alleged that bigger names involved in the looting of public funds are in the Presidency with President Muhammadu Buhari. Maina, who made the allegation also maintained that the anti-corruption fight championed by the Buhari-led government has not achieved result because those around him are lying to him. Speaking with The Sun, Maina said, “The unfortunate thing is that some people around him (President) whom he has trusted are lying to him. I can attest to this and I can give you instances and documentary evidences. People portray themselves as if they are saints. It is a lie; they are not. We know it and that is why they are after my life. “Why is it that the former SGF and other big personalities accused of stealing monies, including big personalities in the Villa, nobody is talking about them? Maina who is just a deputy director whom the Minister of Justice has said the DSS has cleared of any wrongdoing. “The National Security Adviser has cleared me of any wrongdoing. His office has also cleared me. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Prosecution has cleared me of any wrongdoing and that I have no case to answer and then a small unit under the ministry will come and start fighting me for N2.1 billion. “So are we trying to fight corruption in Nigeria or diverting attention by lying to Mr. President? Listen to me, Mr. President would have achieved more than what he has achieved. But because they are lying to Mr. President because they hate Maina, he won’t be able to achieve more. “You hate me. I know why you hate me. You hate me because I am somebody who is bold. I know how to fetch the money. I know how to follow the money. We have talented people in Nigeria. Let’s start harnessing these talents and stop all these bickering and stuff out of the system. Nigerians have elected a very decent man as president and has given you the trust, please stop lying to him. Speak the truth and let’s move forward. We have so much to recover.”

He said “The aggregate percentage of 93.71% of the capital expenditure allocated to the economic and social sub-sectors underscores the State Government’s determination to continue to pursue a people-centered, empowerment-focused agenda. We consider this as the best antidote to the problem of poverty amongst our people. “It is to be recalled that apart from consistently utilizing more than the stipulated minimum of all the recurrent intervention from the federal government to settle salary/pension and arrears, our administration had conceded 100% monthly allocation from the federation accounts to payment of salaries and pensions of the State’s work force”. He pointed out that elections into Local Government Areas and the newly created Local Council Development Areas will hold in 2018. “This is intended to bring governance to the door steps of the people and to enhance development at the grassroots. On the other hand, I appeal to tax defaulters to perform their civic responsibilities and join hands with others to contribute to government efforts at advancing the development of the State with its attendant socio – economic benefits”, he said. @ TITOPE-BLOG http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/stop-parading-yourselves-as-kings.html The Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis (Family Heads), has given a 7-day ultimatum to some High Chiefs in Ibadan who issued a 21-day detronment notice to the Olubadan of Ibadanland. It warned that failure to withdraw the threat will amount to facing the wrath of Ibadan people. Some High Chiefs and Baales promoted in a controversial manner as Kings by the Senator Abiola Ajimobi led administration in Oyo State had last Monday issued a 21-day ultimatum to the monarch to be of good conduct or risk being removed from the throne. The High Chiefs who were members of the Olubadan-In-Council led by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Lekan Balogun accused the Olubadan of taking decisions on behalf of the Council, inciting the people against the state government. But, the Mogajis (family heads) at the end of their meeting held on Thursday, urged the High Chiefs to stop parading themselves as Ibadan kings in order to avoid anarchy in the city. Chief Olawale Oladoja who spoke on behalf of the group said that the family heads decided to speak out on the threat to the Olubadan by the new kings in order to avert disintegration of the Ibadan chieftaincy customs and tradition. The mogajis also called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Ajimobi to stop the 21 kings from disrespecting the Olubadan, whom they described as a peace loving monarch.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/muslim-group-blows-hot-over-attack-on.html A Muslim group, the Muslim Rights Concern has revealed those attempting to eliminate the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu. The group, while threatening that heads would roll if anything happened to Magu, accused powerful corrupt politicians of trying hard to silence Magu forever. MURIC, in a statement on Wednesday, signed by Professor Ishaq Akintola, leader of the group, lamented that powerful corrupt politicians want to eliminate the EFCC boss. It could be recalled that unknown gunmen attacked Magu’s residence in Karchi Abuja two days ago, which led to the death of his police security officer. MURIC’s statement reads, “Unknown gunmen have again attacked the house of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu. A police sergeant on duty was reportedly killed on the property located at Karshi, an Abuja suburb two days ago. “Being the third attempt on the life of the EFCC boss this year alone, there is no iota of doubt at this time that a powerful corrupt person or persons whose case or cases are being investigated are determined to eliminate the no-nonsense anti-graft fighter. “The handwriting is on the wall and the Federal Government must give marching orders to the nation’s security agencies to leave no stone unturned in the mission to protect Magu. Some powerful people just want him out of the way by hook or by crook. They want anyone else except Magu as head of the EFCC. “This man should not just be sacrificed like that. He is not fighting a personal battle. He is on a mission to rescue Nigeria from the abyss of moral debauchery. He is fighting for both the present and future generations. Corruption must not be allowed to win the battle. Nigerians will lose hope in this war if the arrowhead is eliminated. We believe it is high time FG read the riot act to the security agencies. Heads must roll if anything happens to Magu. “MURIC demands round-the-clock impregnable security network around the person of Magu, his house as well as members of his nuclear family, no more, no less. No option should be underestimated, including his consumables and the possibility of the use of explosives anywhere around his vicinity. This is not asking for too much because any successor of Magu will have been intimidated if the latter is eventually eliminated. The implication of this for the war against graft is better imagined.”

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/12/pastors-must-account-for-tithes.html The former General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church, Prophet Samuel Abiara, has again weighed in on the issues of tithing and how it’s being spent by clerics. Recall that we had earlier reported the Prophet saying the controversies surrounding tithes and offerings show that “we are living in the end time.” Meanwhile, in another interview with journalists yesterday, Abiara said “people do not need to know what happens to the tithe they pay in church. However, clerics must account for the tithes and offerings paid by church members.” He said: “You don’t need to know what happens to the tithe you pay. Leave it to the servants of God who will use it for evangelism. It is not for you to investigate how the money is utilized.” “However, it is compulsory for the servants of God to give an account of the tithe and other offerings paid by church members to avoid corruption. Proper accountability of incomes accruable to the church will enable the authorities to pay the salaries of pastors and other workers as and when due,” he added
